Microphone Issues? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having really bad Mic issues. Switched my phone out today and it's still there:
When I call someone, they cannot hear anything I say unless I am on speakerphone mode.
This happened on both ARHD 6.2 and Renovate 1.0.
Not sure why this is happening.
Any help, guys?
I just wiped everything, fresh install of ARHD 7.0.

Guys I am also now unable to receive calls. Is there something wrong with my phone?

Sounds like it. Have talked to multiple people that say it's the best sounding phone I've had. Everyone has said it's crystal clear.

Don't know. Could be because they were from the same batch or could just be dumb luck.

my fault... i didn't actually want a poll i had never seen that option and was more playing with it... thought i would be able to delete it later but I don't seem to have an option too?
Just to chime in, I don't have this problem. People I call have told me that I sound loud and clear, and better than I did using my Captivate. The earpiece, however... leaves much to be desired in terms of quality.

I am having the same problem... does maybe I need to just take it back to AT&T

Sound issue.

Hey I was trying to fix my twcr a few weeks ago after installing arhd 3.0.1 and ran a script I came across that changed some of the files in my etc/soundimage folder I think it was. Either way since then my sound via headset is horrible. My music plays horrible. In poweramp I ha e to turn the balance knob to the right or left to hear vocals. My in call volume is also garbage via the headset now. It's really low.
I've tried everything I can thi.k of. Ran an old nandroid from months back that had gingerbread. I've wiped the system and did a clean Rom install. And the sound via headset is the same no matter work. I shud point out that sound via speaker is fine.

This was what I ran. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658969
I know it was a bad idea. I know I shudnt have did it. But I did. Twcr stopped and I had an interview to do that I wanted to record. Panicked. Looked for quick fix. Regret it. Any help wud be greatly appreciated.

Did you wipe the data partition when you reflashed the Rom?
I don't believe I did. I did run superwipe tho so I think that cleans it right?

Yes it does. Changes made to audio through a script do not persist through a complete wipe and fresh install of the operating system. It could be a hardware issue with your headset.
happens on any headset. not sure what happened. not the end of the world but i wish i cud get it working again.
Gonna bump.this and hope someone has any guesses as to what I can do since the forums have been busy lately

Run an RUU?

I've been avoiding that. I did run an old backup and formatted bit the same thing happened. I know the sound works because a notification blows my ear drums out via headset but a call or music sound brutal.

I repacked that file with stock version from our phone and cleaned up the install script so it can run without errors. Try flashing it and see if that fixes your issue. Wipe cache and dalvik.
i believe it may be a hardware issue. if i put a little presure on the jack towards the back and down it works fine. coulda swore this headset worked tho. maybe it got bumped and a connector or something moved.
weird. i ran that and now it works better. its a little touchy if i bump it it does the same thing but i can get the sound normal now. which makes no sense.

I'm having the same problem with Xperia V,
I just got the phone on sunday with ICS and saw the update coming, updated the phone.
I set it up and installed viber on my phone, People on the other side can't hear me at all.I can hear'em perfectly yet they can't hear me at all.
For the first time I thought it was only me who has the problem, I even googled it and couldn't find any solution.
Too bad and I felt like going back to ICS and see the problem still occurs cause I didn't get a chance to test it on ICS.
Hope they'll find the problem and a solution for this. or something on coming update.
I too tought that I was the only one.
I checked viber website, and the Xperia T is not listed in the compatible devices... even though it's android device!
Oh then, Xperia V might not be listed too. well they'll fix it in later updates. so yea we gotta wait, till then we'll have to chat.
I saw in some post that a person from viber was answering questions, So maybe we can contact him but how? Just to check if they plan to make it compatible or to tell us a tips to get it to work...

It's a short in the hardware. Make sure xloud is always turned off. I went through 3 Sony phones because of that issue.

[Q]No one can hear me(on a call)

Hey guys I got a problem with my HTC One : I'm rooted, S-OFF and installed latest firmware for 4.2.2 (2.24.401.8) ... installed ARHD 13.3 ... everything works fine, but when I make a call, nobody hear me ... I got to go on speaker and then it works. Data works, SMS, etc... I'm a begginer so maybe I just missed a step but everything looks good ... I made all the step explain in Vomers Guide for S-OFF and firmware installation ... took me a while but finally done it. It's the first time it does that... and I installed a lot of Rom before this one.
So before trying an other Rom version (already downloaded ARHD 20.0) ... I just want to be sure that it's not something in my settings...and I would like to know what could make this problem.
People told that when I call them, it sounds like I'm 'in water' .
For sure it's not my case ...It was working before.
Sorry if my english isnt good.
I apologize if it comes out as stupid, but I have to ask, since I myself went through this.
Are you sure you aren't covering the microphone? It's really placed very badly, in the bottom corner, and I often cover it with my right hand during calls which causes people to not hear me out hear my badly.

Thanks for your answer but I tried without the case and changed my hand on the phone, nothing worked... Really weird...

Ironically I heard that from someone today and I'm running stock. Maybe an issue with the voice protocols?
I just read on an other thread that it was a problem with the internal mic of the phone... But it looks like the guy had the same problem as me : he s-off his phone a day ago and mic didnt work after that... Might try to upgrade or install another rom.. I will tell you if it worked

Headset mic way too sensitive

Hi All,
Got the Z1 last week about 9 dates ago as a replacement for a Samsung Galaxy S3. Generally liking it, though struggling to get used to the size of the handset. One major issue, though that I can't easily sort or find an answer to anywhere.
Basically, when I use a wired headset with inline mic for phone calls, the microphone is way too sensitive. It picks up every movement of the headphone cord, every rustle on my clothes, etc. Tried about 5 different headsets, including a dedicated Android one button Sennheiser headset. All the same. None of these proved a problem with
Anyone any ideas on what's causing it or how to fix it? Is there something simple I'm missing? It's making calls a painful experience.
Thanks in anticipation.

Nope. In one case, the headphones/headset goes back as far as an IPhone 4, so about three years ago. This is the first time I've had the issue with any of them.

Tried that. No change. S3 better than this? In this respect only. V pleased to see the back of the S3, as it constantly had firmware issues, caused, no doubt. Random battery life issues (sometimes lasting a day, sometimes a few hours), crashes, screen redraw issues, glitchy music playback. I could go on.

Woah galaxy s3 better then this? no way, i had one it was laggy in ui, because of it being ruined by touchwiz and also the fact it was an at&t variant so it had bloatware ontop of samsung bloatware lol

Cool! :victory: well, I don't know about the bloat ware but in my home, most of us are crazy for samsung

I think with Root you can get work anything even the sensitivity of your microphone. It can be easy like edit build.prop that something more but I am sure the sensitivity can be managed. If I find something I will post.
