These are the models I have short listed:
Xperia V, SP, T, TX or Acro S.
I also have my eyes on Xperia M (but i don't know yet how much it costs or if its available, the functions of this phone is the just the right for me and im attracted to its smaller size), Huawei ascend p1, Samsung s4 mini and the Motorola droid mini (really good specs and hoping it would cost something similar to the rest).
If you had a choice which one would you go for ?
If you like the smaller ones then go for M

1.5 ghz dual-core krait processor plus 4.3" 720p display. Trust me I wear skinny jeans or skinny chinos most of the time and my Xperia V fits nicely in my pockets. It's not that big.

I would suggest one of the newer phones sinply due to the likelihood of getting further official updates through Sony if you don't want to unlock the bootloader immediately.
On that note I would suggest between the Xperia T, SP or the M if you do prefer the smaller footprint of the phone. A phone running a Krait chip should be your minimum for further dev support in the future.

None. Wait a week or two for the release of the Moto X. If rumours are to be believed and it is as cheap as they say, it will drive the prices down. Then make a decision.
Tipsters told both Android Community and GizmoFusion, the Moto X will cost $299 (£199) for the 16GB version, while the 32GB version will cost either $349 (£230) or $399 (260) in the US when it launches.

That is whats on my mind and hoping for now. I just came across the Moto droid mini now and edited my first post after being blown away by its specs. The droid mini seems to be the best.
Other than than, im still breaking my head trying to figure out which is best between Xperia V, TX and SP.
My phone usage would consist of :
- Work usage (calls, emails, work site images, work apps)
- Video calling and chat.
- High end and feel good design, handy size (smaller the better), durable
- battery life
- Ability to update to latest android and have good interface and experience. ( kind off bored with the older android versions and so would be great to have new look on the new phone)
buy xperia SP
- better battery life (almoste 2 times better than others)
- faster official update
- better GPU and CPU
SP or you are mad

Sony re fond of not supporting old mobiles.

The nexus 4 would be your best option, or wait for the Nexus 5.
In terms of battery the new Motorola droids being released have very good battery specs. Now Google own Motorola, they are reportedly adding AOSP support to the new devices, but will they keep them up to date with the latest firmware? only time will tell.

Yea Nexus 4 seems to be the best option (although I wish it looked better. Edit: ill take that back. it looks great.).
Im disappointed with moto not releasing its models for worldwide. I had a chat with moto customer service and he denied any possibility of the Droid mini or even razr M, being worldwide. Moto broke my heart.

Hi all.
So I currently have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. My intent has been to cancel my VZW contract and buy an unlocked Nexus device, back when rumors were that we would see multiple Nexus devices from Sony, HTC, Samsung, and LG.
When the Xperia range was announced I was extremely impressed and was holding out hopes for an Xperia Nexus.
With everything announced about the Nexus 4, I am not entirely convinced it's the device I want. I have a Nexus 7 so I'll have the benefit of the newest Android version on release, but I wanted to know if the developer support of the T or TL would be active enough to get Cyanogen Mod or AOKP updates timely? I can live without a Nexus phone if I can expect a new CM or AOKP build within a month or two, but not if I have to rely entirely on Sony for updates.
What do you think? Should I pick up the T or TL? How is the dev support for each?

I'll be switching phone to the Asus Padfone 2 or Galaxy Note 2.
But I am really interested in the LG Nexus 4 as it's really a cheaper than most of the high ends phone in the UK anyways (£399). Only downside is 16gb, if they released a 32gb, i'll defo get it!
Totally happy with the unbranded T though. Best phone I've owned

Thank you all form the candid advice. I'm a bit disappointed - had my heart set on a Sony Nexus, love their hardware design, but it looks like I'll be picking up the Nexus 4. Looks rather uninspiring, but maybe it will win me over in person.
Thanks for the advice!

