I have 2 Captivates I flashed to this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2129301
Used CWM and all went well and the flash came back good... until I tried to fire up Wifi. It just sits and never manages to enable wifi. I went back to CWM and cleared cache and still no go. Wifi worked on the stock ROM so I'm not sure what else could be wrong.

Perhaps try another kernel (make sure it's for JB). Or wipe and do a clean flash.
I went to CM 10.0 stable and the wi-fi works. Not sure why it didn't under AOCP. Thanks anyways.

Hey, I've been running the stock build on my rooted O2X for a while now and tried the CM7 nightly's after having a bad experience with CM7 RC1 a month-ish ago.
I backed up with CWM(via rom manager), and CM7 works fine.
But i don't like how it remaps the external storage and for some other reasons is does not work for me.
So i'm trying to go back and its not working.
It says its restored successfully but boot stays on the LG screen with the progress bar underneath. only a battery pull gets me out, which i have probably done 20 times now.
-It was initially unable to unmount /system, but after i fixed permissions that error was gone but it did not fix the problem.
- I went into advanced restore and did each one separately, they all claim to have worked successfully. but no dice
-I used back2ext3 hoping that was the root of the problem, but no luck there.
i wipe data, cache as well as dalvik every time, but still nothing.
What is up with this? is it possible that my image is corrupted or something? but why is it saying restored successfully?
CM7 nightly installs fine, so im using it in the interim, but its not optimal.
thanks for any ideas.
I bet you have an older version of CWM.
Make sure you're on at least v4 then try restoring.
Nope, im running 4.0.0.9, which is current
I try to install but don't work... after that i flash it, the phone lock to logo screen "google" and i can't go to CWM i must use odin to reflash. If install rc3.1 it's all ok.
Where is the problem?
Thanks.
Did you try looking at the help page on the thread in the development section? It's right before the post is finished, there will be a link that will lead you there.
Hope that helps, if not I can try to just copy and paste the instructions hahaha

Did you do a full wipe before flashing RC4.1?

yes... i try to flash a miui rom first also.
I try to do a full wipe... i try to install a original rom... but when i flash rc4.1 the phone stuck to logo.
Ensure you have backed up your EFS directory; if you don't know how ask.
To be honest, there appears to be some inconsistency in the reliability of the 4.1 RC release (across handsets); I have had persistent WIFI issues and then when the wifi fix was released I found the phone to just be a little laggy.
My advice if RC 3.1 works well for you is to keep it on there for now and wait for the next release they make.
However, if you still wish to flash it, there is no 100% working way - just keep factory reset, dalvik wipe, cache wipe, reset until it starts working! That's what I did as the original instructions did not work for me.

Yes i try it(no backup efs)
If i flash 2 time the rom the phone stuck it and i can't enter in cmw
.. is the only rom that give me this problem... bha...
Hello, have you tried to download the rom again? Maybe it's a bad download..
That's odd, for me i got stats 7 but was because i was flashing the I9000B version and my phone was with the CWM for I9000. Try using odin and flash a sotck rom, after that install the CWM and then the RC4.1.
If anyone want to know the procedure that i do to install the RC4.1 is this:
Starting for CM7 --> flash the ARO 2.3.3 rom to re-write the bootloader (check this option in odin) --> flash the ZTO 2.2 rom to re-partition in original size partitions --> flash the 2.2.1 ARO because it's a nice rom and don't have all the trash that is present in ZTO version --> through kies flahs the ARO 2.3.3 original.
After that the procedure to install the RC4.1 is the standard: flash CWM then install the ROM.
I had problems going from 3.1 to 4.1. Same issue as OP.
Process I followed:
-Flashed CWM through heimdall
-Flashed devil kernel
-Flashed CM7 (had to do this twice in a row)
-Flashed ICSSGS 3.1
-Flashed 4.1 but before I rebooted my phone, I flashed Devil one last time.
Since then, phone has been rocking along just fine!

Yes... three times.
I'm having the same problem here.
I tried the first point on the Common Issues page but I'm still not able to go into CWM!
I flashed the Speemod Kernel using heimdll but I can't go back to CM7. I'm getting a Stat 7 error.
Also tried the Devils kernel (Devil_1.0_CFS) with no help ....
Any ideas?
Just wondering...

why on earth did you flash the CM7 as a part of the process? I always have just downloaded an appropriate kernel (devil, stockplus etc..) + ICS ROM (latest was RC4.1), once I'd rooted my stock 2.3.6 ROM with CF-Root (takes only 5 minutes). ICSSGS' ROMs can be applied straight on top of any previous ROM, the only requirement is that you have root privileges + CWM installed. Flashing CM7 is often frustrating, at least for me. I personally see no point in flashing it before the ICS ROM. If you know better, pleasy enlighten me

