No OS, stuck on HTC load screen

Hey everyone. I know I totally screwed up. So I got my Phone today. HTC One from Sprint. I went to unlock bootloader. Success, but when I went to install a custom rom I went to do a wipe, I guess I wiped the wrong thing. So now I don't have a OS, and stuck in TWRP because it won't load. Is there a way to push the rom to the phone and install from there? Or do I need a RUU? Or best bet is try to get a new phone?

You will have to Adb push vipers rom in twrp. Lmn if you need some more help

I have ran into a similiar problem except I cannot get into TWRP I used the all in one tool and it starts to open for a split second, then I go into a bootloop. I have tried to flash TWRP again bust still no luck. I also reinstalled htc drivers because when I try to run boot into recovery command from the all in one tool, it tells me device not detected. I think this is strange since it finds it to flash twrp but not anything else. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The majority of the people having this isdue are using the wrong AIO. Theyre using the international and not sprint. There are two aios on the download page

So installing a custom rom will fix my problem or does a rom run off the stock OS? Or does it use its own OS so once I can install it, it will work?

I'm using the Sprint AIO.

Easiest way is to download HTC One (Sprint) All-In-One Toolkit V1.0 then see where is says Extras there is an option thats says ADB Sideload a ROM just load the ROM is really simple just read the instructions carefully.
Make sure you have proper Drivers Installed and you are on the screen of ADB Sideload a ROM on TWRP

You should try another USB Port/USB Cable make sure you have the HTC Drivers installed, I would try this:
Disconnect Phone try another USB Port/USB Cable
Reboot phone into Recovery
Open All-In-One Toolkit V1.0 Select Extras ---> ADB Sideload a ROM
On TWRP go to Advance ---> ADB Sideload (Select Wipe Dalvik Cache/Wipe Cache)
Select RUN on ADB Sideload select ROM and the ROM transfer should work (you should see a sideload.zip file thats the ROM)
If that doesn't work probably someone with more knowledge can help you.

I had a similar issue and had to install my rom with the ADB Sideload option.

I as well am getting a unable to mount data issue which is not allowing me to push anything using adb sideload...and when using the all in one toolkit I got a message saying
adb server is out of date. killing...

error: closed
granted I have been awake for about 26 hours now so i may have just missed something but any advice would be very helpful
EDIT - Figured out that you need to do wipe of pretty much everything by going to wipe>advanced>and selecting everything, then do a adb sideload, worked like a charm

Have been trying for 2 days and looking at post but haven't been able to get it fixed.
Here goes.
I have been playing around with custom roms on my htc one for a while now.
Then when i was about to install a new custom rom, i first wiped my phone.
I properly wiped something that should not be wiped, because i ended up with no os and no custom rom zip file that i could install in twrp.
I then tryed sideloading revolutions, and it seemed to work because it ended up booting on the phone and i could select what programs too install with it... but halfway through it stoped and rebooted.
now i cant even get into recovery anymore, and booting the phone only gets it to htc briliant logo. Then it restarts and tryes going into recovery, but it cant, and ends up just restarting over and over again.
Tryed flashing cwm and twrp again, but still cant get into recovery.
adb dont fint my device, and i have tryed all drivers i could find.
Tryed using a RUU, but it fails. Properly because its not the right one, but cant fint one that fits.
Sooo... i think im in a real pickle right now.
my radio is :4a.14.3250.13
hboot: 1.44.0000
Thinking about going back with my phone, but with the warranty gone i dont know if they'll even look at it.
Hoping for some advise, or some ideas on what to do.

try reboot recovery if that doesnt work install cwm non touch. i love twrp but i had the same issue with it and i havent had it with cwm

So i tryed installing cwm the non touch version. but it says the same thing as twrp.
And that is that it cant mount /sdcard/

i dont think that is a problem. im not absolutely sure about that but what is the next step you trying to accomplish

Well, im really just trying to get an os flashed back on the phone so i can boot it, either by another custom rom or a stock rom.
But since i cant use adb commands, how do i get a new rom on there?

i have had the same problem. what i did is in twrp recovery go to wipe --- format data --- type yes (WARNING you will lose all your files)

adb sideload
its an option in the all in one tool kit but its easier or you can type the command

i think it it will be over after 3 more posts. plug your phone in. then open all in one toolkit and select adb sideload then just follow the on screen instructions

Okay, did the side loader, and used android revolutions rom. It installed and and after staying on boot animation a few minnuts it started.

