hi folks,
for those who have received their phone.. can someone confirm what kind of charger comes in the box? The One X came with the upgraded UK Pin charger where the usb port was at the bottom which I really like.. however on some of the unboxing videos I have seen on You Tube, it looks like they have included the HTC Desire like charger.. Is that right?
I have also noticed that the charger is black, it wouldn't have been bad if it was a white one atleast (the one that came with HTC Chacha)
Please advise

Yes, mine came with the Desire type, separate parts that you put together, with the USB port coming from the top.

Forgot to add that bit....it's Black.
that's a shame... wonder if they had surplus chargers from the old phones... lol
feel like its a step back.. either that or they chose it because of the slim box.. but why black??

Scotcruz, this is a discussion forum and therefore you must expect replies in whatever context, I chose my words carefully so as not to cause offense, I find your reply about my 4th 'valuable' post uncalled for, we all begin somewhere. This http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=246654&phone=246667 comes with the HTC One.
Oh and someone said about the newer ones charged the phones quicker?
Just to be specific, the 'New One Piece' and the '2 piece' chargers both run 5v 1a. So therefore the current is excactly the same. . .Source? Well . . . look at my handset list, and i have about 5 previous Chargers sat here. . . The One x charged quite quickly because of the small battery, the one takes slightly longer wich is understandable as it has a bigger capacity battery,
Regards to style. . . dont bother me, a charger is a charger. . . 2 piece is good for my bed side table as it adds about 1cm lengh in the cable. The one piece is good for my desk, as there is limited space in between the desk and wall . . .
But. . . its a charger, and i love it because it charges my HTC One!
hope this helps. . .

Lol.. I didn't say someone told me it charged quicker, I said " I felt it charged quicker" because when I first got the One X I was still using the charger for my HTC Desire (similar to the new Htc One Charger) and when it broke, I started using the new one that came with One X and felt it did indeed charge quicker.
But you are right, its down to the size of the battery.. so it doesn't really matter..
Its down to personal preference I suppose..
Hope Asda deliver my phone next week and not delay it again.. lol

With regards to the supplied charger, I find it depends where I charge my phone as to which charger I prefer. The one that comes with the One is good with wall sockets that are in cramped places (down the back of a shelf unit for downstairs for example), and the taller two piece plug suits me better beside my bed as it reaches further (good for reading while charging).
As has been mentioned though, amazon or eBay will sort you out of you decide you need one or the other.

Thanks mate.. I suppose thats right and since dobknobby has confirmed that the power and volts are the same on the charger it doesn't matter.. I've bought one from eBay so now I have two to play with.. Lol
i think i will buy a 2A charger. like the one which comes with Galaxy Note 2! the stock charger is slow, especially if i am using the device.
ive always used my ipad 2 charger on all my phones HTC/SAMSUNG and iphone. never had any issues with it. and in my opinion its one of the best reliable chargers out there.and i love the way you can change and add a longer extension power cord. very useful when in airports coffee shop etc.

who cares as long as it works and the power boost is well worth it
Since size and looks it's not a problem......
then why not carry a car battery.
A 66Ah varta will keep the hd2 running for about 5 monts without recharge and I think it will not be more expensive than the extended one from htc.

Denpendig on how you use the HD2, the powertraveler can charge up the HD2 about 1.5-2 times. With the Powergorilla (2000 MaH). 5-10 chargecycles can be achieved, again depending on how you use the HD2 and when you decide to charge your mobile. Both devices have built in overcharging protectors. So when the phone is fully charged, the charger will shut off. Both devices come with microusb adapter plugs.

uhhh pretty much sounds like it to me, just phone samsung and say your battery is discharging from full in under 5 hours and its a faulty battery. They'll ask for your phone serial number and then SHOULD send you a new battery completely free. At least they did for me now i've always got a spare battery in my pocket incase my phone dies.
I left it charging and its fine now. Im not sure what lasting damage has been done though!
If your cheap and in need of some extra power, I suggest ordering some backup batts from Hong Kong (ebay). I don't know what everyone's opinion on these non OEM batteries are here on these forums, but I have 2 in shipping right now and have read of other threads that they do the job. I just know I wont be charging these batteries IN my phone, just in the charger base the kit supplies.
I've also read some people making the valid point that if your willing to throw down the cashola on this phone initially, then u can afford the OEM batteries.... but I'm cheap

yup! that happened to me back then with my PalmOS phones
and also Windows phones
the problem is the USB connectors
some times if the USB connectors plugs in not aligned properly, it causes a weird charge & short of the battery, which results in the over heat, ultimately killing the battery.
Will HTC batteries of the same shape from other phones work on the Legend? Or how about the cheap ass batteries on ebay?

