Up till now, there are many rumors said sony is preparing its new series of smartphone, which is called "One Sony series". It will feature Cyber-shot and walkman. Sounds very powerful. So if the rumor is true, Xperia Z will become the last smartphone of Xperia series. Does it still worth buying?
wait if you can wait.
Buy it if you want it. This is technology we're talking here. They go outdated in a matter of months, weeks even. You may wait for the rumoured one series and when it finally arrives, there'll be rumours of a two series and so on. You can never win the race with technology.

You know, no one can answer that question for you.
There will always be newer devices, the device(s) you mentioned aren't even out yet, they might not be what you initially thought they would've been. So in the end you're the only one that can answer your own question.
You can also find an answer here btw:

Not Xperia T, but what is the deal with the Xperia V?
Will it be pout in the UK, any idea when or about the prices, can't see any reference on the UK Sony site.
I'm trying to resist the Nexus 4, better spec at a much lower price thst the T.
Thanks guys!

Main feature of XV is that its waterproof. It doesn't have an SD slot from memory though which is why I didn't wait for it and went for the XT. I think it will be coming to the UK at some point but think it has been delayed because Sony didn't think it was waterproof enough and had to do some tweaks.
Regarding XT v Nexus 4 there is already a thread on that too.

Thanks for the response, yes, found that thread but didn't answer the question of when or price.
Xperia V has an sd card.. it was my dream phone until the nexus 4 came up
Sony mobile France tweeted that the Xperia v will be available in France in December and that it will get jelly bean in January. I haven't heard anything international though.

The Xperia S is over £100 cheaper at my local store, it has the same spec, but I prefer the T's design - considering the S will get JB whats worth it more?
I need help with my decision!
Since when does the S have the same spec as the T? The T blows the S out of the water completely in terms of performance.

As tilal said, the Xperia S isn't as good as the T. Particularly the processor. The XS uses the S3 Chip whereas the T uses the S4 chip. Both are clocked at 1.5 GHz

To add onto that, the S4 clcoked at 1.5 ghz even out performs an S3 clocked at 1.7ghz significantly.

Doesn't the XS have a 12MP camera (against the XT's 13MP)? And maybe it was the S, not the V, that was missing the memory card slot. I forget and am too lazy to look up all the specs again myself.

Yes I agree. Buy a 2 1/2 year old device, it's definitely better than both of these much newer phones that have better specs and better operating systems.

iPhone talk isn't allowed here, so we will all suggest the Z.
It's like comparing Apple with Pears. Never had an Apple product and never will, but the myPhone seems to be quite decent under any circumstances.
Android vs iOS I'd always choose Android.
Edit:
P.S. What's the point making another topic? There are really plenty out there.
What if people made topics to compare the Z with other phones.
Then you would have:
Xperia Z vs Galaxy Note
Xperia Z vs Galaxy Note II
Xperia Z vs Galaxy S III
Xperia Z vs Galaxy S III mini
Xperia Z vs Droid DNA
Xperia Z vs Nexus 4
Xperia Z vs One X
And those are just a few....
Sv: Xperia Z vs iphone 5?
It's hard to compare. Two very different systems. If you like how Apple does things, you might like their phones better. But you better like how they do things, because you aren't allowed to change it. I know I found ios borring..

Easy one this go for the Z if you like customization and stuff, if you like stock standard same as others go with Apple has the iphone 4 and dont get me wrong it was a nice handset but i didnt get attached to it as i felt bored with the set up.
I have both. iPhone 5 and Xperia Z. I am a happy man.

Yes, swap it for the Xperia Z. It's far superior.
I have iPhone 5 as well. Just got my xperia z today. So far it's okay. Like the larger screen. Nothing wrong with the iPhone. Just got bored of it.

Xperia Z and iPhone 5 both are smart phones and there are many people who are interested in buying such kind of phones.iPhone 5 is one of the most popular as well as latest model of Apple.
I own a nexus 4, iPhone 5 and the xperia z. I honestly think the nexus is the best in terms of software and speed. The Z is a beautiful beast that I'm adjusting to... If only it ran stock jellybean. With regards to the iPhone 5, for me it's a massive disappointment. Not really any better than the 4s and you have to look after it a lot more as it scratches very easily.
If you have a tight budget get the nexus 4, if not then get the Z or hold out for the HTC one or Samsungs new offering when they announce.

Obvious? They both had their bad ass pics there but I don't see one being "obvious". Not that I'd consider an iPhone. They're WAY past their prime.

I thought it was obvious that the iPhone pics had a yellowish wash over them when viewed next to the Z pics. This was especially noticeable in the low light pics - the colour in the Z pics looked much more realistic. And, the details looked sharper overall in the Z pics. Although, there were a few pics where the iPhone came out on top.
Thanks guys. I (a little) ashamed to say Im leaning more towards the Galaxy s4 now after a glimpse into it... instead of the xperia z.
I think subconciously I know the right choice is to switch and give up my ip5 but I've been an iphone user for so many years. Maybe I just needed some convincing
But highlly anticipating the S4!!! Guess I should move this to the s4 threads now,.,
The camera of Xperia Z is really great and I have used it which owned by one of my friends.
I am about to commit myself to yet another contract and coming from the arc, Which I've been more than happy with I think I'm going to go for the Z.
Now I've read countless threads about pros/cons but all in all, should I look towards the HTC one or even s4... Not a big fan of either but I want my contracts worth out of the phone!

