I've been offered a couple of deals on some phone by o2 , my question is would owners of the xperia T pay a extra £100 to have a nexus 4 or one x plus .
Also does the UK have the jelly bean up date yet???
I also had the nexus 4 for a month and then sold it instead of my TX(almost same as T). I felt my TX is more well-built and felt nicer with the hands, the thinness of TX really makes a difference for me. Only advantage of N4 is the more smooth and fluid experience due to JB software but that would come to T/TX this coming March as well so...
And the display really made the decision for me, viewing an identical photo and an identical hd YouTube video is far more pleasing with the TX compared to nexus 4 when I compared it side by side. The vibrant and sharpness colors in TX is really better than nexus 4.
And my wife got one x (which has same display with one x+), it beats the other 2 in my opinion, tiny bit better than TX but the nexus 4 got no chance.
So if screen factor doesn't bother you much, and not to mention the sd card slot(T/TX), just go for nexus 4. Otherwise, go for T/TX or One X+.

You've been blinded by the fact that you own one, especially if you have one without the opticontrast screen. The HOX screen is much, much better than any other 720p screen on the market, miles ahead over the one on the XT. It's even better than the one on the Galaxy S3 imo.

@Rycon: It's not just a tiny bit better, the difference is night and day, especially when it comes to viewing angles.
@OP: Go for the Nexus 4 unless you really need SD card support.

Yeah my GF has a One X and I have viewing angle jealousy, in fact general screen jealousy, the One X's screen is the best that I have seen on any phone, ever. That is until you press on the sides that is or it cooks itself.
The only plus point is I can see what's on her screen but she can't see mine
The other two devices should both have an unlockable bootloader (not certain about the One X on O2) and the Nexus is a Nexus so that goes without saying. However if you get an Xperia T from O2 it will have a non-unlockable bootloader (for the time being anyway).
FYI nowhere has Jelly Bean yet, there are rumours and screenshots of a supposed JB update but nobody on these forums has it yet officially or unofficially.
One X has better screen than one X+, they are not the same. I would choose Nexus 4 too, if u dont need sd, like they said above me

I had a one X and would LOVE a One X+
I lost my one X in Paris (damn you travel insurance that doesn't cover mobile phones...!!!!)
I then got an Xperia T.
My biggest gripe with the Xperia compared to the one X is simply down to less development in relation to the One X on these forums.
Camera - Sony wins hands down
Screen - One X wins hands down
for actual use, both handsets are pretty comparable however I believe the one X has quad core compared to the double core -> will benchmark higher, but for real time usage, both similar.
Would I pay an extra £100 and have the One X+? probably - but am a tech junkie
If i didnt have the urge to flash new builds when available, I probably would say keep the £100 and get the Xperia
Nexus - haven't used, but have read operating it is a beast, but camera it is iphone level
Does the OX+ have that much development either? I don't think it has CM10/10.1 yet as far as I remember.

isn't it just upgrade from onex? can't imagine would take much to amend the roms/kernels accordingly

EDIT
Apologies, I thought you argueing the other way. Any phone with no SD card expansion slot is not worth it...so its a no brainer for me!

I've just got my hands on a black HTC One X, i'm very tempted to keep it because the phone looks quality and obviously its a quad core. The screen is a decent size to be honest.
so buy it...you're the one who will be using it..
theres always a newer phone right around the corner..
Hi,
Was that a review or a question or what?
If you're going to make a statement about the 2 phones do just that, make the comparisons about them both and let us know what you feel about them. Maybe post a few photos of them next to each other or something.
If you want to know which one to keep then everyone is going to tell you that the note is a far better phone.
Enjoy..
I'm actually tempted to trade in my Note for a one X myself, because of the black clipping issues, but yea a bit more info would be helpfull.
Whats the video quality like on the one X?
X has smaller screen and no s-pen. That's an issue for many of us.
Greath phone though, haven't used it so cant give you a review or comparison - what i can say though is that 4 cores are not needed at the moment ( good to have them, but not a must ) and that you'll easily find poor battery life information all over the network about the X.
I honestly don't need 4 cores. The Note has a huge screen, which is something I DO need. The large battery has always lasted me a full day, even with heavy usage, I can't say the same about ANY other device I've ever used aside from the Blackberries (prior to the 7 devices, which have horrible battery life).
I'm happy with this device. The large screen is perfect for reading, and typing. The S-Pen helps me out a lot when I need it. Battery life is great.
What else do I need?
I'm sure I will ONE DAY need a 4 core phone, but it's not close for the time being.
BUT if you enjoy it then go for it It looks like a killer device!
If you come to this group fo ask, you'll probably get biased replies

