hello
i want to install this rom miracle v4
i have rooted galaxy ace gt s5830 stock
gb 2.3.6
does this custom rom change default
file system of galaxy ace or on which file
system eg. "rfs or ext4 "miracle rom work
and my second question should i make
backup of my current rom from cwm5 . is
it safe to make nandroid backup and
restore. will this brick my phone ? i have
heard that it is not advisable.
pls answer
Nothing could be safer than doing a nandroid. Should be the first thing you do before flashing anything. It gives you an escape route if things go wrong.
I've had many a bootloop etc and without a nandroid restoring the phone would have been a lot more complicated.

All custom roms are in ext4, when you flash it your file system change from rfs to ext4, so forget the problems but you can change between both partition format using ext4.apk

I forgot that if you use Odin to flash a fresh STOCK you'll also come back to .rfs system format
anyway No problem at all
mmm... If I understood by the right way, yes you only need get the APN's from your carrier's country even you can flash your country's modem if the APN's aren't enought to connect to you to your network carrier
If iI understood you by the wrong way, a custom rom won't unblock your carrier...

So if I reinstall the stock ROM from another Galaxy Ace (same one this thing shipped with), the phone doesn't boot, at all.
I put Cyanogen back on, and it boots fine, but my data connection never works and my voice/messaging connection constantly craps out and I need to reimage again. (Weird...if I go back to a working image, then reinstall my current one, it works fine.)
I'm at a loss...but I'm only one step away from returning it anyway.

Something like that, only it doesn't loop. When I load up a stock rom, it simply hangs at he startup "Samsung Galaxy Ace" screen.
after installing your stock rom wipe your cache and dalvik it will work , if not , use odin and flash a different stock firmware first may be KPN or KPH
Irishred is that the stock koodo 2
3.4 rom? I've been looking everywhere for that, could you post a link maybe as I'm sure there are others looking for this also.
Thanks

Well, if you can't flash the stock rom, there's only one thing to do then.
Use ODIN. T_T
It'll push your recovery back to the stock crap too, but then again, there's no reason why it shouldn't work, anyway.
there might be case that it works but you are too lazy to find solution for it to work
what problem you have when you flash stock roms with odin??
You have to flash via Odin, because your internal memory was formated to ext and the stock rom uses a different (I don´t really know which is used by stock rom, but you can google it.)

This is what I was suspicious/worried about. Okay...now to learn to use Odin.
I just found this on sampro.pl I'm at work now so I can't download. Have a look

EXT format issue ?
Just a thought...
I once installed a Cyanogen rom on a Galaxy S that changed something in the memory - and stock rom was not working afterwards. I had to go back to Cyanogen. Too bad if you're planning on selling it in stock rom condition.
The only way back was to find a stock rom that contained the whole package - including correct pit file, pda, modem and a repartition of memory.
Flashed via Odin.
Is it a one file/multiple files package? Kernel update?
I hope any of this is can help you solve the problem.
It is a one file package. Password is sampro.pl. It is multi-csc for koodo & telus. Mine loaded up telus so i had to change it. It works great. I will go back to myth ics rom. Its just nice to know that if I need to return to stock I can.

Wow, been looking for this
Will give it a try, Thanks!
Edit: Works great, all back to stock Koodo (temporarily). Thanks again for posting Spider, XD
just to add...
I experimented with a few custom ROMs but they rendered some functionalities un-usable. I tried to recover from a full system and data backup which failed.
From that: 1)Followed instructions from androidadvices.com (androidadvices.com/update-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830-xwks9-gingerbread-235-firmware/-- page 2) But used stock ROM for Koodo (GT-S5830D S5830DTLKI4) from spidre9909's post;
-- a download link to ODIN is included...
2)Rooted the phone and re-installed Clockwork;
3)Restored my full backup created just before my trials with custom ROMs
Now I am back! At this point, follow unroot procedures — if you want to…
Hope this helps...
DXKPB is the firmware I know that includes data.rfs (which means your /data would get formatted with rfs, and that means stock ROM will love your phone again)

it's interesting you mention that your wireless connection doesn't work properly. I flashed the newest firmware (something from vietnam I think) and the same thing ... my connection keeps waffling back and forth from H to 3G to nothing at all.
Hello,
first a brief intro...i am not an android developer but I am a user and I love the OS.
However i have had a little trouble with the small issue of backing up stock ROM so that i can have the freedom to tinker with any custom ROM possible knowing that i can always fall back to my stock ROM if I don't like anything or something doesn't work.
I have the original ROM so i can flash it back whenever but not everyone has access to their stock ROM. so you must make a choice that once you flash a custom ROM, you cant go back.
So i am calling out to all the nice developers in the house...
1. Is this possible. is there a way one can do a backup of the stock ROM in the galaxy mini?
2. If its not possible at the moment, is there anyone willing to work towards ensuring its possible?
Like I said, I am not a developer but i could help in any little way i can to work with any willing developer towards achieving this.
Thanks.
yess is possible to backup your rom juste install ROM MANAGER and clic on backup is simple you can find it on android marcket ^^
I would not personally suggest Rom Manager since there are a lot of cases here that it bricked the phone. It is possible to backup your stock rom with cwm recovery. The problem is it can't be restored via the same recovery. This is a limitation of cwm. So Odin is still the best option to restore stock roms.. I do hope that restoring stock roms can be made possible thru cwm..

I have tried ROM manager and it doesnt even recognize the cmw recovery already installed. it requests to install a custom recovery and the SGM isnt listed among the supported devises so that wount work.

