This is it. Given that both devices are internally differnet, no rom or custom development would ever work on both and there's not even carrier compatibility. Given that devices like the SGS III has different forums for carriers, I believe that the Razr i should at least have it's own forum. What do you think?
Like I said in another thread, I agree. I'd like to see this happen.

Agree. Own forum or at least a sub forum here.
-Sent from my Razr i on AT&T.-
Agreed. The processor is really different from the Razr M so the I should have it's own subforum.
Gets my vote too. Had my Razr i since mid week and I'm really liking it. What I really like is I never lose signal compared to my previous HTC One phones. Battery life rocks too. Great phone but it needs its own forum. We'll still visit the M forum

Yep,
Another subforum would make sense like good old days of G3/G4 wizards (anyone remember these?)
It definatly need its own subforum for development, accesories not so much. they are different models but only in the inside.
It just baffles me that the the galaxy s3 gets full forums just for different carriers and yet the razr i still hasn't gotten a forum. It is a released phone after all, and I'm pretty sure it'll become available in non-LTE markets like South America and many contries accross europe.
Any reason it's not showing up in the Find Your Device search thing?
Yes!

I have had all major Sony phones over the last few years starting with the x10, Ray, arc s, xperia s and now the T
I have decided to get a Samsung S3 and switch aligance to Samsung the slow development and Sony support being the main reason
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Don't blame you, the T is a good device but loads of carriers lock down the bootloader, I can't unlock mine so development is limited for people like us, kinda sucks, I was debating between the S3 and T, may have made the wrong decision but hopefully an unofficial unlock will come our way
Even with the bootloader unlocked there is t much to flash or developing

Good luck pal, do what suites you the best. I moved to Nexus 4 and now I am back. Actually I found out that I like moderate development and not so many that you can't choose from anymore.
Sony has been having this issue but I haven't found a real replacement in terms of design. SG III is nice (not my taste)
I love Sony design it's just the development is so poor and the updates so slow

Funny because I went the other way, for now at least because I get bored easily and my 8 phones demonstrate that. The funny thing is that I'm using a Sony theme on my Nexus.
Have to say it's great getting the latest software with the Nexus after feeling quite burnt by Sony and HTC.
Dont blame sony for the lack of development.
If you want to see more development why dont you try doing some yourself. Everyone on this site does it for free, we dont owe you anything. It would be nice to see people who complain about the lack of something actually trying it themselves.
Do you think the devs (And others like me who dip our toes into it) were born knowing this stuff? No, we learned it as we went along by trying stuff and sharing things that worked....its all a learning curve

Did I say anyone owed me?
I did miui Roms for the ray themes for arc and x10
Wind your neck in son it's people like you that get on my nerves I never had a go at anyone or expected anything so just because you comment on nearly every post you think you can have a pop at me? I am not complaining merely stating a fact development is slow and while people like you think you have a go at people like me more people will not bother with the forum and change phones like I am
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
My post was polite, no need for me to wind my neck in.
If you developed in the past you should understand how your comments come across. Also, your knowledge would help develop some MIUI roms for the T (Is there one yet?) maybe thats an opportunity for some extra development.
Regards,
Greg

Maybe and apologise it felt like an attack
Yeah I see how my comments could be took but recently there was a big think made by some of the old x10 guys about this phone and it's development I thought there would have been more
My phone is going Friday so no chance for me to get a miui rom done
Sorry again

No problems.
Maybe this thread caught me at a bad point as I have just been speaking to a user via PM who is (How can i say it?) less than thankfull to me for my input to helping him out personally.
Anyway, I too had an x10 and there was great expectation for the development here that I will admit does seem slow. (Not heard anything from Adam Outler since his thread about getting the T)
I didnt mean to attack, so apology accepted and no hard feelings. Enjoy your new phone and if you ever come back it will be nice to see a MIUI rom here.
I had a x10, a Arc. Have a Xperia P & a T.
Always been happy with SE & Sony, they make very good quality phones. But were slow with development of Android updates. Had several Samsungs. Imho SGS 3 is a cheap large plastic piece. But thats my personal opinion. l had one & sold it. The SGS 4 Iooks promising. I hope you'll enjoy it. Wish you the best.

I can port MIUI if need be.lol.we have fully functional CM so its easy.problem is i dont want to unlock my TL-rex and i dont even know if it can be unlocked or not
PS:in fact any advanced user (not developer as iam not really a dev )can do it.if anyone is interested i can point to right guides
The development thread looks like a Rom grave yard so many roms unfinished and now people will be jumping to the Z most won't get finished
Shame I thought the bond phone would have more interest in it than it has had
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Tell you what.. with Sony being so open about sharing source code and all drivers, it won't be too long before there's an infusion of devs from Sammy devices. Maybe the Z, maybe the next flagship, but I think some will make the transition as more quality phones come out.
Oh no! Another rant thread.
Sony's update is relatively fast. Samsung only updated its flagships. What about the others? Think of the big picture before shooting.

