OH NO YOU'VE BRICKED IT!!!!
Just Kidding. If you are still there after 5 mins try another USB port. Make sure it's not a splitter or HUB. If you are to sending all the drivers are good.

Sorry just couldn't help myself. HTC's are very hard to brick and fairly easy to recover so don't worry about that.
Ok so a couple of questions. You followed that guide so then your HBOOT bootloader says Re-locked correct?
Last do this in fastboot fastboot getvar all
Please post the results.
---------- Post added at 10:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ----------
Also that guide that was posted is to install Android Revolution not a stock firmware if you are trying to go back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874 This is what you need. What phone do you have? Europe model guessing from avatar?

Ok well let's get you back to stock. You have two options you can flash a nandroid back up via CWM clockworkmod or you can do a RUU. I recommend doing a the CWM way as it's easier and less prone to problems. So go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2207874 scroll down and find
Stock Nandroid Backups:
you want M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID HTC__001 / 1.28.401.7
We know this as your CID is cidnum: HTC__001 so you can only flash things for HTC__001. After you get that file flash clockworkmod recovery if you don't already. Then put that zip on SD card of your phone /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
go into restore and you are back to stock my friend.

Man this phone is not working with you
Have you tried to boot the phone up normally. I know you think at this point it wont boot but I would bet it still will. If so you have your answer if not we get to have some ADB fun OH JOY
adb push <local> <remote> - copy file/dir to device
so the command would look like this using ADB
adb push nameofbackup.zip /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
I am assuming you are familiar with ADB if not let me know

We all were noobs at some point right! This is how you learn. If the phone boots up can your computer see it? If so copy the files over to the phone and then go back into recovery and do restore.

So close I can taste victory...
Ok so you need to put the file at sdcard/clockworkmod/backups/ or it will not be found. If you did that and still are not having sucess then go into CWM recovery again and create a new backup doesn't need to be everything just something. Now reboot the phone and connect it to your computer and start searching for where it put that backup you just made. Once you find it put the zip there. Then go back to CWM and restore and keep your fingers crossed maybe do a little good luck dance.

I don't sorry. I have an idea it will take me ten minutes I need to download the nandroid backup. I think that the zip is not the backup and that you need to decompress the backup to the sdcard of your phone. Gotta wait till it's done downloading to confirm and tell you if you need to put it somewhere special or if it will do it on it's own. Really should have looked into this first sorry Noob mistake on my part

So um yeah. Just go ahead and extract the 2013-03-30.16.15.27.zip to your phone /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/ it will make a folder called 2013-03-30.16.15.27 or something then go into recovery and go to restore and you will find it and hit restore. If you have a bootloop after go into recovery and then wipe system cache data and then do restore again. First boot can take 3 mins

[Q] Trying to revert to stock ROM from GPE

Hi, I'm trying to revert my HTC one to stock ROM. I'd previously followed a tutorial on flashing it to GPE, but I can't find (or more likely don't have the smarts) to get it back to a stock ROM..
It's a 3 UK model, H3G__001, and I have been having trouble finding a backup, but have found a RAR file called M7 TWRP Nandroid Backup CID H3G 001 2.24.771.3 .rar from the HTC1guru downloads page.
Trouble is - I don't know exactly how to restore this file, and despite my best googling efforts, I'm stuck.
Can anyone help with a step-by-step ? ( Sorry I hate to have to ask )
Phone Info :

This is the link to the guide. The 4th post is the one which concerns you.
Also, i would suggest that you use this RUU from htc1guru instead of the one you chose:

The one which u downloaded was TWRP Nandroid. But the guide doesnt explain the TWRP Nandroid as well as CWM Nandroid. So, ive given u the link for the easier method

Ok. I downloaded the linked CWM zip and renamed it ruu.zip for convenience, but when I try and fastboot flash it, I get :
C:\sdk-tools>fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
target reported max download size of 1526722560 bytes
sending 'zip' (963956 KB)...
OKAY [ 39.405s]

