Hello, im a new xv user here, and may 1 ask about the water resistant of the xv? Do you recomended for the first time, to put the device in a bowl of water? Anyone has tried and have problem? I just want feedback, coz its still new. Im abit afraid about it.
Haha it is confirmed water resistant. Placed it underwater and it's okay with the flaps closed if course. The thing is for me, the flaps start being loose.
Humans have evolved to be smarter, but there's one thing we can't get rid off. It's human stupidity.
I got my flaps and metal rim replaced twice for free. Just a pain in the rear end to live without a phone for 2 weeks each time.

Yea. At least in Sony Singapore. The funny thing is that they only started fixing my phone after I made a complain over the phone and finished it in 2 hours. Why don't you yell at them to get them to expedite the fixing
thanks for all you reply dude.:good: ill put my device in the water as soon as i get it today! the reason why im bought this device just only for that water resistant since im a biker and the qualcomm chipset. by the way, Aaron_035 do singapore sony center sell the xv charging dock? coz here in malaysia is abit hard to find it.
If you are unsure, you can always put it in a sealable bag first before youput it in the water.
At least if the flaps are insecure that will keep it waterproof

If you want faster go to junction 8, bishan, their Xperia HQ. Keep in mind they will loan you a k 330. Be sure to tell them to finish it in a week or they would take their own sweet time v

Anyone did this?

I took mine off straight away, I dont think it has a use other than letting you know it has nfc. It came off pretty easy. Pretty much fell off.

Thanks for the tip. The sticker became ugly after only 2 days. Nice to read that I could take it off. The back looks a lot better without.

I really don't understand why sony puts those ugly stickers on the back. Ok, it has NFC, we got it
Maybe they thought it was too damn sexy without those?
I think it's better then embedding the nfc logo into the phone.

Same reason why every company thinks it's necessary to put all those stickers on laptops in front of the keyboard... Very annoying for sure!

+10, yep I though this had something to do with the workings of NFC, because it is hardly a sticker . When and if I remove the rear screen protector I will remove it.

No. The NFC unit is built into the phone, removing the sticker doesn't cause any problems.

Yes you are right! NFC has a pretty low range than Bluetooth and placing it at the right spot should trigger the beam, slight movements can cause connection termination (i mean even a slight movement) so it's appropriate to show people where the chip is actually placed so you need not touch everywhere and see. That's what for the sticker is and after you know where it's placed, you can remove it safely.. I did too, no probs in that!

I'm glad they didn't, the NFC logo is one of the worst logos ever. I would have been very unhappy if I couldn't remove it
Hahaha wtf, for about 2 months I used to think that the NFC sticker on the back was the actual NFC chip and I was panicking because it kept getting scratched, then just about 5 minutes ago it sort of moved to an angle and I was like 'wtf, pretty sure a chip isn't meant to move like that'. Then I knocked it with my nail and it just fell off. Now I feel like an idiot haha, for the whole time I was doing the best I could to take care of it, now I've realized I've spent 2 months looking after a sticker...
Hello all .. I have a problem with my xperia z. I dropped it in pool and got water damaged and stuff. I put it in rice for 5 days. Now the problem is that the power button isnt functioning well. VOLUME UP key opens Snapshot dialogue box which is supposed to be open ny long press power button. Speakers work but they stop after 5 mimutes then ipress volume up button them they start working again. Can any body tell me what exactli is wrong with my XZ ?? Is is the software or hardware.. I think its hardware. I want some good suggestions on what should i do. Thanks in advance guys.

Send it for repair. That is the only course of action for water damage if drying the phone out thoroughly hasn't worked.

Yes. As I recall from your previous thread about this, you powered the phone up after water got in, so it's highly likely that something is permanently damaged.

I doubt you would want to apy at the rates they charge. When I wanted to replace my screen on my arc they gave me a crazy estimate of over a £100. Just turn phone off open all flaps and leave it to dry for a few weeks.

Hello everybody, i droped my xperia z1 and now two corners have a dent on the aluminium part. Is this easy to replace? Prices? Any help is apreciated. Thanks on advance
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Probably you are the richest guy on XDA to think to replace the aluminum frame. Sorry for my answer, I try to be polite but your question is useless. Is not easy at all and probably nobody will do that, it will cost you more than a new phone. You have to keep the phone like that now. To be sure just go to the store when you brought the phone and ask them. The last chance, if you can't live with the aluminum frame scratched, sell it and buy a new one.

It will die and you won't have warranty
It will have the same fate as my first XZ.
Death.
Luckily, Phones4u replaced it no questions asked, even though it was entirely my fault and therefore shouldn't have been replaced.

Maybe a bit of a dumb question?
They are there for a reason and when you open them the software notifies you to close them to preserve waterproofness

Yes, I showered it, soaped it, shampoo it, took underwater pics, took it underwater
And nothing went wrong
Safely take your phone underwater
If anything goes wrong, I personally replace my Z1 by yours!!
Perfect for a quick porn in the shower
Here is my shoot with Xperia Z1 underwater (Sea water).
Those are my nephew excited to have underwater picture with my phone
There is no damage on my phone, no malfunction, everything is perfect. Camera is not fogged and etc.
I wash it in clear water after using it in sea, and you only need to let it dry about 20minutes to speaker gets dry so i can play music.
You can listen music moment you pull it out of water, but its dimmed because of water.
Took mine in the pool, works perfect no issues. I was super nervous but glad I did. Love this phone.

If the break is just on the screen and it's just on the surface, it's still water proof
For example, using knife instead of pen, cracks your screen but it's still water proof
But if the screen is broken, for example fell from 10th floor, so it's no more water proof
Sorry for my bad English and bad telling
I wish you got my mean
Otherwise, I can tell you in another way

I wouldn't risk it with your screen like that tbh...
That's just my opinion though
I wouldn't risk it either. If water enters the phone and it breaks, it won't be covered by the warranty as Sony would blame it on the cracked screen and they would propably be right!