I have known you guys since the x10 days... The x10 community was huge compared to any other Xperia community...
What I would say is that everyone has their own preferences... Chiefy is a flash-o-holic... So probably it's Best that you get a device like the Nexus 4...
As for others it's totally upto you as to what you want...
Also please don't start fighting... It's more of misunderstanding than anything else...

good luck.
Funny I went the other way. In my s3, kept flashing roms after a week
Here on tx, I just rooted and found the stock ics rom much 10x better than jelly bean in s3.
There's not much to improve with the stock rom. And thats a fact

would you guys recommend buying this phone as a secondary device(at this time) ... just to learn more about android development and such??
or is the htc inspire 4g or nexus s better?
imho, the captivate is a great choice. I have a friend who had a nexus s, and my brother had the htc, after owning a cappy.
on comparing experience for purposes of rooting, customization, development history and unbricking solutions, the captivate is best.
you may want to ask the same question in nexus s q/a forum. I personally put HTC inspire 4G last - my brother totally bricked his.

It's a good choice. At this point it's relatively inexpensive and you won't feel too bad if you brick it. A new nexus would probably make me cry.
Plus it's age means that everything is pretty well out there by this point if you need reference.

Plus, as time goes on, more and more devs will get their hands on this phone which will make things even more crazy.
Not trying to be a **** here, but honestly, what do you expect......the phone comes out and suddently there are 30 ROM's out for it?
Sometimes it's a good sign - means folks don't have many problems with it and/or it has a decent stock experience requiring less mods.

The sprint version is the least developed of all the carriers. All those roms are carryovers from other GS4 hardware to the Sprint platform. There is not even a way to force roam on our phones yet. This is ridiculous. This is the kind of stuff that comes out during the first week of release for most phones.

Well said. This forum already blows away some Motorola/HTC phones that have been out for a long time. Be thankful to have a Samsung and sprint. Dev friendly. My first smart phone was the original. Galaxy s captivate on at&t. It had way too many rom/kernels/ports. It was messy and hard to find stuff. People saying some euro Rom ports wiping efs and borking phone- no good. The e4gt and this phone is much better. No worries.

Useless post in a useless thread. I'll give you another taste of my fabulous insight. Any other forum you may find, I would put money down they have the same development (roms, nightlies, mods, recoveries, rooting, debloating, DEVELOPERS & so forth & on & on & on). If you're looking for another Sprint Galaxy S4 forum that's more "hopping & happening", don't you think we would be posting anything & everything we also find, making this forum more "active"?! Here's a concept, show our devs some consideration & be patient. They may act like robots, but they're humans, too :good:

I highly doubt that.
Plus, the stock experience on this phone is pretty fantastic as is, and I've seen at least 2 ROM developers of E4GT ROM's hold off from doing anything and are just enjoying the phone as is.
There's a good chance that a few of your former phones desperately needed some development right off the bat where the anything out for the S4 is pretty much icing on the cake.

I think it wasn't said because it didn't need to be said.
I don't think he said anything against any devs. He was just speaking about lack of devlopement in general. And he is right. That doesn't mean the devs who are putting stuff out aren't good, cause they are.
I see it like this. I don't find as many themed roms as I've seen with some other phones I've had. Even the amount stock based roms that have personal twists to them is infrequent. Mods and things are also on the low side. Not that the quality of the ones we have are low. Just the amount.
I think the developers from Samsung pay attention to what the devs here and elsewhere are putting out and they do a bit of incorporating so the need for some Roms are not needed. The fact that some people bought the One may have sent a few devs over there. Not that the community over there is very big though. Sales are less than half of the S4.
Some new development will be coming with the nexus experience version of the phone so Roms will be on the uptick soon. But I as well think there is a bit of a low turnout for Roms and things this time around. Also as time goes on this is to be expected. As devs figure mods and things out they just incorporate them into other projects without the need for discussion and its not something that is taking up threads everywhere. The devs have grown a lot so to speak and just push things out that work better from the start. So it seems like less is happening sometimes.
Just my take.

I think there are less here because it is fairly new, and tbh the stock version of it isn't bad at all.
Thanks for that eskomo. I'm not going to reply to those kneejerkers who say "I don't agree and if you don't like it get out rabble rabble rabble"
I have always given proper thanks and respect to all the developers that I have benefited from. However, I am not on trial so I don't have to defend my opinions. Don't tell me where I should or should not post, or what phone/carrier I have your blessing to be on. Thanks, buh bye now.
Also agree on your points of development and customization. For being the biggest/baddest competitor vs the iPhone 5, I see this as a very poor showing of what xda can do with strong hardware. Shame.

If you searched through some of the threads regarding the SM--G730A you would've learned that it's bootloader is not unlocked yet, and there exists no way to unlock it as of yet. I don't think any active developers have that phone either, and to my knowledge only a recovery has been built for the phone (but you can't flash it because of the locked bootloader), only root has been achieved for your phone.
The phone you have isn't the S3 Mini here (the S3 mini here is the GT-I8190), Samsung's naming conventions are really stupid at times - your phone and the GT-I8190 have nothing in common outside of it's name. I think the GT-I8190 was marketed heavily overseas in Europe and such, whereas your model's only available in the States and Canada.

Just a tip - search through xda to see if there's any active development on your phone, it'll save you a crapload of trouble, and I'd also avoid verizon and at&t phones in general because of their tendency to lock boot-loaders, I notice the google play edition of phones and the t-mobile versions tend to have unlocked boot-loaders and have better support.
Oh and google's dropped the price on the Nexus 5, about $320 usd for the 16gb, if you're interested and have the money.
Thanks Again
