Hi all!
I'm really liking the HTC One (M7), could someone please check for me whether it has native 3G video calling support? I couldn't find it under the manual but some sites said YES to native 3G video calling.
Thx in advance : )

it doesn't have it
Thx for the quick reply! Seeing that most Android smartphone's have a front camera, it's unfortunate they don't have native video calling support

Hello Forum,
i read in an article http://www.androidnews.de/skype-videochat-fur-android-verfugbar-aber-nur-im-htc-thunderbolt that the video function has been enabled in skype but only for thunderbolt devices.
there is a link where you can download the apk.

ON HD2
This would be another great step for HD2.
at the moment I have the skype on 3G in USA mod, but VIDEO would be a dream plus 3G in USA
I'd had unistalled Skype from my phone since Fring came out but i'll give a try again and see if it worthed.

Exactly! if i do want to use video, i use Tango Video Calls (from market)
a mirror is all you need if the application can use the camera on back, just a bit awkward
That'd be just plain stupid. If you want video calls on the go just buy a new phone with a front facing camera.
have you ever thought about using speaker phone and rear camera ? why is this stupid ? I might use video calling once a month, I dont need front camera

I guess he means recording sound from both parties in a call
yup zorkman got it right...
in no-2 way call recording...the voice of the person on the other end is too low...
while in 2-way call recording, both parties have proper sound volume recorded
I've tried the MIUI ROM and it comes with in-built 2-way call recording, have you tried that? Check out Moon101's ROM for example.
free androrec works fine for me on rooted stock 2.3.4 rom
can anybody upload "record my call" latest version(3.7)??
I cannot download frm market(very slow edge connection).
also it aint available on any hosting sites
Those apps are only recording microphone...
"Record My Call
Please be kind and do not give 1 star if the app does not work on your phone.
Currently the app does not work on some phones. Please go to my website for phone compatibility (http://nathanielkh.wordpress.com/android-app/record-my-call/) before install it. You can also download the apk from the same website if Android Market does not provide the link.
Use speaker to get a better record quality during call.
Description:
This application has a basic purpose to record all your call (incoming and outgoing). Please be noticed that due to limitation of Android phone (hardware and software), this program only can record from microphone. Please turn on the loudspeaker during conversation to get clear voice from the other side. All conversations are recorded under file “RecordMyCall” file in memory card."
Same for the others.
Hey guys,
I'm interested in getting an application to record room audio, like a meeting or class, for example. What would you recommend?
Thanks!

Hi
I‘m using VirtualRecorder to record my lesson during class. Good quality and can convert to mp3 too. Also it has a mic preamp which is useful on situations when you are far from the subject Get it from the market, it‘s free.
As for 2-way call recording, from my experience on linux, it must be supported in the kernel
On the Galaxy S2 forums you can find more info regarding the subject.
I dont think Nvidia will soon (if ever ) release such feature. They are late even on the ICS kernel 3.0*
Also for a Dev porting it means getting the APIs working and coding the right baseband driver.

So there's no conversation recording app for this phone?
I use record my call, works great. Using the "default" option under tips and tricks as source. My own voice is lower than the incomming, but can still hear it clearly. Dj m 1.1 w spicas sr3-2
Very interested to have a kernel that supports 2-way call recording will try the option of the previoous poster.

hey devs, n members, plz give some reply..
I'd like to ask too...
Is there a kernel with 2 way call recording?
nobody?
I did use a call recording app once and 2-way recording worked out of the box.
Was using the Stock CM7 kernel then.
Never tried (nor interested in trying) with newer ROMs.
Go ahead and check for yourself if it still works.

Skype is your best bet.
..and the guy above is right.. even with those phones, they still use Data for video calls. You can't send video without data.. thats fact.
I think the OP is referring to Google talk video chat over 3G.
Am I right?

You're playing with words...
He means native video support via the phone contacts, like a normal voice call, but using video, it uses your mins or costs if your data plan doesn't give you free mins, rather than using your data allowance, instead of using an app like Skype or Gtalk...
I don't think people even know what normal video calls are. Using Skype or Gtalk on your mobile is new, But doing normal 3g video calls have been available since 2003 in the UK at least.
I dunno why people are like this on forums, it's highly annoying. It's some techie sort of snobbery (word play) or ignorance (as in they don't even know)... Either way I don't like it...
It was pretty obvious what he was asking...
I hate it when people say use Skype instead, that really annoys me, that implies the person you want to call is always on Skype, which they're not. With normal video calls, it calls the number like a voice call, so you have access anytime, as long as they have a 3g signal.
Hi all,
As asked in the subject, is the One better than the OneX, regarding call recording?
I have a OneX at the moment and I remember I had to follow this guide to enable call recording:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663642
While that approach worked, it was hacky and a little sub-optimal.
I read there were devices that had a much more integrated support for call-recording in custom kernels/roms...for some reason the OneX never made it to that point, however.
Does anybody know where the situation stands for the One?
Does recording work out of the box? Should I root/patch?
Thanks!
Yes it is. Sound is good in every aspect of this phone. Probably the strongest part of the phone.

So you say it works out of the box? That's great!
And is it two-way (recording both outgoing and incoming voices during the call)?

No.
As far as I'm aware, and I've searched high and low, two way line recording isn't working on the non-rooted One. Yet.
No no no no!
I meant that it should be possible with rooting and similar ways, should have said that. My bad, sorry.

Ok, so rooting is needed. No big deal.
But with that, do we have two-way call recording support (not talking about the apps, that I know where to find)??
Any source where I can read more about this related to the One?? I tried to look in the forum but I didn't find anything...
Thanks!
No clue boss , I don't record calls, I swear a lot. Not a pleasing playback.

Hi Guys!
Can somebody please confirm if this phone supports Native Video Calling over 3G Network? i.e. option to make a video call from the phone's dialer or contacts and not via some third party apps like Tango, Skype, Hangouts, etc.
Your help is appreciated :good:

Yes, Canvas Turbo A250 supports native video calling over 3G network and no need any 3rd party apps for that.

Thanks for the screenshot mate. I got 2 high-end phones but, they suck when it comes to Native Video Calling Functionality. That's why I'm going to buy a 3rd one.
I guess you own this phone right? If you do, how's the battery life? I've seen many comments on the internet where people are complaining about it's battery. Can it last long for one full day with normal usage?
I have this one and I am a proud owner. For my day to day use it is great companion and I have no problem for battery and performance at all.
I charge it daily once till 85% in the evening and is fine for next whole day for me for average use
So at the end you have to choose that how much your uses and decide.
