[Q] Galaxy S vs Neo V for gaming? Help !!!

I am going to buy a new smartphone in couple of days.
For the first time i thought of buying Neo V because of its design and bravia engine display with large screen for gaming[ Ray would be little bit small to hold in both hands for gaming so dropped it ].
But,
Now i am confused to choose which phone to buy after seeing Galaxy S even though its on old model it has the same stand in the market.
I actually want to buy smartphone for HD gaming from gameloft and nonGL.
Which mobile supports all HD games
So please tell me which one should i buy....?
I have the SGS (Samsung Galaxy S) and it's a very good phone!
Anyway, for HD gaming is not too good... I don't have the Neo V, but checking the specs I can tell that it ain't very good neither.
I would recommend you to get a Xperia Play ( If you want your smatphone for gaming), is Cheaper than the SGS and has a better GPU.
The good thing about the SGS is that it has a lot of attention from the community (that means a lot of custom ROMs).
If you can get the money get a SGS2 or a Galaxy Nexus.
Cheers
For gaming, Galaxy S has PowerVR SGX 540 graphics is probably one of the best low priced android phones for gaming since iPhone has PowerVR SGX 535 graphics . Because games are natively coded and optimized for PowerVR GPUs, there is none of that "porting" thingie needed to be done.
That means the games are stable, fast and efficient when running on PowerVR graphics. There isn't "lost in quality" as much as regular ports, that unless you're playing it on a HD TV via TV out. Otherwise, WVGA is the limitation to that.
Neo V has Adreno 205, a non-powervr chip and is relativity slower than PowerVR SGX 540. So I wouldn't recommend that for gaming.
what about galaxy r i9103
Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H
Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9
ULP GeForce
1 GB RAM
I dont know, but if you play so much your battery will be down in 2-3h
Xperia play probably would be good, but the custom rom side of things is a bit of a barren wasteground compared to over here on the SGS forum. There are only 1-2 custom roms that are any good.
Had very mixed results with converting my own PSX games with psxperia, but the dedicated hardware controller is soooo much better than a on-screen one

As far as I know, Tegra 2 shares many of the similarities to PowerVR architecture. Some graphically intensive games are also optimized for this particular chip and are listed THD.
Lets sum up the pluses:
1) Similar architecture
2)THD optimized games enabling extra detail for ULV Geforce GPUs
So why not?

[Q & A] Ask ask your questions here !!

Hi guys
I was planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy S Advance as my second phone, it has an dual core 1 Ghz ST-Ericsson U8500 CPU with a Mali 400 GPU from ARM with 768 MB of RAM. and other similar features like the S plus.
According to the stericsson website the U8500 chip supports 1080p video recording but on the gsmarena specs it shows 720p with 30fps (maybe someday could unlock the full hd feature )
The main reason i posted this thread was to ask about it's GPU performance, as it includes the same GPU from the S2.
Will the performance be the same as the S2 ? or somewhere around that ?
And what about the U8500's performance ?
Another Question
Are Dual cores really fast compared to a single core
I own a S plus which has a Qualcomm msm8255t 1.4 Ghz single core cpu, which i find quite fast, it runs CM9 very smoothly.
I'm also considering this phone, and I hope you don't mind I through in another question: is it true what they say that with this being "an upgrade to the Galaxy S" and only available on limited markets we don't have to expect much development and selection in custom ROMs?
I am considering either this, or a Motorola Atrix 4G and I really don't know what to choose...
I actually like it's design, it's somewhat like a mix between the S2 and Galaxy Nexus, more like a baby Nexus.
anyways this phone has great potential as it beats the galaxy R (see benchmarks at gsmarena)
I don't think that it'll get much attention by devs. It's not that the phone's slow, but there won't be as many users as other Galaxy S phones have. You can see what happened to S Plus: it's faster than the Galaxy S, but not even supported by Cyanogenmod, with a very small community. The simple reason why the Galaxy S has more users now than the advanced one will ever have, is that the S once was the best phone out and many people bought it. The Plus and Advanced aren't. They get 1/2 cores when already 2/4 are standard.
LOL i just bought the device it's real smooth was playing some hd games and the performance is really good, the mali 400mp is doing its job just fine and multitasking is pretty good
I don't know about Germany but this device seems to be getting quite popular here in India

A friend got it... but he's Android noob .
I just looked on amazon - for 40€ more you get the S2. IMO it would be the better choice. More RAM, faster, awesome cam. Why didn't you buy it?
I will rather buy S2. I learn my lesson with i9001.
In Croatia "S Advance" is on T-Mobile more than 200£ cheaper SII, therefor I don't see a reason not to buy it, except that it probably will not get much attention from developers.

