Hello i'll try to explain how i fixed the red notification light when my friend's phone died.
The situation was that he charged the phone from the car built in USB and after he unplugged the charger the phone never powered on.
I tried all the solutions that google search can provide and nothing helped.
The problem was that when you plug the charger the red light stays on without any blinks and nothing helped.
Tools you need:
*Torque screw T5 screwdriver
*Small Philips screwdriver (thanks scream4cheese for remind)
*Plastic handle or something else (to open the back cover without damage it)
*Thin wires
*old/new phone charger
So lets start - hope it will help some one that stuck in this situation
1. First of all you need to remove the back cover to get access to the battery.

2. Unscrew the 2 screws that holds the battery flex cable.
3. Disconnect the flex cable from the phone.
4. Now you need two thin wires that you can connect to the battery flex cable.
5. Find some old phone charger ( i used old nokia charger ) that can provide about 5.0v-5.8v.
6. If you have volt meter find where is the positive and negative (+) and (-).
7. Connect the battery positive (+) to charger positive (+) and negative to negative.
8. Plug the charger to power and wait about 15-13 minutes, do not leave in that charging position too much time because the battery may EXPLODE.
9. Disconnect all the wires and reconnect the battery to the phone (if not working wait few minutes and start over from step 7) maybe the connections is not good or mot enough charged.
10. power on the phone and you have solved that issue.
This is really helpful. It should be a sticky.:thumbup:
Also I would like you to add the type of screw drivers is needed to open the phone's cover and the pins.

Good to know in case it happens so thanks but I was just wondering whether just disconnecting battery terminals wasn't enough as quite a few mentioned that that's how they fixed it so not sure how this method works.
Anyway thanks

It looks to me that there are circumstances where battery drain is such that the battery voltage drops too far too fast for the phone's charging circuits to cope. (Hence it happening mostly to people running battery-sapping benchmarks.)

As i mentioned the battery discharged fully under the 0.2 Volt (after charging the phone with incompatible charger which output is about 3.5V) *in this case the battery is much powerful than charger and it forwarding the power back to charger and not the charger to phone*
so the phone doesn't know that the battery is OK and thinks that it is bad battery, in this case you should use my method or replace to new one if you have an choice to receive it fast or find in local shop.
I'm not guarantee that my method will save your battery you may need to replace it.
According to the service manual, the wireless charger is also separate from the other phone circuitry.
The red light indicated trickle charging, which is slow. And maybe the phone uses more charging than even trickle charging can provide.
A Qi charger should charge the battery normally even if it is empty, as the phone does not need to power up to achieve high charge currrent.
That sounds a lot easier than opening it up and charging the battery manually!

In this case the Qi or Original nexus charger not helping, because it connect to the same circuit as usb charger, the mother board controls the battery charging so in this case you cannot charge in any way if the phone thinks that the battery is bad.
Any way in most cases like that you will change to new battery because the old one is totally dead :/
Neat. So you basically used a defibrillator on the battery . Sad to see the battery management being so poor on this device that it lets the battery drop that low.

Ummmmm. I think people are just being impatient. I had my N4 powered off while overseas for 2 months. When I returned and turned my N4 on, I received the "Red Light of Death".
I read through all of the forums and found the same fixes everywhere.
Open the phone up and reset the battery terminal bar, etc etc...
Now, I have no problem doing that, but I just couldn't accept such a major flaw from this phone, not to mention the problem appeared to be widespread.
Anyways, back to my original point, people are just crazy impatient and freak out over each and every little thing. The first thing they do is rip their phone open and start tinkering.
I ASSURE YOU. JUST LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN USING THE WALL CHARGER FOR AN HOUR OR SO, and it WILL turn back on.
Now, maybe there are situations out there where my method doesn't work, in that case, shame on LG and Google.
Though, I would be willing to bet, if this happens to anyone else, just leave it the hell alone and let it sit on the wall charger for a couple of hours, turning it on and off a few times in between (or at least attempting to), it will come back to life.
It took a month to get my phone...When i got it finally..it had no charge at all..tried to switch it on but all i got was a red flashing led.it scared me a lot but i plugged in the charger and it stayed there for an hour until it turned on..