I dunno about other phones but I use like a $3 battery from ebay and the only difference is it runs out very very fast when you use wifi, gps, 3g etc etc. But you can get official ones (from memory) for like $20 or so.. The only reason I use the 2nd battery is cause I also bought a battery charger from ebay. So basically when one battery runs out I stick the fresh one in, and then stick the dead battery in the charger and plug it into the wall. That way I never have to wait for my phone to be charged, never have to plug it in, and yeah its basically always alive haha
Wow, it actually freakin works. Well, thanks for that! Say, has anyone ever seen official HTC batteries anywhere?

Who knows, there is link. But customers looks happy as you can see down on page. That battery is really cheap an also free shipping.. it looks like good deal, otherwise the Quality is 100% guaranteed. Its writen down on page
I brought a Mugen Power Battery for the HTC Legend, and then came across these two off Ebay, comes with 2 batteries, and an external 'dock' charger for the battery (NOT THE PHONE), they're 1500mah I believe so a bit more the stock Legend battery but not as much as Mugen, but I'll be using the Ebay batteries in case of emergancy if my battery runs out in the day and I need to go out at night.
Do you guys notice the overcharging chip in effect?

They claim 2340mah, which seems like a lot and it's not expensive. I'm tempted to try it for that kind of money.
I'd be very cautious about that, it is nearly twice the capacity which is very hard to believe given the dimensions...Li-Ion / Li-Pol technology couldn't get that far in those two years Legend is out

Since there are a lot of knockoffs on ebay I thought I would come in with a pleasant surprise. I bought http://item.mobileweb.ebay.ca/viewitem?itemId=130783773578this expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised at how well it works on my Note2. The only thing is the usb cord is not very long and you have to have it plugged in so that the phone is charging for it to work, but for the price is awesome.
I ordered one just like that off of ebay as well and it works for me too. They all have to be plugged in to power to work.
Well I learned something today. This is my 2nd Samsung phone and first experience with mhl adapter and didnt know it HAD to be plugged in. Thanks.

That's what's posted up a bit and mine wouldn't work without power source. Learning curve lol.
One thing I did notice is that even with it plugged in and "charging" after a couple hours on watching you tube the phone dropped from 80% to 72% battery so not really sure if it's charging or if it just takes that much power. I was using the wall charger that came with my phone so it should have been getting the 2 amps.
I think this mhl cord probably only allows 500ma. Something I use to counter that is this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nkahoang.screenstandby
It allows you to turn off your screen, because even on the lowest brightness it still eats up the battery.
Good thread. There are a couple on amazon like this as well
For those of you who shop at monoprice, their 11 to 5 pin adaptor is back in stock and they even bundle it with an mhl adaptor.
I can't link to it as I just registered here, but it's under accessories>cell phones

maybe it doesn't, but your way of thinking is flawed, and greedy.
charging cradle is using standard micro usb connection. 99% of the cables/chargers will work with it. everyone own a few at least, they come with nearly every device. micro usb is present on more than 90% of devices. you charge everything with one cable. yet you are trying to get the original charger - for no reason.
Again, your opinion has nothing to do with my question. My way of thinking isn't on trial here, I just asked a simple question and you're not contributing.

Buy it from someone that charges it from a standard micro-usb, having the original charger sitting unopened inside the box...

I guess I wasn't around whenever you were crowned "knower of all things usb and resale", strange though considering you obviously have no clue what you're talking about. First of all having the original box and original contents along with any item being resold greatly increases the overall chance of it selling, it reduces the amount of time it takes to sell, and most importantly items sold with their original box and contents on average bring in 15% - 30% MORE MONEY than the exact same items being sold without the original box and contents. So wow, just wow, it actually does make a difference whether you want to believe it or not. But I guess whenever you sell something of yours you just give it away for practically nothing because otherwise you'd be greedy right? Let me know whenever you're ready to sell your Gear because I'd be happy to give you $20 bucks for it! Secondly, just because a different cable might fit into the port doesn't mean that it'll work the same way. You're "any old cable will do" theory is kind of ridiculous considering cables by themselves have different resistances which alone could cause longer charge times and faster battery drain, and each adapter has it's own voltage and amp outputs which can also effect different devices in different ways. It's funny how none of those things ever crossed your mind yet somehow you're an authority on the subject. LOL Wow just wow!
