Galaxy tab 8.9 3g not working - Galaxy Tab 8.9 General

Ok, my tablet was an sgh-i957 (lte at&t version), but it was bricked, so i bought a jtag service on ebay, and after i receive the tablet, the boot loader was of the p7320 model, so i flash the tablet with the sgh-i987 stock rom, but after flash, the memory intern memory was just 127 mb (it was the only problem, the other things was working good, even the 3g and 4g), so i re-flashed the tablet with a stock ICS rom, from Norway(Telenor). All was working good, but..Now i have another problem, my 3g is not working, the stock rom that i use is from Norway (telenor), and the bands that they use for the 3g are 900/2100MHz, but i need the 850 / 1900 bands to make it work in at&t, how can i solve this?, can i flash another modem to back to the 850 / 1900, or make it quad band.
Thanks for the help!!!!

Do you know of your current Rom is honeycomb or ics? There may be a custom rom you could try or a rom update.

is your phone the north american i9000m or the international? international phones have no 850 support. any bell modem (jl2, kc1, etc) will automatically enable 850.
go into the band selection, then wcdma, then pick 850 only. if the phone switches to the 850 band then your good, just go back in and pick automatic

My phone used to be the i9000m but I changed it to the i9000. It doesn't connect to the 850 network, when I select the 850 only.
I used the jl2 modem with jvk and now jvb. Works great. You will not be able to get 850 with a european modem.

The problem is I am running the UGKC1 modem which is our new one in Canada.
UGJK4 should work for you.
If you can't find it search for "Perka's File Stash". I can't post url's yet.

It's still an i9000m, hardware wise, so you should try reflashing the modem. There is no reason kc1 shouldn't work on your device
Wait wait wait. Isn't the international version missing the hardware support for 850? If it's missing the hardware it's not going to matter what modem you use! That's your problem.
And it is not true at all that you cannot get 850 on a european modem. I have an i9000m, and have used several european modems (jvk, jvb, etc) with 850. A few steps are required to enable it, that's all. Search and you'll find them.

So did you try flashing the modem or complete rom again?
You could try flashing back to UGJL2 froyo again, then reflash Gingerbread. Kinda strange you can't enable wcdma850 in the combi menu. Did you confirm in the about phone settings that kc1 is the baseband?

I am going to try to flash to kc1 entirely. I can enable the 850 band, I just can't connect to the 850 band network.
I guess this is a provider problem. I finally broke down and phoned our incompetant technical support and they said they have had some problems with the KC1 update on the 850 band, now I have to use an inferior JL2 to work on our 850 band.

Yes it is the same as the international one.
i am able to flash any i9000 rom on my i9000m and it works fine...
I've flash darky's Roms (from 9.5 up) and now i'm currently using Dark Core 2.7.3_4 JVP running the F1 JVP V9 ROM and love it.
What did you need to know?
And i9000t = i9000?

For GT-I9000M, any rom would most likely work, but you might get issue with the modem.
If so, do what's stated here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12156313&postcount=438
and you'll be able to run almost any modem
How can I find out what is the original bell mobility froyo rom? I want to reverse my phone back to bell's settings.
Can someone please help!
Bells firmware is KC1
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA Premium App
The I9000m is very similar with the exception being that it uses 850mhz band umts and GSM rather than 900mhz.
this is why you might have issues with the modem. International version modems support 1900mhz band so you may not notice the issues immediately as bell runs both 1900 and 850 but its best to at least flash a modem that uses what is available. Some people think the 850 band is better but unless you check to see what band is in use all the time who really cares as long as it is available.
As for the firmware. As mentioned the most current is known as KC1 which is the last 3 digits of the whole thing. You can find it at samfirmware.com (you need a username to download - they seem OK - no spam) and then flash it via ODIN (search for 1 of about 18000 tutorials here or see the one at samfirmware.com)
Good luck all.

I use JPG with mine on Rogers.
You can get it here. Flash in recovery mode.
I found KG3 to work the best for me in terms of reception. The other Canadian modems with 850/1900 bands are KC1 and JL2.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9874879&postcount=1
Wifi signal is pretty weak for me but i think that might also depending on the kernel of the ROM (I'm currently on deodexed JVX, semaphore 2.0.0, KG3 modem, Bell network). You can always try some of the other gingerbread modems to see if wifi works better, but the 850 band may not work for you.
Thank you, I will try to change.
Sorry, but the kernel has something to do? I have 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVQ....
Thank you!

