How to take a screenshot - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
How do you take a screenshot on the HTC one?
Thanks

I get a camera out of my bag and take a photo of the whole phone.
Joking, it's done by pressing the power button and home button at the same time

your timing must be off, try again.

Press power then home
Confirmed

I hold down the power button and the volume down key at the same time for a few seconds. That definitely works!

How do I draw on a screenshot so that I can send it to someone via sms/mms? I tried Skitch, but it didn't have the option to send via the stock messaging app under the share menu.

The volumes key still are hard key. As we used it in cwm recovery I think it could be done by mod.

How do I restart my phone without pulling my battery when the phone freezes?? Its a real pain to pull the battery and it might make the back cover slightly lose...!!

I just tried it and it doesn't work. How do you press volume up and down at the same time? It's a rocker switch.

It's not a rocker switch. If you take the phone apart you will see that the volume up and down buttons are both separate. VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER works for me especially when I have a bootloop.
Either not trying hard enough or you have something wrong.
Doesn't work for me!! I've tried several times maybe its something else...

Oh, when it's a hard lock freeze it's a different story.
The combination will always work if you are not fully frozen or bootlooped, or your governer is lagging/slow to response.
Try it right now while you are not frozen.
Not gonna lie this is the first I've heard of this.

Nope, still not working for me. The buttons are definitely pressed.
I'm on CM7 w/ Lord Clockan kernel if that matters.
It works!! vol up + vol down + power = reboot.
been reading the forum and fear of frying the emmc chip...
Try holding the three down until it resets .should be 15 seconds MAX and that's giving it more than enough time.

A very critical question!!!

Hello and happy new year!!!
I have a question for xperia T.
With my arc s a had many times to remove the battery when something went wrong with custom roms.
With Xperia T what can we do when phone is not responding at all?
Hold the volume+ and power button together until you feel the phone vibrate 3 times consectutively. This takes around 5 - 10 seconds.
Thanks a lot.
Holding down the volume+ and power button didnt work for me, tried at least 10 times. Had to remove the backcover/battery, which was a pain in the ass. Warranty probably void too -_-

Try the same action, but wait for the first vibrate and then let go, then try to turn on your phone, ive just tried it on my T i have here, and it works.
For me that combination worked, thanks !
But there is another combination : You have to press all physical buttons at the same time (power + vol+ + vol- + camera).

I think this is a placebo, it is only vol& power that has an effect, but could be wrong. I would like to know the facts about hardware button actions if anyone with the knowledge or skill could confirm? Thank you.

It's just vol+ and power.
Vol- and power takes screenshot.

I will add that feature when I get back to my computer, and if people want to pm me with more useful tips I will add then as well.

Just encountered this, i think it happened when i used the power button when connected to the charger, a restart via power, vol + fixed as with you. Tried to get it to fail again but couldnt, no idea what caused it.
Hey, I've faced the same problem a few months ago. I just updated my software and it started working again. I hope this helped

Froze at install screen

Just recently flashed trickdroid, got through the entire install then it froze after it was complete. My device says it has been installed and ready for use but hitting next does nothing.....tried holding power with power down and up (just for fun), phone still will not reboot...any suggestions would be helpful... dont really want to wait for my phone to die to use again, was sitting at 80%..

If it was complete then all you need to do is reboot. Hold the power button for 10 seconds, if that doesn't work hold the power button with volume down and boot in to recovery. Also no need to open a thread for it, just ask in the trickdroid thread :highfive:

That's not a joke, presumably HTC put something like a safety so your phone doesn't turn off in your pocket. So in a dim room the hold power button to restart the phone might not work, hence the bright light trick
