I just wondered can anyone here successfully build CM7 from source?
I have followed many guides dotted around here and on CM's old wiki (taking bits from other devices).
Everything goes well (installing dependencies, repo sync with gingerbread, doing 'breakfast p990', extractfiles, rommanager, no problem...)
As soon as I try to brunch it keeps exiting with errors relating to libjava.jar file (on both openjdk and sun jdk 6).
I am just wondering can anyone else here build it or is there a problem in the repo? If someone else can build it maybe you can help me with a build I am trying to do...
Cheers !
You have to make sure you are on old bootloader.
Otherwise you can try a cm7 based rom, look for it in the development thread.

Its alright I finally got it to compile now ... its going much furthur this time so fingers crossed :good:

Figured I'd make a thread, so its easier to follow and find this thing.
All bug reports and the majority of development for cyanogenmod 6 on the incredible on xda should remain in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722478
In fact, there really should be no reason to post anything here, but i know it will happen anyway...so lets try to keep it on topic and not let this thing run wild like so many other threads have been doing.
CREDITS
Before getting started, one thing needs to be clear. I did not do anything here other than smash together some things that other people did. No thanks is necessary to me, i did not code, nor compile anything.
Instead thank (in no particular order):
-koush, and cyanogenmod team for the rom
-koush, ejhart/hydra, rmk40 for the kernel with wifi bug fix. Get the here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7546856 (it should also be noted, that this may not be totally fixed, for now live without wifi or with an occasional lock up. when we get a .32 kernel this should be fixed)
-CaptainTaco for finding where to put the /emmc mount command
-Xevin for the cyanogenmod boot animation
-unrevoked for making this all possible on this, as well as several other phones
-and probably several others that i forgot or didnt know about
This is a straight cyanogenmod rom, with a couple modifications.
-rmk40 posted a kernel that fixes a bug that makes the phone lock up when resuming from 'sleep' mode. currently the kernel is v2 and included in this rom
-set /emmc to mount on boot. this does not mean that everything can see it (gallery, and music and such cannot) but it is accessible with astro, adb, etc.
-Xevin's boot animation from: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/1985-custom-cyanogenmod-boot-animation/ this is now included by default
It should also be noted that eventually, i believe, this 'mash-up' will be obsolete. Once the rom is complete for the incredible, these sorts of features will most likely be included in the original rom. (maybe not the boot animation, but we'll see).
Basically what I am getting at is that you should check the linked thread at the top of this post, as well as stickies and popular threads in this sub-forum before using this rom. I will do my best to keep it updated if it needs to be done.
I also recommend doing a nandroid and a wipe (WIPE INSIDE CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY, NOT FROM ROM MANAGER!) before trying to flash any of these.
You do not need to update your radio for this rom, but it wont hurt if you do/did.

Is there any way possible to get koush's camra fix into hydra kernel?

These are still testing roms.
That being said,
Are you wiping before flashing?
Restoring something causing it maybe?
Yep I wipe everytime, it starts doing it randomly, not from me restoring anything. Wonder if its a hardware thing

I am also wondering how this differs from Test 8? More stable? Can anyone compare the 2? Thanks

That's from the wifi bug. turn off your wifi.
Am I correct to assume that no radio upgrade is needed to run this?

Not working for me either, but Wireless Tether app works fine (google it).
Having issues with gps on mashup. Anyone else?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
built in wireless tether probably wont work, it should work with the app though, "wireless tether for root users"
also, gps for me kinda works, but its a really big circle and im not really close to the center
i may be wrong, but i think these issues will subside once there is a .32 kernel to build for cyanogenmod
currently, since htc has not officially released froyo for the incredible, we do not have the source code for the .32 incredible kernel
once the officially release froyo, it will probably be a few weeks/months before the source is available
I just rooted my Dinc for the first time using the unrEVOked tool. What do I need to start install to put this ROM on my phone? Also what are the steps to installing the ROMs? Sorry I'm still super new to Android. I understand adb push and all of that to get a custom bootloader.

