Dear community sweet community of knowers-all
Which is the stablest nightly of them all?
I should just grab newest?
Sent from my windows phone while driving to pick up my touchpad:-D
Im using aokp milestone 5. I like it! In terms of stability all the recents rom are pretty much the same. Some just have more features.
Newest. They have all been stable.

I was running AOKP M4 for a while and it was pretty decent... upgraded to M5 and had some issues.
Switched to the latest nightly of CM9 (0430-nightly)... and love it! Best wifi experience with an ICS rom yet and performance is top notch...
i done screwed up
guys,
I think i've been following the guide to a T, aside from using a nightly .zip instead of the alpha they mention, . .. butt ...
After it's all done I see Moboot. I ask to boot cyognemod and it shows cyogenmod logo for about a minute then it just reboots and goes into the Moboot again.
Have I missed a step?
I have tried and checksummed (before running the script) both 28 and 30 CM9 nightlies, the latest ones. Everything looked fine until I tried to turn it on after the script finished.
Any ideas?
*EDIT I need to read more, and discover ACMEInstaller2
p.s. cwm works, yay.
Thanks for your help!
Yaaay!
ACMEInstaller2 was the culprit. I hope the guide is updated somehow to mention that if you're trying cm9 that you should use the different script.
yaay thanks for the advices. it's nice to know they don't release nightlies that would have regressed a previous version!

Hi all,
I am still running stock 2.3.6 but I am thinking about unlocking my phone to run CM. Anyway, I have been browsing through the dev CM7 thread and found that there are a lot of random reboots, lockups and other problems in the 7.1 stable release. I am thinking that installing the an older nightly perhaps would give me a better experience. Which nightly would you recommend?
Thanks.
I think its not good to stay on
a single nightly because there are few tweaks with every new nighty which makes it better from last one.
Anyway I recommend you to try cm7.1 rc1 before trying nightlies
For some time.

On my N1 Cm 7.1 is stable to but playing videos in flash full screen causes so many lock ups, i hope cyanogen would release a minor update for it

I'm one latest nightly, build 227. Very good and stable for me.
Just make sure you do a clean wipe including system partition
when coming from a different ROM.
Thanks guys! Do you know of a bug tracking page that lists all the bugs that CM7.1 currently has?
Thanks.
Not a bug tracker, but I find this page very useful and visit it daily to see if I want to upgrade to the latest nightly or not: http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=passion
Looks like the latest nightly is marked as 7.1.0.1... #227 as baseballfanz said. Maybe that will fix the problems you mentioned... however, I will note that I've been running 7.1 stable since the day it was released (nightlies before that) and have had zero problems at all. No lockups, no reboots, no problems at all no matter what I do with it...
7.1.0.1 is a maintenance release for a few devices. The N1 was not included in this list. And most of the reboots and instability issues with the stable release are resolved when people perform full wipes of the phone. It has been rock solid for me.
Thanks guys... I have installed CM71 Nightly 231 last night. It was going smooth at the beginning but I got stuck on flashing Amon_Ra recovery. For some reason my phone wasn't taking the CM themed version but the original version installed fine.
First problem after flashing the ROM and gapps was Market wasn't downloading apps for some reason. I think it was because the phone was reinstalling all the apps at the same time and it just couldn't handle the load. I had to install the apps one after another and that got through it.
The phone rebooted itself when I played a video for the first time, but it's been working rock solid so far. Now I'll have to figure out how to use S2E!
Thanks!

Cyanogenmod runs on Gingerbread, so saying its better is a contradiction.
If you let us know what problems you had in the stable version we may be able to help. That being said, the latest nightly IMO seems more fat and just as stable as the latest "stable" edition.
thanks riso
i mean the last version of gingerbread
i post the problems in forums and i see many thread speak about other problems
i hope cyanogen team fix all problems
If you are not happy with the stable then you could update to a nightly and once you find one that works for you, stick with it. Nightlies are designed for people who want to test the ROM to help developers so updating regularly is not a good idea if you just want something that works.

thank you chrono
ok i wait
Nightlies arent always unstable, most of the latest nightlies are great.
It isnt required to update every day, you can just update to the latest nightlies every week if you want to.

