My friend told me that at radioshack they are giving away $50 google play credits with the purchase of an htc one. I have been unable to confirm this myself through the internet. Can anyone tell me if you can, and would it be worth it to buy through radioshack? I am a sprint customer whos 2 year agreement ended and now I am eligible for an upgrade.
Yes they do I work for RadioShack
That's where I got my phone. Just use the code on the receipt in the Google play menu redeem.

Nice, thanks, do you know of any downside to buying it through radioshack? It would be really cool to get that play store credit, but if there's some secret warranty that I don't get when purchased through radioshack, I may have to think this over and decide which is more important to me.
Also, would I have to pay the $36 activation fee as well to be able to activate it? I know if you buy it from the sprint online store it is free.
I was put on a call back list about this but never got a call back. Might just do this tomorrow

Radioshack is generally better to go through. I see no negatives. Unless your prone to lose your phone. Which.. I don't see how you can be that irresponsible. Lol. Radioshack is better. I also work there and am just waiting for the Black one to become available
Shifted from the bottom of the rabbit hole
The black one is only available through D2U. Has to be shipped. I don't even know if sprint will get it in stores. And just call sprint they may wave the activation fee.

Quick question to my fellow radioshack employees. Now, how are you guys getting the phone? Off contract or with an employee line? I have the GS3 thru the sprint employee line, and i was wondering about how i could get the One over at At&t's employee line.
You'd have to ask your rep.. I got mine though a normal consumer line. So yes I paid $200 but got the Google play credit

Maybe a Shack employee can answer...since the usual 'Find in a store near you' function on the site doesn't appear to be available for these, if I call or visit a store are you able to view store stock at nearby locations? I know you can on other items, but wondered about these specifically.

Yes. Any store can use something called the product portal to find where a device is. The stores can also ship devices between stores at no charge to you.

I have 2 lines. One is a sprint employee and one is a government discount account. Both sprint. I used to date about 50g of data (screen shots to prove it) so I can't go to any other carrier unless I want to be throttled or charged big money. Lol
Shifted from the bottom of the rabbit hole
Great, I was hoping that was the case but just wanted to verify. Hmm, now I have to drive to a few storse AND see how much they're going to charge me for an outright purchase...
Thanks everyone, can anyone confirm I will be able to waive the $36 activation fee through this? If so, how should I go about talking to the sprint support to have them waive it, what to say, etc.?

So, I was doing some shopping at my local Costco yesterday and noticed an HTC One demo at the Wireless kiosk, they were listed as $159.99 on contract, came with a HUGE accessory pack, had a 90 DAY return policy, and after some prying I was told that they have 7 white and 6 black :victory: IN STOCK, so I am thinking of getting mine there.
What I am asking for are your experiences with the Costco Wireless kiosk's (activation, purchase, returns, etc.), because it just seems to good to be true.:fingers-crossed: Thanks in advance.

Return period as far as upgrade reversal like it never happened is determined by Sprint at 14days purchase date is day one. Costco may allow exchange within 90 days but not full return and reversal.
When I ran a Sams club mobile we had pretty much same policies. Also it's been my experience in the most places like that the associates aren't as knowledgeable as they should be. So just be careful and ask lots n lots of questions.

yeah not much diff than walmart mobile lol. thats what i hate about the cellular people getting hourly instead of commission. on hourly they have no incentive to learn anything. just stand there and take an order. "would you like fries with that?" i feel like commission makes the rep want to know more than the "other guy." also commission makes it more likely to get better service from the rep bc if they treat u badly u return it and they lose their commission. however quite a few commission paid sales people ruin it for everyone else by f'in people. all in all ASK QUESTIONS & DO RESEARCH its a 2 yr commitment and a fairly large purchase.
Just read today that on 7/19 sprint will be doing BOGO on Galaxy S3 and S4.
Offer valid on new accounts and upgrade eligible lines. So you buy one S4 at regular price and get a second one Free!

I am sure amazon and every other retailer on line will smash that deal, they will would probably offer it for 100 or so.
Same with the htc one, sprint dropped the price to 200, and amazon has it for 50 dollars now..
That great

Yea but sprint doesn't compete with online retailers. Most companies can't.
And the HTC one has always been 200 since the day it was released.
But there are ways a new customer can get an HTC one or S4 completely free.

