[Q] Chinese Xperia Z variants - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know a friend who is looking to buy a smartphone when he is in China, and I recommended the Xperia Z. Does anyone know if there are any hardware or software differences which would prevent Chinese Xperia Z variants from being flashed to the generic international stock firmware? He wants the Play Store et al, so if international firmware is flashed onto it, it should be fine, right? Thanks.

Right but flashing c6602 firmware.

All Chinese variants work with stock C6602 firmware, or is only the C6602 sold in China? That'll be great news for him

[Q] can I flash a c6603 10.3.A.0.423.ftf firmware work to C6602 ?

can I flash a c6603 10.3.A.0.423.ftf firmware work to C6602 ?
I don't know about 423, but I'm on 253 and not having any problem using 6603 rom on my 6602, it show 6603 on my about phone, and on network mode also show lte option which obviously we don't have it
even I use custom rom based on 6603 rom, and it all work just fine
btw if you want 4.2.2 specialty built for 6602, there is one from taiwan generic unbranded rom, look for it on general xz sub forum

I know for a fact that a 6602 ROM on 6603 causes the phone to become unstables. I noticed that the sim card was also not recognized.
I have been using C6603 firmware on my C6602 from 253 to 407 without any problem. Not sure about 423, but I don't think there should be any problem.

I flashed the C6603 Rom on my C6602 and my xz was stuck on a bootloop..then I flashed the .423 for C6602 by [NUT] and everything was fine..infact my battery life doubled..look at this pic below..it's 4.2.2 and .423..seriously very good battery life improvements..
Hit thanks if I helped u in any way.Sent from my Killer Xperia Z(C6602) using xda premium.

Difference between Xperia z1 honami, Non LTE, and LTE variant.

Hello. What are the difference between z1 honami and the non LTE version?
And can anyone clarify me that if the z1 honami variant is an international version, if it can be rooted and installed with custom rom.
I need the international version one.
Thanks in advance.

Honami was just the code name given to the Z1 during initial rumors and spec releases. All Z1's are the same with the exception of the radio chip included on the Snapdragon. So each version will support different frequencies. Some support LTE and some don't and of those that do, they can support different frequencies. The C6903 seems to be the most common but all can be rooted and support custom ROMs. Go to GSM arena to see which models support which bands.

Xperia z normal to play edition

Is is possible to convert xperia z normal to play edition by flashing an ftf?
We can get updates easily ryt.

Thats a good question,i guess you will need a custom recovery and bootloader unlocked because kernel and rom wont be of sony so i guess there wil not be a tft of a play edition but a zip

Well, being that FTFs are official software, where do you think you're going to find an FTF of software that doesn't exist?
There is no Xperia Z GPE, therefore there is no GPE software to flash to your phone.

custom roms are the way if ure interested in getting the google experience , unlikely to see a google edtion of the phone since its at least a year old but for z1ultra users this may be possible as there is a google edtion of the phone