Nightly v.s.
I have read that snapshot is the stable version and nightly the more testing version. I originally tried to flash a snapshot version but had absolutely no luck getting it to work. It was around 150mb. I then found a nightly version and tried it on my samsung sgh-i747m s3. It was closer to 300mb and it worked just fine to install and run. It was my first time trying anything like this and I quite probably did it all wrong but like I said... no go for the snapshot but great success for the nightly. Cyanogenmod 11.
What I wonder is, I have seen some images of Cyanogenmod 11 having a full screen size keypad for dialing phone numbers and the one I have is only a half screen version. Is that because of my phone or the mod version or a theme? I have tried many themes that also show a full screen keypad but mine stays half screen and changes color. Anyone know?
Hey guys,
i'm going to root my nook color and I see there are two versions: cyanogenmod 7.1 and phiremod 7.1. I know phiremod 7.1 is based on cyanogenmod 7.1 but i'm just wondering which one is better to install into my nook color.
What do you think guys? give me some suggestions
I would just stick with CM7. Phiremod doesn't actually add anything feature wise. It is more of just a theme.

Also, Phiremod is not developing anymore so there is no support for his rom, other than fellow users..
I am having great success, along with others, with the MiRage rom.

I flashed the 1/26/2012 version of MiRage, and while it performs very well, I consistently get errors when connecting to the Market, making it unusable. (I installed the 20110828 version of gapps.) Suggestions?

What kind of errors? "Device not supported" can be fixed with build.prop. A good place to post would be in the Mirage thread, I'm using an earlier release of Mirage and I haven't had any errors with the Market (or anything else-other than the facebook app being wonky without a gps).
what version of clockwork mod are you using? I just went the rounds trying to help someone else out, to find out that she was using an outdated CWM. It should be 3.2.0.1.
Your gapps are the right version.
What procedure did you follow when you were flashing the rom?
Hi All,
I've recently flashed my Galaxy Ace to mclaw's RC2, I really like the rom but the problem being is the sound and camera aren't working. Tried to apply the RC2 patch provided by him but then the phone just gets stuck on boot animation. Is there any other stable cm9 builds that I can flash safely from mclaw's one? Secondly if I want to go back to gingerbread can I safely just restore the backup I had made using cwm or do I have to flash back using Odin? (would be appreciated if someone could give a link to a odin flash guide)
Lastly I assume all CM9 builds have been halted to focus on CM10 builds, in light of this, would I be better off flashing CM10?
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
if you want some other cm9 try the one by waylandace..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868121
and you can restore the last nandroid backup if you have.. better to wipe everything and restore.. nothing will happen to your phone
i use the cm9 rc1 for long time, for me is the better until now, the cm9 have some bugs, especifically on camera with deep sleep etc.
i recommend rc1 not nearly gave me no error or bug.
try and tell us your feedback ;
Good luck ! :good:
Thanks for the replies guys.

NOTES:
Ive only ran this ROM for about a day so Ill list it as "beta" for now. Themes worked for me but I had to create an Xiaomi account.
MIUI 3.1.11 is Android 4.1.2 (NOT 4.2.*) So keep this in mind for kernels and such!
I had somewhat of a higher than normal battery drain the first night. Frankly Im not sure if it was the ROM or one of my apps going nuts. I could use some feedback on how the battery drain is from others. This is my first JB port so be gentle (lol). I used CM10 as a base and used Lucainno's MIUI ROM to adapt (or Miui'fy) it. Dont forget to click on the links below in my thanks section and hit the "thanks" for each. Hit them up for a donation if you can.
Mobile data automatically turns off on each boot. You must renable it each time.
Easiest way for me to get the camera to work was to install the CM10 Gallery app. Thats why you have 2 "gallery" apps listed.
Does 911 work?
Answer - I dont know. Its untested. I have the correct T959 RIL and GPS files installed. I checked the framework.jar and it seemed to be in order.
Does GPS work?
Works for me....kinda I will admit the locks were a lot slower than usual. My GPS "fixes" from another thread do not match 2 of the CM10 files. CM10 and CM10.1 differ by 2 gps in /system/lib/hw from what I can tell. It may work though.
Now Im not a developer, but I will still try to bugfix whatever I can.