Just for everyone expecting a Sony Nexus, they said at IFA that it'd be extremely (extremely) unlikely for them to release one. On the hardware side Sony's profit margin on the Xperia's is rather low and they're pushing their services and integration with other Sony products really hard (Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, PlayMemories, PS Suite, Sony Select app store, ...).
Releasing a Sony Nexus at a sharp price would mean a pretty much complete lack of Sony's strong points: their ecosystem and their software.
For me especially Sony's software is a major selling point for their phones. Sure, it's not the latest Android version, but who the hell cares? The things Sony adds on top of a clean AOSP build are so much better than a few version jumps. You get the best music player available for Android by far (Walkman), an awesome camera UI, a skin that looks nice without getting boring (unlike AOSP Android), a totally epic Album application and I can go on. Everything Sony's done in their software builds is really nice and provides a lot of value over a clean Android in my opinion.
But it's your decision of course. If you prefer AOSP over Sony's Android then by all means go for a Nexus, you'll love it!
In reality you can not make your final decision till you see the actual Nexus phones in Google' upcoming event which was cancelled? If I recall correctly, we were suppose to have few nexus phones this year? Or, Google said that Vanilla android in more devices?
Anyways, only reason I choose all Nexus family on Sony or other devices is their update time and more development but I have never been impressed by their design and I hope that Sony picks on a Nexus phone with Vanilla android and Google supports it. You call it anything you like.

Completely agree, and this is my first Sony. Primarily held HTC devices in the past.
Also, the Nexus 4 is basically the LG phone, which would scare the hell out of me right away. I had an LG G2x, and had is not a strong enough word to describe how quickly I dropped it. My daughter uses it now, and I feel sorry for her.
Hi all,
Believe me, I am wary of LG and have not had good hardware experience with them through any friends phones, and designs are uninspiring. I will reserve judgement until I see it in person, but I may just buy a GSM GNex and dump my VZW contract if I don't find it satisfactory.
I am turned off of anything on Verizon due to their lengthy update delays and horrible battery life from CDMA. I feel that their delays are deliberate and made in their own interest - which they are well within their rights to do, but I can also take my money elsewhere. The VZW logo on the GNote just reinforces it.
I love AOSP Android, and CyanogenMod/AOKP customization, and run it on my N7, GNex, and GS2 on ATT.
But -I love Sony's hardware design, specs, and build quality - and I could live without having AOSP from Google the moment it was released, as long as it has decent dev support and CM10/AOKP devs working on it with prompt release. This is really the only thing holding me back from jumping on the Sony wagon, I just feel they have a huge missed opportunity by not wanting to release a Nexus.
A locked bootloader is a no-go for me - especially as I intend to buy it SIM unlocked.
I wouldn't mind Sony pushing their Xperia stuff and ecosystem, as long as they had quick release of drivers/binaries to allow dev support. But if its not there, I can't buy it.
I suppose I have to hold out hope that the LG is not as bad as it looks or as I expect.
Fingers crossed!

I never thought I would even consider owning a LG product in my life. Google has changed it for me!!!! Damn, I will miss Sony phones until they catch up in keeping us with latest OS updates or comes with extraordinary design and build quality.

Not even the fact that it's LG, just the price they are asking versus the specs... The low price had to come from somewhere... It's not like they're selling it at a loss or anything.

I've been offered a couple of deals on some phone by o2 , my question is would owners of the xperia T pay a extra £100 to have a nexus 4 or one x plus .
Also does the UK have the jelly bean up date yet???
I also had the nexus 4 for a month and then sold it instead of my TX(almost same as T). I felt my TX is more well-built and felt nicer with the hands, the thinness of TX really makes a difference for me. Only advantage of N4 is the more smooth and fluid experience due to JB software but that would come to T/TX this coming March as well so...
And the display really made the decision for me, viewing an identical photo and an identical hd YouTube video is far more pleasing with the TX compared to nexus 4 when I compared it side by side. The vibrant and sharpness colors in TX is really better than nexus 4.
And my wife got one x (which has same display with one x+), it beats the other 2 in my opinion, tiny bit better than TX but the nexus 4 got no chance.
So if screen factor doesn't bother you much, and not to mention the sd card slot(T/TX), just go for nexus 4. Otherwise, go for T/TX or One X+.