Having the same confusion. But, thinking to hold off until sgs3 announcement atleast.
I'd say One X in a heart beat if it had more RAM than the note, which it does not.
CPU/GPU power is a non issue unless you are trying to run very taxing games.
Interesting. Well I suppose it depends on what you prefer really. Personally I would not trade my note for any HTC as of present.
But the one x does look nice however. I like the materials they've used. Good quality build

I picked up a One X and after using it for a few hours, I was back to my Note.
I'll still give the One X a chance but going back to a smaller screen (although it is an AWESOME screen) is really tough...
So many cons about the One X. And it has sense on it. Id rather wait for the perfect phone. Oh wait. I already have it.
From what I've read...and my reason for not going with the OneX:
OneX has a smaller battery (1800 vs 2500) which leads me to believe battery life won't be as good.
OneX lacks expandable memory...16GB internal only
Same RAM
...and the Note is available right now.
Well I have a Note in brand new condition. if anybody wants to swap for an HTC One X!

While I prefer the Note, the HTC One X is available now and has 32gb of internal storage.
(Not having a microsd slot is a disturbing trend, though.)
The answer is actually quite easy : ' It's not a Note...'

Still haven't found the One X available...either on Amazon Wireless or through AT&T.
Ah, I see what you mean. Not sure about the US specific model.
So far it's only available unlocked.
Took my sister new phone shopping today, it boiled down to the note like mine, or the one x.
she opted for the one x.
I got a chance to play around with it and play with it side by side with my note.
The screen is gorgeous on both, and aside from the fact that the note has a bigger screen, the picture quality is identical to my admittedly untrained eye.
I have never thought my note was laggy, however, next to the one x, there was some noticable choppiness that just wasn't evident when i had nothing to compare to. Side by side, the one x is noticeably smoother.
the camera on the one x was fantastic. great quality pictures, and fantastic shutter speed, i was able to snap pics repeatedly in great quality. I have never had any problem with the camera on my note, it produces great photos, but the one x camera beats it.
I did however notice in the 20 minutes or so I got to play with the one x that the battery did dip quite a bit. Perhaps an unfair comparison, as I've removed all the bloat from the note, and have a custom kernel, but there it is.
25gb free dropbox looks good too, it's built in to the os, and prompts you to claim it on first boot.
honestly, if my contract was up for renewal today, I'd still pick the note. Screen size, s-pen, battery life, changeable battery, and sd card slot make it the choice for me. however, it would be a much tougher choice than it was 3 months ago.
Both good phones, and there is no right or wrong choice. The one x and the note are top of the class at the moment.
HTC One series (S or X). No expandable storage. Lower resolution. Poorer speaker.

Noone will put a 4k display to 5" phone, thats plain stupid so this one you may drop.
Snapdragon 800 will be more likely used in tablets, so i also dont expect it to be in next Nexus device , it will most probably will be SD600 like in other top models this year.
Ill bet for 1080P , 5" screen (which is also useless in phone, but everyone got it so Google will also). 2GB of ram (who needs more in a phone?)
No sdcard slot, no removable battery - standard in google phones.
the most major change will be the OS, KLP will most probably be pushed to phones after I/O.