my gps never works the first time i open it, i have to close navigation and then re open it and enter the address. Then it works flawlessly. weird but has done this on test8, all nightlys and mashups.
with this ROM installed when I click on the app drawer there is no market. any ideas????
so before any of us have to answer this question again please read this thread
so with dzo's port of the newest kernel he started including a wlan.ko compatible with the newer 2.6.32.nbh's into his builds. this left small fragmentation issue with people still using the older kernel
so when you use android on any of the phones in our project your nbh/ zImage is where your kernel is
so you have 2 options for your .nbh/zImage their are
2.6.25 (older kernel)
2.6.32 (newest kernel)
the older 2.6.25 kernels are available on dzo's site (should be a link to it in the first post of this thread) the last one he made was 26-07-2010 (what i use on my touch)
the newest kernels 2.6.32 are avalible for download from the kaiser kernel thread
if using a 2.6.25 kernel you need an update for the wifi this is attached to this post
now those instructions are assuming you have a kaiser if you have a polaris you need the wifi update for it reguardless the one for the 2.6.32 kernel that is also attached
for older polaris kernels i am not sure where the wifi update is for it but a forum search should find it easily if you know what your looking for
and lastly if your on a vogue, wifi will never ever work ever so stop asking
i think that should cover it if i missed anything everybody feel free to chime in (also if this could get stickied that be great)
Good stuff, glad to get that off your chest?
Haha does it show?

perfectly working
This should be stickied tbh. This question is one that pops up the most followed by questions about .nbh's. Such as how do I edit them, how do I use a vogue rom on my kaiser, etc.
Mind awfully if I link this in my mini-faq, since it's definitly a frequently asked question

please do, i wrote this for the intent of not having to answer it again so if people use the FAQ like they should to start it will make for way less hassles
well it's sitting at near 7000 views, so it's getting looked at
Just thought it would help keep it from getting buried
Help my WIFI doesn't work!
Just kidding
Thank you for organizing all of the answers in one place.
Sorry for bothering you but i can't install this update.
I just get "failed to extract" message after each attempt.
Hope someone can help me to solve this problem.
I've got kaiser with .25 kernel installed on it, system stored on nand and data on ext2.
Did you open the zip you downloaded or try to. flash it as is, if you flashed it as is that's your problem

Hi,
I am having problems getting any Android ROM to have working Wifi.
I have tried several different ROMs along with the corresponding Kaisimg.nbh generated using the NBH Editor and have tried applying the Wifi update after testing the 'virgin' install. Still no success.
I have an UK O2 Stellar. Could someone tell me a combination of NBH and ROM that has working Wifi (with or without the fix).
edit : just fixed by using the NBH from DZO's site instead of the Editor default.

Extract wifi update zip file.
Copy androidupdate.tgz to Andboot Folder on your SD Card
Enter Android install menu
Select Install Update
Select Fix Permissions
Quit the menu and check wifi connectivity
Sorry for pushing this thread...
I had Fat Free Rom running for some months and now wanted to switch to an newer one. But I can't get WiFi working.
I tried:
Scoot Cyanogenmod RLS6
Thoughtlesskyle's Not So Super Froyo RLS18
New KAISER ROM Valentine 1.0.2
Krazy-Killa's Kernel Release - RLS5.9.1.2 Alpha
I also updated the Radio to
1.70.19.09 and now 1.71.09.01
and suggested or newest Kernels.
Furthermore I tried ALL fixes for WiFi I could find in this forum like:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848921
http://www.ziddu.com/downloadlink/13294643/androidupdate-unpack-me.rar (from valentine)
and of course the updated linked here.
What's wrong with my Kaiser? WiFi never worked at first offence in Android and even with FatFree I needed to fix it (forgot how I did ^^, guess with new Kernel)
did you use the update with the Krazy-Killa kernel before posting?
What do you mean? ^^
I downloaded this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980551 and used atools to get "RLS 5.9.1.2 NBH.7z" and "HAReT Kernel Files.tar" into 1 file. Afterwards I flashed it.
im on the cache kernel 2.6.32 and im having problems with wifi. everytime i try to turn it on it says error
wifi worked fine in the super froyo, but it doesnt now that im on the dzo rom. i tryed to install the update from the cache kernel rar file and it failed to exract. its a androidupdate.tar file
Hey guys,
i'm going to root my nook color and I see there are two versions: cyanogenmod 7.1 and phiremod 7.1. I know phiremod 7.1 is based on cyanogenmod 7.1 but i'm just wondering which one is better to install into my nook color.
What do you think guys? give me some suggestions
I would just stick with CM7. Phiremod doesn't actually add anything feature wise. It is more of just a theme.
Sent from space
Also, Phiremod is not developing anymore so there is no support for his rom, other than fellow users..
I am having great success, along with others, with the MiRage rom.