There is a lot of cases for the red button, in my case nothing helped only that solution, I'm not telling people to use my advice when you see red light first of all should try easier way to solve it, like charge with original charger for few hours etc

Hi
This is defeating a safety mechanism. When lithium batteries are over discharged they can become permanently damaged and then are not safe to recharge. Recharging could result in gassing and or an explosion and fire, this may not happen right away or at all, however the chances of this happening is significantly increased after a deep discharge or some other fault causing over-heating etc. Why did LG build in this protection mechanism in the first place? Do people just think it was to annoy owners and have returns for no reason? Lithium batteries can be lethal which is why there have been world wide recalls in some cases, and they are only safe now because of safety devices built into the battery and phone.
I wouldn't want a phone exploding in my pocket or against my face or in my hand or setting fire to my home. Lithium batteries are generally pretty safe only because of these safety mechanisms, defeat them and lithium batteries become pretty dangerous.
Read up on safety issues here: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/lithium_ion_safety_concerns especially under the "What every battery user should know" section and please realise you are literally playing with fire by defecting or shorting out the safety mechanism which this direct charging method is likely doing.
Regards
Phil
Very good thank you
Must say this has saved me from the trouble that would be sending my phone to RMA! Thanks a lot!
This worked for my girlfriends Nexus 4 that she allowed to go completely dead. 3 buttons, etc...would not get a response from the unit.

works like a charm, just fixed mine by following the steps.
I dropped my phone in the pond and it was totally submerged under water for about 3-4 minutes, can't power up after, dry for couple of days still doesn't work, all I got was a red led light while charging (not flashing).
I thought the phone was beyond repair so just leave it in a bag of rice to see if there's any miracle. Take the phone out after 3 days, connect to the charger and I get a red flashing light, I think it is a good sign, so I did a google search and redirected to this post, connect the battery flex to an old nokia charger for about 14 minutes and it was fixed, how amazing is that.
My sincere thanks to yev.gavrikov!
-----------------------------------------------------------
update:
the phone turns off automatically after 20 minutes, the red flashing light comes back, will try again tmr, too late to go through that again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
before I connected the wire with the battery flex I took a read with a volt meter the voltage is 0.36, after a 14-minutes charge the voltage increased to 1.30, still way below the 3.8v standard voltage. But the phone is ok to power up with the stock charger and the battery status bar shows 99% after charge for about half hour. I thought it was fixed, though the the charging rate seems little bit too high, from 1.3v to 99% just within half hour !
Will try again tonight, but I figure might be something wrong with the power management module of the main board.

I went in the pool with my Nexus 4 in a plastic bag to keep the sand out. Realized it after several minutes that I still had it in my pocket and got it out. Didn't have any rice so I wrapped it in a diaper for a day. Then I got some rice and left it in the rice for about 2 days. I pulled it out and it looked dry enough. Plugged it in and got the battery charging white icons. They went away, I waited a few minutes and tired to turn it on. Nothing. So I waited a while longer and tried it again. The red light started blinking and I couldn't get it to do anything. I tried different cords but no help. When I tried to plug it into another charger base I noticed some condensation in the front camera and in the back flash. So I stopped the whole deal and put it back in rice and laid it up in a window sill. I'm not sure what my next move is. I think the flashing red light might have saved me from turning it on and screwing it up further. I've rooted my previous phones and I feel fairly comfortable with that stuff but I'm a little nervous taking the back off this phone though. I would finally like to try a wireless charger first before I go ripping into the back of this thing. Plus I don't have a volt meter to check the charger. Any suggestions on how I could try a charger without buying one? Or what my next step is?
QI chargrer
Hey there I actually was looking for a soluiton to this, since i HAD the same problem. I didnt wanted to open up my phone, so i decided to charge it back somehow else. With the normal factory charger wasnt really successfull try, so i bought a QI charger, with USB pluggable slot at the end, and plugged to the factory 1.2a converter. After 1-2 hours my phone started to charge, and displayed the charging white battery instead of blinking light!
So im actually really thankfull on all the ideas here, hope my suggestion will help on more ppl.
A little over a week ago I was driving to a client in a very rural area. Had my Nexus 4 running Navigation and playing music over my car's AUX port. Also had my USB plugged into the car's cigarette lighter port to keep it charged.
All of a sudden, the music stopped playing. Looked at the phone and it was off. Pushed the power button to turn it back on and the red LED started blinking. At this point I panicked because it was a 4 hour drive in the middle of nowhere, had no idea where I was going, and now no Nav or phone calls.
Over the next 10 minutes I kept pushing power and holding it for a variable length of time, from just an instant to 30 seconds or more. No dice. Then after what must have been the 20th try or so, the phone booted up. Relief! When it was fully booted, I noticed the battery was around 90%. No problems since then.
FWIW, YMMV.