They are all 3 great phones, they all have pro's and cons it doesn't matter which of the 3 you choose they are all good phones that are worth your money.
Since you're in a Sony section and since you come from the arc, I'd say go for the Xperia Z, you really won't regret it.

technically i suggest for htc or Sony
and cause htc One got delay report it means htc couldn't do so well
SO for nowadays Xperia Z can be ur Zing
:good:
If you use your phone for light tasks and not allot, XZ with stamina mode will make you through days.
HTC one camera will be very useful if your pics r taken in lowlight condition.
As for Sammy, I think they do as Apple do in every good and bad way.

I like my Xperia Z a lot, but the specs of the HTC One sure are very sexy.
Galaxy S is not my type of phone, it is okay but I prefer the Xperia Z above that one for sure.
Kind regards, Stefan.
Thanks all. Pretty much helped confirm what I already thought.
Although specs of others are looking stronger in areas, I like the quality build and theming of Sony, plus coming from the arc, I know that it will be readily modifiable.
I have come from HTC, and so glad I did. Much more functionality within the Sony phone.
USB Host, Throw, screen mirror connect and display to my tv, laptop... out of the box. Syncing/backing up any parts of your phone/micro SD to PC, none of which exists on any of my HTC devices.
Walkman app with custom eq, blows away any of HTC beats phones for sound quality.
Theming is not Sony's strong suit on this phone, much more customisable with HTC, especially like the grey bars...
IMO, HTC build quality is probably the best out there and always has been. And the release to public OS is more stable and has less issues, eg WIFI, initial setup quirks. But I also think that Sony may have rushed this out to market before the other big guns released there flagship phones for 2013, hence some of what I mentioned about the OS.
Buy the Sony, I am sure you won't regret it. I am happy with almost all aspects of the Xperia Z.
Since your current phone is the Xperia Arc, which is the same generation as my previous phone (the LG Optimus 2X), you might get the same experience that I had. Personally, I am blown away by this phone.
You're on XDA so I am assuming you are fond of the idea of good development support from the manufacturers. This means no to the S4. The S2, 3 note and note 2 are prime examples that samsung exynos devices are more or less the worst thing for development. If you are happy on stock roms then it might be allright.. but then again their stock roms are pretty awful, buggy and laggy. Not to mention the super brick bug.
I wouldn't dream of saying don't get the htc one as I think it should be great. It simply wasn't what I was after (namely water resistance and larger screen).
Development is important to me, I have gone through more roms, kernels and phone brickings that i ever thought I would, and yet the phone is still in one piece!
I am a big fan of Sony phones, despite various issues but then I suppose all phones have flaws...
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
It depends, from the sound of it, it looks like you're getting the Z on contract which means you can't unlock the bootloader. Whether or not that is an issue is up to you.
That being said I absolutely love the stock software on my phone as it is. I'm a flashaholic and I haven't even unlocked the bootloader yet! I only rooted it to remove the charging notification.
Sony have really stepped up their game with the Z in terms of both hardware and software. It just works, simple. There are a few bugs but they aren't major and hopefully they'll be fixed shortly.
These are the models I have short listed:
Xperia V, SP, T, TX or Acro S.
I also have my eyes on Xperia M (but i don't know yet how much it costs or if its available, the functions of this phone is the just the right for me and im attracted to its smaller size), Huawei ascend p1, Samsung s4 mini and the Motorola droid mini (really good specs and hoping it would cost something similar to the rest).
If you had a choice which one would you go for ?
If you like the smaller ones then go for M
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
1.5 ghz dual-core krait processor plus 4.3" 720p display. Trust me I wear skinny jeans or skinny chinos most of the time and my Xperia V fits nicely in my pockets. It's not that big.
Sent from my LT25i using xda app-developers app
I would suggest one of the newer phones sinply due to the likelihood of getting further official updates through Sony if you don't want to unlock the bootloader immediately.
On that note I would suggest between the Xperia T, SP or the M if you do prefer the smaller footprint of the phone. A phone running a Krait chip should be your minimum for further dev support in the future.

None. Wait a week or two for the release of the Moto X. If rumours are to be believed and it is as cheap as they say, it will drive the prices down. Then make a decision.
Tipsters told both Android Community and GizmoFusion, the Moto X will cost $299 (£199) for the 16GB version, while the 32GB version will cost either $349 (£230) or $399 (260) in the US when it launches.

That is whats on my mind and hoping for now. I just came across the Moto droid mini now and edited my first post after being blown away by its specs. The droid mini seems to be the best.
Other than than, im still breaking my head trying to figure out which is best between Xperia V, TX and SP.
My phone usage would consist of :
- Work usage (calls, emails, work site images, work apps)
- Video calling and chat.
- High end and feel good design, handy size (smaller the better), durable
- battery life
- Ability to update to latest android and have good interface and experience. ( kind off bored with the older android versions and so would be great to have new look on the new phone)
buy xperia SP
- better battery life (almoste 2 times better than others)
- faster official update
- better GPU and CPU
SP or you are mad

The nexus 4 would be your best option, or wait for the Nexus 5.
In terms of battery the new Motorola droids being released have very good battery specs. Now Google own Motorola, they are reportedly adding AOSP support to the new devices, but will they keep them up to date with the latest firmware? only time will tell.

Yea Nexus 4 seems to be the best option (although I wish it looked better. Edit: ill take that back. it looks great.).
Im disappointed with moto not releasing its models for worldwide. I had a chat with moto customer service and he denied any possibility of the Droid mini or even razr M, being worldwide. Moto broke my heart.
