I've just got my Xperia Z phone today (6602), inserted SIM card, personalized it and everything, but every single time i press the power button, it enters the demo mode on the phone. The wallpaper and brightness settings always reset no matter how i change it. I went through the apps, but there's no way of disabling it. Is there some way i can remove this thing because it auto sets my phone on maximum brightness and drains the battery like no tomorrow.
Also, there's a widget that says "Touch Here for Details on Xperia Z"
No matter how many times i remove that widget, it resets.

Thank you. I just contacted my AT&T store reps and they informed me this was a floor demo model. I got this phone from Negri Electronics as a new, sealed phone and was surprised it was a demo phone when i paid full retail price for it. If not for your help, I would've gone to the painstaking process of rooting and/or reflashing my rom. Is there a significant difference between the floor model versions and the retail ones? If not, I might as well continue using it w/o the hassle. If i resell this phone later on, would there be problems (lower resell value)? If yes, I'll contact Negri for a replacement.
Thanks in advance. +rep for your help.

Usually floor models are just retail units with the demo mode activated

Dear Sir,
i just realize that my xperia z1 is a demo phone and i cant remove that application , can you please help me with this issue
Hi, I also have the same problem with the Z1... Not even root resolves the problem because the phone starts to lag horribly - guess it tries to start demo mode and it starts looping.
I tried the *#*#sellmore#*#* but it asks me to activate demo mode and not cancel it.
Someone please help! I can't stand this phone reseting itself any longer.
Thanks
BTW I did activate and deactivate the sellmore function and no change.

Hello guys,
same thing here on a Xperia Z that i have bought second hand from a guy, and i did not notice it untill i got home.
I found a temporary solution to deactivate the annoying demo mode, you can go to Settings>Apps>running apps and kill the process RETAIL DEMO, you just click it and press STOP untill it became inactive.
Also if somebody have solve it permanently, maybe it can tell us, i was thinking to root, but it`s a little bit harder because it`s running on Android 4.4.4.
i have sony xperia e4 dual phone and it perform like demo phone last 6 month please help me that i disable the retail mode

Can this be fixed with an update?
I'm planning to switch my S3 for a white model that doesn't vibrate no matter what. And he/she isn't the only one with a non vibrating XZ.
Also how does the screen compare to S3 bar viewing angles.

Never heard of that issue, at least I don't have.
As for the viewing angle, there are plenty of reviews and videos out there which are self explanatory.
Not vibrating issues? Elaborate... Was it like that out of the box, did it work at some point and now it doesn't? Give us some more info than just saying "not vibrating".
If it didn't function out of the box, return it.
If you've rooted it, and flashed a ROM, and it doesn't work, go back to where u came from.
In case it doesn't work after that, yer outta luck. Luckily I never had to go to a repair process.
Screen subpar compared to others? That was highlighted in many reviews before the phone was on the market, so if you did not pay attention to reviews, that is yer own fault.
Plus you had time to return it after the initial purchase.... Assuming that it was purchased in a normal fashion.
And please. Not specifying an issue does not actually help. It adds to the general confusion.
Is like stating that the volume on yer tv doesn't work, without stating how, and since when it happened. Could be a "person in chair" symptom as we perceive it in the IT world....

Device is pure stock, never modified. C6603 model no vibrating. Seller claims since day 1 after a few hours (it did vibrate initially). I've seen a couple of threads on xda with same issue to no avail.
Don't know what over info to provide. It's not my phone, I'm planning to buy
@23Six
Do you have Stamina Mode on in your C6603? Try switching off, restarting phone. Also, through service menu, does the vibration work?
I'm afraid of asking the seller to do these things, fixing the phone and potentially losing out one one hell of a deal!
I'm buying the phone online. Local pickup.
Mate it is a hardware issue.. I faced this since when i opened the box. Dont waste time and ask Sony/Seller for replacement. I have already sent mine..

I would advise you not to buy the device then. Just my 2 cents....
Is it normal that the vibration intensity rises when you press the touchscreen repeatedly ? I mean if I dial a phone number very quick, or just press one number on the dialpad I can hear the vibrator going faster, is this normal?

I had similar but then realised I was being rather stupid (although you could argue the design is somewhat stupid...). Basically, when you turn the volume down all the way, there's 2 modes. If you go one click past zero volume with the rocker on the side of the phone, the phone should vibrate to let you know it's in silent and vibrate mode. However, if you click the volume down again, it shuts off all sound AND vibrations. So what I was doing is just mashing down on the volume down button and not realising I was shutting off vibrate.
Guess I'll just have to send the phone in for repair. I'll hold for now because I'm in live with this phone.
I got for an S3 trade + £0.00 !