Have you actually backed up your stock rom using cwm?I have tried and each time i get an error that it couldnt mount the /system. And am seeking assistance to develop a means to back up and restore Stock ROMs in SGM.
with custom kernel with suport ext4 and convert rfs partition to ext4 partition you can backup your stock rom.
only need flash custom kernel. after that you can backup the rom.
galaxy S user have CF-root kernel for each rom. CF-root do this and root your phone and install CWR.
but for mini no any CF-root kernel
.i have changed my CWM by another one find here with godell thread I use "CWM5028.zip"
Dude, don't you try Rom Manager, it may brick your phone. CWM can't make stock rom backups as far as I know.

hi.
i have an Australian N7000B Note, and it is currently rooted on the latest available android in the country for the phone (2.3.6)
i have superuser and CWM installed.
i can boot into CWM and navigate with no worries, but whenever i try to install any custom rom, regardless what rom it is, i get the same error.
i really want to get off this crappy rom that Telstra provides with the phone, so any help is greatly appreciated.
many thanks
pic attatched of error.
Use ODIN to flash a stock ICS or GB ROM and then re-root and add cwm and try again
the issue you face is because your version is the GT-N7000B and the build.prop is for the GT-N7000 so its failing because it believes the ROM is for a different device.
if the product codes do not match up in the build.prop it will fail - this applies to all devices and all ROMs.
you could also open the .zip and find the build.prop and change all of them, But its a pain in the ass !

Because these are for the N7000 if i flash a stock ICS rom on my N7000B what will happen?
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8
Put your details in there and it will find you a stock ROM. Ive seen threads where N7000B users have flashed N7000 ROMs without any issues.
EDIT: You CAN use any GT-N7000 firmware !
Awesome! I am downloading the Gingerbread Australian Rom as we speak for the N7000. if i flash it with odin, root it, and then install CWM would it work with installing custom roms such as paranoid android etc?
Yes because the Stock firmware will remove the 'B' and you will have no more install errors
Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter !! and make a nandroid before commencing.

so, i will flash it with Odin on PC correct? does it require i wipe everything off the phone?
sorry for the questions i am a noob lol
you can wipe before or after it makes no difference so long as your on GB.
Dont ever wipe on ICS unless your on a safe kernel.
But do do a wipe as it will start you off on a fresh clean install

Hi, Can u please help me. I'm having the same problem as u. Got the getprop error when flashing any rom through
How were u able to flash roms through cwm & what file did u use to turn your 7000B into a 7000?
I used the latest ee rom from sammimobile to make a rom with android kitchen. Im a complete beginner to this and thought I had rooted, zip aligned and deodexed it. Signed it and it made a zip.
I flashed this zip and it got stuck at the boot logo. So i restored from cwm nandroid (which was of the same rom originally installed via mobile odin and rooted.) When it booted up I had no mobile signal.
I checked the imei and it had gone. I had backed up the nv data before hand but was unable to restore it due to connection issues.
I reflashed the same firmware(ee) via mobile odin and I had imei and signal again.
What is happening here? Can you back up a stock rom with cwm? Can I still flash other custom roms without fear of losing my imei. I like to try most new roms but im a bit worried about screwing up my phone.
Also does anyone know why my rom never worked. Like I say it was my first attempt
Thanks

Who knows what you have done wrong building a rom .
Can you back up a stock rom with cwm >>>>>YES but it will have rooted recovery .
Can I still flash other custom roms without fear of losing my imei>>> If you have EFS / NV backup.
jje
Why do you think I lost my imei? From the rom I made and if so why didn't the nandroid I made of stock rom with cwm restore my imei? It only came back from a fresh install of the same firmware?? Proper confused.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk 2
a nandroid backup doesn't touch the imei.
restoring the NV data is the only possible solution
I never restored nmy nv data tho and I got my imei back just by flashing stock rom again
Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk 2
right, I missed that part. don't know what caused it
Flashing back a stock rom is a known method of possible restore of failed EFS/NV .
But the word is possible rather than probable and not to be relied on .
jje
But now its back is it as it was before. As in free to flash roms as I please as long as they are legit I.E ripper rom and cm 10 roms etc?
Thanks

Probably you don't put modem.bin in ROM package or put n a wrong place and updater-script cannot find it.

Recently I've updated my phone from ICS 4.0.4 to Jelly Bean through samsung kies. It was ok for about
a week or so before it suddenly lost all network connection. My phone could not connect to any network,
only can make emergency calls. Samsung could not do anything about it and suggest i change the motherboard.
I managed to revert back to stock rom gingerbread using PC Odin and tried upgrading again to stock rom
ICS. The funny things is when I upgrade the phone to ICS, again the update blocks my phone as I thought
only JB would do that. And because I've been on ICS for quite sometime I didn't think it would behave that
way.
I have tried all method, factory reset, hard reset, wipe cache before upgrading to ICS yet it doesn't help. Can
anyone help me? Btw, my phone is not rooted.. Thanks in advance.

Network locked and the phone simply could not detect my sim. The above method
would require me to root the phone, right?
Say if I'm going to root my phone, which one should I do first?
a) Upgrade ICS (official) then root and unblock sim
b) root the current gingerbread with CWM and then flash ICS rom
Sorry, noobie here... juz needed to make sure so I dont end up with brick device
If you root GB and flash ICS, root will be lost again. Be on ICS ... Make sure you don't do a factory reset on ICS unless you install a safe kernel. Install Philz kernel for ICS and it will root your phone. The you can try those apps.