Folks,
I was flashing CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE and the battery went down. The flashing procedure stopped at 85%.
After this incident I could not turn on the phone again. It spent all night recharging and nothing.
What should I do?

Did you charge it over night with the wall charger or with the sync cable? If Windows doesn't recognize the phone, as it might not since you were in the middle of flashing, it may not provide a charge through the sync cable. You might have just thought you were charging it but you weren't.
I was charging with the wall charger, and nothing happens at all (no lights, no bootloader)
Did I brick the phone?
Is there a way to brick the phone while flashing this rom and losing battery power or it's not bricked?
Try pulling your battery for 10 min or so and then put it back in. Phones don't usually get bricked by getting interupted in the middle of a flash. If they did, there would be a lot more people around here with bricked phones because I've see a whole lot of threads in here with people saying they got interupted in the middle of a flash. I don't think you should start worrying about that quite yet.
So I'm taking off the battery for a while, let's see what happens...
I can't see any signal even if the battery is out, and the wall charger is plugged anyway.
I've pull off the battery for about 20 minutes (battery was in refrigerator at this time) and nothing happened.
Is there anything else to do?
(ps:I'm not using the original wall charger...)

OK here's the solution.
First of all, be aware that the MDA can NOT charge unless the OS is fully loaded. If for whatever reason your battery gets fully depleted, you have to do the following (it involves ruining a 5 $ cable and doing some surgery):
- first, go out and buy a new USB-to-mini-USB cable, unless you have 2 already (or one and the original charger)
- take out the battery
- take the USB-to-mini-USB cable, cut off the mini-USB plug and expose the four wires
- strip the red (+) and black (-) wire and twist the copper ends of each wire
- now CAREFULLY attach the right wire to the right connector on the battery (so + on + and - on -) and tape it there so it stays firmly on
- put the cable in your (running) PC or put the charger in the wall socket
- let the battery recharge for an hour or so, then put it back in the Wizard and reboot
- now when it is fully rebooted, you need the second cable to charge your Wizard completely, the way you're used to.
Worked for me! I've kept the ruined cable, just in case it happens again.
Good luck!

Hope that works/worked for you, let me know if it does.
I made the cable, tried to recharge battery for 1 hour nd nothing again...no lights, no signs...still with a dead phone...
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Do you have access to a volt meter? If you do, check and see if you get any voltage on the battery at all. Maybe your battery is shot. Theres no reason for your phone to be bricked so I wouldn't give up just yet.
Theres also another trick that someone else having a similar problem in another post reminded me of to jump start your battery. It involves a 9v battery and a couple of wires (bread ties will work if you don't have any wires laying around). It's pretty much the same thing as the charger thing to an extent. You take the 9v battery and attach the wires(bread ties) from the - to the minus on your cell battery and + to + but only do that for 10 seconds and then remove them, wait 30 seconds and then do it again for 10 seconds. Repeat that 10 times and then put the battery back in to the phone and connect the charger. If that doesn't jump start it your battery might be gone for good.
Thanx, I'll try it too.
Maybe tomorrow I'll have access to a second battery with a friend of mine.(fully charged and working battery)
Do you know why is the phone not showing any lights? Is there any explanation (for the case it's not bricked)?
If the battery is completely drained it won't take a charge (this is actually a well known issue with wizards) the charge lights won't come on because they are actually taking their current straight from the battery.
if you not using charger that came with phone thats probably your issue charger that came with phone is 1amp most secondary chargers are 500ma
I think the phone is really dead now.
I´ve put my friend´s battery in my phone and nothing happened. (no signs)
My battery worked with my friend's phone too...
What are the solutions now? A new motherboard?

