Noone will put a 4k display to 5" phone, thats plain stupid so this one you may drop.
Snapdragon 800 will be more likely used in tablets, so i also dont expect it to be in next Nexus device , it will most probably will be SD600 like in other top models this year.
Ill bet for 1080P , 5" screen (which is also useless in phone, but everyone got it so Google will also). 2GB of ram (who needs more in a phone?)
No sdcard slot, no removable battery - standard in google phones.
the most major change will be the OS, KLP will most probably be pushed to phones after I/O.

4k refers to video its called ultra hd.wow . also....it seems(could of course be wrong) like you dissing or dissmising nexuses?! First are you forgeting price??!! Way below norm.people are and will eventually flock once out of a contract fir a 249$ phone. Second nexus strives now(not the gnex albeit a good phone) to be the top o line device. My lgog which is the n4 brother destroyed the Samsung Galaxy s3 in the way many ways including speed. The lgog is the top scorer stock on quadrant. Yes i know its not everyday use im just making a point. I have contacts at lg(a cousin who is a dev) and all these specs are being seriously considered.(blueprint will be at fed communication soon) and the almost for sure one is the snapdragon 800. So your guess is flawed. Sorry

doubt it .......
Let's play Devil's Advocate and assume these specs are pretty close to the truth. These specs already fall behind phones that are already out today, heck my Galaxy Note has more to offer than this phone, save the 12MP shooter (8 MP is good enough for most pics for web viewing and even printing 4"x6" photos) and NFC (still a few years from widespread adoption so by the time I get a new phone, it will be on more phones).
Just Rumor I think. . Unofficial announance usually come fake until apple release the news.
rumor just like the billions of rumors surfacing about the galaxy s3. although some of those seem close to the truth....
Nothing to prove any of specs yet...

I`am sure many of these posts will pop up in the next 6-7 months and they are to be taken with a grain (or bag) of salt.. But i read in an article that Google intends to enhance the camera drasticly in the next Nexus.
If the X Phone really is going to be their new 'affordable' phone, then I don't see why they wouldn't try to increase their reputation by going all out on a nexus device.
But the specs are kind of.. out of this world. I don't know what to expect anymore.. when the HTC One X first came out my mind exploded at quad core, and even when the SGS2 came out dual core blew my mind.
In the world of phones.. my mind will always be blown at least 2 times a year.

Drool...
Yeah... 0% chance of this happening, firstly there's LG as the manufacturer, while the original nexus was more about showing off android the new goal is helping the non-samsung manufacturers compete so I think the next one will be either Sony or HTC.
Secondly 3GB of RAM??? Generally RAM is one of those things like internal storage that goes in a specific binary pattern, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, etc it's odd they'd use 3, though not impossible but I don't think anyone sees 2GB as much of a limit considering the PS3 and 360 use only 512MB (I know apples and oranges but 2GB is a lot even for computer users)
As for the storage when we consider that the nexus 4 took a step back to 8 and 16GB variants and there are very few (to my knowledge) phones with 32GB having 64GB just seems like such an obvious lie.
The battery, 3300mAh when the note 2 with a 0.3inch bigger screen (and bigger bezel judging from the render) has a 3100mAh battery? Not impossible but highly implausible.
16MP rear camera, possible but i doubt it
4k recording, you mean record video on your phone that you won't be able to play on your phone, computer, tv for another 3-5years before it becomes a mainstream product? hahahahah NO!
Think I'll get a job as an anonymous source and provide more realistic rumours than this poor attempt
Discussing a particular phone's successor is OK, but this is the second Androidandme rumor thread that has been started.
Let's try and not turn this forum into a click-bait cesspool.
We can have a thread when there is more concrete evidence (i.e. a leak to a reputable source like the Wall Street Journal or the Verge)

I'd feel like an iPhone user upgrading to the same phone for just a bigger screen.
Can someone enlighten me why not having an S800 is a big deal? Are we really so hard pressed to need something more powerful? What real-world benefit does the 800 have over the 600 and what would it allow you to do than the 600 can't? As far as I can tell people are complaining just for the sake of complaining because a device doesn't contain bleeding edge technology and they want higher numbers in their benchmarks which translate into jack squat in real-world use. The only thing I can see that's beneficial is the "possibility" of better battery life, that is to say it is more energy efficient than the 600.
I'm happy with the One's performance... It has been able to handle everything I've thrown at it so something more powerful would be pointless to be. Screen real estate, possibly bigger/better speakers, and an SD card slot on the other hand would be awesome and much more benificial to me. You simply cannot compare it to people upgrading their iPhones because, while you may be getting the same hardware, the functionality and physical features of the phone are different.
The functionality is the same because it's literally the same phone but bigger. And it's a huge deal breaker for the people who own the one because what's the point for dishing out a lot of money for literally older tech and a phone you already have. I can't believe I'm saying this but the note 3 looks a lot more promising and the maxx is probably going to be the same price as that. HTC has probably just ruined themselves on this one .

