I'm having a Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7" Developers Edition but it's bricked and now it's not booting up is it a Rare one or is it a Display Device?
When I plug in the charger the Chip Written Samsung on it Get heated up and the computer doesn't recognize it and it was running version 7.1.0 till its death and I'm still having the 7.1.0 system and other partition backups and This reached this stage after flashing hashcode bootloader :crying:
There are these three buttons near the Samsung chip and I can't find these buttons in the other Kindle Fire HD 7" in the teardown on iFixit
and Is this a Developers edition??

I don't know, but according to my own knowledge and Google there's no such thing as a developer's edition tablet. Ever. It might be modified in some way. Did you buy it from a retailer or from the market? A retailer is any online or physical store that's authorized to sell electronics, like Fry's. You might have done something wrong while flashing the bootloader, and that caused the tablet to die.
Perhaps this is a demo used to pitch the idea to Amazon or other distributors. Notice the white frame? Mississippi? What was the first version of the kindle fire hd 7"? 7.1.5?

any way to Fix it?? or to replace the Boot-loader ??
Hang on to those files. I wonder if they would be useful to Hashcode....

See if you can enter fastboot. Get a factory cable, it will save you in many cases. Then, download the 7.2.3 u-boot file and flash the bootloader, then flash the 7.2.3 system, and you'll be back where you started.
Sure @Krsmqn I'll keep those files safe and is there a way to recovery my Kindle from Death I've also tried making a Factory Cable at home I've also attached the Pics or should I solder a 1KV resistor or anything like to Pin1 - Pin4?? Which website should I use to upload those System Files ??

The outside pins are ground pin 5 and voltage pin one I think, so if you goofed you may fry something make sure you have the right pins before you risk your kindle or computer port
Soldering micro usb pin one and pin four it's all you need to do it is how I made mine...are you sure you are really pin four? Most micro USB cables only have pins 1 2 3 5

I can't tell from those pictures looks like only one side?
Were there five points on your soldered wire? Most only have four making a fast boot cable impossible to make, if you can find a Samsung cable it will have all five pins and they are labeled as shown in my post, if you have a otg cable it may have all five pins because they require pin four to go to ground

HI! i've found some pics of the nexus 7 motherboard and some connectors seems to be unused... If you look at the "con1" (the one used for micro usb connection) it has 22 pins 0_o. Maybe we can find a hardware hack =D
More images here
We could do a "simple" (dangerous) test: HDMI has a hot plug detection pin, the only way to check is provide one pin with +5v dc and check if any other pin sends a ddc query.... but how can we find the hotplug pin (if there's any)?

From the teardown it was pretty clear there was space for the rear camera as well as HDMI.
The IO presenters were using units with HDMI, so it was probably the same motherboard, populated.
You would have to be a hard-core hacker to want toi add your own HDMI. No idea what is missing beside header and connector. Probably not as bad as adding MHL
I am happy living without HDMI.
Maybe I will never use the hdmi connector but hacking electronical things when i have to hack biological ones every day is a nice way to spend the time xD

Can't back it up right now but will frantically google to find it.. But I remember reading that it had the hardware for mhl but currently not enable in software?
but just tested my jellybeaned gnex and that works fine with mhl so not sure how much truth there is to that.
I can vouch for the photo of a Nexus 7 with an HDMI port, as well as a comment from a presenter that the special units they were using for presentations had HDMI.
No, I can not provide any links. That was thousands of pages ago...
I do not believe the Nexus 7 has the MHL chip, or any provision for it. Asus is not listed as a MHL provider.
Samsung (Nexus) is a MHL provider, so the hardware there would not be a surprise.
In that teardown review (where the OP got that image, I believe), they mistakenly said it supported HDMI out and included a picture of the HDMI cable from the nexus Q. They later retracted that comment.
That might be the source of the confusion.
There was at least one actual picture of a Nexus 7 with an HDMI port on the bottom.
I think a reviewer got their hands on a presenter's unit.
The image you're looking for is in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736916
The internel dev versions (the ones used for presentations) had mini hdmi.
So, it does make sense that theres space on the board.
Thank you for that picture link! I searched everywhere for that...
At least that is one less reason to think I have lost my mind...
I'd love to be able to solder on an sdcard slot, if that's all that's needed. It's generally pretty easy to solder to headers if you're careful about it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
From the teardown, I don't recall seeing any space for an SD card.
Rear camera - yes, HDMI - yes, but not SD Card.
I could be mistaken...
Also, the external storage problem has been pretty much solved with a USB OTG cable and stickmount.
we could solder a slod for an additional sd card... there's enaught space to fit in a sd card without "external" access.

