i hope im not the only one having this issue.....im on jellybean.....i have all my custom tones set for my contacts in handcent but everytime i plug my phone into the computer im noticing it resets all my tones....itll just have random numbers set as tones that dont make any sound....any advice?

ok, i have used search and skimmed through 14 pages of results and i don't know what has happened but i can't get any notifications for sms. i still get vibrations and rings from phone calls but i get nothing from sms. i have checked the settings, sounds and notifications, etc tab. i have downloaded and installed schaps advancedconfig and it didn't help. i haven't changed anything before this. i have a stock rom/radio. i haven't installed any new programs or changed any settings in forever and as of today i can't get a vibrate to save my life.
please help if you can.

I had a problem just like this, i believe. It was because i had set the SMS notification sound as an MP3, i think if it's set as something that's not a default tone. After a while i would get no sound for SMS notifications. i couldn't find anyone else with the problem, and the only fix I've found is to just set it back to a defualt tone. Then you should get the sound back, and vibrate too.
I am having the same problem. Haven't found a solution yet.

i know you have said you havent changed settings however have you disabled threaded sms?
I like the original poster are running the stock rom which is not wm 6.1, so no threaded sms.
haven't disabled threaded, haven't changed the notification, haven't installed new proggies, havent changed any settings what-so-ever. i got my phone where i liked it around 2 months ago and i haven't changed anything since. and this started happenning yesterday. :'-(

check sounds and notifications and sounds tab and make sure BOTH of the first check boxes are checked. i disabled events once thinking it was just the bleep sound from windows and turns out it includes messageing but not phone rings. I was in the same situation for months stumped on this lol

Hi I seem to have a problem....every time I receive a text message my diamond only vibrates only once....I have missed many important messages recently.
I have the profile set to "vibrate"
Do you guys have any ideas to solve this?

Hi guys, I am using Dutty's 4 ROM and I noticed that whenever a new MMS comes in for my Diamond, there will only be a short beep once and thats all. Even thought I have set the ringtone for new MMS and I can hear it when I press the play button, when a real new MMS comes in, only a beep is heard.
Anybody have any solution? Thanks.
Check settings...
First, just check your settings. For MMS there are two notification tones... 'New MMS received' and 'New MMS downloaded'. Make sure you've set tones for both. If this isn't the issue, post in Dutty's ROM forum and ask the man himself - you may not be the only one with this issue
I had the same problem. Set both the received and downloaded notification to the same tone as suggested and it works ;-)

Sometimes it happens that for person for which I dedicated separate ringtone, default phone ringtone rings.
Does it happen to anybody here? I am using Gingerbread 2.3.3. default with CF-Root.

Do you have your contacts synced with google? If yes, make sure that the contact you have a custom ringtone also have a duplicate on the phone contacts joined with the google one. Else, each time your contacts are getting synced with google, the custom ringtone will get lost (actually it will still show on the contact but will not play).
It happens even if I don't sync with Google. It happens randomly. The person calls me, default ringtone is ringing. After 10 seconds same person calls me, dedicated ringtone is ringing. I don't know what is happening...
Also, the same happens with contact which is only in my phone (not synced with google).

Not sure about this but I think it my be network related. It happens to me occasionally, and when it does I usually notice a drop in call quality.
It also used to happen on my stock Xperia X10 Mini, so I doubt it's anything on the phone's side.
I had this back on eclair, but then noticed it was happening on calls taken shortly after having mounted the SD in USB... so now I put my ring tone mp3 in the data folder were the android ring tones are, and never had the problem again ;-)
My ringtone is stored on phone (not on SD) but in separate folder. Maybe I should put it into system folder but I think it doesn't matter since custom ringtone and default ringtone are on the same folder. Default ringtone is also custom MP3 which is used for all other calls except only two contacts.
So, to be clear, instead of custom caller ringtone, it is ringing "default" custom ringtone (not default Samsung ringtone). Hmmm...

no solution yet the best response (not verified) to me seems to be
"Haven't reverse-engineered the source code, but it happens when the phone is busy. I suspect that when the CPU is busy, the correct ringtone is not drawn from the SQLite on time. In that case, some default is played after some timeout, be it the default or just the previous ringtone."
I have installed handcent, and I seem to be having trouble after having assigned different notifications tones to my contacts.. When I receive a message from that contact, instead of me hearing the tone I set for that person it appears to just play the standard htc default tone.
How can I stop this from happening?