I flashed the 1/26/2012 version of MiRage, and while it performs very well, I consistently get errors when connecting to the Market, making it unusable. (I installed the 20110828 version of gapps.) Suggestions?

What kind of errors? "Device not supported" can be fixed with build.prop. A good place to post would be in the Mirage thread, I'm using an earlier release of Mirage and I haven't had any errors with the Market (or anything else-other than the facebook app being wonky without a gps).
what version of clockwork mod are you using? I just went the rounds trying to help someone else out, to find out that she was using an outdated CWM. It should be 3.2.0.1.
Your gapps are the right version.
What procedure did you follow when you were flashing the rom?
Hey there folks, this post may be more suitable to the development forum but I don't have access to that just yet so I figured I'd post here.
I'm using Hashcode's CM7 build with Safestrap, but I'm getting stuck at the CM7 bootscreen. Any tips on getting past this? I'd like to try it out.
From what I can tell using the search function, it seems to be booting fine for other people.
Go check out the CM9 dev thread, A7 just released. CM7 has been (understandably) left on the back burner for some time.
Sent from my XT862 using XDA App
Thanks for the tip, I had been waiting for the camera on CM9 before moving over - but it seems that day has come.
Also, for anyone else that was having this issue, it turned out that Bootstrap didn't uninstall or maybe I didn't wipe dalvik afterward, and it was conflicting with Safestrap. After I fixed that issue CM7 booted fine, but like atlantanetworkguy said, go ahead to CM9
Dear community sweet community of knowers-all
Which is the stablest nightly of them all?
I should just grab newest?
Sent from my windows phone while driving to pick up my touchpad:-D
Im using aokp milestone 5. I like it! In terms of stability all the recents rom are pretty much the same. Some just have more features.
Newest. They have all been stable.
~E.R.A.
I was running AOKP M4 for a while and it was pretty decent... upgraded to M5 and had some issues.
Switched to the latest nightly of CM9 (0430-nightly)... and love it! Best wifi experience with an ICS rom yet and performance is top notch...
i done screwed up
guys,
I think i've been following the guide to a T, aside from using a nightly .zip instead of the alpha they mention, . .. butt ...
After it's all done I see Moboot. I ask to boot cyognemod and it shows cyogenmod logo for about a minute then it just reboots and goes into the Moboot again.
Have I missed a step?
I have tried and checksummed (before running the script) both 28 and 30 CM9 nightlies, the latest ones. Everything looked fine until I tried to turn it on after the script finished.
Any ideas?
*EDIT I need to read more, and discover ACMEInstaller2
p.s. cwm works, yay.
Thanks for your help!
Yaaay!
ACMEInstaller2 was the culprit. I hope the guide is updated somehow to mention that if you're trying cm9 that you should use the different script.
yaay thanks for the advices. it's nice to know they don't release nightlies that would have regressed a previous version!