I've just reread your initial post and i think you're both guilty and unlucky. Guilty for acknowledging the RUU warning about using a charged battery (check boxes) and unlucky because the flashing might have stopped while writing to the IPL zone.
So i do think that new board is the only solution here. Sorry.
Where are cheap boards for sale?
hi, new member here.
bought my tilt on 10/4/07. has been flawless since that time.
used the nav quite a bit during a road trip, used a cig lighter usb charger.
got home and my battery was at roughly 40%.
put it on the charger at night went to sleep. in morning disconnected it at 8 am. shortly after i arrived at work i got the critical battery low chime. checked and it had like 7% battery life.
figured i didnt plug it in right, or it got knocked loose some how and didnt get charged.
put it in flight mode to minimize battery usage. left work at 2 30 pm (4% battery life) and put it on the car charger. got home and put it on the HTC supplied wall charger. light turned amber, so i assumed it was charging.
checked an hour later and turned phone on, it said 0%, and immediately died. left it on the charger for a few hours and the light was still amber, turned it back on and again 0% and phone immediately died and did a soft reset on its own. i turned the phone off and left it on the ac charger, took out the sim card and put it in an old blackberry to use while the battery was charging.
its been on the ac wall charger for the last several hours, i checked and the phone is totally dead, cannot turn it on, and the LED at the top is now RED.
what is the problem here? why wont this thing charge?
thanks in advance, i have alot of critical info on this device and any help would be greatly appreciated.
i cannot hard reset because i cannot turn the flippign thing on....
Does it charge when you connect it to your computer? If it does, then your charger is toast. If not, then it's probably the phone itself.
I'd try a different charger first. If that makes no difference then a different battery. If that still does not make any difference then time to exchange it.

connected to either the computer or the wall charger, the LED thats normally amber when charging, and green when charged, remains red.
I had something very similar happen to my wizard.
And as weird as it sounds, the only fix was to charge the battery in a friends wizard on his charger. I'd check the battery if possible.
Could be the battery. Know any place or anyone that will let you try a charged battery? If not, you might have to go in to an AT&T store.
i think i got it working. did some reading/browsing...
took a usb wire and cut the mini usb head off. dissected it and found the the red and black charging wires. took out the battery and held the leads to teh battery while the other end was plugged into a USB/AC adapter wall charger from a old blackberry. after manually charging the battery for several minutes, i put the battery back in the phone and the phone started up. now it seems to be charging off the wall charger and the led is now amber from red.
thanks for all your help/suggestions.
well it worked briefly. the amber light has gone back to red and it seems that the battery is not charging.
dont know what happened to my perfectly functioning phone.

Repeat this proceedure but this time do not turn the phone on, just plug it in to the wall charger once you have zapped the battery again.
Turning your phone on probably just caused the already recovering battery to die whiles it is trying to take on a charge.
It is mentioned quite a lot on the boards that Li-Ion Batteries do not like being over disscharged and there is usually a little protection circuit in the battery to provent complete disscharging although this circuit may be on board the phone. Completely disscharging a Li-Ion cell will kill it stone dead and it will need replacing.
When you took the battery out and so called jump started it with your flying leads, this possibly reset the little protection circuit in the battery so it can now take on a charge. I feel that once you turned on the phone, this was to much for the already depleted cell to take and possibly re-tripped its inbuilt circuit.
If you do manage to recover you cell, in future it is good practice not to let the battery go below about 25%. Li-ion cells are generally happy being top off regularly.
I hope this helps buddy
Do let us know!
Cheers