Battery life is a pretty big factor, considering the improved idle times. They would likely satisfy a lot more geeks if they ditched the fingerprint scanner and used that cost for the upgrade to S800. Also lame is the camera downgrade. The 4MP Ultrapixels that has been proven to capture less detail than the competition in daylight, and the lack of OIS which made the One great in lowlight (taking blur free shots at 1/7sec shutter is pretty awesome)...so now it'll be below the competition in daylight and lowlight
5.9" 1080p Screen
Sense 5.5
Sd Card support
Boomsound Speakers
3300MAh battery
Gorgeous harware
Enough reasons to consider it over the Note 3. Atleast imo.
HTC is doing exactly what Samsung first did when they released the first GNote. 1st GNote had exaclty the same specs as the Galaxy s2 did.
So maybe HTC is only testing waters in the phablet territory. If it sees potential sales growth from the One Maxx sales, then One Maxx 2 should be so much sweeter.

word homey
HTC needs to go back to putting in "wow" in their products. Remember when the OG EVO came out and everybody was WOW! The One camera has issues, known fact. Why they are repeating this again is absurd, given their market share. Kudos to HTC for the relatively fast 4.3 update but still, this move won't win back more customers, just staying afloat at best.
It was put well by someone in a podcast. This just isn't the start of the next generation of phones, it's the tail end of this one. Samsung always has the note devices as one step ahead of the S series devices. Right or wrong, that created an expectation that HTC would do the same, when in reality there hasn't been any indication for a while now that it would be anything other than what it turned out to be. It's disappointing that they kept the phone essentially the same as the One, but it shouldn't have been as surprising as people are finding it.
Only saving grace for this phone is if they price it wisely... The One Max by all mean will be considered a low end phablet so let's hope it's priced accordingly.

Well put. The max is part of the same generation as the One. The note generally features some small spec bumps from the s phone that comes before it, like a mid ground between two different generations. The s800 architecturally as far as I can understand is just redesigned to handle higher clock speeds, clock per clock performance with the s600 should be on par or identical. 2gb of ram and the screen is the same great screen on this phone with a less dense pixel density, no biggie. The only part im not impressed by is the ugly presentation of the finger print scanner, and the camera hasn't been upgraded. It is a bit disappointing on this phone

You either buy a Nexus because you're a developer or because you want dev support. Sure, other devices get some decent ROMs, but Nexus devices always get the latest/greatest ROMs that leverage the newest iteration of the OS.

Where can you buy a brand new Samsung with all of that for $399.99 off contract??
Also the reasons are pretty damn simple, Price to Value its unbeatable, and you get the latest software first.
If price is of no conern there will ALWAYS be better phones.Hell the G2 is debatably a better phone in some aspects. It is only 1mm by 1mm smaller and the G2 has a .2" bigger screen with 800mah more battery.

Audio should be pretty much same across the board as it utilises Qualcomms DAC. Usually volume levels vary. However with Franco or Faux they implement sound boost on their respective kernels. Camera who knows too early to state as well as battery life. Storage is user preference. I've ordered one to test it out if I don't like it I will simply return it under DSR.

Seriously? Have you used a Snapdragon 800? I'm guessing not. The S3 is a slug, and TW was awful on the S3. (Yes I had one).
The speed difference is baffling from an S600 to the s800, just using the phone, let alone if you play mobile games. Battery life is also crazy. Comparing it to the Exynos 4 is just... well it is night and day.
And yes, this is a geek phone as well, with latest software and ROM options being far superior.
Anyway comparing an old MUCH lower specced phone like the S3 to anything modern is silly. You aren't JUST gaining a faster phone, there is a lot of other improved tech. Bigger screen, brighter screen, much higher DPI, BT4, Wireless charging, 802.11ac wifi, better camera features/stabilization, etc...