My phone's screen just went black suddenly while i was using the phone last night. Nothing i do will wake the screen up, i tried rebooting by holding the power button, tried power+volume down also to boot into recovery .. no response. However the phone seems to be functioning as i can hear the screen lock sound. I think im stuck on the pin screen (the one to pass the boot-up-encryption). theres some vibration and feedback when i randomly press on the screen too.
The device is running Stock 6.0.1 , unrooted , stock kernel. Has this ever happened to anyone else ? could it be a software issue ?
I believe the LCD panel just went dead ..
Thanks!
Have you hooked it up to a computer and tried to see if it's recognised by ADB?

I had a nexus that had a faulty screen and randomly shut off or something half the screen will glitch out and one day it just stopped working but I could hear the lockscreen sounds. Your best bet would be to send it in for service maybe its a loose connecting or a hardware issue. When mine started acting up it was a loose connecting so if I hit the phone with my hand it would go back to normal and then it stopped working. Its a common issue if you do a google search many people have encountered this
That sounds to me like a return-under-warranty job. If you were in the UK you could quote the Sale of Goods Act, which specifies that an item must be of suitable quality and last a reasonable amount of time, but in my case when I returned my faulty N5 to Google after 18 months they were as good as gold, didn't quibble, simply replaced it with a refurbished one which appeared to me to be indistinguishable from brand new.
Since by definition your phone must be very close to its warranty period, depending on when you got it, I'd start with that. This is the link I used from the UK - maybe different if you're elsewhere, but you should find a link called "Get a call from a hardware specialist":

That makes sense. could be just a loose connector between the LCD panel and the MoBo ..
Problem is i live in Jordan and I got the phone from Dubai. Its still under warranty of the seller (Souq.com ; an online store .. kind of like Amazon of the middle east ), So i have to send my phone to Dubai to fix it. Now i could just go to a local phone repair shop and ask the guy to check the connectors, but im afraid that would void the warranty and not solve the problem ;( .

Hello everyone, I am from India and My HTC One is rooted, unlocked and international version.
I am in an urgent need of help as I am not able to figure out what has happened to my HTC One M7 and due to that don't know what to do next.
So all this happened last night, that is, 20th of February.
I have Insertcoin-7.1.3-REPACK-M7_UL_L50_SENSE70_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.2 ROM with Elementalx kernel, installed on my device.
I was uninstalling few apps from my device, during the procedure it started to hang so I had to restart it then again I continued uninstalling another app or the same app if it didn't uninstalled due to hang. This hanging thing happened for about 5 or 6 times as I was removing so many apps! So I restarted it for about 5-6 times and after uninstalling all the apps that I didn't needed, I opened avast antivirus cleanup app to free up the space covered by junk files. and during its procedure, again my htc got hang and I again tried to restart it and since then I am not able to switch it on, the only response that I can get it after pressing the power button, it boots upto the HTC logo then nothing happens! and when I tried to go into recovery and install a fresh rom, I easily get into bootloader menu and the volume key works fine as navigation but as soon as I tried to go into recovery by pressing power button, it hangs, I also tried to do a factory reset from the bootloader but same thing, its hanging. And when I plug it in charger, the led keeps blinking. I don't know what's wrong and what to do next. I have learned a lot from XDA, I hope you guys can help me out! thank you in advance.

Yes I know what it means, unfortunately. That basically mean you can throw it in a garbage can
QHSUSB_DLOAD can happen for known 2 reasons
You flashed an incompatible firmware and right after that it went it this mode - recoverable
It randomly went in this mode = hardware failure - unrecoverable/must replace the motherboard.
Since you were experiencing hangs when playing with files, I guess this is confirming an hardware issue, maybe with the EMMC.

Damn! That's sad to hear, I think that the reason is the second one only because it's been few months since I have been using that ROM and KERNEL, and It was working smoothly, not even a single error occurred ever. any idea about how much does that motherboard cost? I bought my HTC for 43,000 INR in August 2014, that too the single sim version and currently dual sim version is coming for 24,000 INR so I am not in favor of investing a huge amount into it.

