OK. So in stock roms, both H/W+ and S/W decoders in MX Player work without any issues. I have a few videos that are not playable with H/W decoder, so I really want S/W. I also prefer H/W+ because of the better playback. But on AOSP based roms none of them work. Is this the same in all non TW roms? Is there any solution? Or I should just give up?
I'm sorry if this was asked in the wrong section. Please help me. Thank you

Hello,
I have LG P990 with stock froyo.
When I play a xvid video (not HD), the video is smooth and the sound is ok but there is a constant 1 sec desynchrnisation. There is the same issue with RockLite player in hardware decoding mode, but in software decoding mode, the video is fine !!
How to solve this?
MIUI+Celebration+HD+2.0.5+DE-EN+iphone+Beta+2+signed
I have MIUI+Celebration HD+2.0.5 on my LG Speed and yes it´s a better version of Miui. Even better Galnet´s MIUI, and i can send the web link too those who wanna it.
What is the relation between your answer and my question? And for most people the leaked v20e or topogigi rom is the best choice.
No problem here, I converted a 1080p mkv song to xvid and it played perfectly without any audio delay. Try playing the file with Mxvideo player, thats the best media player for me.
I use Mx player too ! For all videos, I can always play them with either Hw or software mode.
Are you on stock or a custom rom. If on stock update it to the latest version.
Hi ive tried searching thru google I know that definitely the su660 has official LG firmware that allows it to play 4.1 High Profile MKV.
My question is did LG ever release a firmware with the same ability to play Hi Profile 4.1 Mkv for the Optimus 2x p990 and which firmware is it?
Id like to stay with stock firmware before i try custom roms.
Even diceplayer has a condition on its app page that HW acceleration will depend on the firmware so Please point me to the right stock firmware as most of my mkvs are HP 4.1.
And my low power pc is not strong enough for re-encoding.
This is my first android phone so please be nice i really tried searching thru all the forums before posting this question.
this forum post gave me some hope but the question hasnt been answered till now.
I just need 720p HP 4.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076867
The playback for 720p HP H.264 is still crappy and laggy because of the Tegra 2 not supporting that profile in h/w decoding. I don't know if there exists any firmware, that can smoothly playback those files. The only thing that could perhaps speed up playback is overclocking the cpu.
Youtube videos in 720p, that can be played within the browser are extremely laggy.
720p can only be played on base profile not high profile4.1

As said above, you might want to try MX Video Player that has codecs specifically designed for tegra2, still it will be software decoding but with oc you can still play them in 720p.
not only mx video player, but mobo player has also additional codec

Oh, I haven't tried that one yet ^^
Hi,
I have just flashed AOKP build 23 beta 2.02.
While the ROM is really great, I have one problem:
No matter what player I try, I can't manage to get HW decoding to work.
I searched around and seen mentions of this here and there but nothing conclusive.
Is it an ICS problem?
Has anyone encountered a player that works with HW decoding?
I tried dice-player, MX player , moboplayer and BSplayer with no luck.
Thanks a lot.
Hi !
I'm using Daroon Player, and there are options to set to HW decode each type ! It's free and works perfectly for me !
Thanks!
I will try it and report back how it went.
By the way, I'm using AOSP ROM (ICSSGS RC4.2), but I think it should work on your rom too !
I checked and it didn't work.
Are you sure you are using HW decoding?
Maybe it's a problem with the rom then...
So I checked some more into this problem.
It turns out that dice-player does support HW decoding but only if I don't use the seek.
If I try to move forward, it immediately switches to SW decoding.
Anyone else encounter this?
MX Video Player works very well with HW decoding SW(fast) is used only for rmvb movies.
@CM9 b16 (no matter which kernel).

hi
First of all i want to say that i don't wana to use players like bsplayer, dice player or mx player.
I want to watch a movie in built-in player or m video player.
The thing is that these movies are working good on stock 2.2.1.
And one time is working for me on 2.3.6 (but i forgot on what rom and now i can't find it)
Maby some one know what to do to watch that type of movies.
MX player play this only in Sw mode.
One developer say's that this is maby kernel feature.
I think this could be some video drivers.
I recall that GamerzRom was able to play 720p mkv very well, but not with a stock player, it was with Moboplayer rather.
I don't think any stock player will be able to play 720p mkvs, due to the lack of hardware decoding support without proper codecs (Samsung does slap in quite a few already, but unfortunately not for MKV IIRC, presumably due to it possibly sucking too much RAM).
I guess your best bet would be to try that ROM with a 3rd party player like MoboPlayer, Dice player or MX player.
ok, i like the rom , video speed is little better but it still lagging and played in software mode
look at the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz-mh1RzmpA
It works just fine for me. On ICS CM9 with mx player. Very smooth and clear!

maby more info?
becouse i don't think that .mkv is playing smoothly for u.
Try this: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=torrentinfo&tid=322020
Diceplayer
i'm using devil kernel with XL memory and without any problems. 720p videos work perfectly with Video player and Diceplayer.
So try and see if devil kernel helps you out too.
Good Luck
for me on CM9+devil's kernel 720p movies runs smooth without any problems, I'm using MXplayer.
slim ics + devil3 +mx player or dice player and video playback (.mkv, anime) is terrible.

mx player does support hw decoding, sometimes i have to stop the video close mx player then restart the video then hw decoding option will become available. i dont know why this is but it always works. i dont use any addons just straight mx player install.