edit build.prop for english
framwork.jar edits
services.jar edits
new Bootsplash
add a gps.xml normally not found. Flashing one of my "fixes" will delete it.
(You should be able to just flash it without wipe for upgrade)
Thanks man, When I have time this week, I'll be sure to flash and let you know how it goes.
Thanks man - I was going to play with this for a bit. For me the GPS just isn't working as well as Id like it too. Just not sure if its me.
Two of the .so files are different from CM10 to CM10.1 so Ill try to switch between the two. (/system/lib/hw/gps.aries.so & gps.goldfish.so)
Its a nice project to work on for the next few weeks.
Got too eager, and flashed it
Some things:
-Boot animation is TERRIBLE, sorry just had to get that out, I'm prob gonna just end up flashing a Nexus bootanimaion, they look cool
-Default language is DUTCH, and there's a popup right before selecting the default language, so I have NO IDEA what i agreed/disagreed to
So far, so good.
I can't really test GPS, almost got into a car accident once because of the faulty GPS on this, since then... no more taking chances, bought a nice GPS, runs great.
I'll give you more bugs/compliments after tomorrow.
Thanks for this btw, needed my monthly MIUI dosage.
That is odd - the build.prop is set to US and when I loaded it up it was in English. Ill look into it though.
Edit: Found it -
ro.product.locale.language=en (was set to "zh")
LOL - ok - ok Ill look into changing the bootanimation
Version 1.1 posted - should be a no-wipe version for those who already installed it.
NICE....
viber
unfortunately,viber has stopped
no work
Anyone have a multi-dpi playstore for this?
Changed my dpi to 201, playstore stopped showing most apps, flashed this and did not work.
For those who have time and can beta test for me:
MIUI 3.1.25
You need to flash the gapps (4.1 version) because I removed it from the ROM.
Feedback / bugs appreciated
I tried some GPS tweaks in some .jar files - Im not sure if it did anything though.
Downloading, gonna try it this week and I'll be back with my comments, really thankful with your hard work.
Best regards.

First thought, thanks for the spanish language
I showed 85 downloads but no one tested it?
Ive been switching between Slim / Helly so Ill give this up.
AW: [ROM] [MIUI 4.1] MiuiRyder - Miui 3.1.11 (JB) v1.1
What about working together with kingsoft. He has also a miui rom out. Another idea to push a new JB 4.2 rom out , cherry picked from slim, hell and aokp

This ROM is my new daily driver on my work phone.
Its very fast and stable.
No real issues yet.
It rebooted once by itself when plugged into my computer at work but it hasn't happened again so the incident may be isolated.
Thanks for an awesome ROM.
I'm pretty likely to stick with this one for quite a while.

What one are you referring to? The 3.1.11 version in the OP or the .25 version I posted in the thread to test?
The op version, I just swapped over from another ROM and wasn't aware of the new version. but I'd be happy to give the test version a shot.
I'll run it for a few days and report back.

Sorry I realize its been way more than a few days.
I hot caught up on a work project that has been eating my life.
Anyways here is what I have to Freeport (hopefully its of some use to you this far out)
Pros:
1. Very fast and smooth, compared to what I was on prior (hellybean) this Rom is a huge jump up in speed.
2. Battery actually lasts all day for me. This is my work phone so that's not bad at all.
3. Bluetooth tethering works really well.
4. All around this is the best Rom I've been on in quite some time.
Cons:
1. Random reboots, though it never happens when I'm doing anything, only when the phone is sitting there on the home screen. So it really hasn't actually bothered me even though it would normally be a huge issue.
2. (I think this is actually a miui feature so it may not be worth worrying about) the data automatically turns off when you reboot. This wouldn't be an issue except for the random reboots mentioned above. Sometimes this happens in my pocket and I don't notice my data is off until I look at it again.
