Root method? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

What is everyone's preferred method for rooting the One? I've been with Samsung for a while now and haven't had an HTC since The Og Evo, I know I have to go to HTC Dev first and unlock the boot loader, but I'm a lil confused after that. D I use the tool kit? Or vipers method? Any help is much appreciated. I gotta get back into the HTC ways, lol.

Just follow the steps at top left of the AIO toolkit. Then flash tarp at the top right of the AIO toolkit. From then you flash tons the same way as any other phone. Straight from recovery

[Q] Question about bootloader

I can't find anything about how to detect a unlocked bootloader. I have a rooted N1 and want to know if my bootloader was unlocked by the former owner.
Can anyone tell me how to find out if the bootloader is unlocked?

When you start the phone, at the bit with the coloured x. Is there a padlock? If there is, it has been unlocked.

Oke, thanks! Then mine isn't unlocked!
Gonna search how to unlock it!

fastboot oem unlock
Peasy.
I have another question:
I've been searching about unlocking the bootloader, but what are the advantages of doing so?
I can already install custom roms.

Safer radio flash, you'll never be stuck without root. Can boot a new kernel/recovery without flashing it.
Only way to access phone if system and recovery become corrupt...
You can always unlock the bootloader later, but remember that you use the power button when unlocking the bootloader. If you have an iffy power button, you may want to unlock before the burton dies...

Thanks for the answers! I've unlocked the bootloader and when I was done I got a lot of FC's. So now I reflashed CM7 #18 and it seams to be working fine!
Thanks a lot!
But why would you wanna boot a kernel or recovery without flasing it?

Could be one of many reasons...
Say you want to restore a backup made with Clockwork, but prefer Amon Ra as your regular recovery, you can just boot into Clockwork, adbd not have to think about restoring Amon Ra, etc...

[Q] Need some help with Rooting the HTC Raider

Hi,
I am thinking about rooting my HTC Raider (Bell) X710a. I am, however, unable to find a simple enough method.
I came across this tool for the HTC Vivid (ATT) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003 And was wondering if I could use the tool on my HTC Raider.
If Not, Is there a super simple way to root my phone? I am really new to smartphones and am also fairly new to technology in general
Any Help would be greatly appreciated and thanked!
That's the method I used. I have the raider on rogers. I'm pretty sure it works for yours to. You have to unlock the bootloader first tho.
By the way that method is very simple. It doesn't get any easier in my opinion. Watch his video and follow the steps.

It won't say s-off even if you root the phone. You have to take certain steps to get s-off which is being worked on now. You should still be able to root your phone through wild child recovery. The option is there.

Go here, a video shows you how to root using the recovery.
Thanks and more

to Mr Patchy Patch...
sir perhaps you'd be able to help me out since i got the phone from rogers as well. so i did try to follow this tool and watch the video, but to no avail, still im not able to root my htc raider
now the video doesnt seem like a step by step tutorial for me so i just did exactly wht he was sayin. now due to prev attemt before using this tool, i was only successful with unlocking my bootloader; so i skiped the part where i have to unlock it.
i was able to flash the CWM 5.5.0.4 and used the backup/restore to make sure if anything happen i'd be bale to restore my phone. after that i went straight to permroot, and all i got on the promt command was some adb stuff out of date. i assumed maybe i had to flash kernel first to make it work, but thats the part where i got stock on the htc white screen logo. im not sure what i missed; maybe you could help me out and give me a step by step procedure...
i could really use some help

Fastboot flash wcx recovery. Boot to wcx recovery. Then find the rooting option. It should work.

Thanks must not be seeing it as option to root. Will give another go after work. And also what is meant by "s-off" and "s-on" and how does it effect function of devise post root?

Security off or on. As far as I know, it lets you flash kernels from recovery instead of having to flash in fastboot mode with adb.
And my noobness gets worse.....what's the dif between a kernal and a Rom?

Any other way to gain S-Off

I've been on my XDA app for a little over 2 hours now looking for answers so I wouldn't have to ask. But ny research has failed me. I started following Juopunutbear method for rooting earlier and all I was able to do is unlock my phone so far using the HTCdev site. Now I want S-Off but I was wondering if there's another way of doing it with out the wire trick. All I want is to gain perma root so I can get back to flashing and theming Any suggestions or am I going to have to suck it up and do the wire trick?? I know I'm being a pain in the arse but I really do appreciate all the help.

You do not need to s-off to gain Perm-Root go to the android dev get the all in one toolkit use that.. if you plan on changing roms i recommend wildchild's Mod build
Just in case you dont know Unlockbootloader < Flash Recovery < Flash Kernel (boot.img) < Flash Rom Anymore help feel free to pm me

Help with root/unlock

Hi, My first Motorola device so I'm unsure what I'm doing here. I've only had HTC devices, is the process the same? I want to have root to use sixaxis. Can I just unlock through Motorola, push a recovery and flash superuser? I'm on Sprint after the camera update but I'm not sure if that matters since I'm willing to unlock the bootloader.
Thanks!
Yes same process.
