Sorry for the late help, but if you still have this problem, you can follow the guide I created on how to root G1 based on what I have done when I root my phone. This will allow you to flash any room. this guide is also easy to follow. but for the meantime I still can't provide links so just copy paste the address of my site. http://techyknow.weebly.com/how-to-root-tmobile-g1.html hope that will help you.

You need to HardSPL your device first. Follow the link below and read ALL of it before attempting to flash. If you follow the instructions EXACTLY as they say, then you will have no problems...

Thank you very much ... thats exactly what i needed
Hello,
I recently bought an unlocked G1 of ebay. When it arrived the firmware on it was 1.6.
I decided that i would like to jail break/root it so i followed the intructions and downgraded to rc7 and began to manually root it.
After much messing about i managed to do it however when it came to installing the cyanogen mod (i chose the newest stable release 4.2.13) it hangs at the T-mobile G1 screen. I am aware that the first boot after the mod can take some time so i left it for 20 minutes but got nothing.
I have managed now to downgrade it again to RC7 and was just hoping that you guys could help me /tell me what i did wrong.
I followed the instructions on this website
http://android.lucidrem.us/files/howto-root.txt
I really would appreciate any help anyone could give me as i'm at my feckin wits end
cheers
Check out the guide on Cyanogen's Wiki for detailed instructions on how to root your UK G1

My guess would be that you didn't flash the HTC dev phone image prior to flashing the newest CyanogenMOD, it's a pretty common mistake for beginner's
Check the Wiki, it should get you in the right direction
i`m sorry about the new threat but i`m new here and i could`t find anything to help me ..
how do i boot a new rom to my htc dream ..
i know that in win mobile you need to hard spl first then just download the rom you want and that`s it.. how do i do`it whith a android device?
thank you in advance and i`m sorry again for the new thread
Hold down "Home" and hit "Power." Then hit Alt+F.
Also, this should be in Q&A.
i am actually wanting a step by step instruction.
something from the unboxing to the actual booting proces ..
ok the phone is unboxed obviously and unlocked as well .. what next ?

Lots of the same stuff with more options.
There are new versions of the recovery image and the Roms which are in the development section on xda. Just be sure to read everything a few times and you'll have no trouble.
i will check the site now
thank you
And please please please make sure you understand everything about Haykuro's (Danger/Death) SPL IF you decide to flash it. It's pretty much the only way you can brick your G1. If your ROM doesn't require Death SPL then skip it until you get the hang of flashing things.

Need a little more info here... what errors, at what point do you get said errors.
Here's what I've been able to dig up
You need to create a gold card with these Instructions to get access to bootloader. After that, you just need to flash RC 7 (using DREAM.nbh). You can follow the directions here.
Good luck.
MediaWiki internal error.
Exception caught inside exception handler
i can't view it.
How about this?

When I rooted my G1 (UK) , I have sth confusing because my Build number is DMD64, so I didn't know whether or not downgrading my phone. When I tried to downgrading my phone with Dreaimg-RC7, it said that " not allowed". How do I solve this problem??
I think DMD64 required a goldcard. Read this thread below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702558&highlight=dmd64
DMD64 does not require a "gold card". Well, the US version anyways... I had DMD64 on mine, and the basic root instructions from the unlockr worked fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
Follow those instructions... READ EVERYTHING FIRST!!! If you have any questions, or need help, just ask.
Please note: If you screw up on account of your own stupidity, missing a step, spilling beer on your phone, etc., I nor anyone here can be held responsible...
In other words, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS PRECISELY and BE PATIENT!!!
"If you ask a question, you may feel like a fool for the moment...If you do not ask, you are a fool forever!"
did you use Dreaimg RC 29??

On my phone, yes, I used RC29. Again, yours may be different as it is a UK version.. Read through that link that I posted... Get all your files together and ready.. When that is done, we can set up a time and I can chat with you and walk you through step by step if you like??
Oh, may I have your yahoo address? I think it's easier for me to talk directly with you. Thanks a lot for your help
