I currently using ICS 4.0.4 and would like to use JB. I am just trying to know if there is any means, we could able to use external sd card for the update as there is option...

if you are talking about the option is android recovery 3e then No. to install a new rom you need CWM recovery, Mobile odin or PC odin.

nokiamodeln91 is right, you need cwm , or Odin for flashimg new roms

if i download the german firmware JB and flash with odin, Will i get the update NEE? Do I need to have german CSC as well to install in in my GNote which is running NEE ICS 4.0.4

no you will not get the NEE update. Only DBT updates.. if NEE JB comes out then manually update using odin. You can install any rom.

Thank you!! I am installing right now. can't wait to test JB as samsung is taking long time to update in Finland.
once again thank you very much all of you.

Enjoy JB. But keep in mind that JB out of the box might not be smooth. You may need to root it and remove some boatwares.

I accidentally wiped out the internal memory @ ROM of my tablet ( Samsung SM-T330NU). It is now frozen on a download screen with the Android logo in the middle , I cannot turn it off or go into recovery mode with any of the usual buttons.
In addition, the PC doesn't see it, so I cannot use Odin either from the PC or the tablet.
How can I fix it? I thought I could download the stock firmware on the PC and copy it to the tablet external card, but I am not to sure how to do it. The stock firmware I was able to download is an MDS file. Can I copy it to the Ext SD card of the tablet as it is, or do I have to do something else?May be extract the files. How?
Thanks for the help
Ittiandro

Problem solved! . My tablet was able to connect to the computer with Odin and I could flash the Stock ROM . Never thought it would ! One of those wrong assumptions!
Thanks
Ittiandro

No need to do anything from CWM recovery, flashing with PC Odin will reset your system.. Just make sure it is a complete ROM and flash it using the steps described in the 2nd post of this thread
Thank u so much.I'll try right now.
Thank u matius. It worked.Need to know something now.I'm still waiting for ICS.But i don't want to wait anymore. I see there is a new rom added to dr.ketan's post for Galaxy Note.ICS ROms-N7000XXLPY-4.0.3-2012 May-N7000OXALPY-Open Germany. My question is - is it the full complete stock rom of ICS for Galaxy note?I'll be able to upgrade to ICS with pc odin, the same way i downgraded to KL3 firmware.N it will not harm my warranty? In there dr.ketan added the upgrade guide too. Here is the installation method by dr.ketan ---->
Install using Mobile Odin safely
- Download N extract ROM
- Copy Extracted file to a folder e.g ICS ROM On Ext/Int SD card
- Download CF Root for LPY
- Extract CF root till get zImage file
- Copy zImage file to same above said folder in SD car
- Open Mobile Odin
- Select 'Open file' N point to ROM file
- select Kernel tab N point to zImage file
- select Ever Root option
- Flash
- You will get ICS ROM + Root + CWM
But my question is now why i need CF root?Is it necessary for this rom?I just want to stay with a official stock rom of ICS without any root at this moment. So can i just download the rom n install it with pc odin?
O n as this N7000XXLPY-4.0.3 Rom is official then i think I'll be able to upgrade all the official upgrade in future through WiFi?Cause i heard when we use custom roms it's not possible to get the official upgrade through WiFi.That time all we need to download the upgrade file n flash it.

You don't need it. CF-root is only for those who want a rooted system with CWM. You can simply flash the rom using pc odin.

It's the official ICS rom for Germany. This means in theory it should be possible to download OTA updates. But I can't guarantee it since the rom is for Germany and it is possible that Samsung checks what rom for which geographical market is installed prior to providing the update for download. Maybe they refuse to update your system if the installed rom is from another country.
Thank u for ur reply. But i think when Samsung will release the Rom for my region i'll be able to flash it again?N should i use the same settings in odin? I mean only check the Auto Reboot n Reset time when i flash the official ICS Rom ?

About flashing via odin
Well I am having the same question.. Before rooting I made a backup using cwm, then my friend flashed ics stunner 5.0. I don't know how but it crashed and I restore my phone using cwm backup. Now it is the stock ics but the kernel is different.. It says abyss kernel.. My question now is that if I flash the rom using the above mentioned method will I get the stock rom+ stock kernel and second question, and what about the binary counter will it increase again.???