Best buy always has various great deals the one for the HTC One is good right now. $99 for the One trade in your old phone and put the amount toward the One and get a $50 gift card for Best Buy. The S4 had a deal a week ago. I will never buy from anywhere but Best Buy from now on and the last place would be from Sprint. They screw me over on my data enough I don't need there ridiculous prices and activation fees and about 1/3 the price for trading in your phone as Best Buy.

What makes you think you don't get charged activation/upgrade fees from Best Buy? Read the contract.
A Sprint store would offer discounts on accessories with a phone purchase, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store will take the time to educate the customer on their new phone, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store will assist the customer with applying or re-validating their discount, Best Buy does not.
A Sprint store has access National Sales Support (NSS) to resolve complicated issues, Best Buy does not.
1/3 the price on Buy Back? Where do you get that info from? Sure, Best Buy MAY give you a little more for your phone than a Sprint store will, but we're talking maybe $20 tops. Sprint follows a national AVERAGE for Buyback value on phones.
Sprint stores can also offer different credits and discounts to beat Best Buy prices, such as the $100 port-in credit, or the ability to get $100 off any phone if you sign up for Sprint's Home Phone Connect service. I had a customer the other day who walked out with a FREE Galaxy S4 and free accessories... he had an iPhone 5 from Verizon and cancelled his Verizon contract. He got $100 for keeping his Verizon number, and another $100 for signing up for the Phone Connect... so that's a free S4 right there. Then he traded in his iPhone 5 for a $245 credit and used that money to buy a bunch of stuff for his new phone. Total out the door cost = FREE.
Best Buy can't match everything we do, as Sprint corporate won't allow it.
Hey Ryan, do you think you could explain how this deal works? Do we need two valid upgrade lines or can I walk in the store with my upgrade and walk out with two s4's?

Yes, you need two VALID lines. You must meet 1 of these 3 qualifications:
1) Be a new customer activating at least 2 new lines of service.
2) Be an upgrade eligible customer upgrading at least 2 new lines of service.
3) Be an upgrade eligible customer upgrading at least 1 line of service and adding at least 1 new line.
Any of those scenarios will qualify you for the BOGO offer.

Hmm..this sounds like a cool deal. I switched my line from ATT about 2 days ago. I was gonna wait till next month to switch my wife's line over to Sprint. But if they would let me get a free S4 for her considering I just started service a couple days ago, that'll be great. But I doubt they will go for it...but I'll definitely call and try to get this deal next week when its made public...

Won't work. When the store processes the phone in SNAP, your line would be a service when it has to be a new or upgrade. So even IF the store personnel didn't know what they were doing and gave you the in-store credit, Sprint themselves would not pay the store back for the credit because the BOGO offer was done wrong.
The only way you can do this is if you add TWO more lines of service. Then just give the 3rd S4 to someone else or something.

Buddy you got all the wrong information. I work for Best Buy Mobile, and we do all of that.
Buy any case upto 24.99 get a zaggshield HD or car charger for only $10. OR all 3 for just $50
Buy any case upto 34.99 get a Zaggsheild HD or car charger for only $10 Or all 3 for $60
We price match accessories to any online or store retailer, including the $50 Otterbox's for $25 that are on sale at Amazon. And most of the time if you ask if you can give a discount on a case or charger, mobile manager or sales leads can give you a "customer satisfaction" discount.
I don't think any carrier store spends as much time with a single customer as we do at BBYM. We do not work on commission and don't rush you out of the store to get to the next customer to make money off of them and rush them out. There have been times where I have had older customers come into the store and I've spend an hour with them just educating them about the technology, finding out what their needs are, what they plan on using the phones for, and all of the different pricing options, plans etc. then another hour setting the phones up for them, google, corporate email accounts, apps, showing them how to work it and etc.
True we can't do the $100 credit for new service/bringing your number from another carrier, but Our system we use does allow us to search for corporate discounts to apply to the customers account.
And we do have NSS access to Sales Support for issues that may come up, and trust me, Sprint is the one that usually has the most issues with phones not wanting to update and activate and prl and profile updates not going through, also we have our Sprint Account Manager just a phone call away if there are issues that need immediate attention that calling NSS can't resolve as far as phones not activating due to still being on another account or Bad ESN's that need to be taken care of to reactivate for the customer.
As far as our protection plan, the best in the industry, $9.99 a month (a dollar cheaper than Sprint) with $0 deductible and UNLIMITED Claims. Although we do not cover loss of theft, but then that's why we have zero deductible and unlimited claims. As long as you have your phone, whatever is wrong with it, (cracked, broken, dropped in toilet, charger, battery, charge port) we'll take care of it. As for Iphones go, we now even replace the glass In Store. And if you have our Geek Squad Protection you automatically get our Trade-In Plus for free, and that will give you an additional $50 on top the trade in value of the phone.

