I just bought a new 32gb memory card, and im curious if it's possible to merge my two internal storage partition into one big ROM partition?
Currently the interal storage is divided like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Is it possible to merge this in to one partition, so that I don't need to have 3 different partitions when I use my SD card?
nope thats not possible at all. not in my knowledge. both are totally different type of storage with different allocated addresses, one being much faster than other. plus when u plug ur phone to a computer or to a usb
the memory card is not readable by the phone during that time. So no you cant merge the two.

Ah, okay. I thought the two partitions came from the 16 GB storage.
If I recall correctly, I think I saw a post on how to it do a long time ago. Couldn't seem to find it again though.

You're correct, the two partitions do come from the 16 GB emmc.:good:
But still, you can't merge them.

is that normal ?
i think the problem with the phone storage !
only 6 MB free !! thats really too little and slows my phone down!
although :
- i install all programs on Internal 4GB Storage
- all camera photos and all music on Internal 4GB storage
i dont know why its low space and i dont know how to clean it !!
any help ?
no any fix.. ?
right click the storage using file explorer on your PC. Click search.
In the search criteria specify all files (including hidden files) over 1MB or 1000KB and hit search. See what files come up. Delete unnecessary files or move to internal storage if files required.
Try clearing the opera cache and/or the google maps cache if you have an older version of google maps which stores the cache in phone memory.
New versions of google maps can be installed to internal storage and will put the cache there aswell...
supersanj
i did what u said and i found alot of strange files to me, but how to know if there are necessary or not for windows !! ..
Just leave the files where they are will you? I wouldn't be suprised if you install all your programs to main memory instead of internal storage, I'm also pretty sure you got some sort of theme installed
i install all programs on "internal storage" memory not "device" memory..
Whenever I switch out sd cards it freezes why is that?
Can this be fixed?
need way more info about what you're running to answer that
I use a rom and both have the 3 partions and both have the music but whenever I want to switch the G1 frooze on me. I use MotoBlur Rom
umm. apps2sd?
apps2sd yes

Then there's your answer... you're taking out the sdcard on which applications are running from, ofc its gonna freeze... Its like you take out your hard drive from your computer and then suddenly wonder why it stopped working...
i'm not trying to be mean, but do you understand your 3 partitions? you music resides on the fat32 that you can see when you mount it to your pc. the ext2/3/4 is where your apps reside. that doesn't show when you mount to your pc. so when you put in your other card. your apps are missing, hence the fcs.
so then what should I do to get my other card working? Reboot?
Its almost impossible to switch cards with apps2sd. You either need to copy all the apps from one sdcard to the other sdcard and mirror them back and forth or take off apps2sd.

Here's one way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534714
There's a script in here to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563679
Also there is an app called BART that will back up your ext partition
There is another way to do it in terminal, you can also do it in Ubuntu. So there are multiple ways of doing this.
sillyshyme, you are just full of these

It didn't help, some other ideas?
For me there was only one Solution that really worked. Unfortunatelly i cant remember its exact name. So i ll try to describe it.
There are two almost the same tools. First one is testdisk and the another ones name i am not sure. So try google testdisk for (recover,undelete) sd card or so, then google how to use it. It is a commandprompt-like tool, but quite simple to use.
Hope i helped sorry for my english.
I highly recommend testdisk.
Use easy recovery professional

If ur using Windows, u can use Recuva.
Mount SDcard when connecting ur X8...select the Music option in recuva..select your sdcard as location to search and u'll have ur music back.
Try Recuva

Dear XDA,
I've freshly installed Maximus HD 45. And it's working, no problems there.
But when I look at my storage I see something strange. I have 12.10gb used by 'Other'.

I've found some strange paths on my phone (taken from WiFi File Transfer Pro):
../storage/emulated/0/
../storage/emulated/legacy/
../storage/sdcard0/
They all seem to redirect to my internal storage.
Probally some leftover bugs from previous custom roms?
Is it possible to completely clean my storage without removing TWRP and Maximus HD? Or in worst case scenario I don't mind reinstalling a clean Maximus HD. But I prefer not to do to much modding on the phone, like installing a different RUU. Currently I live in Zanzibar and I have limited options (and internet!) when something goes awohl.
If it's a whole lot of effort I keep it like this. It's annoying but I can live with it. But if it's an easy fix then I would gladly do that!
Thanks in advanced!
Lennard
that's normal. to see what's using up your space I recommend you use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobile_infographics_tools.mydrive
I'm not a huge expert on the technical side of Android devices but in my experience, those are the three common file paths to access internal storage. I do not know the exact reason as to why there must be three file paths. But it is normal. Nothing to worry about.

Dear Community,
So I'm using the Nexus 6 with 32gb and after flashing a custom rom (Chroma Rom) I noticed that I'm missing ~3gb free total space.
So I searched around a bit and using logcat i found some partitions that were 1.4gb and had almost no data on it (less than 1mb).

Is this the missing space? Is there a way to add these back to the "normal" partition so they can be used?

generally, when you flash a rom, itll wipe out all your different caches, which can take a lot of space. anyways, if you don't ever wipe out your caches manually, it can be a HUGE amount of space.

Oops, sorry, I meant total space, not free space! Before I had something 26gb-ish and now there's only 23,03gb left..