I unlocked the bootloader, I think used the all in one toolkit to flash the recovery. When that didn't work, I erased the cache and manually flashed the recovery, and it said it pushed successfully.
I am at a loss, I have no idea what to try next, any help would be appreciated.
******Finally got it, I had to disable Fast Boot in the Power options in Settings******

How do you copy update.zip from external to internal SD?
Sorry if it's a total no-brainer, but how do I manually copy a recovery zip to the internal update.zip? Can I do this from my phone (which is stuck in a bootloop: see below)? Or do I have to use ADB with my computer?

My situation:
Using Open Recovery I tried to install CM7 with custom kernel on my XT720
It gave an error: "assert failed: write_raw_image... Status 7" As I was looking that up, my phone blackscreened. After a while I pulled the battery.
Then on startup it went into a bootloop after a picture of a broken screen saying "2ndboot kernel restart in progress." (Presumably the kernel wasn't properly applied?)
Trying to boot into bootloader says battery is too low.
Phone will only turn on when plugged into outlet.
What I think I need to do:
- Copy a good update from my external SD over the bad update.zip on the internal SD, and apply the update to reset the kernel, etc.
- Open Recovery could do this, if I could load it.
- I could load Openrecovery if I could get the bootloader to run,
- I could get the bootloader to run if my battery would charge

[Q] No OS, not rooted

So, my dad bought an HTC One from a seller on EBay. The phone was originally on Sprint, but it was unlocked; when he got the phone, it didn't work initially, and after he and my mom trouble shooted for a bit, they got it working. Those are the only details I know; I don't know what the problem was.
After they got it working, my dad did something to the phone, and it froze up completely. He let the battery drain, and then I went to work. When I got back, he had wiped the OS, and the only thing it can do is boot into TWRP v2.5.0.0. I don't know what else he did, or what else he tried.
Here's my problem; I can't flash a ROM on it, because, somehow, it's unrooted. Every time I power it down, TWRP says "Your device is unrooted." I researched a bit on how to root it from that point; but, to do that, you need an OS, which somehow, I do not have. It seems like, to get the phone rooted, I need an OS, and to get an OS, I need it rooted.
So, I tried do use the ADB sideload that a lot of people recommended. I downloaded the SDK packages, I ran Command Prompt, I've tried it at least 30 times by now, but it will not pick up the phone. When I do the "adb devices" command, it has nothing listed. I tried pushing the ROM anyway, just to see, and it fails because, again, "no devices found." I've tried wiping the cache and dalvik, rebooting into recovery, and trying the rooting and the ADB stuff over again, numerous times, and neither one works.
The only thing I haven't tried is doing a RUU; but, before I do that, I decided to ask here, and get some help. The RUU seems extremely complicated, and I don't even know if it will work.
I'll be the first to admit, I really don't know much about Android, or any of this. I've flashed ROMs, and that's about it. So, can anyone tell me what I should try, and if the RUU would work? If it would, can you link me to a guide?

If you hold down the power button while pressing the vol- button, does it load the Bootloader, a white screen with options.

Are you using Windows 8.1? Because if you are fastboot only works on HTC devices with 1.54 and up on 8.1. I was messing with my DNA this weekend and realized that adb picks it up if I'm in twrp but if I'm in the boot loader I get no device found. I also have an HTC one which isn't rooted and adb can pick it up in Windows 8.1 in normal debug mode and while I'm also in the boot loader. I'm using usb 2.0 so make sure that is what you plug it in to. Otherwise, there are driver issues with adb and fastboot in 8.1 and htc has not updated their drivers for it.
Other option is to download a live CD of Linux and try sideloading a Rom through there.