I had exactly the same problem with my battery. It came on though after a day. Although the battery life after this happened went down to 10hrs max on standby. I sent the phone back and got a new one and now all is fine.
This is a problem that affects almost all makes of phone. There are three (main) causes of the problem:
1.
The battery charge drops too low to allow the charging circuit to recognise a battery is even in place (red no charge light stays lit)
possible solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...22&postcount=6
(in the end very similar in the end to the USB wire used in post above)
2.
A faulty battery (but if you can charge it using a cut usb cable or using a couple of AA batteries this may not be a faulty battery.
3.
A faulty charger OR a charger not delivering 5v at 1000mA as the OEM one does. Many chargers that are used for other phones or generic chargers only deliver 500mA. This is not enough when your battery drops very low. (these chargers are OK for occasional use but I do not advise using them regularly particularly if the no-charge syndrome has shown itself)
4.
A faulty USB connection on the phone. I have now seen a couple of reports where the fine wire connections in the phones USB port have become bent out of place.
Number 4 above is at least possible for the OP as it seems the battery will charge using a cut USB cable but not when either the PC USB cable or mains charger is connected. A USB port on the phone with a a bent internal contact would explain what's happening.
A previous poster was able with a needle or similar to bend the contact back into place.
Mike
i had the same problem with my phone.
put it in the charger overnight and woke up in the morning and couldnt turn on the phone with blinking red light. I don't know if my battery was over-drained though. I went to AT&T and was playing around with their charger and new battery and somehow the so-called dead battery started working again. They changed the SIM card on my phone there and then i haven't been able to use the phone since. I've changed the network to GSM instead of Auto setting under Phone Options which allows us to make calls; but now I can't connect to 3G network.
Charging thru mini usb
My phone started to exhibit similar problems...plugged in but no charging of the battery. I finally realized that my mini usb connection on the phone has been compromised (bent, distorted=not functioning properly) Now I have to prop the mini usb connection up at a slight angle to engage the charge. I think the plastic/metallic connector on the phone is somewhat fragile ...I had similar issues with my hermes.
called customer support.
they are sending me a new phone and battery.
how do i know its not a refurbished one? any clues?
before u send out your defect phone, have u check if your phone's mini-USB connector has bent or misaligned pins?
yeah all the connectors visually are fine.
okay so this is a new problem... if I plug my tilt in to my car charger, the battery actually drains faster than if it's unplugged... about a percentage a minute... when I come home and plug it... it charges regularly. I've tried 2 different roms, 3 different radios and 2 different car chargers... any ideas? been doing a lot of soft resets lately, wondering if that would burn the battery out?
new revelation!
okay so after my car charger "drains" my battery... I put the regular charger in and charge it from 74% to 85% in about 20 minutes... then I took the battery out and put it back in.. upon reboot my battery is at 97%... does this mean the car charger is somehow ACTUALLY charging the battery but for some reason making the phone think it's discharging it... this is tricky.

is the battery heating up while it is charging in the car?
I don't think so... I'm not 100% but I'd probabally remember something liek that
I just remember it was dropping like crazy after I plugged it in.. once it jumped from 39% to 34% when I was using it while it was plugged in for 4 minutes

I'm starting to think it's not actual battery drainage because of how fast it's dying.... it dropped to 2% and shut itself off last night when I plugged it in.. took 5 minutes to go from 28% to "dead" then when I was charging it in my house that night it slowly went from 0% to 45% then it jumped to 98% and was full.. I'm so confused
Maybe let the battery drain out all the way so the phone won't even turn on, and then charge it back up. I've never heard of this happening before, but I know the phone has to "calibrate" the battery, for lack of a better word. Draining the battery all the way lets the phone set a "zero point". I dunno if it will help, but it would be worth a try.
haha it kinda did that on it's own last night... recharged it, it's got the same problem as of 20 minutes ago.. maybe it'll work itself out.... but I really need to be able to plug it into my car.
This is my second Tilt I'm playing with as the first one after I messed around with started to act funny.
1) Battery would be 100% - I wake up 6 hours later and it's dead.
2) Network consistently was being dropped even though it stated I was connected.
I've spend 5 hours on this site reading now and still don't know if I've learned much lol
Good luck to you...
Check the USB port. Is it slightly bent on the right side? I had this same problem & had to RMA. I confirmed that there was higher discharge using SK Tools & Anton Tomov Batery Meter. However, home charger still worked fine.

