Hi all,
I have the Z for a week now and find the call quality not that good as i was expecting...
I have a sort of static on the background that i am hearing when the other person is talking you can hear it realy soft like microfone static or something
Ive tried to set all different equalizer presets givin in settings so i wonder does the amr wideband option in pimp my rom make the quality better?

I've got no idea, never had any problems with calls whatsoever, you might have a faulty unit, or try doing a factory reset first since you're mentioning flashing other roms.
What you could also do is: Install a soundmod from the dev section.

Hi guys, I'm running Darky 9.3 (don't know if that's relevant or not)
I've searched the forums (and the web) but couldn't find any mention of this. When I listen to music on my Galaxy S using headphones it sounds amazing, full stereo, really clear. When I use the external speaker its lovely and loud... but recently when listening to The Beatles I realised that it was only playing the left channel through the speaker (I assumed it would have been both left and right combined).
Now anybody who knows the early Beatles music and the massive stereo separation will realize this means I couldn't hear the drums/guitar/vocals depending on the track.
I tried the same song with headphones... perfect.
I tested this using both the stock Samsung music player and mSpot... the same with both.
Anybody else know about this?
Have to be honest this is just one of reasons i stoped useing custom roms as at some point i find issues i now use stock js8 its fast and reliable but i do wish you luck in finding answer

Or not properly inserted. No issues here.
The last two answers are just for fun or you guys don't understand english? He is talking about the sound through thephone's speaker!

Yeah i was just about to say... cable?
I only mentioned the Rom as I don't know if that's the cause or not. But yeah.. through headphones? music is fine... through external speaker? ...only left audio channel.
With most modern music you can get away with it to be honest as usually the vocals bass and drums are mixed to the centre... but with older stuff? you miss half the music!
rather annoying...
It is one channel. Voodoo sound fix can force mono which fixes it mate. Comes with 9.3

It is pretty much industry standard (and I don't just mean the mobile phone industry) that when representing Monoural audio, you use only the left channel! as mentioned, software mixers exist, but I would not be surprised if the stock rom did the same.

But I'm on Darky 9.3 and I have the problem... or are you saying the *problem* comes with 9.3?

hmm.... I'd have tested the stock rom if I'd realised about this in time. There's no way I can be bothered re flashing my phone... testing it... flashing it back and then going through all the hassle of setting up again. urgh. lol
I wonder if there's anybody who has a strong-stereo separation music track they can test who's on stock? is it two-channel mono? or just the left channel?
Thanks for the answers so far guys
Go into voodoo settings and choose force mono. I get 2ch audio

EDIT: Never mind I found it. Works great, thanks!
Just have to remember to turn it back to stereo when i put headphones in. But at least I can listen to The Beatles when I'm in the kitchen now on the built in speaker. Cheers!
Hi,
I had installed the ACID engine using link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32459381
However, after installing it I found that while the sound quality over headphones has improved, the voice quality over call (for the listener) has deteriorated - there is lot of distortion heard from the listener..
If someone has also faced this issue and able to fix it, then please share the details..
Acid engine is not compatible with our devices...whenever I tried to install it on my device on whatsoever Rom ..I ended up breaking my microphone....(caller unable to hear my sound).....

Yea this i can confirm too. After flashing acid audio, sure my music sounded better but the tradeoff was that people could not hear me when i make a call. Good thing i made a backup :good:
Title says all, i am currently using the stock rom and the sound level on my headphones is terrible. When i was using cm 10 the sound level was almost double compared to the stock version. I tried changing the settings in the eq, didn't help anything. Tried different audio mods, didn't solve the problem either.
So someone please help this music junky out

I would say that pro Sound Control bases but with the stock kernel will not serve, perhaps DoomKernel?

There is definitely difference. Anything above these settings, makes sound broken at highest volume.
Not sure if this is possible but if it is, I don't exactly know how to go about it. I'd like for beats to turn on only when I'm playing sound through the speakers. Not through headphones or through bluetooth. Only speaker. Whether in a phone call or YouTube. I imagine this could maybe be done through Tasker but I don't know how to go about it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm pretty sure this is not possible. At least not with the stock rom.
Mmm I figured this would be a tough one. If anyone has any ideas, don't hesitate to share

If you download pimpmyrom from the playstore you can install a beats equalizer. It's very similar to dsp manager.

Other HTC roms in the past have had a toggle in the statusbar. Although I found out recently that sound out of the speakers was actually lower with beats on. It did sound deeper but not as loud and it's a pretty noticeable difference. On the other hand it makes headphones louder as you'd expect. I did install the Wildman kernel do I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I didn't turn beats off until after I flashed the kernel.
its possible with Tasker.

Have you done it or know how? I've been trying but am not familiar enough with tasker to figure how to set this up.
I did a lot of searching but all I found were ways to boost the two front facing speakers volume. I have poor hearing and this phone is much quieter than my old one, so unless I constantly use speakerphone I'm always saying "what? Huh?". It's kinda weak...
So are there any mods or apps that can boost the phone speaker up a few notches?
Volume + is an app that can do that but you need to be rooted IIRC

Actually this doesn't seem to work anymore and the dev seems to have quit supporting it.
Any current options? Reading through old forums it seems the HTC One X commonly had the same issue and only roms/kernals or toothbrushes solved it...
Try 'speaker boost' in the play store. I installed it for a friend a month ago so they could hear their talking caller ID more clearly in a loud environment. Seems to work well. Good luck!
