Hi, I just bought my HTC Desire C and there is a lot of default apps that I don't use and I would like to remove them. Even if I remove for example Google +, it gets installed again automaticly. I know that the possible way to do it would be by rooting my device but I'm not sure if that would affect the warranty, so I'm a bit worried doing that. If there is any other way to do it without rooting my device, please tell me.
If you don't want to root your phone, just leave xda right away
Without kidding, nope there's no way to delete system apps without rooting

Root Only
If there System apps, like Phenziox said you need root. so if you dont want to root then you cant go no further

:/ And will it affect the warranty?
Only if the actions you undertook that used root dashed your device. It will not otherwise
Ps I would greatly appreciate a "thanks"

This is my second Android, my last one I used Cyanogen Mod, and I also tested other roms. I've rooted the phone to be able to move apps to SD card because it was a not recent version of Android... And I noticed that in terms of battery for example, it was even worst than the original version... and there are always something that don't work proprely... and I decided to keep this phone system completely original... I'm just worried because my HTC don't have even a month and if there is any problem they may not accept the warranty because I've rooted the phone? don't know just precaution
if a custom ROM is worse then the original, there's a reason behind it which you need to find, but you can certainly rule out rooting as a possibility. I can confirm, a good custom ROM such as Revolution Sense 3.1 is simply miles better then the original, this is why we are using it.
Any software or brick problem?
Most answers and solutions is on xda
Hardware problem?
You need warranty
But there are some shops that have parts

Right.. do you know any link where I can found more info about that ROM? If everything works properly and there are "reasonable" bugs, and some improvements, I'll consider change it to that ROM.
man, check in the development section: Revolution Sense Edition 3.1:good:

I got this phone couple days ago and I stumbled upon this forum to notice many different themes. I was wondering how you change it from the original Captivate theme to the themes the makers made here. Thanks
Are you rooted? Do you have a certain rom? Because you cant get a theme from developers until your rooted and have a Rom that the theme is for?

Here's an easy way to see if your rooted, go into your apps and see if you have an app called superuser. If you do, then you are rooted but if not then you are not. As for the rom I'm not sure as to what rom you have I'm not sure.

Read this guide over, it will explain how to install a custom rom, which is basically ( in very simplified terms) just a new very advanced theme that replaces the old stock one that comes with the phone. That link can tell you everything you need to know. Just be REALLY careful! the first time I tried to install a new rom my phone got messed up and i couldn't use it for three days. But anyways, have fun and welcome to the site!

I suggest Phoenix as your ROM. Its very simple to use and has good speed and good battery life. It's the first rom I had .
Here's the link http://www.phoenix-hq.com/ to the site with the downloads from everything from the Rom to Themes for the Rom to wallpapers.

is there any method anyone has used to successfully root this phone?
I have got the superuser app for it i have it installed, but it doesn't work which is annoying, i tried to install busybox but it has got to be rooted thought it might of helped bypass it but nope lol
i hope S-off, rooting and custom ROM support darktremor app2sd will appear very soon
i've tried all the rooting options on this with no luck yet

i have managed to install this and boot into the bootmenu, the screen is distorted tho so cant see what the menus actually are.
install apk from market called "defy 2ndinit" open app and install the bootmenu, it will pull files from the net to install.
there will be a blue led on at all times aswell even when phone is booted normally
power off phone
plug charger in
you will see distorted bootmenu
hope someone can fix the distortion
edit: you can uninstall using the app with no side effects
This thread has several versions of the app attached as apk's. Maybe this will help someone.

if you dont install CWM and only this, when power off phone, plug charger in, you get a nice battery icon with percentage for abit, when disappears just press volume button to see the battery and percentage again

If you didn't know it may brick your phone, you probably had no business trying it in the first place. Btw, OP really doesn't help us get any closer to bringing over ROMs. This is a defy app and hasn't been reworked for the Atrix yet. It is probably something edgan needs to incorporate, but I would stay away from this.

This is the "development" forum. This is not stable code. Try re-flashing an SBF file.
when you say you tested it, you say waht MAY happen also, i reflashed the sbf service file, but man, you dont really know how to post stuff, you always says it can be harmfull, if you dont, that means it works a 100%, but thats ok, nothing i dont fixed with 20 minutes
ps:by the way it may not work on retail(and maybe on all) brazillian system
it enters in the second init, but system do not allow to boot the official because of it, to get this being used we need to have a custom ROM able to boot using it
edit:
henrys01 do you already saw one single forum "stable rom"? ROMs, recoveries and all that kind of thing are always in development, even stable!
stevendeb25 sorry for that, rage attack =( it dont worked, i already explained why
LordOfTheSnatch i came for this since the first ROM to motorola dext, if i did that, i know the harms, but yeah, lets stay out of this while doesnt have one made or ported for atrix
dont get me wrong, but im pissed now, one of the things is because it doesnt worked, sorry for anything

Everyone who knows what they are doing knows it can brick your phone, especially when it isn't made for your phone. The other people just get what's coming to them for doing stuff they don't understand without researching first.
First rule of flashing.... IT MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE. Even if it is stable.

Thanks for the quick response + The anwser.
It will allow you to use apps the require root permissions (obviously)
You can backup things
Modify /system files, including deleting bloatware
Not much for the regular user
However when you install a custom ROM/kernel, you can do much more. Over clocking, undervolting, mods, more mods, supercharge, optimize for performance. Custom ROMs have more features, such as venom which has everything customisable.
Main reason for rooting for me was to install custom ROMs and kernels.

Yeah thanks,
The main reason for me wanting to root my phone is because Optus has installed Apps(Bloatware) Which can't be uninstalled, and it drains the battery life :l

Help would be nice,

List of ROMs you installed while "trying out different ROMs". Nine to ten odds you accidentally grabbed something out of the international forums.
Either way, you will likely need to RUU to stock.
More information please. Are you rooted? Do you have a custom recovery? Which is it? Have you tried to access your recovery? If you can get into recovery, you can flash a new ROM, if you have one in memory. If not, you can sideload one. And as the guy above posted, what ROMs have you tried to flash so far? You cannot flash any ROM that does not specifically say m7spr in the title. Ours is a different device, regardless of how they are the same hardware.

Which to me is essentially the same as saying "a case is not necessary to your phone until you smash your phone." Bad flashes do happen, I'll admit that, but they're rarer than they used to be. Flashing the wrong ROM has basically always been a cause for problems, and people need to take more care not to do it to begin with.

Wow, talk about hyperbolic exaggeration. I'm well aware that people are being idiots and flashing GSM ROMs, but if you don't know what you're doing you're just as likely to screw up getting S-OFF or fail to do an RUU. The point is that no amount of precautionary measures are going to save someone from carelessness.
