Japan Xperia Z hole next to camera - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

in the japanese version of the Xperia Z there seems to be a somehting next to the camera lens, perhaps a hole is not the right description, but the "hole" looks similar to the proximity sensors on the front of the phone.
does anyone know what this is for? it doesn't seem to be in the international version of the XZ

god i wish the international versions had an IR blaster

Likewise
But we'll see what the ' Sony One' smartphone brings
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2

The International ZL has the IR sensor.. but Z doesn't..
Good to see that Xperia Z (japan) has IR sensor.. though it's not something which we use everyday..
I've read that ZL has default apps which uses infrared which can be used as universal remote...

Just told nonsense.

Well i bought the NTTDocomo version of the Xperia Z..
1. Screen black is almost same as my brothers Xperia Z from uk BUT whites in NTT Z is much better form the uk one.
2. The IR is only to transfer files and there is no app or any endication in the menu that u can use it to control ur tv etc, i tried and installed an app from google play but failed ... Maybe in coming update they will add it ? dono !!

Nttdocomo xs
Here is a photo
Xperia Z NTTD.

Japanese people have been using infrared to send small data such as contacts for such a long time and is always most popular way. That's why you will see most of japanese phones have IR. HTC Butterfly (Droid DNA) in Japan also has IR.

is it a cost thing or do they believe there TFT Displays are better?
Maybe because HTC doesnt want them using their displays even though Sony makes them. Thats my guess but really I'm not sure.

The Xperia ION's display is stunning, the best Xperia display made by Sony so far.
I think LG makes them. How do you know Sony is behind S-LCD2?
I have both of them.
HTC One X international version and XPERIA TX.
Photos and videos looks better on the TX, thanks to BE, and also TX is better on image details.
The only down side of the TX is viewing angles, which is much better on One X.
Yes, it seems like TX has a much better screen than T. Sad !
Read on phonearena that Sony is behind SLCD 3
JAPAN display to be exact

[Q] Body differences of L36H, C6603 and other variants.

hey guys, i am planning to buy a case for my xperia z and i found a pretty good one by Nillkin
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nillkin-Fli...0?pt=PDA_Accessories&var=&hash=item35c465a938
the thing is, that it is listed for the L36H and L36i, so I just want to ask,
will it fit for the C6603? is the body the same for all xperia Zs?
Thanks

Yes, it's the same. The L36x codename was used when rumours of this phone started to surface. It was later changed to C6603/C6602/SO-02E during the official announcement. So they all have the same dimensions.
AFAIK it is the same. I think it's the japanese version, it has IR blaster on the back - and that's probably the only difference ( or a prototype coding ) Wouldn't expect the body to differ - but doesn't hurt to ask the seller.
Sony Logo Placement
I think Xperia Z SO-02E has SONY logo at bottom.
and international version C6603 as logo at top.
Below is a image of SO-02E.

RE: LCD/digitizer Xperia Z Compatibility
Are most of the parts the same? I mean I have a Xperia X C6616 and needing to replace the LCD/digitizer. I'm just wondering if the other LCDs/digitizer from different model of Xperia Z are compatible to each other or are they all the same? Can someone clarify this.....
Thanks.
Xperia Body types
Hi guys
This may seem like a stupid question. I have recently got into the business of repairing phone screens.
I want to fix a Sony Xperia Z screen, however I do not know how to tell what body type it is (l36h, ect).
I'd like to know how do I tell which is which. I want to order parts but I want to be sure that I am buying the right one.
Please help.
Thanks
Modise
Hi Modise,
In case the display and the digitizer work then you can get the model number from the service menu:
Start dialer and press *#*#service#*#*
link
In case you cannot use service menu then try to use flashtool, it displays the phone type it is connected to.

I prefer Bravia OFF, colors seem more natural. Also it seems Bravia engine applies a sharpening filter, which produces an ugly effect on the tulip fields shot.
This is not BE ON VS OFF, those devices don't even have comparable screen panel.

@maxboy:
You just need to turn on BE, take a screenshot of the picture. Then you turn off BE, and take another screenshot of the same picture. Compare it.

I think what maxboy meant was that the S3 and XT dont have the same screen. S3 has a much more responsive and vivid super AMOLED as in Organic LED, while the XT has simple TFT LCD. The XT makes up for this screen quality by the higher PPI and Bravia Engine itself.

I was comparing the images in the OP's dropbox folder, which are supposed to be from the same device.
Can't compare
Dude you can"t compare that, the Xperia T and the S3 have different screens, take a photo with and without BE on the Xperia if you want to show this to us.
Isn't that exactly what he did? Check the dropbox link.

First: posting questions in general section is against rules.
Second: those effects are only available at the rear camera

[Q] Style Cover for Z3C

Really interested in this lovely phone and looking to finally replace my GSII which I've been owning for the past three years. Does anyone know whether a similar style cover SCR24 announced for Z3 will be available for Z3C at all? That cover looks very neat.

Best thing would be to contact Sony directly, the phones have been officially announced yesterday, so I doubt anyone would be able to answer your question right now.
Yes. The Style-Up Cover SCR26 is for Z3 Compact

Actually I had seen that. I was skeptical about it as sonymobile website does not mention it at all while SCR24 is mentioned specifically for Z3.

I don't think the SCR26 is fake. Because there is another site too, it's called Netshop and is a Norwegian site, I actually have ordered from there earlier.
But only time will see if the cover for Z3C is real

Yes, I believe the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will have a similar "Style Cover" case like the one already announced for the bigger Z3.
It makes an appearance in one of the Xperia promotional videos from Sony