we're counting pins and waiting for more info =P
look here: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/KjNsrjlvHZdFWEGF.huge
we have 14 free pins and an hdmi data connection requires only 12 wires + 5v + grnd.
i'm looking for someone who can do some simple tests on the unused pins.
when i will have the nexus 7 i'll do it by myself at uni but maybe someone who have the I/O version now could do something meantime.
Looks pretty interesting to me hope we cram a sd card In there somewhere.
Alright. I've read quite a few of these threads, but everyone seems to have a less "bricked" tablet than I do. I don't have android on it. When I try to turn it on it only shows the low batter icon and then the plug icon. That's it.
I've tried charging it, it's been charging for an hour with no change. I've done the old Power button + Volume up (vol down, home button, tapping home button) Every combination imaginable. When I connect it to the computer, the first few time my computer recognized a device has been plugged in and started searching for drivers, but now it doesn't do that...also the search for palm drivers has failed. I can't get WebOs to work either...
I'm about ready to call it quits.

Yeah, you need the OEM cable or a Touchstone. The TP is finicky about charging. Search for it here on XDA; several other people have had the same issue and resolved it with the original cable.
If you want to use another charger, like 1.25Amp then be prepared to wait a long time for it to charge. They really are programmed for the 2Amp as you can see with the notification it shows.

Are there any developers working on or is there a cm11 ROM for the Kindle Fire HD? Has anyone got USB otg to work on the kfhd?
And basically what work, if any is being done on this platform? I'm curious if I should stick with the kfhd or upgrade to the hdx this Christmas. The deciding factor is if the devs are still working on the HD? If so I'll hold of on my purchase of the hdx until the price drops.
Thanks!
We've definitely hit a slight lull here on the kfhd forums but hashcode is still maintaining cm 10.2 for us. And a few other devs
The hdx is yet to be rooted and the boot loader hasn't been exploited yet either if you demand ROMs and root then the hdx is at the moment not for you. I'd recommend a nexus 7 for those things
Now the kfhd is a brick you cannot break the thing (physically) I definitely recommend it for families with kids my three year old has been rough with ours.

It dropped last night 4.4 KitKat CM 11 for Kindle Fire HD 7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47879407#post47879407
Hi, I recently have been given a Kindle Fire; however, it's the demo version and I can't seem to find any working guides that can help convert it to a regular Kindle Fire. I've tried searching the forums for a fix, but I am not familiar with the nuances and software associated with manipulating these devices, so sorry if I've missed it. If you could please help me in colloquial terms, I would be very grateful. Thank you!
OK if you are sure it's a 7" HD 1st gen then its pretty simple, buy a fastboot cable, or make one if you can solder, then use kindle fire first aid to restore the device os, by doing this it restores a full non-demo unit version of the os to the device that's rooted.

If you already have a USB cord (micro and any micero will do) then you can by an adapter cheap http://shop.teamblackhat.info/Factory-Adapters-motadapt.htm Otherwise eBay or Skorn from XDA sells them.
Edit: Or if you have a Motorola cord laying around that's the same as a Kindle factory cable.
@LinearEquation
Thanks, waiting for it to come in the mail. I'll revive the thread if I have any further questions. Thank you for your assistance.
Ok, so the adapter came and I successfully used the "Completely Restore the KFHD 7 7.2.1" option. However, after it said it was complete and to restart the kindle, I turned the kindle off and couldn't get it to turn back on. Upon pressing the power button it lights up green for approximately 5 seconds and then turns off again. There is no response in the screen at all, it remains black during this process. Any idea what I'm doing wrong or what the problem is?
Wait did you say the power button lights up green or the screen? Because the kfhd's don't have a power led. If it's the screen I get a feeling the boot loader could be damaged, which is kinda odd because I thought kffa had checks to make sure the right boot loader is flashed and to make sure the file was intact before flashing.