If you're problem is not having root , then try flashing a supersu.zip through recovery. That should enable root access you're able to enter recovery.

I thought twrp provided root, anyways theres any option in advanced I think you can sideload a rom via adb push. It's something like adb sideload "name of rom sideloading.zip" and I don't think you need to be rooted to sideload.

Root doesn't come with recovery and can be lost sometimes upon flashing a new rom. That's why the supersu.zip exists.

Yes upon initial install. But I know some ROMs which say you lose that root access after flashing it and tell you to flash the supersu.zip in order restore it.

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a root checker if their root files could be deleted? I'm pretty sure it's built into the recovery. I could be dead wrong, never ran into a custom rom that's never been with out root.

i dont get why you need Root to install a ROM? flash a ROM in TWRP by going to Advanced -> ADB Sideload. have a ROM on your PC where the adb and fastboot files are and type in "adb sideload name_of_rom.zip"
select reboot system when it is flashed, when it asks for root select "Do Not Install", and it should reboot into your flashed rom

My initial understanding was that OP could not get adb working to sideload a Rom. Usually twrp will ask upon reboot to install su if it detects root has been lost.

If you can't get adb to work, then you should buy a USB-OTG adapter.
With the USB otg you would be able to connect a USB-Stick to the one and mount it in the recovery.

I downloaded a file called "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip" from a website called "chainfire"; I'd post a link, but I can't do that until I hit 10 posts.
Then I installed it, and it was successful. Then I tried installing a ROM; and it failed again. Then I wiped everything, rebooted, re-installed the SuperSU, rebooted, and tried installing the ROM; it failed again. Also, every time I restart, TWRP still says it is not rooted, and gives the option to root it. I always opt to root it, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Checking for MD5 file...

there's an option in TWRP where you can toggle signature validation off/on. try and turn it off then run the zip.

Root is needed AFTER you install your ROM. I think you have a corrupted zip file. Sideload a ROM but after you download it check the md5 to see if its downloaded correctly. You needed to read more bro. Sounds to me you are very new to this.

You actually don't need root to flash a Rom. Sounds like a bad download like the other dude said.

You should be able to install any rom you want as long as you're able to flash zips from the recovery, even if there's no OS installed, that just means the system and boot partitions are empty and they can be easily filled with a rom zip. And root is something that comes with the rom or something you can install after you flash a rom. You don't need root to flash if you can already boot into TWRP.

I dont mean to sound rude, really, but so what? you can download and transfer a ROM to your twrp recovery via regular file transfer, adb sideload, or adb push. so download what you need, choose a method, then transfer it to your phone. you dont have other options, besides for flashing a factory image.

Why did you install a custom recovery if you haven't unlocked your phone?
It seems to me you should start by downloading the appropriate factory image from Google. And flash everything (with the exception of boot loader) from inside your boot loader. Press and hold the power button while it's on, this will set a reboot. While the screen is black, press and hold power and volume down. This will get into boot loader.
Let us know if you need assistance on how to flash the factory images.

I had my phone rooted and unlocked, but I reset everything and that's when it happened.

first off, look at your recovery, you should be able to find a mtp and a adb sideload option. mtp would be the regular file transfer. you can google adb sideload twrp, and youll find instructions on that. or you can try googling adb push, and you will find instructions. thats the one i normally would use(but its been a long time), ive deleted my os before as well :angel:

first off, look at your recovery, you should be able to find a mtp and a adb sideload option. mtp would be the regular file transfer. you can google adb sideload twrp, and youll find instructions on that. or you can try googling adb push, and you will find instructions. thats the one i normally would use(but its been a long time), ive deleted my os before as well :angel:

reflashing stock via wugs nexus tool as bricked should help.
(this helped me, just read it didnt help you, did you try as bricked/softbricked? (sorry not sure what it is))

Overkill. You can just put a ROM zip on the sdcard and flash it via TWRP recovery

sdcard with no sdcard slot & support? lol... you cant put anything on the phone with no internal storage either...

Internal storage is called sdcard. All you need to do is boot TWRP and connect to PC. You should see your internal storage on your PC then. Drag and drop your ROM from PC to internal storage. Flash ROM, profit.

/sdcard is a common directory mounted at /data/media/0. TWRP has MTP access so like android, you plug it into the computer and drag files across. You don't need to remove it to do that.
...and indeed you are right, if you delete the "internal storage"/as s it shows up as in MTP mode, you would have to flash stock (though we'd recommend using fastboot not toolkits) however that is not the case here. The user said he deleted " everything" via TWRP. Although there is an option to "wipe" internal storage, this only wipes the /sdcard data - NOT deletes "internal storage" as someone can do on a computer. So yeah, the quickest and best way to recover from "deleted OS" is to put a ROM.zip on the sdcard and flash it.

Will someone please refer me to a download for Android 5.0. I've tried some, but all the sites are block by my internet provider.

There is only one legitimate site for Google factory images, and it's linked below. I don't understand why any provider would block it...
And why do you want 5.0? That is the original, release version for the Nexus 6? What version are you on, today? If you are on 5.1 or higher, and you decide to downgrade, do not downgrade your bootloader, as it could brick your device.

I've only had my Nexus for around 3 weeks and I've not updated from 5.0 yet.

Doesn't matter. You've got NO OS now, so just flash the latest. If you're wanting to keep TWRP and dead set against flashing a ROM.zip from recovery as I've suggested, just flash the system and boot image from the factory images.
Can we get it done already?

please help installing twrp

i have followed directions to the best of my knowledge, i had twrp already installed but i wanted to update to 20V i was running 20Q, so i used lgup and did a refurbished option. I am running windows 10, i installed minimal adb, adb recognizes my phone, my phone was unlocked and after doing lg up it stayed unlocked, so i proceed to booting into twrp from fastboot, it does boot into twrp i even installed su V279 and updated it thru google play, my problem is when i go to do fastboot flash recovery xxx.img i get writing recovery failed, even if i flashify it does not install twrp i do get root permission according to su. I havent been able to past that, when i try to reboot into twrp with buttons or application phone shuts down and instead of going to twrp lg logo blinks for a second and then phone restarts to normal operation, what am i doing wrong? i been playing on this for days now, thanks in advance
ps, i even installed the rooted 20V from here still same result, unable to flash twrp

weird but i downloaded twrp for 811-815 thru the phone ap, twrp app and i flashed it with same app and it worked, i have no clue what went on, but i tried different downloads and all fail til just now, thank God!

ok please dont do what i did, twrp did flash but it is for 815, i installed it cause app said it was for both, and it wont let me flash h811 files, will continue to work on it, starting from scratch

Thank you for your suggestion i will try after work. I was able to use fastboot boot twrp.img and it load as it should, but my issues is i want permanent twrp, thats why i did the flash recovery

problem solved, i tried your twrp and had same issue, it will boot but was not writing to phone, i read somewhere, after unlocking the bootloader to save twrp on the phone and then after booting into twrp with fastboot boot twr.img to use twrp file manager and copy from phone to external sd card, i tried that and it worked! now i have permanent twrp. I believe something happens when i tried to copy the file from my computer to my external sd, either my sd card is not working properly and doesnt write everything or some files just dont get transferred cause i copy and paste using file manager app from phone to sd and didnt work. I'm glad i have twrp back in my phone! Thank you raptorddd for helping

yes you need to have both files i use minimal adb so i place one in that folder and other in external sd .. or internal. then selecting install and lower it says image. then it ask you to select. then select recovery and flash install. and youll have permanent twrp.
could it be that you use USB 3.0 or win10.? i know that for KDZ and LGUP it has problems.. your welcomed you should try G5 port rom from astrako.:good:
the h811 vaariant.

I could have been usb3 as you said I was using Windows 10, I had no problems with lg up though. And sure I will try the g5 port as soon as I get a chance, thank you again!