4k refers to video its called ultra hd.wow . also....it seems(could of course be wrong) like you dissing or dissmising nexuses?! First are you forgeting price??!! Way below norm.people are and will eventually flock once out of a contract fir a 249$ phone. Second nexus strives now(not the gnex albeit a good phone) to be the top o line device. My lgog which is the n4 brother destroyed the Samsung Galaxy s3 in the way many ways including speed. The lgog is the top scorer stock on quadrant. Yes i know its not everyday use im just making a point. I have contacts at lg(a cousin who is a dev) and all these specs are being seriously considered.(blueprint will be at fed communication soon) and the almost for sure one is the snapdragon 800. So your guess is flawed. Sorry

I'm in the market for an upgrade and am torn between the Xperia Z and the Nexus 4. Obviously the Nexus 4 has the advantages of cost and timely updates from Google. I've read a lot of professional reviews about both phones, but would enjoy the chance to hear from Xperia Z owners about why I should choose this device over the Nexus 4.
The main advantages that I can see are; the screen resolution, the LCD screen being better in direct sunlight, 4G, upgradeable storage, waterproof, arguably stronger to being dropped, better battery life, better looks. Of those the upgradeable storage seems like a large gain, and the waterproofing a nice novelty (unless it one day saves me I guess!)
I'd love to hear from anyone that wants to persuade me to spend a bit more cash and go for the XZ.
I sold my N4 and bought an XZ. The only advantage the N4 has is that it's a Nexus, I run Cyanogenmod though so that's pretty much a non issue for me. Also, the N4 has a much more active dev community. Obviously it's cheaper too. I prefer the XZ in every other way though.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
as the upper guy said go for the XperiaZ if u like giving your phone a shower every week
and have you checked ZL cause it is smaller with same 5inch screen
it's lighter also it has a better sound since its not rugged
Thanks for your reply about the ZL. According to the Sony website it's a few grams heavier but a decent bit smaller dimension wise. It's not available over here yet, but I'm going to keep an eye out for it.
I'd be interested to hear opinions about two issues that have come up in the reviews:
1) Software flaws that require the phone to be restarted to resolve
2) How the phone feels against your ear during calls - this sounds a bit of a strange one I admit!
Finally, does anyone have any information about the cost of Sony replacing the battery. Having replaced the battery (quite easily) on my Samsung Galaxy after about a year I'd be interested to know how easy/costly it is on a device such as this. I know Apple replace them on the iPhones for £55.
If it was my decision I would get a n4. Not only does it trounce the XZ in benchmarks but you get the vanilla android experience and you'll always be on the cutting edge when it comes to software updates. If 4G is a must then its the XZ you'll want although the hspa+ on the n4 is more than fast enough. Also, If you need the best shooter you can get then the XZ is also your best bet although again the nexus 4 is still not awful with its 8mp camera. Both phones will require a wipe down every once in a while due to their design (the nexus 4 has a gorilla glass back). I don't own a nexus 4 myself but quite a bit of my friends do and while only one of them has shattered the back cover, I've read many stories of people who absolutely despise the Nexus 4 claiming the back will shatter at the slight impact, however this can easily be worked around with a nice beefy case if you're worried.

I'm sort of in the same boat, I sold my iPhone 5 and brought a nexus 4.
I'm happy with it to a point but I'm really interested in the Z, I'm not sure why but it looks amazing.
I've never really played with a Z apart from a demo handset in phone shop but it looked wicked.
I think the main thing I got the nexus for was the updates, I'm happy with the performance of the phone, battery life could be better but apart from that, the nexus is a really good phone.
But if I had the chance to swap for a xperia Z then I would definitely swap.

I wouldnt make the jump or wouldnt pay extra 200 for XZ over nexus 4, its a good phone but not a lot of dev for it, so far we have 1 kernel developer and maybe 4-5 good roms dev after 3 months coming out. I dint think it was a big jump from S3 to XZ.
CM10.1 is on here but there are a lot of bugs including memory leak. XZ is comparable to N4 but I dont think it can compete with HTC one or S4 and thats coming from someone who own the phone for more than a month.
P.s Dont come on this forum and ask for opinion, youtube and look at your options, most on here are either Fanboy or Sony employee.

