I picked up two HTC One devices today as soon as the Sprint Store opened. I have as of yet not be able to download any previously purchased paid applications.
This includes several rather expensive EA games, that just say "Not Compatible with your Device" which doesn't even allow me to download to my device. (Mass Effect Infiltrator and Need for Speed shift come to mind first)
All other paid apps seem to download, but fail to install. (such as Weatherbug Elite and Minecraft Pocket Edition) I've tried from phone, as well as the Google Play website on my PC.
I'm in the US, on Sprint. Tried both WIFI and 3g.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, did you find a solution?
Thank you in advance.
For the ones that say not compatible: wait until compatibility is added. I've come across the same multiple times and some never gained compatibility with my device. That is on the app developer, not the app store
For the other issues, go to settings>apps>all
Delete cache and data for both Google play store and Google framework services and force stop both. That should fix

Thanks for the quick reply. I did both things you suggested. Once I cleared and force stopped, I had to restart the phone, as I kept getting the "No Connection" error on the Play Store, on both WiFi and Sprint.
Once I rebooted, I attempted to install another paid app, and it again failed. The error is "Couldn't Install on USB storage or SD card." (again I can install any other app that I didn't pay for)
If its important I did root, I'm running TWRP recovery and ViperRom 1.0.
Same problem on stock root Rom. My friend is unrooted and the same apps install fine

You could try installing esfile manager on your old phone that the apps work on and backing up the apps to the sd card then copy the backed up apk to the HTC one to install it might not work but I have done this many of times with my EVO 3d ans my touch pad

same here..early this evening before root my apps installed fine..but now after root those same apps will not install..Free versions do install..Im on the stock rooted deodexed rom

That's on deodexed roms only. It may be a permissions issue. The apks themselves install fine from your sdcard if you have them.

The current idea is this:
Downloading paid apps requires writing a temp file to mnt/.asec/
But the issue is, mnt is read only.
It should be fixed in no time. Vipers the man.

It's not always a temp file. In the case of Swiftkey the actual apk is in mnt/. Asec. I was able to pull it from my dna and install from my card.

After flashing back my backup Sprint ROM, I am able again to install my paid apps. Thank God I did a backup before installing another ROM. I will miss the tweaks on Vipers ROM though.
It will get fixed

Ran into above problem while updating an app on market. I clearly have more than enough space with 126mb free in internal storage and 4.18gb free on sd card. App is 16mb. Googled several solutions but nothing works.
clearing cache/dalvik cache
dismounting sd card before applying update
in adb:
chown system.system /data/app
chmod 0771 /data/app
I'm running cm6.1.2 port for milestone by nadlabak, with memhack installed. Trying not to do an uninstall/install cause there's some data I want to keep. Please help!
Maybe you try to download an apk too big? Try with another app smaller..
If this is from the true market, I believe you can update the app using market.android.com and trying to see if their servers will have an easier time then what you have tried
Good Luck

Google maps is bigger and has updated fine. I doubt a lack of storage is the real issue here...

I tried the methods listed because android market failed to update the app. No problems downloading the app, but installation fails. It's not a corrupted apk either because I've tried downloading over wifi several times.
So I think I may have found the problem memhack looks like it is screwing everything up because you have 2.2 take a look here

Can you say what is the app? For any app I've the same problem (like quickpic)..
Don't wait... get the new Market on your Zio NOW!!!
Google Market now offers books and streaming movie rentals with a completely new theme. It is working fine with the openZio rom. The movie rentals will not stream while rooted, but you can use Universal Androot to unroot watch a movie, then reroot when your done watching the movie. There may be some issues with Titanium Backup and market links.
<Edit> titanium backup now supports the new version of market
Thanks, nice find... now for a rom that runs with less memory and is faster.