(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) zip info parsing...
FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)
finished. total time: 39.719s
Should I revert to using the linked one in the article ? I was thinking the zip you linked would be a closer match ?
If I go down the route of flashing the dev RUU - will I need to do anything else post-flash?
I couldn't find much evidence of this being a working option on a retail phone - but that may be old info....

you can't flash a nandriod backup like a rom
you have to copy it to your phone's clockworkmod/backup folder then restore it from recovery ... same for the TWRP nandriod .. it must be copied to TWRP/BACKUP/YourPhoneSN/Dateofbackup
Like I said lock your bootloader and the Developer edition RUU is your easy out

Ok. so I relocked the bootloader, and grabbed that DEV .exe updater.
Sadly, it reboots phone into the silver HTC logo, then checks, and starts to update and then crashes. Rebooting and rerunning produced the same results...
I'm on Win8 - would it be OS related ?

If I powerdown then back up - it boots back into my GPE fine.
The Nandroid backup I have is a .rar file - is it ok to unpack and repack as a .zip or can I just push the rar ?
Also I can't seem to now unlock my bootloader again - if I run the flash unlocktoken, the screen asking if I want to unlock does not reappear as it did the first time.
Man, I'm scratching my head a lot - sorry for being a dud.

your s-off so we can get this...
first boot to recovery and do a nandroid backup
and then boot the phone back up
then unrar your TWRP backup (that you downloaded) to your pc to a folder called nandroid
you then copy this to the location TWRP/BACKUP/YourPhoneSerialno/Put nandriod here
now reboot recovery and in TWRP choose backup .. nandroid should be their
restore it

Magic - that's the phone booting back to stock - worked brilliantly cheers !
Now to try and get the stock recovery etc back lol.
Thanks for your help bud !
Ah turns out it's not quite that simple. Android wants to get OTA updates but when the phone reboots to do it - it enters twrp recovery.
I need to get the stock recovery back also - so I downloaded what I think is the right version of recovery.img but when I try and fastboot flash it - it fails.
Would I need the phone back unlocked for this? And if so - how do I go about it now?

you can either re-unlock the bootloader with the s-off method (guru bootloader tool) to flash your stock recovery or pack up your recovery.img in a firmware.zip and flash it in ruu mode with a locked bootloader.
To use the guru bootloader tool go to this page: http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/guru-bootloader-reset/
save the zip on your sd card, boot in recovery, select ''install'' and choose the guru bootloader tool. This will open the aroma installer. Chose to unlock bootloader. be careful not turning back s-on with the tool. The tool only work with s-off phones.
edit: oh wait! just realized you are on twrp 2.6.0.1. The tool is intended for 2.6.3.3, not sure if it will work...

edit: oh wait! just realized you are on twrp 2.6.0.1. The tool is intended for 2.6.3.3, not sure if it will work...

Ok. The guru tool ran - but I definitely chose unlock bootloader but it hasnt worked.
Can you clarify the RUU flashing business for the recovery ? I figure if I can get the phone to get itself up to date, I can factory reset it to get rid of any odd lingering mods?
does a firmware.zip need anything other than the .img file in it?

just thinking out loud here ..but i think he may need to downgrade his hboot back to 1.44 to get an unlocktoken

I'm happy to retain S-Off until I was to sell the phone on.
Man, I'm so out of my depth now - didn't realise I had upgraded my hboot - how would I go about that ?

[Q] Deleted OS, 0MB internal memory.

I have an HTC One (sprint) and somehow my OS got erased and I cant mount memory (trwp shows 0MB). I tried installing ROM from OTG via TWRP but rom stops at writing data & system and fails. I have s-off so I tried different RUU's, they all go through all the way successfully and when it reboots it stays at HTC letters logo. I tried downgrading hboot from 1.56 to 1.44. I tried to adb push a rom to sdcard, it goes in but just like flashing a rom OTG, it fails. I have tried sideloading, no luck there either. I can access twrp, and bootloader, flash recoveries (anything .img) and windows 7 seems to notice device when connected (makes the little sound). ADB devices also recognizes my phone. So I feel like I've tried it all but no luck, any advice? Thanks in advance.