Hey there,
Even I had the exact same issue(out of country device-stuck at boot screen-unable to enter boot loader mode-no solutions give above works)[/B] from the last one and half week. I gave the mobile to the HTC service center and today I got a call telling that the mobile's motherboard has to be replaced and since it is a out of country device, the change will cost INR.16,500
And so I told them to return my mobile.
So don't go for changing the motherboard and best is to try some alternatives like selling or repairing by ourselves.
Some one if you feel that there is way for this issue PLEASE post it. It will help us a lot........
Please guys IT IS URGENT......IT IS HELL WITHOUT A MOBILE U LOVE

Hey! Thanks a lot for sharing your issue with me. I am thinking to first get it checked by the service center and let's see what they say and how much amount they ask for, I am in a favor of only investing 2-3k, not more than that. If they asked for more than 5k. I'll order motherboard directly or manage it from somewhere and will get it fixed from some local shop.
I love my phone but don't wanna invest much as I already have purple tint issue and I was thinking to get it repaired and now I've an another issue which should be fixed first.

Ive seen some MB replaced for around USD 150-200$ so I wouldn't expect to get it repaired under 5000 INR
You can find a motherboard for the international variant around 95$ (6500 INR). Cheaper MB (around USD 60$) like the Sprint and Verizon variant won't fit in your phone. If ordering a motherboard online also make sure it was not salvaged from a blacklisted phone as the IMEI# is tied to the motherboard so if you change your MB you'll get a new IMEI and you don't want it to be blacklisted. If you never repaired a phone before then expect some more fees cause you will most likely broke something when disassembling it, like a lot of ppl did.

Hi everybody!
I bought a powerbank with wireless charging function (interstep 10DQi). I put the phone on charge. After 30 minutes, I took it off and it turned off. Now you can't turn it on. Turn on only if put it back on the wireless charger or connect to wire.

Did you buy it from Google or 3rd party? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to foreign purchases and their limitations. Obviously, you speak English well enough to give them a call at the US phone number and beg for help. I think even if you bought it at a retailer they might make good. Just gotta get the right CSR on the phone. Good luck.
I'd try to flash the full image, that will sometimes bring one back from the dead.
Try using a different charger.

I agree with @krabman ... if the phone is BL unlocked. Fastboot flash the full factory image (not OTA) allowing it to wipe data. If you cannot unlock the bootloader for some reason (oem unlocking toggle is grayed out in dev settings) then try a rescue OTA, which is flashing the full OTA image in recovery via adb. Instructions on how to do this are on the same page as the OTA images. You're not going to get anywhere with Google with a 3rd party purchased phone in an unsupported country.
Why would you buy the phone from a 3rd party knowing that you may not get any support from Google for it?
Why would you use a charger that isn't certified with QI charging which the phone supports?
Sorry I do feel bad that you are having this issue but to me it sounds like you didn't do you research and broke your own phone.
Hi All.
Battery stuck on 50% won't change even when charge or discharge. Today it randomly shutdown in my pocket. and then had a battery symbol with a ?. The phone eventually turned on, I've tried turning off location, rebooting still having issues. Sometimes the battery saving mode stops working, i.e. it cannot be turned on. As I can see the problem concerns a large group of users and nobody knows what this problem is related to. Google is silent as usual. Is this a problem with the software or components ?! I am in a bad situation because I have no warranty for the device and I do not know where to send the phone in Poland because no one knows what is the cause of the problem. Help me please.

Had this.
This is going to sound dumb:
Shut your phone off.
Now squeeze the phone around the G logo on the back (like you're trying to compress it).
Now turn it back on and charge normally.
This is potentially only a temporary fix as I have no idea how this would be software related.
If you can enter bootloader mode, you still have chance to save your phone by yourself :
(1)Make sure there is fastboot&ADB tool in your computer
If you don't have it, please download from here(https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools). To click the one depends on which one of OS you have and then install in your computer
(2)Download google factory image file from here(https://developers.google.com/android/images). To choose the model of your phone and download it then extract file.
(3)Reboot your phone to bootloader mode. Then use USB cable and make phone connected to your computer USB port. Then execute the window commend mode. key in
fastboot devices ===> make sure your phone being catched by your computer
flash-all ===> To build up a whole new pixel OS in your phone.
Good luck !