The only thing I'm still dealing with since this market update, is not being able to erase Market Search History. I've tried all the apps that worked before the update but now none of em work. Search history list is just growin. I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin.
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
This will clear your Market History.
Clear market cache and force stop market
(Settings >Applications>Manage Applications
select Market then hit Clear cache and Force stop)
Use Root Explorer and delete
"/data/data/com.android.vending/databases/suggestions.db"
Negative! I pressed, settings -applications- manage applications- all applications- market, and the cache was already 0, forced stopped, home. Then market, magnifying glass (search), and WHAM- big o list of search history. I'm not "rooted" (shouldn't have to be to clear search history). Id try the root thing but I don't know how.
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND WHY MARKET SEARCH HISTORY ERASER'S DONT WORK SINCE THE MKT UPDATE! Am I the only one......
Now I'm so broke i can't even pay attention!
I think that its time for you to save some money and start paying attention
You can't use root explorer until you root your phone because its an app for rooted phones only.
1. Get the Universal ANDroot app v1.6.2 beta 5: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598
2. Go to the android market and download Astro file manager (free version).
3. Copy and paste the Universal ANDroot apk to the root directory of your sd card (not inside other folders) via your usb cable.
4. In Astro manager, browse for the ANDroot apk and choose 'install.' If 'unknown sources' and USB debugging are unchecked then Astro will prompt you to enable them.
You can do it manually by going to /settings/applications/unknown sources and then to /settings/applications/development/USB debugging.
5. Once the installation begins, choose 'hard root' which is for the long term. Soft root temporarily roots your phone meaning that your phone will become unrooted after a reboot.
6. After rooting successfully, you will be given 'superuser' privileges. Apps that are for rooted phones will ask for permission to install and function.
7. Once your done rooting, deselect 'unknown sources' in settings. You don't need that feature enabled anymore for security precautions. Unknown sources allows the installation of non-market apps. First know what you download.
Finished! You can unroot your phone by using the ANDroot app and to unroot.
Where did he say he wasn't rooted? I must've missed that somewhere.
XD
BTW: Titanium Backup is now fully supporting the new market.

I am sorry if I was not clear. You have to clear the cache, force stop, then delete the file. You have to be rooted to do this.
You can also wait for history cleaner to be updated to support market again

Hi there,
yesterday I had to manually update Adobe Flash for using it along Opera Browser since for stine reason it wasn't working with the stock Flash player included in the system.
Surprisingly Market was showing it as an update when I searched for it, but it wasn't notifying me for the update for some reason, and the same happens for SuperUser, when I search for it its shown like an update, but it isn't notified as one.
Its there any way to force Market to update the apps contained in /system?

That's the problem, apps like Adobe Flash or SuperUser aren't listed in the "My Apps" section of Market and until I do manually search for those apps I don't know if there are updates or not.

Its possible, then apply advice from above post.
If still will not work, then you have to go to each app individually.
For example, whn you will manually go to superuser on market, you shall still see options 9if no update is available): Open, uninstalll, and below: allow automated updates.

If these apps are not listed in "My Apps" you have to install them one time manually from the android market than they will be there in "My Apps" and you will get the update notifications..
If you install apps from other sources and not via market, they wont get listed in "My Apps" and you wont get update-notifications..
LOL I'm the opposite of OP right now. All my apps that are waiting to be upgraded would be infected with Airpush spam if I decided to upgrade them in the market...

I recently uninstalled my Play Store due to most applications not showing and whenever i search for them it says device is not compatible.
So I uninstalled using sd maid since it is a system app and my fone is rooted.I tried to install a downloadable apk file of play store but to no luck, it always force closes at app launch.
Every version of play store i installed are all the same, force closes at application launch.I also found out that vending.apk or skyphone.apk (whatever you call that) together with its. .odex counterpart is missing.
Any help would be pretty much appreciated.

This post may not be in the right place but im hoping that my fellow n7000 users can help in this problem of mine to prevent any app-device mismatch issues. Thank you very much.
Download the rom you are on. extract and find a factoryfs image. open it up with Linux reader or similar app. You will see all the files you want.
to extract the. img file you need to search a bit on the net

There's usually a fixable reason play store reads your device as incompatible also, usually due to custom dpi's outside of the accepted few. There are market fixers that can correct this, as well as correcting dpi's.

If you have issues with the above recs you may choose to ref lash the rom

I can't update or download from playstore and I've got plenty space. I get insufficient storage available.
I've read about a folder dev/logs but this folder is almost empty on my phone and data/logs I've read about isn't on my phone. I've tried to erase apps, delete play store cache and data but nothing. After a restart it seems I can DL 1 thing then that's it.
Tried a bunch of stuff so far and nothing.