You've been blinded by the fact that you own one, especially if you have one without the opticontrast screen. The HOX screen is much, much better than any other 720p screen on the market, miles ahead over the one on the XT. It's even better than the one on the Galaxy S3 imo.

Yeah my GF has a One X and I have viewing angle jealousy, in fact general screen jealousy, the One X's screen is the best that I have seen on any phone, ever. That is until you press on the sides that is or it cooks itself.
The only plus point is I can see what's on her screen but she can't see mine
The other two devices should both have an unlockable bootloader (not certain about the One X on O2) and the Nexus is a Nexus so that goes without saying. However if you get an Xperia T from O2 it will have a non-unlockable bootloader (for the time being anyway).
FYI nowhere has Jelly Bean yet, there are rumours and screenshots of a supposed JB update but nobody on these forums has it yet officially or unofficially.
One X has better screen than one X+, they are not the same. I would choose Nexus 4 too, if u dont need sd, like they said above me

I had a one X and would LOVE a One X+
I lost my one X in Paris (damn you travel insurance that doesn't cover mobile phones...!!!!)
I then got an Xperia T.
My biggest gripe with the Xperia compared to the one X is simply down to less development in relation to the One X on these forums.
Camera - Sony wins hands down
Screen - One X wins hands down
for actual use, both handsets are pretty comparable however I believe the one X has quad core compared to the double core -> will benchmark higher, but for real time usage, both similar.
Would I pay an extra £100 and have the One X+? probably - but am a tech junkie
If i didnt have the urge to flash new builds when available, I probably would say keep the £100 and get the Xperia
Nexus - haven't used, but have read operating it is a beast, but camera it is iphone level

Hi ,
Need some help to choose between the Xperia T or the LG optimus 4x. Getting both phones at same price of 480$ ( Rs 26K INR) .
Reasons why i want to go for Xperia T
- Better looking phone
- Slightly smaller
- Good screen
Reasons why i want to go for LG 4x
- quad core
- ips screen
- better battery
The only reason i'm hesitant to get the Xperia T was the back paint peeling off but later i saw that that was an issue with only a particular batch.
The xperia T also looks much better than the brick shaped 4x but performance wise 4x is better.
Camera on the other hand is better on the T but i dont use the cam a lot anyway.
Also even though the 4x is bigger it is lighter than the T.
Need to decide which one to buy before 30th of this month! Any help/ inputs will be appreciated!:fingers-crossed:
LG 4x is alot slower than T. I have compared them once. If you dont actualy want teh best battery life. Then go for teh T. And just get a case to prevent peeling
Seriously? I wouldn't consider a LG Device in my wildest dreams
Of course everybody in this section will recommend getting the XT, as will everybody on the 4X section recommend getting the LG. BTW, tegra 3 is in some cases slower than the Krait SoC on the XT, especially on a badly optimized device like the 4X. It's GPU is better though . If you really want tegra 3 or a better screen than the one on the Xperia T, you should go for the HTC One X.
If you are concerned about the coating peeling off, just get a silicone case. You should get one anyway.

My current device is an LG optimus one and it is quite awesome. Dev is great for the device and i've even put windows 95 one it once just for fun! I've even bricked it a few times Its been 2 more than 2 years with the device and its great but now its time for me to upgrade so yes i would trust LG and the community is always great for these phones

A powerful GPU is not good only for gaming, but also for future-proofing. It seems that android is relying more and more on the GPU in the UI (hardware acceleration in ICS, project butter in JB)

Hmm that makes sense. So if the LG is more future proof i'm guessing its a better choice but somehow i don't know for some reason i'm still preferring the Xperia T. Maybe that's why i asked the question in this forum and not the LG one because i wanted a biased opinion ( i should be a shrink! )
The GPU in the Krait (Adreno 225) is not a slouch by any means. It's also identical to the one in the Nexus 4 (correct me if I'm wrong) so no worries about future proofing.

