read the manual
You don't have to, it's automatic. It just picks the best available network.

Settings -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Network mode -> LTE (preferred)
That's the only option available (it will connect in LTE when available)

I don't think that you are able to access that menu. The selection is done automatically as mentioned above. You can however check what bands are supported by your phone by going into the dialer and then dialling: *#*#SERVICE#*#*
and pressing on "configuration"

Is your XZ C6602 or C6603? C6602 doesn't provide LTE support.

Sometimes you have to ask your mobile provider to enable LTE access. I had to call em before it worked. Just switching to LTE preferred will be enough.

You need a correct lte sim card provided by your carrier.
Your plan must support lte data.
Your apn settings have to be correct lte settings.
So I took a screenshot of my Xperia Z(c6603) of the list of currently available radio bands. I've read somewhere that LTE_BC1 is 2100MHz frequency(which my phone has LTE_BC1,3,5,7 etc) and so by looking at the list my phone is missing that frequency radio band to have LTE enabled. How would I unlock the 2100 MHz radio band frequency so I can enable LTE on my Xperia Z?

Hey Guys,
I have an unlocked lg optimus 2x. I have been using it with att 4g for the past year or so. I just switched to t-mobile prepaid, but I cannot get the 4g to work. I am always on 2G.
What gives? If there is anyone who has this working can you please let me know your baseband, RIL and APN settings? Not sure which will solve my problem

If y our o2x is anything like mine, it probably doesn't have the right radio frequencies to use tmobile's "4g" (actually hspa+). I wrote about this before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26857353
And fwiw, mine is BB1120 with matching ril.
Edit: adding screenshot of my apn settings

Yes, lg does. There is lg Optimus LTE.
But this lg Optimus 2x doesn't.
The t-mobile usa's 4G isn't a true 4G, as I mentioned above.

I can confirm that the O2X doesn't support the radio bands for T-Mobiles HSPA+ (which they dub 4G)
I had a flatrate during my vacation and had to deal with edge all the time ^^
Yup. The phone lacks 1700 frequency to work on T mobile "4G"

Ah son of a gun! I just got on a t-mobile prepaid monthly thing, well that's the end of that. I thought t-mobile had the G2X natively, so they would definitely support HSPA+ on their network. (An epic D'oh moment for me here )
In the usa 4g doesn't refer to the speed its referring to fourth generation wireless technology. Its confusing but as far as speed its more like 3.5g

Open Myself, click on edit button (guy with pen in top right corner), than click on add new, enter your new number and save. After that edit it again and delete old number, save. Another option is factory reset.

Odd that I set phone to pick up only LTE/GSM but I'm always getting 3G W-CDMA when I normally been getting LTE 700. Using latest Chroma, radio and bootloader. Is this normal now or just bugged software/radio with T-Mobile.

Looking at T-mobiles coverage map (where they list band 12 compatible devices) I saw something interesting. It grouped the Nexus 5x, 6, and 6p saying their update is one its way. Maybe this isn't supposed to be a universal image as previously believed? I notice I drop calls over VOLTE which has been frustrating in Detroit where we have a lot of indoor band 12 but otherwise my signal has been LTE since marshmallow

why is that odd? you did pick gsm, and id say that 3G is a gsm signal. you can pick lte only and get just lte.
Because it says W-CDMA when normally it says GSM.

I've searched and can't find an answer.
I'm on a custom ROM 6.0.1_r3, I've flashed the 5.32 radio, the WiFi works fine but I'm getting no Mobile connection. The LTE icon indicates that it's getting a signal. I was having this problem with the previous radio, too.

check to make sure that your APN is 100% accurate. one tiny mistake and it won't work.
Try setting to 3g, then back to LTE.
If that doesn't work, try toggling airplane mode.
If neither of those work, your APN is most likely not setup correctly.

I checked the service under the running apps and it seems that it is triggered by the following : com.samsung.android.sm.widgetservice. Not sure if that helps.

I think the specific one has to do with the smart manager. I had it before as well. The thing is i removed the widget but the issue remains.

Try safe mode with your current setup. it will basiclly prevent all 3rd party apps from running and if you don't get the same drain then its not from samsung but rather from a bad app.
Turn on safe mode
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power key.
- When 'Samsung Galaxy Note5' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
- Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
