Sorry i meant best buy. I normally buy my phones from best buy off contract because they give us the highest value for our phones. Currently the GS3 is worth 360$ plus 50 gift card sign up promotion they normally do in January plus an additional 50$ gift card for their trade in if you have their protection for a total of 460$ last i have them price match sprint which is 550$ meaning i only have to pay 90$ plus tax. anyone go this route? or simply upgrading?
My local best buy said 230 for s3 in new condition and 699.99 for the HTC and they will not price match for contract phones even tho I'm paying retail. How did you pull that deal?

Wait... what? If you're paying unsubsidized price for a phone, that's not considered a contract phone. You should show them their own policy.

I don't think ANY phones via trade-in will surpass the amount that you can get for them selling them individually. Best Buy provides that as a service to customers -- not so people can make money off trading phones in. I would strongly suggest just selling the S3 and buying the phone from Best Buy with the money that you obtain from the sale.

I've gone to 3 stores in person and they all said it will be a month or so before they will sell the phone at retail price.

You might try asking after the 19th as well, as I know I was told they can't price match during pre-order. But once it's released for sure, they might be able to.

Its 340 not 360 my apologies. Heres a screen shot of the worth of the sprint gs3. But I have doing this since the 1st evo and have never had issues and is always able to get the latest and greatest. Plus my 2 my 50$ gift cards. 1 from a promotion they do in January. The second from having their protection plan and upgrading.

Thats not true. best buy is hurting because now they even price match amazon.com which they NEVER used to do. I dont know who you guys spoke to but its not true. i have receipts to show the last 2 years. i have had the EVO 4G, EVO 3D, Epic 4G touch black and white. EVO LTE, GS3 IN WHITE, THEN OPTIMUS G, GALAXY NOTE 2 THEN BACK TO THE GS3 IN PEBBLE BLUE. So trust me when i say its true. Call a store in atlanta and they will tell you the same. Im actually considering just using my upgrade and getting the additional 200$ on a gift card.

I'm not 100% sure but I remeber reading on the best buy price match policy that since they are now price matching online retailers one of the exclusions was mobile phones. Not sure if this was only for contract phones or all in general.

i would not suggest that as buying it out that early is quite expensive. if your within 2 months of your upgrade i believe its only 50$ and they add it to your bill no up front cost.

I'm not sure about price matching amazon's mobile phone but i know they will do sprints. what they will do is go on sprints website check the retail price and take it from there

now that i didnt know i used to have the white till i traded it for the optimus G. i think its because the blue is less common than the white. im the only one i know that has the blue. i know at least 15 people with gs3s maybe more and all of them have the white.
Yeah, I checked all the carriers s3's and they are all around 220-260. Only the Blue sprint model is that high

No differences. T-Mobile just loves to rip people off...
If you need some assurance, look at the tech specs page for the device. T-Mobile uses the 1700mhz and 2100mhz frequencies for 4g

Excuse me, but where is your evidence that this is what's happening? How do you know Google is selling T-Mobile the phones cheaply enough that they could afford to sell them for the Play Store price?

Or maybe one doesn't have enough cash upfront for the whole $350 so they spend $250 ($199 after mail-in rebate) on the phone? Exactly. I have the money and I am on a single plan myself. However, I refuse to eat the upfront cost when I plan on staying with T-Mo anyway and I don't see value in the value plan at all. I planned on getting it from the Play store But unfortunately I have a 7 month old who needs Christmas things and a 9yr old who made straight A's. That extra money can make or break it for a kid. I can get her a Nexus 7 with that extra hundred and change I am saving upfront. See what I mean? Not singling you out but I notice people seem to write off everyone as being "financially endowed" on here kinda. lol. I work for Google (part time and non-Android related) here in Atlanta and even I get NO perks. lol
So People like me don't mind the $250 cost from T-Mo. I am sure that's the case with a LOT of Americans on T-Mo. You have to prioritize yet still get what you want and work hard for. Play Store is a luxury if you can do it and I planned on it. But some folks can't do it.

It makes no sense to pay 1.5 times for the same phone. Upfront or per month payment. Money is money.
Simple math: Assuming you are on classic plan
500 mins 2 gb data costs 59$
For value plan where you dont get subsidised phone its 44$ for the exact same plan.
15$ per month extra is 15*24months = 360$
So you end up paying 200 +360 = 560 for a 350$ phone. Infact if you are on value plan Nexus 7 will be free as you have 210$ to buy it.
We often neglect 15$ per month extra as we tend to see 350$ as a huge amount.

Tmonews, android police, and Google are my sources. All these sites say that the T-Mobile one won't be tampered with, being the same as the play store one. Again, look at the tech specs of the device on the play store. It clearly is pentaband, and it lists the frequencies. T-Mobile uses the aws band for their 4g, which is 1700/2100

So I've just received a email saying my order was canceled because it was listed at the wrong price.
You can still get the 25% off price by calling your local best buy and order over the phone, ask them to match t-mobiles' price.
I just ordered and picked my galaxy gear for $280.73 with a 2 year geeksquad warranty.

i checked for a best buy near me who had the galaxy gear in stock an ordered from them.
i called the best buy in newnan georgia.
i asked what i needed to give her in order to do the price match, she told me to bring a copy of my order checkout from t-mobile.
they rep i spoke to said they do price matches from major carriers; and i asked if they matched t-mobile.com price, which she did.

