hello, a friend of mine just bought a S3 mini, but it seems to have an issue..if she puts the phone down and the screen times out after a couple mins it will reboot...then a couple min after it starts up it reboots agin and keeps goin pretty much until the battery is dead. I tried server factory reset and re flashed with Kies. Does any one know of anything else i could try...id like to leave root/custom rom as a last resort.
Thanks

Hey all,
I posted a while ago about my phone having died and only having red flashing lights...I managed to solve that- thanks for you help, but now have a completely different problem.
Since then about a week has passed and approximately every 36 hours the phone seems to crash. When I take out the battery and turn it on again it invariably hangs at the Ericsson logo screen. When I then leave it off for a period of time (between 2 and 12 hours) I either find it starts to work again, or that I'll have the red flashing lights and have to leave it for longer.
When it does start working, it always seem to have been hard reset and I have to go through the set up again.
It's possible heating the battery speeds up how long it takes to start working again (although I've tried it with 2 batteries so I'm not sure why that would work) - and I'm not sure if that is actually the case yet or not anyway.
- It's very frustrating to lose all of my contacts daily, but I don't want to give up on £250 worth of kit... any ideas?
Thanks so much

Heh, don't know.
Maybe some other rom's installation messed up something....
hmm... I faced the same problem...
So.. I did have to send it for repair :S ....
maybe i have the same problem... many roms tried, many soft and hard-reset, but the lifetime cycle of the phone before to re-flash the device is at maximum 1-2 days... now i'm trying the tips about quickgps (maybe could be correlated) on the thread in this forum... but the most probably truth i think that could be an internal memory rom damage... if anyone find a soluzion about this problem via software i'm here...
I seem to be having the same problem.
A week ago i tested the latest roms with winmo 6.5.1, after several roms i settled with a rom with build 23081, enabled htc sense, played around abit and went to bed and put the phone to charge. when i woke and touched the screen, the phone immediately froze.
After removing battery it froze again in SE boot screen and after second removal of battery the phone hard reseted it self.
The phone has been freezing and flashing itself ever sense, sometimes the uptime is minutes sometimes over day.
Currently the phone has survived 3 days without a spontaneous flash, the only difference is that i didn't bother to enable htc sense last time it flashed. So i enabled htc sense once again and will see if the phone survives a day.

i had approximatively also the same problem... i'm trying to understand what is the reason of this instable situation... gps location? memory? graphic instance that use HTC sense? is heavy to understand... if anyone could also find the right solution...
was having the same problem tried the method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290 and it is working on my X1 so far

Did the "task 29" do anything?
I tried the method suggested but no change besides hard reset. And the X1 froze about 12h after that...