sry for my bad En
I owned the LG 4x HD but sold it bcz it wasn't unlocked yet and no ROM's.
Xperia T sure got better build then the LG 4X HD, but the screen for sure is better with LG. What about the processor don't know it seems as fast as the Xperia T.
I think price and specs the LG 4x HD is a very good deal and you have a quad core if that really matters bcz I don't think it matters right now.
What make me buy a phone is sure the design and that's where the Xperia T take the edge over almost all smartphones !!!
Build quality of LG looks very cheap with the backcover that's from cheap plastic feel, mybe with another backcover it would be much better.
ALso the layout is very basic and clean but you can customize little bit with widgets and stuff and if the phone had great support of developers it would be sure a good phone to have .....
I will keep it with my Xperia T and it's arc design to bad it isn't has thin as the arc was.

Not at all! It depends of what you need: if you want a larger screen, a faster CPU (I think that S4 pro dual is faster than S400), if you don't care to have the last android updates like kit kat and you are ready to put the difference of100$ in a xperia,

Horrible idea, It's considered a downgrade more than an upgrade. The SP only has a better GPU. Stick with the G for now, if you really like Sony, wait for the Xperia G to come out (a new mid-range phone) I own an SP but I wouldn't recommend buying it now, maybe last year but now, definatly not. Also it weighs a ton which is one of it's bigger flaws.

well the dual core krait in the SP is much faster than the moto G and it has better gpu, the camera's are on par, but only because of the terrible software on the xsp, the battery in the sp trumps the G and not to mention the LED strip on the XSP. wait till the xperia G comes out, now thats gonna be one heck of a phone

I would say so but others will disagree the nexus 5 was my first choice but I couldn't afford it.

If you look at spec and updates I'd say go with N5. But the XSP is also a very good device. Just a bit (very) slow with updates from Sony sometimes

Well maybe benchmarks says that SP is better, but software is crap (lag, freezing and slow IO), it would be wonderfull to have unlockable bootloader, but its impossible on my one (orange carrier). I had nexus 7 and it make 18k on antutu after customization, multitasking was great and all creativity, SP got 23,500 but its much slower in multitasking and overall usage.

I strongly advice anyone against buying a Sony device. Slow updates and when you finally get one it's crap... again... I'm so frustrated by the SP, but unfortunately I don't have the money to get another device right now. If you can buy the nexus 5... do it! Otherwise the Moto G is a good option too. I said this before and people started ranting at me because the SP was much better in their opinion, but I've tested the Moto G and I liked it better than the SP. It even had 4.4 long before Sony started rolling out 4.3! And it has less annoying bugs which gives a better overall user experience.
Like binniebin said, you need the software to go with the hardware otherwise the hardware is nothing. If only Sony could make decent firmware :crying:
If you can have a very sexy and beautiful girl with Double D's if that's your thing, but she is stupid as a cow which drives you crazy after a while OR you can have a still very beautiful girl, but with a little smaller (you know what I mean)'s and she'll do almost everything as you want because she is smart(er) and understands you... You'd be better off with the second one eventhough people say she is less hot.
Yet another another anology: You can better have 150 horsepower in a lightweight streamlined car than 200 horsepower in a heavy old scrapheap which has the aerodynamic characteristics of a brick wall because the lightweight will be more fun... But well maybe that's just my opinion....

Better option is to exchange Xperia SP for Nexus 4 and take some cache.

Same resolution, quad core on N4 and 2Gb RAM plus 50€ or more on your pocket.
Plus, you will always have latest available Android and many custom ROMs
You can see for example on ebay.de that Xperia SP is sold in auctions for around 170€
while Nexus 4 you can buy for 120€

Since @KiaTheKing is from Belgrade, Serbia (like me) :cyclops:
I don't think that would be the issue since 4G here is still not introduced