I try the modems cwm3_bvjjpg and cwm3_zsjpg and 3g dosen't work, i try to chens the 1900 band to 850 but in zsjpg i can't because in the menu says "this menu don't esxist" and the WCDMA 850(FDD V) is number 6 in the menu.
With the bvjjpg I put the [5] WCDMA 850 (FDD V) but when I put *#0011# WDCDMA still have 1900 band 2....
With the modem UGKG3 i don't change enithing in the menu and the 3g works, but I think the 3g is slow and the wifi is not good....
Thank you!

[Q] Can't connect to 850 AT ALL

Hello everybody I'm having a bit of a problem with my SGS i9000, international version. I'm currently running CM7 with the UGJL2 modem.
I recently signed up for a data plan. My carrier is Movistar Chile.
Problem is, I can't connect at all. Not even on EDGE. I have checked the APN settings and they're OK.
I have also tried changing the settings in Service Mode to no avail. When I choose any other setting than GSM 1900, I don't get any service.
Also tried changing some settings in Testing. Nothing.
Tried flashing many modems, most of them with 850 enabled, no good.
Any ideas?
I might suggest to flash a different modem or one of the radio 850mhz files found on this site.

I can't recall if I tried that modem. Will flash and check. Thanks for your responses!
EDIT: flashed KC3, no good. There's no way it'll connect with 850, just 1900. Tried changing settings in Service Mode, nothing.
Maybe flashing another ROM?
Try this for 850mhz
I am on Telstra in Aussie and we use the 850Mhz, and when I upgraded ROMS I had to sort out the same issue you are having. I found a Telstra modem, opened a modem file, swapped my modem into it and put it into my phone. The in recovery opened the file an it all worked. Not sure if that is the correct way, but it works for me and gives me both 850 and 2100 for Telstra.
Change your rom to jvu, its sweet, and try to use the modem that was in your stock rom from chile
Im using simplicity + semaphore+ UGKG3 modem

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, the phone was imported all way from England... not the smartest thing to do...
So tecnically there is no stock Rom for the I9000 from Movistar Chile.
However, now that you mention it, Movistar used to sell the I9000B here, and I'm not sure if I could grab the modem file from a I9000B from Chile (if I happen to find one) and flash it. Are I9000 and I9000B modems compatible?
EDIT: found out something weird. I actually got a hold of a SGS2, factory unlocked, and swapped the SIM cards. In the SGS2, the APN settings from Movistar Chile are picked up automatically (preconfigured?), thought there is still no connection when Data is enabled. This (APN settings preconfigured) DOES NOT happen on the SGS1, as if there weren't any settings predefined. I have to put them manually. Why...?
With the other SIM card (Entel Chile), both phones set the APN automatically and connect to the data plan without issue.
Does this mean there's a phone issue AND a carrier issue?
I also forgot to mention that I got rid of CM7 and flashed the latest Darky's Rom, JVK modem, 850 enabled as far as I know.
The apn issue is from the preloaded apns from the rom you uses, it happened to me no other than simplicity.
The letter b on i9000 means the region, from example im in mexico and i have a i9000t that its for latinamerica, the i9000 alone its erupean and MAY BOT HAVE 850mhz antenna
Do you had 3g before the data plan weon? Hehehe

It should have 850MHz, since that's supposedly the frequency Movistar uses here...

Modem drivers for S5830L

Hello, everyone!
I need a little help from you, guys. I'm trying StockLite v7 and everything has been working fine until I realized I can't connect over Wi-Fi. The thing tries to make a connection, then disconnects and tries again.
I0ve been reading the forums and there's a solution: to flash new modem drivers (it seems like StockLite doesn0t have the drivers my S5830L actually need). I even found a compilation of drivers, but all the links are dead D=
Does anybody here have the modem drivers for a S5830L Ace? And if I'm not asking too much from you, does anybody have a CWM friendly version of those? Im writing from a Linux PC and I don't think Wine can handle Odin properly...
Well, that's all, folks!
Lol
you don't need modem drivers, nothing.
Just do full wipe and install again StockLite, make sure its not corrupt and make sure your router is working and try connecting again.
Modem or Baseband is not related with anything to Wi-Fi only to 3G connection.
S5830 uses frequencies for 3G HSDPA 900 / 2100
While S5830L HSDPA 850 / 1900
and S5830B HSDPA 850 / 2100
As long as your S5830L has baseband a latin american ROM it should be all good.
