Hello guys, I'm new to the android platform and phones ,
I recently bought a new htc desire C and I dropped it on the floor from 1m height, the phone is intact , absolutely nothing
but the screen is black, I can receive calls , I hear the sound when it turns on , when someone calls.
Is there a common problem with the phones themselves or is the screen broken cuz I don't get it, why it's not turning on.
If it's something I can fix at home so I don't have to go to the shop with the phone.

Dropping it ant the screen not working is definitely not a common problem lol. You can repair it at a shop, that's pretty much it.

Sad thing happend with me, 4 days ago i fell into a river and sadly ma diamond was in the pocket. I dryed it for three days, turned it on, everthing else works, besides the screen light. So i dissambeled the phone to bits and pieces, only i didn't took the LCD out(read it from somewhere that you can't put it back on afterwards so it will work). I reassambeled it and still same situation. If you look it from a angel you can see the icons and even touchscreen works. Only problem is still the backlight. So is there something i can do to make the backlight work again or i have to buy a new screen and is it hard to swap the screen ?

Not sure if you will need to replace the screen, if you can get to the power settings you can see if the backlight has been manually turned down. If this fails and a screen replacement is required i will tell you how easy/difficult it is once i have replaced mine, due to unfortunate circumstances.
yeah, i got into the power settings, everthing is okey there like it should be , so i have to change the screen. Is there some kind on intrcutions for changing it? it would help me a lot
Hey guys,sorry for bringing this up.
Whenever i dial,screen goes black and doesn't come back on.
If i place it flat on a table,then it gets lit but as soon as i rotate the device it goes black again.
My HD7 recently started having this problems...
It started happening after i replaced the micro sd inside with a bigger one.
So my concern is that somehow it moved or got dust when i removed the back plastic cover? Where is it placed anyway?
I tried hard resetting 2 times but nothing works. It would be cool if there was a registry or app to take control of it. Can somebody help?
PS. i cannot send it back because i live in Albania (no official htc shops either around here)

Hello,
The proximity sensor is located on the top left of the device, you can see it when viewed under a bright light. Have you applied any screen protectors which can interfere with them? Replacing the sd card should not have any effect on the proximity sensor. When you rotate the device when the call is placed, the screen should go black by default cause of the sensor

My phone does not have any screen protector or cover of any kind. Also,if i rotate it while in call it still remains black. As soon as i press the call button,screen goes black and wont come back until the call is ended by the person on the other side.
Really really annoying... Oh sometimes it even flashes after the call has ended...
Sounds like a hardware fault ...have you tried updating your rom?You can find a compatible rom in the rom development subforum..
Yep,tried that too. Just updated today and still the same issue.
It also happened after i changed the micro sd,so maybe something has moved in there. There's no other way than try to open the device and check it out,i guess :/

last night my x1s screen was going all fuzzy like different colours and cut out a few times. now today notthing. the screen is blank. backlight comes on i think. the phone starts up normal as i can hear the start up sound and i can accept calls. i think this is failure of the felx cable. Is this true? and if so is i worth get on and fiting it myself or going to a repair shop. im on the cheap here so any fix will do.

I have had the second part of your problem before where screen doesn't come on but the back light and everything else works. A couple of months back when I was at college I dropped my phone really hard at a party( I was wasted ) and the next morning the screen wouldn't come on. So what I did was I looked up the guide to how take the X1i apart and luckily one of my buddies had the same screwdrivers that I needed because he uses it on his the Blackberry Storm 2. So what I did was went to where the Flex ribbon cable was located unattached it, then reattached it, and put my phone back together and the screen came back on and still works to this day. the to lines in the top of my screen are blue ^^
i think its a problem with the connection, but as it isn't really big and i don't have a newer phone i will dissasemble it later ;-)

About a couple weeks ago I cracked the digitizer(touch screen) on my Lg Thrill and replaced it. Before doing this everything was fine with the phone...I upgraded to GB and it is also rooted but like I said everything was working just fine until I replaced the digitizer. Now every time I make or receive a phone call the phone goes black like it was close to my ear. This only happen if I answer the call and if I make a call it happens right away.The phone is still on and the calls go through but the phone goes black and is useless and I can't even hang it up until the other person hangs up. Not even pressing the power button on the top helps. I have checked and nothing is blocking the sensor on the front of the phone and the new digitizer I got from ebay but again it is a perfect fit and nothing is blocking the sensors...Any Ideas or suggestions? anything would be a great help thank you!

The sensor that the phone uses in order to register face proximity is just to the left of the forward facing camera. Ensure this is connected nice and solid (reseat the wire if necessary) and make sure there is no dust in it as this will likely cause it to behave as it has. Simply replacing the screen won't do this, but improper cleaning before replacing the screen could. You may have to tear the phone down again just to reseat the screen itself.

hmm i had the same issue BUT mine would do it when i cracked the digitizer, which is weird.. replacing my digitizer fixed the issue or it just cleared up itself, try resetting the phone.. Or like zombie said, Tear it down and clean the connectors and sensors

I have taken the phone completely apart and used a can of compressed air to clean it I double checked the sensor connector and made sure there was no dirt or dust in or around the connections. I put the phone back together and made a test call...still doing the same thing
But I did notice that when I made a second test in a dark room the phone did not go black and when I moved the phone close to a light the phone went black....needless to say I am so confused now more then ever. I did a third test and the same thing happened. So any other ideas as to what may be going on??? Seems like the sensor is working no? just in reverse??? Maybe the tint in the new digitizer is too dark? but this still makes no sense as to why the phone goes black when it gets exposed to light. Anyway any other help would be great right about now THANK YOU!

I replaced my note 5 lcd before 4 days it was working perfect w/out any flaws but it suddenly went black while using it was full charged while it happend. but i can receive calls texts hear sounds. I tried a youtube fix by holding Vol down+Power!! Yes it does reboot the phone but whateva happens lcd is black, even i tried to flash stock rom also its succeed!!
I dont know what the problem is but my lcd was broken before, while in that stage it cannot boot or receive calls there was only a solid blue led.
But in this case i dont know what the problem is and i think you might help me figure out.

I had the exact same problem and unfortunately the phone had to be replaced under warranty so if you don't have a warranty on the phone then immediately contact whoever sold you the screen and get a replacement since that one's broken. It's not going to come back no matter what and it was probably a cheap knock off which is all I keep seeing all over the place but try anyway because they aren't cheap at all!!!
Sounds like when you had the LCD replaced they didnt do the digitizer ( that is the component that converts the signal to pictures for display on the screen) usually when one is damaged they are both replaced at the same time

I think you're a bit confused on what a digitizer is... It's not for converting pictures it's for dealing with the touch part of it I.E it senses where your fingers are on the screen.