I'm going on information I have on hand, where I live our Best Buy sucks and I've been told that by customers many times. People tell me it's just like RadioShack, where yea they'll sell you a phone and if you're lucky they'll transfer contacts for it, but that's it. And the reason is BECAUSE you don't work on commission... a LOT of salespeople have no motivation to go the extra mile. They make a base pay and that's it. If they deal with 20+ customers a day, each one ending with the same result, then where's the drive to be the best? If you can't LOSE money as a sales rep, then you shouldn't call yourself a salesman IMHO. In that case you're just a customer service guy.
People have commission all wrong and it cracks me up when I see the Best Buy commercials that say you guys don't work on commission. Commission is what motivates salesmen to do a good job. Say a customer comes in my store and buys 4 new phones and I make $100 off that single transaction... it's my JOB to make sure they're 100% satisfied, because if they're not they have every right to return those phones and then I lose the commission, so now I just wasted time AND lost money because I half ass job. A typical single line upgrade will last about 45 minutes with us. We don't rush, and if we have customers waiting we simply set the expectations, tell them how long we'll be, and invite them to come back later so they don't have to wait. We go over ever aching detail from contact, picture, video, email, ringtone transfers to customer education. Then afterwards, the customer gets a CSAT call where they get to rate us. If our CSAT score is too low, we lose even more money off our commission. So once again, the result is that if you're dealing with a salesman who's pay and lively hood is directly effected by your (the customer's) level of satisfaction, then why do people assume commission-based salesmen don't do their job? Makes no sense.
But I digress.. Don't get me wrong bud, I am certainly NOT saying you do a bad job. If your particular Best Buy is a good one, and you in particular do an awesome job in phone sales, then that's great. I'm simply saying ours is not a good store, and the people there don't really give a crap.
Also, our accessory deals are pretty good. We do almost the same thing as you... buy any case for $29.99 or less and we'll bundle screen protectors and a car charger for a flat $40. We simply don't offer Zagg's because we don't believe in wet application screen protectors. OtterBox's are a big seller for us, and if you buy a Defender you don't need a Zagg anyway. We can't really match Amazon pricing for OtterBox because we're a preferred retailer, but we'll take a Defender down to $39.99 if we have too and still make a bundle deal.

If you port your number to Sprint from a different carrier you will get $100 in-store credit. If you sign up for the Home Phone Connect on top of that you'll get another $100 in-store credit. That means you can get an S4 for only $50 in store, but then you get a $50 mail-in rebate. So after everything is said and done, you get a free GS4.

This woman is telling me I have to sign a new 2 year contract!!!! I'm like BULL why would I sign a new contract and prolong my upgrade when I'm paying full price for the phone!!!!!!! Does this make sense to anyone? I just told her bull that I'll wait till it comes to the Sprint store cuz you are WRONG THERE IS NO WAY, I'm signing a 2 yr contract paying full price for the phone, it makes NO SENSE! Or is this something new?

No that is completely wrong. I bought the phone outright and do not have to renew my contract. If that was the case you would get the phone for the renew price of 249.00. Just go on sprint.com and order it there. Takes 2 days to ship to you.
I dont know how the hell sprint hires so uninformed people. Call back and get in touch with a representative that knows and tell them that you want to buy the phone outright and don't want to upgrade your contract. I would check back once u get your phone to see that your contract didn't change on sprint.com because if happened to me once. U can buy it outright, just need to talk to a sprint rep who knows what she/he is doing and what u r asking for.
Telesales is in the Philippines. They are using computer scripts to help customers and it basically turns them into robots.
Actually I just got one on eBay for $625 so I'll save $75 anyways. Screw those telesales people.