there's quite a big difference in the price between the advance and the S2, so i chose the Advance over the S2. (and also i liked its nexus like curve, the curved display looks really cool)
Anyways the phone is performing well, for the first time i could play GTA 3 (v1.3) with full graphics without any lags.
and now have started enjoying gaming.
I don't regret buying this phone, maybe when samsung releases ics for the phone it will perform similar to the S2

Nah, if you get past 300€, 40€ aren't a big difference. With the S2, you can replace your cam with the phone, with Advanced you can't take usefull pics. And just look at the awesome dev support. I think Sammy only released the Advanced because of the big critic, that none of the Galaxy S devices gets ICS. Now they can say 'upgrade to advanced' and make money with their bad support. But in the end it's your decision .
I know S2 is a better device but i still liked the look of the Advance, and was quite curious about the new NovaThor chipset
and btw there ain't no news of ICS for the galaxy Advance (I'm starting to worry now )
The phone seems to have some very nice motion controls (like when you double tap on the top of the phone it activates voice search, and the tilt to zoom function)
I'm confused between s advanced and Xperia arc S (both of them at same price ) but i'm scared to get s advance duo to lake of support/deve so what do u think about that nail16??
Xperia Arc S has the same configuration as the galaxy s plus so it's a single core device and has a adreno 205 (the gpu kinda sucks)
I say go for the Advance don't worry about the dev support, it seems to be a powerful phone it will soon be recognized by the devs
Ihope so =D
Theres No XDA support for the phone. So its a big no actually !!
In india also its not that famous :O..!!
Great phone,
you can buy it closed eyes

Questions about galaxy s plus! !!

Guys these r the my questions about splus !! Plz reply m thinking buying this

Thanks in advance reply me guys

The gpu on the S+ is the adreno 205, which is not as good as the gpu on the S. however, android games are hardly properly optimised for their gpus. Instead, android games are usually ports of ios games so what matters more is ram. That's why an iPhone 4 can play nova 3 better than a galaxy s2 despite the latter having a better gpu and better overall specs, including ram. So, since the S+ has more ram than the S, it is definitely better for gaming. Also, as it uses adreno205, you wouldn't need to use chainfire's plugin very often since most games are first made for the Xperia play, which also uses adreno.

[Q] s3 lte vs snapdragon 800 graphics performance

hi i have a galaxy s3 lte with the 2gb of ram, i play alot of 3d intensive games like gta vice city, while it does play these games pretty well I'm wondering how much better phones with the new snapdragon 800 are going to be in actual real play? would it be noticeable, if so how much? worth the money? or not? Or would it be worth waiting another chip generation before upgrading my phone. I am quite happy with all of the other features , any thoughts would be greatly appreciated .
Thanks

The only device that is great with games right now in market is Sony Xperia Z Ultra with its Snapdragon 800 processor and super awesome GPU.
The S600 should be considered also, there are mant S600 phones out there(Htc one , Oppo find 5(new edition), S4...) And it is not laggy.

Is the Galaxy Note still worth to buy?

I ve seen reviews etc and they said that this device is excellent at the time. Im considering of whether to buy this phone or a Galaxy SII. Im more into gaming and if Modern Combat 5 works flawless in this device, you'd got yourself a new member here in this forum. So is this phone worth to buy or the Galaxy SII? Im more focused into Gaming Performance and Battery Life and also ROM Development but i think that has been cleared off.
Can anybody share experiences with using this device? Is there any bad points of this phone as your daily driver? And gaming issues etc? Thanks

Can i also have the link for ROM development like for example, my daily driver is the Galaxy W and a Dev is working on updates, fixes, bugs on CM so other devs can reuse. Is there such for the Note? Thanks again

Let me share my experience!
You are a gamer? Hey mee too!
From my experience.. This device and Galaxy SII are mali device.. So from my experience, mali device wasnt too good for gaming..
I got constant lag on my note on MC4 games and bad graphics on modern combat 5
This mali device wasnt too good for gaming..
If you want a device for a gaming then i recommend you to buy a adreno device or tegra device!
But be careful with that specification.. You need to look carefully with their ram and their core..
Nowadays, we need a dual core and at least 1Gb ram to play a high end games.. Like modern combat 5 and asphalt 8..
So its all on your choice now bro..
I suggest you to buy a adreno device or tegra device.. PowerVR is good too at gaming but im not suggest you to buy mali device like SII and note or ace 2 cause it wasnt good for gaming
Have a nice day and im sorry for my bad english hehe

Really? I thought Mali GPUs are great for gaming. I've watched a guy (XEETECHCARE) who did a gaming review on MC5 on his Galaxy SII. Its not overclocked but it runs smooth. He's also impressed by the fps also. Sibce the Galaxy Note here is already oc to 1.6GHz, i bet its even better when gaming