This is going to sound dumb:

Ive had my pixel 4 xl since november and it just started automatically shutting off when in my pocket all by it self a few weeks ago , took cell phone to my sevice provider and they sent it in for repair ...received a new phone ...well refurbished p4 xl only to have if start happening again days later and have the 50% battery start happening also ....contacted google and they are in the process of sending me a new refurbished p4 xl , so this will be my 3 rd p4 xl ..lol
very frustrating to say the least ....ive had to hard reboot my phone at least 20 times a day or basically keep it out of any pockets , the is common issue apparently with pixels phones from what i've read in the link https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/22397169?hl=en
I've talked with loyalty department at my service provider and if it happens again with the pixel that google sends me , then they will allow me to void my contract and supply me with a new device from a different brand ...ie Samsung or apple or whatever else is available on the market right now on there website.
i'll be really bummed if i have to switch to a samsung or apple buuuuuut need a stable device ...lol
So to anyone having this issue that still has a basic warranty, there are at least 2 options ...rma device over and over till you get one that doesn't have this problem or contact service provider and explain your situation and most likely they will be understanding to the fact that you have purchased a 1200.00 phone that requires constant rma's and hopefully allow you to exchange for a different brand of phone that doesn't have this these problems

I fully understand you. I am in a worse position. As a loyal Google fan, I bought my pixel from someone who didn't have a proof of purchase. In Poland it was difficult to get it, and as it was 1.5 times more expensive than everywhere else. It seems that I can throw out the pixel and buy another phone for a lot of money. I am most annoyed by the company's attitude. It looks like they are xxxxx on us.

This is the "No Warranty Solution" : Flash a full factory image and allow it to completely wipe your phone. This is the second step Google support would give you (the first is doing a factory data reset from Recovery). If after flashing your phone, restoring it to the original "out of the box" state, you still have a battery issue, then the next step is to replace your battery. If you forgot to state in your OP that your bootloader is still locked (so you can't flash the image) then you need to do that first. Bottom line is you need to factory reset the phone to rule out a software issue. If the restored phone still has the same problem, then you need to focus on the hardware. Best of luck. :good:
Yes, it does !

Same happened to me with 4 XL 64.
I've been able to "fix" with the turn off and squeeze but the problem has turned into the battery discharge displayed gets stuck at a percentage and it won't charge. I have to turn off & squeeze to get it back.
Finally called Google and they are making me send my phone in for repair. Now I assume for turnaround sake, they'll just send me a new refurb back. That also means I'm not confident the problem will be resolved as there are over 150 replies on the Google Support page identifying this problem.

Looks like some folks are getting a replacement before sending the problem phone back but others are required to send it in or drop off at repair facility.
Good for me? I have Preferred Care and I'll keep sending them back until I get one that works.
Bad for me? I'll have to keep sending them back + I splurged on the orange color so I doubt I'll ever see that again.
I've actually dealt with this. This is a hardware issue. I had the same problem. Covered by warranty, I took it to ubreakitifix after contacting Google and they took care of me. Trust me this isn't a issue where you can flash this or squeeze that. This is a hardware issue on Google's part. There's nothing you can do as a phone user about a defective battery in a 6+ month old $1000 phone

You might be able to convince them to send you a device before you ship it off, citing the current global situation and a need for a cell phone
OP lives in Poland and has no receipts or warranty. Poland is not a supported country so he is looking for "non-warranty" solutions.

The return process was pretty great. I shipped my existing phone off on a Monday (Illinois to Texas) and by the following Monday, I received my exact phone back (has a screen protector on it). I was very satisfied with that. HOWEVER, the "repair" still has an issue where if I charge to 100%, the icon stays at 100% until I reboot and then it'll display the correct battery %.
The repair documentation was a bit vague and said they replaced the "charging port". I still believe there's a unannounced hardware issue. Can anyone say, class action????

I wonder what the next step would be if I started another repair claim?
Holding the power button down for more than 3 consecutive seemed to solve a similar issue for me. My P4 was holding certain percentages for too long (even though the phone actually lost more).

This post seems to have been ignored. If it happens to me, I'll try that. But my carrier purchase didn't qualify for Google extended care add-on. Standard warranty only. Does that make a difference in what Google would do in this case?
I use Accubattery and monitor charge cycles for "battery wear". Even following "Battery College" recommendations, battery health has dropped from 99 to 95%; I've had the P4XL since November. I'm now slowing the charge, getting away from power delivery to see if that helps slow the wear. SOT varies greatly per charge.
I use a belt pouch for carrying phone while away from home. Rarely, I put it in my pocket but do so at home- front pocket only- never back pocket. May just be bad phone batteries from what I've read.

For 5 weeks my Pixel has been in the authorized repair center in Germany. They don't have parts to fix it. They told me that. It is not known how long this may take. I haven't had such a circus with a good smartphone. I love Google products, but I feel very disappointed because Pixel cost me a lot of money and this is definitely a factory defect.

Sorry to hear this, and surprising, as Germany is a supported country with many authorized repair centers. Did you send it to PSC? They claim to be Google-certified and have all factory parts? COVID-19 may also be delaying things. Hope things turn out well for you. :good:
