Hi.
I bought a xperia v recently and now I want to install apps to the external memorycard.
I have found out that this is not possible without rooting my phone. right?
If I need to root my phone to be able to see the external sd-card I need some help.
- point me to a good and "safe" tutorial on how to root my phone.
I have no need for anything fancy and homebrewed except being able to use the external sd-card.
Please, help me out here so I can use my phone without constant messages about "move to internal memory......"
Thanks in advance.
First of all this should be in the Q&A. Secondly use the search. There are plenty of root methods.
Humans have evolved to be smarter, but there's one thing we can't get rid off. It's human stupidity.

I absolutely love my N1 and wouldn't change it for anything else; if only I hadn't this disk space problem.
I have a N1, 2.3.6 GRK39F, rooted but with the original ROM. I have ROM Manager installed but I have not flashed any custom recovery yet. I used root right to uninstall few programs, for TB etc.
I have the APP2SD app from market which I used to move apps to SD card, but I still get the low space error and I can't move anything to SD anymore. This is really annoying me.
Can anybody tell me step by step, what I can do to resolve? Please take into consideration that I already moved my apps to SD using the APP2SD application.
Thanks a lot.
Please insert "A2SD" into search box, and go over the results.
Also, please read Nexus One FAQ, question 9. And while you're at it, use the link - it'll eventually bring you to the thread to read.

I use FolderMount to move my apps and data to SDCard.
To do that, you have to root your phone. One of my main reason, why I rooted my ZR.
1 thing you should know about this app: you can only move 3 apps/data to SD. You have to buy the premium app to get more than 3, but it's worth it.
hey if you have not rooted yet check this out

I really would like to know does this method works or not

I tested it before I rooted my phone. It does change the install location if you check it with:
Code:
adb shell pm get-install-location
But after that, I didn't manage to move the apps or installing the apps directly to SD.
I tested it with the android version 4.2.2, so I don't know if it works with 4.1.2.
Is it possible?
Really struggling with space on my Z1 right now.

No, this has been mentioned a few times. You need to have root to be able to install apps on SD. Once you root you can use Folder Mount or GL to SD

And even if sony would add the feature like samsung and some others did
For example on the sgs4 you can put apps on sd but it will only add the .apk to your sd (i gues you have some heavy games that use your space)
The .obb files still will be on internal sd
So i guess the only way is using foldermoun(or something like that) but that will need root
But keep in mind if you root your phone and don't unlock the bl and you have some problems with the phone and flash stock rom trough xperiatool you will have guarantee

I have never actually used the function myself, but there is a thread dedicated to the topic:

From what I found you might have to use this fix for it to work.
Ok so after reading about the limitation on kit kat regarding sd card, i got really confused being a newbie in technical aspects so i was hoping people here can shed a light on my questions:
1. Is the touchscreen issue fixed on kitkat?
2. If i update right now to kitkat, will all my pictures and mp3 saved in sd card be still readable and playable? Or will they be gone? Some people reported breaking sd card after updating.
3. Can i still download music and use file comando(never ised that app before) to move files to sd card?
4. If i use stock camera, images are still saved in sd right?
5. If i have an app moved to sd, and updated the app after updting to kitkat, will i still lose my saved files?
6. Does this limitation mean that we can no longer download files bigger than the internal memory of the phone? Isnt that going to make our xperia z1 useless if you have big apps and only have like 2g internal memory left??
7. I read something about apps can still write on your sd if they make a private folder but i dont understand it. So does this mean we can still download files directly to sd if the app supported kitkat?
Those are some of the questions i have for now. Please please someone answer me cause im really confused.. Thank you.
Search the forum...all questions will be answered if you put a little effort to it

1. It was fixed already in .136 4.3, if you still have problems go via Warranty.
2. Yes, with some specific applications.
3. No, you have to get root.
4. I think so.
5. How did you moved the apps to SD? it was never possible from 4.2.2.
6. Ask Google.
7. You are will not be allowed to write to SD until you get Root and modified system to do it. Search on Z1 section, is there.
Best answer for all your question is: Do not Update to KK.
Hi! I'm new here. I'd like to ask several questions.
1. I have a rooted phone with xposed installed and I want it to be able to move game's data to SD card particularly data files. I heard that Obb on SD could do the job but could they also detect Android/data not just obb? Because that's where all modern games kept their data.
2. I have a non-rooted phone MITO A35 (Android Pie) and I want it to be rooted but it seems twrp doesn't support my phone. I searched for rooting without twrp but finding my device boot.img is quite hard. Is there any way other than twrp or fastboot PC to root?
Thanks in advance.
For the first one if the phone is running a android version under 4.4.4 then you arent gonna be able to move apps to the SDCard if you are running anything more recent it already has it built in.
For the second you might aswell try those click to root apps, I know it isnt really the best option but it still works if you succeed you might aswell use one of those flash root apps to flash your twrp.