I had trouble too with my order. I first tried to order online but I kept getting an error and a popup message said to call telesales. The rep tried to tell me that I couldn't buy the phone outright because I have a Framily plan and that I could only make the order in person at a store. I made her connect me to her supervisor. Supervisor said that until the phone is physically available at the Sprint stores, the ONLY way to order it was ONLINE, not in person, or over the phone. I then tried again online and it finally went through. :good:
Unless they changed it they do give you a discount after 1 year but it is only $75 off so that might be what they were doing.

they changed that, don't get that option anymore
**Warning** Kind of a long read but I'm curious to other peoples thoughts.
Wanted to share my experience today. I went into a Corporate AT&T store planning on upgrading to a 32GB MB Nexus 6 on the Next program. I'm good with it being carrier locked and I'll just remove the AT&T bloatware. I was excited that they had them in stock, however I noticed that the retail price was for $682.99 instead of $649 like Google has it for. I asked the rep and he was surprised and looked it up. I told him that other carriers were selling it for $649 also, and he verified it but couldn't explain it and mentioned that they can't match it either. I asked why do I want to pay like $30 more for it to be carrier locked and have bloatware installed (okay with it but not gonna pay for it).
At home, I called 611 to see if they would match it and see if they knew why. The first rep basically said that was the way it was and didn't really seem interested. The second time I called (I know now maybe I'm crazy but didn't think its right), I asked for their loyalty department cause I know they have more power. The guy there said he was being told that its not ATT but the Manufacture that is dictating the price. I told him that Motorola has it for $649 on their website and it doesn't make sense that they are letting everyone else sell it for one price and making AT&T sell it higher. Told them that I may change carriers if AT&T thinks that its good business practice to charge more then everyone else.
I want to point out that:
1. I was never rude or demanded anything. Just told them that I hope it gets pushed up and corrected.
2. Realize that this is a first world problem and I could just go purchase it from Google or somewhere else but I feel its the principle. Its not right to charge like $30 more and add to the fact that I would have paid higher taxes.
3. They still ended up not matching the price but did offer me a $50 discount off the contract price but told them I didn't want a contract.
The extra cost is for the high quality paint used for the death star logo on the back. (The one that comes off if you stare at it hard enough.)
Actually, I didn't mind the extra 30 for one simple reason: it didn't require waiting 6 to 20 weeks for moto to get stock and ship.

Ha on the paint. I'm still torn. Almost talked myself into going back and just pay for it.
You know what? I just bought a Nexus 6 from AT&T web ordering and I knew it was $30 more than everyone else, but you know what?! AT&T has them in stock and nobody else does!! Get over it. If you don't like it wait until Google has them on their site and then wait some more until they really have it and can send it to you! I had no problem getting mine from AT&T and I really didn't care that it has their logo on it!

Do you going to leave a service because they charge 30 bucks for a device no one got in stock? Sound like a great business strategy for me... They know they can provide it today while others can in weeks. I will advice you go back
Appreciate the feed back. I realize that's it only like 30 bucks but there is also the added cost of paying taxes on 682 instead of 649. Not outrageous but still there. I doubt they are charging higher because they know they have them in stock. Especially when they are late to the game. They had to send their initial batch back. I wonder if this is fair to be who don't realize they are paying more. I noticed the price difference and accept the added cost, I'm okay with it but it's not fair to an unsuspecting customer.
Complain about it on at&t's Facebook page. The first person that contacts you probably won't be alot of help. They will eventually have someone else contact you. This person can help you. They gave me a $100 bill credit. I could have paid the balance of $582.99 plus tax but I chose to do the next 12 plan. So I paid $682.99 in order to do next and the $100 came off my monthly bill.
Well to update. I ended up going back and getting it. Really wanted to check it out and decided it was worth to walk out with it now. I hope its corrected still though. Now to run it through its paces before the 14 days are up. Like it so far. It is my first nexus device.
Mine was 249.99 with the 2 year contract.
$249.99 + $25 per month extra for 24 months = $849.99 + tax and upgrade / activation fees.
Best buy has the at&t n6 for 649 but the sprint n6 is 699 dosent make sense