That wasn't a memory leak though, it was a gpu scaling issue and has been fixed (for me at least). It was a very minor issue and I wouldn't have even noticed if it wasn't pointed out.
Others have pointed out the price difference. This is absolutely right. Having the N4, if the XZ wasn't given to me, I wouldn't have gotten it. Between the 2, the N4 is half the price. If you're looking to spend money on one or other, the N4's definitely a bigger bang for the buck. While I do firmly believe that the XZ is a better all around phone, I can't honestly say that the differences you get warrant the additional 300 bucks.
Well I guess it depends on where you live but I'd only save 40SEK (About 6.50USD) A month on the Nexus 4.
And the salesman was really pushing the nexus4 so I guess it isn't to popular here in Sweden either. So the choice was easy for me.
Aannyyway, I went with the Z, obviously. Mostly for the water resitance as i broke my S2 from water damage and my arc got dropped once to (but it survived)
I love this phone, I don't have any issues with it. Except that you NEED to buy good screen protector, one with lifetime warranty perhaps.
You do not wan't to scratch the Anti-Shatter Filter. ( I actually returned mine because I did and got it replaced)
Thanks for all of your inputs. I feel a lot more informed, but I'm not sure if I'm any closer to making a decision.
The more I think about it though the more interested I am in the 'pure Android' experience. I might try and bide my time and wait and see if the S4 'Nexus' ships internationally, or if there is any noise towards the end of the year about a Nexus 5.

Xperia Z has open AOSP Sources, with time there will be a perfect AOSP rom, and the roms we've got now are perfectly fine, they're great actually, the Carbonrom is almost flaw free. and Cyanogenmod works great as a daily driver, few lag bugs and radio isn't working afaik.
I paid as much for the xperia z then I would for the nexus 4. And I get waterproof and bigger screen. So it was easy to make the call and expendable memory is nice too. Both would cost 300 euros. Defiantly the Xperia Z is the better phone for the same price.

I find my Galaxy Nexus too big, and I am very intrigued by this phone. It looks like I can get it new and unlocked for about $130-160 on Ebay and it has about the same, if not better specs than my Gnex.
Could anyone offer me any arguments for or against this move?
Don't factor unlocked into your buying decision, you can unlock it yourself once you have root.
The "cons":
- "Only" 16 gb of storage (yet I don't know anyone who puts 16 gb of anything on their phone)
- "Mid range" specs (I've tested the most graphically intense games out there and they run smoothly)
- Size
- Facebook Home (not worth mentioning, we're on XDA)
The real cons:
- The camera is relatively weak but it improves with this mod.
- No expandable storage
- No removable battery
- Little attention
The pros:
- High PPI
- Specs
- Good battery life
- LTE, NFC
- Size
- Solid construction

I don't understand why so few people care about this phone but go gaga over the One Mini, they're practically twins specwise. I guess people just like shiny things I'm a Thinkpad kinda guy so the First looks better to me.
People are trying to port the One Mini's stock 4.2.2 rom, once that's successful we might see Cyanogen on the First. Until then I'd recommend sticking to stock, JMZ's sense rom has a few issues.
Thank You for the information.
I actually consider size one of my primary motivations for going this route. I find most modern phones way too large, and I sure as hell do not want to go the Iphone route. This phone seems like a really awesome phone that just wasn't marketed properly.
I do not mind the mid range specs, and my Gnex already is stuck at 16gb with no expandable storage, and while the battery is removable, its still a pretty weak battery.
I hope to be able to get one off Ebay sometime in the next couple of weeks, wait for the right deal.
In the first set of cons I was referring to things that reviewers have complained about. I kid you not, they complained about screen size after using their Galaxy phones for so long. They complained about numbers in benchmarks that are nigh unnoticeable in actual use. Then they spend the rest of the review bashing FB home which can be turned off with 2 taps.
Well, I purchased a HTC First today off of Ebay. I should be getting it by the end of next week. Pretty excited.
This phone needs a micro sim, not a regular sim is that right?

I find my Galaxy Nexus too big, and I am very intrigued by this phone. It looks like I can get it new and unlocked for about $130-160 on Ebay and it has about the same, if not better specs than my Gnex.
Could anyone offer me any arguments for or against this move?