Hmm... I would charge to 100% (or near enough) unplug it and then put the media player on and play it solid on repeat until the battery dies. Then charge it up to full again and see if there is any difference. These batteries don't have a memory as such, but as the previous poster said it may have got itself slightly 'confused'
Same problem here with a carcomm cradle for the TyTN II,. When I plug my phone in, the orange light comes on, the phone says it is charging but the battery just seems to drain faster and after a couple of minutes the light goes out. I have BatteryStatus installed, when I connect the phone to my pc with the standard usb/synch cable BatteryStatus shows +0mW for a short while and after a few seconds it'll say it's at +1300mW or something like that.
In the car when I put the phone in the cradle it'll show +0mW for a few seconds, then around -250mW (Idle) and the orange light turns off...
But I actually caught it charging once with +22mW when turning it on (from standby). I tried all obvious things, softresetting the phone while charging etc. But nothing helps, the cradle is connected straight to the carbattery.

Just checked and yes it is, stylus thing happened to me also once....
It's a little bend downwards (when having the screen on top) @ the last 2 pins...
well looks like we've narrowed down the problem.. and it looks like the fix is gonna cost $80!!

anyone know of a solution we could try out? my other phone (s710) had a USB cover so this never happened

What kind of carcharger do you have? Been reading about this problem and alot of ppl say the charger needs to be able to put out at least 1A for the phone to charge, I used some cheap cigarettelighter charger that was rated @ 650mA. It worked but charged so slowly that it would've taken days to fully charge. And besides that it didn't last long, 3 days before it blew the fuse and some more parts (worked for 2 secs after replacing the fuse)
I've tried several different ones... I think that since 3 people on this site all seem to have a "crushed" pin in our USB ports that's probabally the issue... now.. about a fix...
The amperage on your charger doesn't really matter. 1 amp is recommended so that you can use the device while charging, and the rate at which the battery charges does not diminish. If you used a 500mA charger, and had wi-fi & gps on, and media player blasting, for example, the battery may not charge at all because all the power coming from the charger is being used immediately. 1 amp chargers remedy this problem. Hope this makes sense, I've been having problems finding the correct words to express my ideas lately. Probably just stressed out! It sounds like the bent pin on the usb port may be resulting in a V+ pin shorting to ground (or V-). Which would drain the battery quickly. When you use battery power or charge the battery, it is normal for the battery to get warm. When you plug yours into the car charger (the one that drains it) does the battery get abnormally hot? This would indicate a short. Maybe try to put a real thin piece of film or something under the bent part of the port to insulate it while charging and see if that fixes it. This might offer a temporary fix until you get a new port. Maybe you could spend some time learning how to solder! I had to fix a broken port on a wizard a those solder points are friggin' tiny. Hope I could help. Good luck.

this sounds like it makes a lot of sense... I've got big clumsy hands, man I wish I had been more careful... well looks like I'm gonna be out $80! but quick question.. why would the wall charger operate normally while the car charger reverses charge?
Ok where do I begin. I love this phone but it's driving me nuts and that's supposed to be your girlfriend/wifes job. My phone seems to be charging EXTREMELY slow. I have batterystatus installed on my phone and when the phone is charging you see the progress bar moving. I've been charging my phone for about 2 1/2 hours now and I'm only at 57 percent, not even using it or having email come to my phone. I'm coming to the conclusion that my battery is shot and I will have to get a new one. Last night I was using my phone and it was charging by my bed. I wake up this morning and the orange LED is on (indicating that it's charging) I'm like wtf it should be green because I've slept for 8 HOURS! I unhook the phone and the battery is at 0 percent and the phone just shuts off on me. I charge the phone and managed to get it to 25 percent before leaving for work. Right now I have my phone plugged into the wall and its taking forever to charge. Should I reflash my ROM and RADIO again. I've been holding off on buying an extended battery because I'm waiting for Seido 3000 Mah Battery.
It's a cheaper option to reflash before spending the money on a new batt.