Um well... I am not as familiar with kindle fire 1's, I Don't know if there's a restore tool for them or what. That being said can anyone else tell me whether a kindle fire 2 has a light up power button? I haven't actually had my hands on the model, but I assume if it was a kf2 then kffa would have put the correct os on it.

It seems there is no advice available for my current condition. Thanks anyway for your assistance. Any ideas what I can do with the broken device?
If it's a kindle fire 1, those things are practically unbrickable. You should poke around the kindle fire 1 forum and see what utilities they have for restoring it, I might check it out myself in a bit.

Yes.
Good, now do me a favor and run "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" and tell me what it spit's out. This will help me confirm what kind of kindle this is, which is very important because if we start doing things that you do to get a kf1 working on a 2nd gen kindle we are likely to hardbrick it.

Not sure what you mean. If you meant type it into Run on my computer it simply says fastboot does not exist. The kindle has no interface to input the data into.
*facepalm*
No, I meant in a command prompt, and also since you didn't know that much I also should probably mention that you have to CD into the directory where that program is located, I don't know the exact path in your case, but it should have been included with the utility you used to try to restore the kindle, so in that window copy the path and in a command prompt type "CD" add a space and paste the path and press enter then run the command I previously mentioned.

Hey guys and girls,
I need some help. I friend of mine bring me a dead Kindle Fire HD 7" 3rd Gen (2013) alais SOHO.
This one:
It does nothing, stays black. He was not the rooting guys, he was standard user.
Amazon say just that they can give him a 15% discount for a new device. After 17 month the tablet was dead!
We try to:
-hold specific buttons to get into bootloader or recovery with no success
-load it for a few hours / over night and so on..
-disamble the back-cover to disconnect the accu for some hours
Sadly nothing of that give us success.
So I told him to leave the tablet in my home, perhaps I can try something.
I flash some Amazon FireTV (box1 & sticks) with an emmc-adapter so I was hoping to find some emmc pinout's but found just some for the TALE model not for the SOHO.
So I read something about that Fastboot Cable and I create my own one.
After soldering I test it with my multimeter and it was fine, like this shematic here:
When I connect it a 6-legs electronic element burned and smoked
What went wrong!?
I hope to find that 6-legs electronic element to solder it and to bring this tablet run again. Can you help me to find out wich is the name of that 6-legs electronic element?
Here are some pictures:
And here the mainboard in 2 pictures + emmc chip:
I hope we can fix this together...

im no great electronic tech. but i think tht part that got burnt is a transistor, b4 creating your fastboot cable was the device able to connect to the pc ,installing any drivers! if you have access to your emmc via sd card adaptor then i think the best thing to do is to try and get the parition uploaded to the emmc , then you can work on replacing the transistor,

After I got the not working soho there was never a time that there was a connection to the pc. All button combinations did not work. So I thought the Bootloader could be broken and I create my own fastboot Cable with Bad follows.
I really would like to order the transistor or ic from china but I need a correct Name. Can you help me with that?
I just can read some numbers, the rest is burned. :/
For flashing the partitions again I need to know the right partitions. There are two different Bootloader IMG's and two different recovery IMG's in the stock bin file. Wich IMG should I use. I had another thread open for that topic an hope for some informations.

For someone planning to make their own fastboot adapter, what may have gone wrong and how can I prevent that happening?

I really dont know. I Check my fastboot Cable twice with a multimeter but at the end it burned this little 8-leg chip.
Can you tell me what is written on your Chip?
Do you own a soho board?

Sorry, was just given a tate to repair, not a soho. Haven't opened it as it doesn't need opened yet for repairs and I don't want to damage anything so I don't know the chip number either.
May I recommend either looking up high detail teardown pics, or contacting the manufacturers (may not be Amazon).
Here is a Scanned Pic of SOHO Board
I put my SOHO in the scanner and scanned at 1200dpi. This is the best I can do, I shake frequently and getting a good macro shot with the whole board would be impossible for me. Here is a converted jpeg down to around ~3MB from 22MB.Hope this helps, not sure if you still need it.

I hate to be that guy in the Bricked Thread, but OP needs to just say "fug it" and buy a new one. This requires expertise I am not capable of though so maybe there is some easy solution for this.
