Hi,
Ok, so you updated to Jelly Bean, and you're trying to restore an ICS image to a ROM slot? I don't think that ICS will work on your phone anymore once you've upgraded to Jelly Bean, which is probably why you're getting a black screen and no boot. That's my understanding anyway...anybody else agree?
Can I ask why you want to restore the image if you've updated?

Milestone stuck on logo.

Hi, I have a milestone and this morning the phone was just stuck on the logo.
I'm using stock rom and I didn't do any to it. But I have noticed the phone rebooting and hanging on itself when I update apps from the market. I do have androidrini (spellcheck?) recovery installed and when i try to restore my old backups, it says MDS check fail?
I managed to restore a very very old backup but it's still stuck on the logo. I'm afraid to wipe because I may lose the recovery menu.
Thanks!

When you wipe through OR or recovery, the phone's data is wiped clean. Your SD card stays the same way it was, so you will not lose OR at all.

[Q] Why can't update CM7?

I've got CM7 RC10 Installed on my MM. I tried to upgrade it to RC11 but the phone stuck at boot loader so I rolled it back with nandroid. Anybody knows the reason or can help me?

Your phone shouldn't be stuck at bootloader when you're flashing a ROM. Go into recovery and wipe both caches and apply the update then reboot.

I just used RSD Lite v4.9 to flash GOT 2.2.1 on my phone. It works fine and rooted with GOT's OR. Then I wanted to try and apply the cm7 update and I have gone though all the steps listed in all the various guides but when I reboot the phone it will first go strait into recovery mode, stock, and another restart will get me stuck on the M. Does this mean my sbf is bad? I have tried different cm7 .zip files for the milestone with no luck.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
Have you made factory reset?

Issues with Safestrap - How to get phone booting properly?

So I just got this phone, and I've been trying to get it up to ICS. I've gone through and was able to complete the ICS update the first time completely, installed Safestrap, etc. Now this is where the issues came in. I did a backup, and then I started restoring some apps from titanium, from an old phone. This is where I started getting constant force closes. Tried fix permissions, went through again, same issue. So I wiped the phone, and went to restore with safestrap - it failed. Now on bootup, it refuses to even boot into safestrap anymore. All I can get is either a blank screen, or motorola recovery menu. By the fact that I can get into the motorola recovery menu, I presume it's not fully bricked, but I know there can be issues with installing on top of Safestrap.
Long story short, my question: In this condition, will flashing the same file I did during the ICS leak installation through Moto Recovery allow the phone to boot? Or will that cause a brick like downgrading from ICS does?
So, just to be sure, you installed one of the ICS leaks correct? Then you installed safestrap 2.0?

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Was able to boot up into Safestrap (2.0) and restore through Safestrap, but after wiping /data I got errors with restoring a backup, and after rebooting to attempt it again, Safestrap splash screen no longer appears for me. It has the initial splash, and where the Safestrap splash should be, it just stays blank screen.
Not sure what would have caused this. I don't think you'll be able to flash the zip again since it looks for a .219 system build. Might be worth a shot though. You could also try booting into recovery and doing a factory reset. If neither of those work, try following the instructions for upgrading from one leak build to another.

Tried Factory reset already, and attempted just flashing the update anyways - got an error saying build.prop file was invalid/missing?
Now I'm going through the tool steps to swap between ICS builds. At least I'll hopefully get something working.
Though I did do a step I forgot to mention, if that explains why it happened. After the Safestrap restore failed, I tried to do a partial restore of /system and /data. /system restored fine, when I went to do /data it said it was restoring /system in the log - could that have been an issue? A possible mistake in safestrap that overwrote the wrong folder? Or just an issue with the menu?
Doing the ICS switch got it working for me. Now to attempt round 2 and see if I can get into CM9, and Safestrap works right.
More research, root cause : Forgot to install busy box when doing the initial root.
Glad you got it working!

phone won't boot after flashing cm10 and going back to stock via nandroid

Hi guys,
I just need some short advise:
My dad flashed CM10 nightly a few days ago.
Before that he had a stock froyo rom (i don't know which version exactly) but with root and CWM.
Flashing CM10 worked but he had same bugs (baseband deleted, reboots every 10 minutes), so he flashed CM9 stable hopeing to get these things right. but it didn't, baseband was still gone. So he decided to restore his nandroid backup and go back to his froyo stock.
but that ended in a total disaster and the phone won't boot anymore. it is stuck at the white "Galaxy S" screen (before boot animation).
My dad said, that he tried to restore his backup a 2nd time. but he got many errors including "unknown volume for path /data"
He is a little bit frightened that he could brick his phone completely so he asked me for help.
Well, I don't know what to do besides flashing a stock gingerbread rom + kernel +baseband/modem with Odin.
Am I right with this? Or do you guys got some other advise for me.
thanks for help
try factory reset must done after restore
are you sure?
shouldn'd this be done before restore?
by doing a wipe, I would need to do 2 restors in order to keep my apps..
As the partition layout of CyanogenMod and stock are different, and thus stock partition layout is needed, you have to flash stock using Odin with pit512 and partition enabled. After that restore should work as well.
Besides: If baseband is missing in CM, try to flash a CM modem.

yes, you need to be on a GB 2.3.6 to upgrade to CM, so use a recovery kit , link below on MY android collections to recover and have a working phone before think moving on to CM
Galaxy S I9000 won't boot after cm10
Hi
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I've searched, but have no phone now, it won't boot after installing CM10 28/12/2012. It was running, but I wanted to do a nand restore, it said it couldn't find the backup.
It now won't boot, it's stuck on the original Galaxy S GT-I9000 boot screen
This is really urgent (I know... like everything else)... can anyone help me PLEASE??
Thanks

Bootlooping

I tried to update my brothers phone to 4.4 from 12B because he kept saying that it would try to update but would fail which I didn't understand why because he only had root but that's not the problem. I installed TWRP and made a backup right away. I then installed the boot stack from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408 then rebooted and was bootlooping. So, I put it in recovery mode and think I probably messed something up so I'll just restore the backup I made. I restore it and everything is looking good no errors or anything until I go to reboot it and it's still bootlooping. I'm stuck here because everything I've tried has failed.
I recommend following the restore to stock instructions (the tot method going to 11a then OTA to 12b) in the general section. Then use Cloudy's Malidus 2.0.2 files to update to 4.4.2.