I'm also with Sprint and in your situation. A week ago I accidentally wiped my internal memory. My computer won't recognizing my phone and can't run RUU. Also using adb won't recognize my device. I ordered a OTG cable hoping to mount a flash drive to flash a Rom. Another thing that might work is using another pc, maybe it'll recognize you're device. As soon as I get access to another pc that's what I'll try next.

[Solved] Kind of soft brick?

Hello.
I'm having an issue with my phone and I really can't fix it. I've tried for a few days before posting here.
I have CWM installed, but I first had TWRP. It's an HTC by Telus, Canada.
So, the problems:
I can't factory reset since it will give me errors like "error mounting /data" and "error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure"
I can't even acccess the sdcard, it will say "E: Can't mount /sdcard" so I definitely cant install a new ROM
I had installed CM 11 but it will never go pass the logo (I'm assuming it can't since sdcard is unavailable)
I tried installing via ADB sideload and I get "* failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *"
I'm desperate I have no idea what to do and where to start.
Thanks
P.S. : I don't remember how to output all the information like version-main and stuff, I'd do it with pleasure if someone points it out. And it's S-ON
Ok, issue fixed! A proper RUU worked fine to reset my phone, all good! Still don't know what was the initial problem but now that it's solved I'm happy
the command to post your output is fastboot getvar all, remove serial and imei before posting.
after you have done that, stay in fastboot mode and type fastboot erase cache
the flash TWRP 2.6.3.3 and see if you can get into it.
once in goto - wipe - advanced wipe and select everything in the list, including internal memory and format the whole phone.
you will then have to push a rom of your choice and flash it.

ok, you could try this, relock bootloader and run the official RUU download here:

can you check the file size of that RUU you downloaded please, in properties on your PC, it should be 1.5gb, ive just tried downloading it myself and it says completed but its only 148mb, when I tried to run it I go a similar error to what you are getting, just means there is a problem with the site at the moment and will be fixed shortly, you'll have to wait until then to grab the file, just keep trying until you get the full file size.
Last time this happened to this site a few weeks back, he said some hacker in Canada was sending a back door reset to his site every few minutes.
---------- Post added at 06:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:09 PM ----------
found another download site with the same file that you can try and grab it from instead: http://androidruu.com/getdownload.php?file=M7/RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_TELUS_WWE_4.19.661.8_R_Radio_4T.24.3218.09_10.26.1718.01L_release_351500_signed_2.exe

you wont need recovery to flash an RUU, just relock your bootloader, plug your phone into the computer and run the RUU, and no that file is no good, that's why you are getting the error, although it says its complete, you only have 50% of it, delete it and try the other site linked below, androidruu.com

When you run ruu see temp folder in Windows it contains some long number named folder that contains rom.zip

S-OFF with no rom installed

Hello. Is it possible to s-off with completely no rom installed? Tried firewater method, but no success at all. I'm trying to s-off now to lock device (it's unlocked, s-on now)
I'm stuck at htc logo, phone restarts itself every ten seconds.
Fastboot works well, adb works only in cwm.
Twrp doesnt works (reboots when logo shows). Cwm recovery works, but every time i'm trying to wipe factory reset, it reboots. Seems like absolutely all data, system, cache is completely empty.
Tried sideload and push commands, but i get an error 99. Tried lots of times.
So my minimum objective is to make it locked again, and give it to warranty. Maximum obejctive- flash any rom

no you cant s-off without a rom, you will also need a custom rom to try and s-off by firewater or rumrunner and to install a custom rom you need twrp 2.6.3.3, so try this:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then flash twrp 2.6.3.3 and run those 2 commands again, see if you can then get into twrp recovery, could you also post your fastboot getvar all without imei and serial number.
Tried that like you said now, everything went smooth until that moment, when i tried to boot into TWRP. Then phone restarted on TEAMWIN logo.
Nah, spent all day trying to resolve this, but no luck :/

that's very strange, the reason the RUU's etc don't work is you already have the latest firmware on there and cant backflash whilst s-on.
do you by any chance have active cmdline overflow xxxxkb on your bootloader screen ?

