wife broke screen. Can't get proximity sensor to work after replacement

My wife broke her new droid 4.
I ordered a replacement screen from repairs universe.
I followed instructions. put the phone back together.
Everything seems to work fine except:
When you make a call to or from the phone, the screen instantly goes black. If you are calling from the droid, the listener can not hear. If you are calling to the droid, the reverse happens. So I have a hunch that the proximity sensor isn't working right.
Speaker phone works perfectly. Plug in a set of headphones and make a call, and that works great too.
I took the phone all the way apart again, and couldn't find anything that I covered up with the double sided tape.
I looked around and couldn't find where the proximity sensor is to see if I had messed it up.
Any help would be appreciated.
It's possible you broke the cable that connects to the proximity sensor.
Do you know if the light and prox sensors are on the chip that's connected to the glass or on the motherboard on the droid 4?
I can't seem to find that answer anywhere

Hardware problems

I switched from a purple tint HTC one to this new HTC butterfly s. Here are hardware problems I've encountered.
- purple tint is present 15% of the time in low light conditions especially when the phone is hot .
- when in dark areas, you can see the capacitive touch buttons illuminating the bottom of the screen before the screen turns on.
Anybody else experienced these things? I love the look and speed of HTC products compared to Samsung. But I think theyre not consistent with hardware production

sadly these problems are quite common
1.Yes I get purple tint on my camera but it's just zebra stripes in EXTREMELY low light after prolonged use of the phone. The camera naturally prefers a slight purple tint auto white-balance in some light, this is not that unusual because my camcorder do this as well. Under lowlight with HDR video, unfortunately, the purple tint is totally obvious through the whole image, not just stripes.
2. That's also quite normal.
Additional problems I've had:
1. audio clipping at high volumes with heavy bass (it seems users of the M8 are also reporting this)
2. Touch screen responsiveness with keyboard. (sometimes it lags or "sticks" a bit if you type too fast)

Touch screen don't lag or stick for me it's jus too fast

It's because I have sweaty hands and a screen protector.
I also noticed some stuck pixels on my unit, but it's too late to replace it now.
Don't use screen protector it causes problems when typing

I had serious purple tint, HTC replace the cam and now it had zero purple tint. Quite sure it is a hardware fault at least in my case

Is this a normal hardware problem or physical damage?
Fresh out of the box, headphone jack seemed to make a crackling when a headphone plug is spun around but that went away pretty quickly. Now, after months of use, the headphone jack seems to be going too deep for some headphones, causing this buzz sound and left channel to be cut off, unless the plug is in the right place, but it buzzes/cuts off when the headphone plug is touched slightly. It's especially bad with headphones that have an inline mic/remote. It also seems to have become rather loose now...
Has anyone else experienced this?

This sounds perfectly normal to me. I noticed this with most new audio jacks, be it new earphones or new phone or laptop or whatever. It's perfectly reasonable, though – when a new jack comes fresh out of factory, its surface is not perfectly smooth and by twisting it around, the resistance in the contact changes a bit, resulting in crackling. After a while, the surface gets smoothed out a bit by friction and the effect disappears.

This, on the other hand, really appears to be a mechanical failure.
yeah =/ I'm not sure if it would be under warranty either because it might have resulted me from accidentally pulling out the headphones a few times (happens when I'm commuting and need to make a run). It also depends heavily on the kind of headphones I use. Just bought a new pair of (cheap) earphones today and the plug went too deep causing the left channel to be cut off. A more "sturdy" plug does not do this although it may still buzz if pressed hard into the headphone jack.
I can also see something greyish and red at the bottom - only visible when a light is shined through. It might be dust and paint.
I've seen some reports that this is reported on HTC One M7 and some other phones, with one mod being to put a layer of tape on top of the headphone jack so the plug doesn't go in as deep or attaching rings to the bottom of the headphone plug.

Speaker not working after Display replacement

So i replaced my display after an accident and with that my speaker are not working anymore. I did not remove the top speaker but the bottom one who has two gold contacts which connect underneath the logic board to it after its placed.
If i am not mistaken both speakers are seperately connected to the logic board (top one with contacts to the frame with nfc and then to the logic board) but i did not touch the top speaker so its even more confusing. I also did not remove the mesh on the front like in some videos, so i removed the display with letting the mesh in place. Everything else (even the audio Jack) is functioning.
Maybe you can help me solve the problem or giving me tips to identify the problem here? I did not find the bottom speaker online, but the metal frame (where everything is screwed in, WITH top speaker) and the frame with nfc.
Thank you for your helping.

I am facing different situation after screen replace..my wide camera and selfie camera not working..there is no option in camera to pass to wide camera..do you connect the middle frame with screws? Its need to stick to the board..i will happy if someone can help me with my problem
Well in your case you have to check the connection of the flex cables from your cameras. I did connect the middle frame with the screws, if not NFC wouldn't work.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem
Anyone found a solution?
Edit: screen the motherboard cover on tightly, don't lose any screws! Some of the audio circuitry and camera circuitry appear to need the motherboard cover.

Question Shaking / rattling sound of camera module

My Redmi Note 10 Pro makes some sort of rattling or shaking sound as if something were loose inside the camera module when I put it down (on a hard surface such as table, doesn't even have to be forceful).
I can also tap on the inner side of the camera module to produce that sound.
Is that the camera stabilizer? Does anyone else have this rattling?
It really doesn't sound healthy, but everything wokres fine...

I do feel the same. Weird, but, oh well.
I only hear it when I put the phone done with a bit more force, putting it down normally or tapping (even strongly) doesn't produce that sound.
Same here. I tend to think (hope?) it's the stabilizer as well...
Yep, mine arrived today. I also noticed the rattling when I tap on the camera module and when I put the phone down on a hard surface..
My rattle is pretty significant even with only gently placing my phone onto a surface. Did anybody get their issue sorted?

I don't think it's an issue, just how it was designed. It was the same with my last Xiaomi phone and it's still like new after 3 years.
Mine too

How To Guide Virtual proximity sensor - potential fix

Dear all,
I had problems with my Note 10 virtual proximity sensor over the last months and it went worse from day to day.
Reading details in how the sensor works, I tried to figure out what might cause it not working properly.
The sensor seems to use the top ear phone speaker to broadcast ultrasonic sound and detecting whether it reflects.
So this lead me to the assumption, that a dirty speaker might cause trouble.
Now that speaker is so small that cleaning it is difficult.
This is what I tried:
I took a very small needle and rubbed it from left to right and back and forth on that speaker. I tried to get off as much dirt and dust as possible from it very small holes.
Difficult approach, but you might try that a well. A needle, some cleaning liquid, something to blue away that dust.
After I tried I first noticeably that the ear phone speaker was much louder again and testing with a WhatsApp voice message and with the CIA test menu, the sensor reacted much much better.
I'll give it some more days of testing but wanted to share those thoughts with you!
Let me know if you also have success
Best regards,
Christian
is there any fixed or module?
Promoting my app that blocks screen during phone calls.
It will help to minimize effects from non-reliable ultrasonic proximity sensor.
So even if screen suddenly turns on you'll not press something by ear or cheek.