I thought the HTC First was pretty great coming from the Galaxy Nexus. If you compare screen sizes, the ammount of display available on the Gnex is about equal to what's available on the First due to the on screen buttons on the GNex. I think the First is faster, has a prettier display, and has a really unique look along with LTE. That being said, my biggest complaint is that the phone is a forgotten phone already. There's no development support which is a huge bummer. I'd LOVE it if I could throw CM or AOKP on this device. It would be a dream come true.
I just got this phone and my mom took over my lg optimus g on sprint and put in a straight talk at&t LTE capable micro Sim card. I like the size and stock aosp. Coming from a rooted lg optimus g running pacman.

We have unofficial cm ports coming so we have some support. But HTC told me that its been discontinued.
Um, ya camera isn't as good as I would like, but hen I was picking between a used one x and this I picked the first cause 1.4ghz is a lot, my hands are small so 4.7 inches is too much and the used one x was 220$ while I got this for 155$ brand new.

Total noob to the Nexus line... owned MANY phones, and just came from iphone 5, then SG3, and this phone absolutely tunes them all. Best phone Ive ever owned, and a customer for life.
Coming from the S3, I have to say... (and the point of this thread is the SINGLE thing you love the most ---- but make it ORIGINAL... see my example)
The SINGLE best thing about my N5, is that my screen doesn't come on after I receiver EVERY. SINGLE. SMS. It was quite possibly the most annoying and infuriating thing about my S3. drove me nuts from day one. such a useless feature and w the amount of SMS i receive, a total waste of battery.
So... coming from your LAST phone, what's the SINGLE feature you love most?

Comming from an Xperia Play, i love the Performance, nothing out-beats it!
Coming from the cdma Samsung galaxy nexus (Verizon).
I love the battery life and how smooth it runs compared to the gnex.
Coming from the nexus 4 I love how light the phone is and the soft touch in the back, so sexy

Coming from too many phones to list I like the N5 for its perfectly calibrated super sharp and super bright screen. Of course I like it for many other reasons as well but the display stands out and also stands above the rest
Nexus5
Single feature I like is stock android right out the box and getting updates straight from Google.

Coming from the Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) I LOVE the battery life of this phone. Amazing.
for me it was the ability to run a true AOSP rom which I couldnt do with my d2spr
not a"cheap" device
the nexus is ok but at $349 it's far from being a "cheap" device
Coming from a Galaxy S4 I love using Vanilla Android with Gravity Box. No bloated skin etc. Love the Nexus line. Definitely sticking with it.

How does this have anything to do with this thread? Cheap is a relative term, you're right the nexus really isn't a "cheap" device, its quite good quality. But in comparison to other similar devices it is a VERY low priced device.
My single favorite thing about the N5 specifically is probably the sheer speed and smoothness, its so gratifying to use the phone even for just basis tasks. Most of my other "favorites" about the N5 could probably be applied to the whole nexus line in general.

I would have to agree with Pizza_Dox, we both came from the Xperia PLAY forum. Of course the single best thing about the XP was the dedicated built-in game controller. The N5 is so freaking fast and smooth on everything I throw at it... so Performance... hands down.
Coming from the S4, I love the total lack of Touchwiz and all that Knox nonsense.
Coming from the xperia play as well I love the screen size/look if this phone. The xperia play was 4 inches and I have giant hands. It made the game pad awkward to use. The screen also was pretty low quality I think it was 480p. This one blows it away.
I know it's only one thing but I gotta say a second one. It's nice to have the newest android version. On the play I was constantly flashing Roms because of being stick on ginger bread
Also the thin size of this. Lol too many good things for me to pick just one

Coming from N4

SCREEN. marvelous. crystal clear and has far better colors to my eye.
Comin from a Galaxy ace I love the performance !

-Being able to say I own a 'Nexus', sounds awesome doesn't it! Lol.
Google has done a superb job IMO.
Came from n4 and probably the snapdragon 800 + bigger screen and better camera over the n4. Everything else is just a plus