I had Best Buy price match last week. I have Verizon so i couldnt use it until yesterday anyways. I tossed it on eBay for 400 bucks for giggles. And sure enough it sold within a day. So I just had Best Buy price match a second one yesterday Made the 2nd one nearly free when factoring in the profit. :good:

My best buy still honored tmoble price match. Just got watch about an hour ago. Talked to manager straight off the bat and asked if they had watch. When he said yes I asked for price match and handed him tmoble price I printed off a few days ago. He said he's not suppose to but doesn't really care and he gave me the price. The foursquare app gives you 30% accessories when you check in at certain tmobile stores. The Gear qualifies as an accessory. Try that if no luck at BB.

So, I have a best buy junk out coming up for my One. This should be happening in the next week or so.
I was told I can get any phone in store that is of equal or lesser value, then get the difference in store credit if lower. So, do I get the Nexus 5 32 gig and take the $250.00ish store credit?? I'm kind of leaning that way, but I have been an HTC fanboi for so damn long that I'm a-scurred! lol

what makes you think the camera quality will be worse. Aside from low-light, i don't think the one camera is all that good. Software is pretty good though.

From what I read earlier, Sprint will be offering the Nexus 5 for $199 w/ $50 MIR with contract or you can buy it form them for MORE than what you'd pay if you bought directly from Google... Somewhere around $550. If you're taking the contract route it's cheaper, but you get screwed if you buy it from them. I just purchased my Nexus 5 32GB for $438 and may, or may not, be switching to T-Mobile cause I guess I roamed too much?
I'll stay with the ONE and wait for the M8.

I use my one for everything and it has yet to let me down. Sometimes pictures could be better but the way I look at it, it's a smart phone, not a digital camera. If I want high quality digital photos then I should probably use one of those. What does impress me about the camera though is how good the low light photos turn out. Unmatched. The other thing I feel can't be beat is the front speaker sound quality. Front speakers do make a huge difference! Beats with viper4android makes this phone sound awesome! I've yet to hear a handheld device sound better. Until another phone manufacturer comes out with front facing stereo speakers that sound at least as good as these I'll be sticking with the one series.

Not sure how reliable this is, but in an online chat with Staples yesterday, I was told they would be selling it also. No word on pricing, but I will probably get one when they get in stock (company account at Staples = easier to justify and write off). For the time being, I plan on getting a TMOB prepaid SIM and using it as a second phone line. If I like it enough, it may replace my One.

They did the same thing with the HTC One, $200.00 over regular off contract price, but I just walked in and said I need a price match to Amazon.com and they said "ok no problem"

So I think I'm correct that the phone would work on Sprint (duh), T-mo, or ATT correct? It should be the same phone that is sold from google correct?
If so, if you have Prime you could get one in two days versus weeks at google. In my area we are charged tax when ($41 according to amazon) directly ordering from Amazon, but if you aren't in such an area you could save tax and shipping so you would only be paying a $15 or so fee to get the Nexus 5 now ($449 vs about $435 from google).

yeah i have my 32gb listed there too for 500
Just get it from craigslist. There are plenty of people selling it at $400 flat for 16gb and $450,for 32gb
Earlier they had no 16gb's and the 32gb was $499. Then the 32gb dropped to $449, now there aren't any. The black 16gb is down to 7 left.
Wonder if they ever actually had any 32gb's or if that was an error. If not, they sold them quick.

I would rather buy for amazon for $449 where it could be returned if need be than craigslist, but then again the $449 price has come and gone.
Btw, I was just passing the info on for those looking for one, I already have a couple.
I'm just so confused. Why would you pay $100 more for a phone that would be locked to sprint? When you could buy it unlocked for $400....
The only way I would see this as justified would be if you had money to waste lol
Might not be the same as Amazon's sku, but the Nexus 5 at Best Buy is unlocked. Even though it's advertised as a Sprint phone, my T-Mo sim worked out of box. I even got it priced match, took some effort, but no shipping wait.

Don't know, but several people have confirmed that it works with any prepaid carrier.

I got a 415 white one from swappa as well.
It is a Best Buy deal of the day. I just ordered the Black. Given the $29 cost you would have to pay for an extra cradle, you are getting the watch for $70 net.
Best deal I've seen so far and now I have the black and the mocha.

Hard choice between the black and the moca, but I chose the moca. This was the only price, or lower, I was willing to pay since the new one is dropping soon.:good:

Got mine from bestbuy after two days, was pretty quick.
Rooted it, flashed TWRP and null_23 ROM, was able to install Gear Manager on my HTC One, but a few things don't work on it (weather, s voice, notifications...).
Need to play some more.

Best Buy refurb unit died in 24 hours!