Hello tomaaado
I had exactly the same problem and after all kinds of solutions i tried, i finally did flash a new ROM with sideload in twrp.
The trick was to keep your phone awake during sideload but you do need twrp working im afraid.
Louisvdbos
Sent from my One M8 using XDA Free mobile app
During the day, i managed to do so. I flashed CWM, then completely tried everything on mount/storage section, wipe/clean and etc., until i managed "somehow" to unmount data. then wiped data and flashed twrp.
Then sideloaded one of simple roms, flashed it. But in the end (after i got confirmation that flash completed) it said "cant mount /data" or smth.
So i believe problem is with /data folder. I cant unmount it now (if i try format mounted data through CWM, phone reboots).
ok after some cleaning/formating with cwm, i managed to flash twrp. what now to try?
Adb push rom /sdcard/

in cmd. Do adb push ~Rom~ /sdcard/~Rom~ .........Replacing ~Rom~ with the exact name of the file including .zip that you're trying to put onto your sdcard. Make sure the rom is in the same directory that your cmd is at, and ADB.
does it matter which ROM? must it be stock, or any custom?

Enter twrp recovery and select backup, select all of the tick boxes to make sure everything is backed up.
Once done, reboot your phone and then plug into your computer, copy the twrp folder to somewhere safe on your computer just in case, backups get wiped by accident all the time around here.

In twrp did you actually swipe to begin the backup process or just select the tick boxes and then quit ?

writing 'zip'...

Please help ?
Dammit, Now I tried the : htc_fastboot flash zip RUU.zip
RUU.zip = PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.2_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_421790_signed.zip
Everything is OKAY! The progress finished on terminal, and the bar below HTC SILVER LOGO stuck on 95%
Then I rebooted the phone : fastboot reboot
Then it stuck on the bootloader/fastboot
I repeated the same op many times without success... I even tried to install twrp recovery but once I go into it brings me back to the fastboot..
HELP PLEASE
PLEASE HELP! I tried almost everything
I flashed many custom recoveries and stock/signed ones
I flashed The ZIP many times
Everything I try it gets me back to the fastboot with "Active cmdline overflow!"

active command line overflow is because you have flashed a rom not compatible with your phone. We see this problem often when ppl flash DLX rom on their M7. The partition of the DLX and M7 are not the same so when flashing the rom, it will corrupt your MISC partition. Flashing a ruu will not fix that problem since the MISC partition is not included in the RUU, its a unique partition for each device. This can be repaired by flashing a 'genric" MISC partition using a recovery made for this situation (the noBCB recovery).
Everything explained in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2739126
I followed the instructions but unluckily, entering the recovery didn't work and brings me always to the fastboot screen, what to do ?
Please help

Well I really don't know. This is the only known fix for "active cmd line overflow". Do you know what file you have flashed exactly before this error?

I don't remember, I had this problem for about a year ago... When I tried to update to lollipop with the ruu mentioned above it stopped entering even the recovery!
The problem now is that I have to access recovery with my new hboot :/

you should have fixed that before updating
have you tried flashing the [various] recoveries to the kernel partition, it worked for a few (but it also didnt work for quite a few)
Code:
fastboot flash boot <name of recovery>.img
fastboot reboot
^^ upon reboot it will try to boot into recovery (since it's now in the kernel partition, but if it still can't enter custom recovery,
