i m having sleep of death problem on my galaxy note. Phone wont wake up from idle and its not switched of either because if i call my number it is ringing but phone does not show anything. Samsung service changed my main board twice but the problem is still there. Any ideas guys what hardware could be at fault? or it is a jelly bean bug(happened a few times on ics as well)?
Please help....
If the phone rings while the screen is off , then its obvious ... the screen's dead xD Take it back to the service centre and mention that the phone rings while the screen is off , It may be a software issue .. But im 86.2% (What? its just a percentage xD) sure its the screen because they changed the board twice so the software's fine

Screen flicker??I don't know it..
I say you bought a fake phone. Never had the flicker and connector has nothing to do with it. Besides, if you have to ask how to check - don't.

Hey mate,
I had the same problem with an I9000 international a while back, it was a hardware fault and the phone was replaced by my carrier. (at least that is what they told me)
Sorry for the bad news,
Alex

Hi again,
My phone did it intermittently when i was using it, not just on certain screens, it was almost random. Sometimes it would work perfect for 2 days then just have the same problem you described.
My RMA sheet from Samsung said:
Tested Main PCB
Tested Display
Handset Hardware fault
Replaced Handset
Passed live air tests
Passed stress test
So based on the above, my phone was ratsh*t

I'm not sure I understand your problem. The proximity sensor makes the screen go black during a phone call and should turn back on if you pull it away from your ear... but it sounds like your screen is black before a call is connected, correct? Or is it that it won't come back on during a call?
I would try a hard reset. Turn the phone off. When you turn the phone back on, hold down the volume up and volume down buttons. Follow the instructions. See if that fixes your problem.

Hello ,
I am having a problem with my Sony Ericsson X1 , my screen the last days is black and i need to press many times the turn off button so i can turn on / off the backlight and work , but today its not working anymore this trick .... ! i took the battery off i put it after a bit time and still the same . Also i had a problem with my keyboard and screen when i put the keyboard down my screen wasnt going down also and was stacking in the normal way like having it close... !
Any1 could give me a hand , maybe any1 knows how much the screen problem will cost?
Thanks a lot.
It's a problem where the ribbon cable that connects the phone (in the keyboard bit) to the screen is worn and then it starts to have problems with the screen. In the end, for me at least, the screen wouldn't turn on at all. I just sent it to sony for a fix, and they said it was free.
That's what your problem sounds like considering the keyboard seems to be related to the screen
Hello guys, I'm new to the android platform and phones ,
I recently bought a new htc desire C and I dropped it on the floor from 1m height, the phone is intact , absolutely nothing
but the screen is black, I can receive calls , I hear the sound when it turns on , when someone calls.
Is there a common problem with the phones themselves or is the screen broken cuz I don't get it, why it's not turning on.
If it's something I can fix at home so I don't have to go to the shop with the phone.

Dropping it ant the screen not working is definitely not a common problem lol. You can repair it at a shop, that's pretty much it.