How to unroot my Galaxy note from cm9

Hello friends,
I'm using cm9 rom on my Samung Galaxy Note , now i wanna go back to stock rom and also wanna unroot my device.. can i just flash the stock rom and kernels directly or do i need to go through some other process.. and one more query is that , odin is not detecting my phone , so how can i flash the stock kernel and rom? ? reply Asap.. Thanks in advance
Yes flash straight way Stock GB ROM with Odin, then wipe cache and data.
Odin is not detecting then it is issue of driver. Uninstall kies and just install driver (find it from Toolbox on my signature)

Just flash stock GB rom using pc odin and you will be back to stock (unrooted as well). No need to flash kernel separately as flashing stock GB will also change kernel to stock. After flashing GB rom, you can either use odin to update to ICS or can use kies or OTA.
EDIT- Checked previous posts after posting mine

@safijunaid
Just like the previous posts said, you need to remove PC KIES completely from your PC and reinstall it again. The problem on PC ODIN not detecting your phone is that, your PC might have some corrupted Samsung/adb drivers (needed by PC ODIN as well), Reinstalling PC KIES will reinstall those corrupted or missing Samsung drivers on your PC, hence, next time you plug back your phone to connect to your PC, PC Odin will rightly detect it already. (It would have a yellow box :COM on it whiche means it had already detected your device).

[Q] How to update to stock ROM?

I have read:

My question: I have a SGN infected with the eMMC bug, and I want to upgrade it to the latest stock ROM. I know very little about flashing, and I know there are some risks when doing some things. I would like to know if the first link is safe for me, and which ROM I should use of the ones listed there (I live in The Netherlands). Do you guys have any tips or some guides made for the noobs among us?
that 1st link is the safest and best.
download the rom of. your choice. It. doesn't need to be of. your region. although you can check the latest firmware on www.samfirmware.com....
Once downloaded, use pc odin with the downloaded rom tar.md5 file selected in the pda tab. The connect the phone to pc in download mode and press start.
If you are upgrading to ics, then do not do any wipes, first flash a safe kernel...

Thanks for replying. Good to know that that thread is safe, but what do you mean by flashing a safe kernel? Those terms mean nothing to me.
theres two way to flash ROM. 1 is using PC ODIN and the other one is CWM
Flashing Via PC ODIN .. you need to have two thing.. The Rom You Want to flash and the PC-ODIN software
Flashing Via CWM.. you need two things. You need to root your phone and you need to install CWM.
every rom comes with modem, kernel (the file that govern how to handle your phone cpu), csc... the kernel inside ics is known to have brickbug
theres no need to flash kernel if you are flashing Rom via PC ODIN... Flashing kernel is when you are using CWM....

So, I can just flash any ROM using ODIN, and there will be no risk bricking my device?
If I flash a ROM, will I have a fresh install, and will my kernel also change so that I don't have the brickbug anymore?

yes you can flash any ROM using ODIN safely without bricking your device.
yes you will have a fresh install. your kernel will change too. as for the brickbug....
If you flash via PC ODIN then everything is stock to what you flashed.the kernel the firmware the csc the modem..all as stock provided....
1.If you flash ICS via PC-ODIN then your kernel also would be stock ics kernel that has brickbug..
Warning :
Don't wipe anything from stock ICS recovery
Don't factory reset/Hard reset on stock ICS.
Don't flash any Wipe version of ICS ROM
let say you want to flash Latest JB Rom but you are on ICS stock.
first thing you need to do is root your device ...install CWM.. Flash safe kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
let say ive rooted... installed CWM with safe kernel...
what i always do is everytime i want to flash new rom whatever rom it is...i flash Speedmod 3-15 (safe kernel) and go to Advance>reboot recovery and flash any rom i want so that im on the safe side without worrying what kernel im on.
2.If you flash GB than your kernel will be GB kernel which is safe to wipe..
if you want to flash custom rom from gb then you root your device and installed CWM and Flash since GB kernel is safe.
but.. let say u flashed ICS and wanted to go back to GB. then you are not safe anymore,,, that is why i always flashed Speedmod kernel 3-15 (safe kernel) and reboot recovery (by going to advance>rebootrecovery) and flashed any rom... that way im always sure that im in safe kernel when flashing Rom

If you have a backup, you can flash Philz kernel if you are not already running and restore it. Flashing stock firmware with Odin PC is fine also, but you will lose data.

Stock ICS kernel is not safe, JB devs are not sure yet. So, I would recommend to flash Philz kernel in stock recovery, then reboot recovery, do a full wipe and there you can re flash stock firmware.
That is the safest way to do it. DO NOT WIPE in stock kernel.

Download JB firmware for you phone and install it with Odin, like you did that kernel. That kernel is for Gingerbread, that's why you get that problem. It will be fixed. Btw we do not have Odin flashable kernel with TWRP, that's how I know it was for GB. New time download CoCore for JB and unpack it. Use kernel.bin.md5 to install it with Univeral kernel flash app and some root explorer. You need to root it first with Shaaan's method.