ye mine did it again aswell this morning
i just tried hard reseting then install a stock rom then hardreset again and install a custom rom, will let you know if it works
Do you guys often use Opera Mobile?
Ahah!
Very encouraging to see other people had the same difficulties... and I suppose that it's just a question of making sure a fresh ROM flash works properly.
Sadly mine has reached the stage where it's no longer working for 'a day' before crashing... it's just pretty much dead.
Now I can bring up the tricolour screen if I'm plugged in, the ROM then begins to flash off the memory card, but crashes half way through every time.
I have tried this with 2 batteries, one of which (which I have used once and was working fine but only lasted 2 days before breaking) now does nothing whatsoever. The other lets me get half way through the flash every time.
- I can't send it back on the warranty until I reflash it myself (and I don't have a receipt anyway) so I'm going to go find a high street mobile fixing place and see if they can help.
hardresetting then flashing a stock rom (R3A generic) then hardresetting again then installing custom rom and hardresetting, definately fixed my phone, has been working for more than 2 days now it usually stops in less than 1 day.
FYI - high street phone guys managed to reflash the device for £15....it lasted 4 days but has just died again.
I bought a galaxy s one month ago and after sometime it startwd lagging where it vibrated once and then twice again after 2 seconds and then the force close error appeared , then this problem increase when ithe process was the same ,freezed once and then twice , but now no force close error appeared but it freezed and the screen becomed black and nthng happened just keep waiting and waiting then I pulled the battery out and rebooted it and ittook literally ages in booting, something b/w 15-30 minutes and nthng appeared after booting just yhe notifivation bar was there and rest part black ,totally black, and after sometime the notifivztion also went away and the same process again ,it freezed I pulled the battery out and all that, after t hours trying like 50 times rebooting it worked and then the mext day same thing happened again thwn I called customer care they knew mthmg more than me amd suggested me to factory reset it , I firstly didn't did iy as I would loose all my data so I waited if something happ. again to the phonr , then I factory reseted it after when it,happene again ! now I am using it with android 2.2 after factory reset and haven't loaded it much but then also it frozed onceand aftet rebooting the notif. bar was their and instead of black screen their was an error which stated'could not load, trying again in 5 secs ' then after sometime it loafed is fine now!
I am thinking to illegally update my phone with 2.3.4 as it isn't available legally in india! So can any1 tell me why does freezing happen ? Is my cell defective? Should I update it illegally? And pls guys i don't want to flash it with custom rom s so pls don't suggest me with that!
U can upgrade to Samsung Stock Firmware in Samfirware web or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790.
Be sure you are using SGS I9000.
ya i have thought a lot and i am indeed doing that going to 2.3.4 stock android
Im on the the official N7000XXLSZ rom and ive been on it for the past few weeks. Before that I did play about with the super nexus rom but flash it back to normal because I missed the pen. (no root)
Its been working really well up until today when it kept on some how rebooting in to the samsung logo. then it would be ok for a few minutes then the home button wouldnt work to wake the device up. When I hit the power button it would come on after 5 seconds.
So I tried taking the battery out and back in but now its stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note GT n7000 screen. I've tried clearing the cache but no joy?
Any ideas? I've done everything ok with the modding on safe kernals and its been working perfectly for the past 3 weeks. Very strange
Any help would be great, i dont really want to wipe the device. Is JB safe to wipe on??
Cheers
Baker0
Fixed it in the end by wiping.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
its happen again... the battery was on 1% and I shut the phone down. I charged it fully and through out the day it kept on rebooting and getting pretty hot. With very light use it went down to 5% after 5 hours. What can be causing this?? the SD card was also playing up so Im currenty wiping to see if that helps.
Hey guys,
after spending some time in the forum and not finding an answer to my problem I decided to ask you guys directly. So here is the situation I'm facing:
My girlfriends sister owns a S3 mini and it suddendly went dead. She tried to turn in on the other morning but there is nothing happening. No flashing of the screen, no sound, just plain dead. She did not install any custom roms or unlocked the bootloader or something. The phone is basically running with stock rom and there were no modification made.
So she asked me if I could help her with that.+
I tried then to enter download mode, as I read that that should be possible, but again nothin is happening. I tried to remove the battery for about 10 min and put it back in and tried charging it although the phone shows no sign that it is being charged when plugged in.
So this is when I started to search for similiar problems and found out that there is a problem with the S3 (not the mini) called "sudden death". but since I own a mini this seems impossible as well. Maybe you guys got an idea. Thanks in advance.
Oh and I tried a different battery as well. Nothing changed

Well you did virtually everything that I was going to say to you. So my opinion is that, your girlfriends sister phone is possessed by some demon or sh*t like that:laugh:
Bad news T T

I believed what you encounter with that s3 mini is called a "deadboot". Same thing happened to me when i was fixing a Samsung phone couple days ago with Bootloop problem, I flash the new firmware and the phone was fix then i was browsing the settings and poofed! just went off and won't turn on. I'm sorry to bring the bad news here , but she will have to visit a phone technician, it's a problem with the JTAG pads of the phone.

yeah well, I expected something like that. I'll tell her and she will have to sort that out by herself.
Thanks anyway for your help guys.
Hello lads! The last few days I have been trying to fix a huge problem with my Galaxy S4 i9505. I had been using the Google 4.4 rom for almost a month without any problem. One day, when my phone was low on battery it shutted down and I plugged it in my charger to power it on again. When it turned on I was prompted to the screen you see when you use the 4.4 rom for the first time. I had all my apps but everything was resetted. Every setting, all the app data, messages, etc. I thought this was a one time thing so I used about an hour to get everything back to normal again. Then the next day, same happened again. Phone turned off because of low battery, and everything was reset. I tried to google it but with no luck, so I did a factory reset and flashed the newest Google rom (4.4.2) with a new kernel called Ktoonsez. Got everything back to normal again and used my phone for a couple of hours before it just suddenly shutted down once again, but this time with almost full battery. When i tried to turn it on I was stuck on the Google loading animation and had to reflash 4.4.2. It turned back on and this time I decided to let the phone stay stock to see if any of my problems was caused of my apps or settings. It lasted for 2-3 days before the same thing happened again... I tried to flash different modems, other roms and firmwares but nothing have helped so far. I am also prompted with a message each time I turn the phone on which tells me that com.android.phone has stopped working. I have tried several factory resets, wiped dalvik, wiped cache, but still has the same problem... I have now given up trying and wonder if anyone of you know what I can do to fix the problem? Any tip is much appreciated and I hope to hear from you! Thanks!
edit: figured out I posted this is the wrong forum as this is for s4 active and i have a i9505. Sorry! Anyway, please comment if you know how to fix it. Thanks!