Hi I have WEUI v1.0 installed on Galaxy I9000 with the baseband i9000XXJVT
I am planning to install the [ROM][4.1.1] [1.0.1] RemICS-JB (Team RemICS)
Is there any special way or just the regular way of putting in the SD card and then going into CWM and flashing it.
Please advise on this thanks
I did this just last night, from an I9000XXJVU baseband.
Installing was a bit of an issue for me, from recovery i had to wipe user data, cache and dalvik then flash the rom, as the instructions say, then it wouldnt boot. Went back into recovery and wiped the user data, cache and dalvik again and then the phone booted and ran the RemICS-JB 4.1.1 [1.0.1]. Once it was running it all worked fine EXCEPT i had no cellular network connection at all, after leaving the phone on for over an hour.
I didnt get a chance to verify if the wifi worked as i didnt have any access points available.
Good luck amd hope all goes well for you
From GB its important, to flash Rom after all wipes and reboot recovery ... then you get the right cmw .. and then flash again
the JB-Rom ...
It´s the same way like form GB to ICS ... flash and reboot recovery ... without reboot recovery you can`t boot
hope it works ..
Alright so here's what i have done
I first flashed to [ROM]MIUI.4.I9000 it actually turned off the recovery. Then installed the recovery app from playstore.
Then flashed the CM 10 and before flashing it automatically installed recovery V5 on phone.
Then I flashed the REMICS and this installed recovery V6 on phone.
I have to say this is the best ROM i have ever seen the speed is awesome and very nice features on the JB.
There's one thing I have noticed some of the graphics animations are not working as I have seen on the other JB phones.
However still this ROM is brilliant and I am planning to get a tab running with JB.
Thanks for your inputs on this.
I tried flashing JMZ's kernel, flashed just fine and booted up well, the only thing, wifi didn't work.
So i went to my back up and restored the boot, wifi still didnt work.
currently i tried a full wipe with system, and going to try to restore a FULL back up.
if that doesnt work, can annyone upload the stock kernel please? or atleast tell me how to get it and get my wifi up and running, i dont have a data plan so i dont have internet on it what so ever.

restore didnt work...
any ideas on how to fix this
FIXED IT hahaha
i wanted to wipe the entier phone and restore it piece by piece, so i wiped EVERYTHING, even usb, and i think thats hat fixed it cause i restored an old back up, my first one, and worked like a charm, just need to restore data from my latest back up.
Hello I'm using jmz sense 4.1.1,which comes with this kernel. WiFi was broken when it booted. So I restore my backup and WiFi works again. Does this method work on jmz sense rom?

Hello, i solved this wifi issue just after installing the rom you have to flash the boot img from fastboot: fastboot flash boot boot.img and then wifi works for me.
I'm trying to resurrect my I897 Captivate. I put it in the drawer a couple of years ago with Glitch kernel and AOKP ICS on it. My wife destroyed her Skyrocket (S2) and she needs a phone to use as a stand-in for a couple of months.
I wiped it, no nandroid backup since I had no plans to use any of the data on it, and began trying to install Cyanogenmod. I was planning to use the recent M5 snapshot of CM11 but am ok with going to 10.2.1 stable if 11M5 doesn't work.
However, I just can't get it to boot. It will go into recovery mode fine (in fact, it boots to recovery even when no buttons are pressed).
I went back, wiped everything, formatted all partitions, and started with CM7, then CM9, then CM10.2.1 to get the partition scheme updated and just to be sure it wasn't CM11M5. However none of those change the issue. It just refuses to boot anything but recovery.
I've repeatedly done wipes and factory resets, including going back and formatting the partitions. I've tried the "install CM twice" trick. The phone just does not want to boot the images.
The install processes seem to go fine. No errors reported during .zip install.
I went through many different pages that are meant to break a recovery loop, most of which just have you do the basic reset and reboot, but so far have found no way to break the cycle.
Any ideas?

my advice is, go to stock GB, then flash ICS, flash a KitKat kernel, reboot recovery and then flash CM 11..
hope this works for you!
Yeah that was my next plan, already have the stock ROM downloaded. Will report back. Was just hoping there was a known issue that I could fix without reverting. Not a big deal Thanks.

Hello jahfry! Glad to hear you got the stock ROM. Would you mind telling me where you got it from? All the links I've found here are dead… I am in a similar situation as you - managed to get a custom rom going but have lost all trace of EFS folder/ nv_data.bin file…. Need to go back to stock to start again… Any help appreciated!