I really don't notice the difference in the screen between the S3 (720p) and the S4 or any other with 1080p. Some people do, I don't. The camera in the S3 and S4 (which I can find new for 380€) is superb, while the N5 is predictably a bit worse, even with the OIS.
Anyway, no phone is perfect. The sound in S3 and S4 is not so good either, the S4 doesn't have a FM Radio, the screens outdoors are very hard to see... hmm.
So about the camera...I took my kid trick or treating last night...With flash on, i'd hit the shutter button, the flash would come on and it was seriously focus for upwards of 8 secs before it took the pic. It was a crap shoot on whether you could make out the pic or not. Some guy said he's buying a phone, not a camera, but these companies are making phones so nice that a third party camera isn't needed unless you need a DSLR. Therefore, i rely on my phone cam.
Coming from the S4, the G2 camera is horrible at best at night. During the day it's great.
I have a g2 and it's the best smartphone camera I've used yet? Have owed most smartphones...including lumias. I have no idea what the hell you're talking about...piss poor?

Pretty much, as well as sucking at taking pictures of anything that moves.

the G2 is a great camera in daylight / still photos. I agree with him though personally I find it very poor in dark lighting or moving objects. HTC One was better in those 2 regards, but still day pictures the G2 slaughtered it.

Thats wonderful when you KNOW your going to need to take good pictures. Carrying a DSLR around on my bike or with me 24/7 isn't exactly an enticing option
That said the camera is one of the lower priorities to me as well, but still, it is important to most.

In Amazon. Galaxy S3 has more and better features that N5 for 300€ new and free.
Hardware? Speed difference is unnoticeable. Android last version? Good for geeks, never a big deal.

Weird cause the guy at work who has a 5s just told me, "wow that screen is amazing, it's way better than my iPhone! "

Believe me, its not. The colors on the iphone display is so deep and accurate, you can actually see in the video.

You cannot judge a display's accuracy based on a video. Your response are pointless.

the wallpaper may be partly to blame for that .. if you skip into the video to the websites the colours are very similar ... i will say the Nexus 5 screen looks slightly washed out .. but imo its a really nice display , super sharp and im much happier with these colours than the N4 ones.

Accuracy is measurable, we will have to wait for anandtech to be sure.

Yours as well. I have actually held the iphone 5s yesterday alongside to the N5. The iphone displays blows the N5 out of the water.

Ya...looking at video *in* a video to deduce clarity and accuracy is ridiculous. Put them next to each other for yourself at the same brightness levels if you want to have a valid critique.
I've put it next to the Galaxy S4, iPhone 5S, and HTC One and played the same exact video file using the same application (with the exception of the iPhone, since it cannot run MX Player), and the screen on the Nexus was arguably the best of the bunch. Coworkers of mine agreed with that assessment.
You held it? Did you do an actual test? Did you make sure both had the same content on the screen? Did you verify all reference levels?
I'm actually baffled why iPhone users constantly find the need to compare their screens to other devices. The screens aren't even in the same category anymore. Most Android phones are much larger than 4 inches these days.

Blows it out the water? really ? I dont agree, but you are entitled to your opinion
This is really interesting, as it goes against a lot of what we've seen in leaks and early benchmarks. Since I'm about to receive my Nexus 5 in the next few hours I'm not complaining, obviously, but I'm just wondering if there's anything off about the test.
Could the fact that the Nexus 5 was brand new and just booted give it some sort of advantage over the iPhone 5s that, I'm assuming, has been used, loaded with apps, etc?
Bottom line I'm really happy about these results, finally shows off how silly and biased benchmarks are in comparison to real life usage. Also kudos to Apple for managing to create a dual core CPU that runs almost as fast as a quad core one. I wonder how it would have preformed had it been a quad core as well..

My 5s probably has about 5-6 more downloaded apps on it than my nexus 5 ... Not much difference there

Funny I always hear similar terms used to describe apple products without any meaning.
I can see why you would think a 1080p 5" screen is blown out of the water by a 600p 4" screen.
at the end of the day, iOS7 is a hot mess and i'd pick android every single time
couldn't be more glad to have recently switched from an iPhone 4s to Nexus 5

It wouldn't fit into a smartphone power envelope if it was a quad-core.

How so? Isn't it running at a lower core speed than the Snapdragon?