i know that some radios will eat up ur battery and cause rapid drainage, however i can't conclude that as no idea what rom/radio u r using. i doubt if flashing new rom is gona help. flash a different compatible radio and c if that helps; if not ur sol and probably need new battery.
peace,
sire
You could try putting the phone in flight mode to rule out a radio problem. Assuming no running programs in memory I would conclude a battery or charging circuit issue. I assume both mains charger and USB have been tried.
Ensure battery contacts are clean and the contacts on the phone.
You could try the wiggling the battery on and off the phone contacts method as used for the RLOD issue, just in case the charging circuit needs a kick start. The only note of caution here is that there are two cases (to my knowledge) of this trick possibly causing the rasdio to fail. So if I was trying this I would certainly have it in flight mode first - it is afterall a very crude method of forcing pulses of charge through the circuit.
Mike
I've been using Schaps 4.31 (only rom I have ever flashed, very satisfied with it)
Radio: 1.27.15.32
Problem just started 2 days ago. I tried plugging into another outlet thinking that maybe there was a problem with the outlet I was using and the same thing happens.
I feel like my kaiser is on life support, it hurts. I have to keep it plugged in to have it not die on me. I bought this from a friend 3 months ago for $250 but my Carrier AT&T and my EMPLOYER will not replace it because you can't have a transfer in warranty if you buy it from a friend. I think it's BS but w/e. If not I would have sent it in and got a refurbished one. Any other ideas
Hi gqstatus0685
I had an issue like this years ago. I had no friends who had the same phone so I took it into a store to test it.
You will need YOUR phone / battery AND charger and try it as follows:
1. THEIR charger with YOUR battery (if it works your charger may be broken but your battery is probably fine - if it doesnt work your battery or phone could be at fault)
2. THEIR charger with THEIR battery (this should work - if it doesnt your phone may be faulty)
3. YOUR charger with THEIR battery (again this should work, if not, your charger is probably at fault)
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers

First off, let me state that if you are having possible battery issues where you can't charge, I'd be VERY careful of trying to flash anything else. During the flashing process the phone will not charge. So if the battery goes dead during the minute or so it takes to do this, you will probably brick your device (or at best, not have a bootable phone that will not charge anymore since it can't boot).
This does sound like a hardware issue though. Either your charging circuit is shot, or your battery has died... Definetly try out zippyioa's advice to try to determine what isn't working.
BTW: Does it charge better or differently with USB cable vs the wall charger?
Also since you mention having BatteryStatus installed, turn on the indicator that shows the power. When its charging, what does it show for mA? When its not charging, what does this show?
All of a sudden my phone started to charge again. It charges very slow with wall power kind of like the way it's supposed to charge when connected to USB. Quoate me if I'm wrong but USB charge is slower than wall charge. I noticed that the Orange indicator will be lit noting that it's charging but then all of a sudden the indicator disappears and I have to unhook USB and re-plug it again. That's probably the reason why it's dead when I wake up in the morning. I don't touch the cable or move anything it just stops charging. I also noticed that when I get a missed call, SmS, MMS message it will stop charging unless I dismiss the messages. I haven't really confirmed this but I will. Thanks for the advice guys. You guys are the best.
I'm glad you are up and running again. These things do come and go occassionaly.
You are correct with your view on charging. A USB charge from my PC takes much longer than my wall charger.
Seems odd that your phone stops charging if you get an SMS.
It sounds like something is definitely wrong - a re-flash MAY help BUT as mfrazzz said above I would be very careful as a lack of power during a flash could cause MAJOR issues for you.
Have you managed to get the power back up to 100% yet?
If so, does it hold charge when you unplug it?
If not, what happens if you leave it on charge (I would put in flight mode as Mike suggested above to avoid call/SMS interuptions)
Cheers

If the light ghoes out after charging awhile, then you have most likely damaged the USB port with clumsy hands while trying to reset. Take a look at the USB Port. If it is even slightly curved or lower on the right side even by only a mm. then I'm right. This can cause a bad connection & occasionally can be fixed by gently bending at back into shape. HTC uses two different USB ports on the Kaiser, this is easier to fix on the open ended type, but because it is weaker, it's also easier to break, so be careful.
By default the USB port pin block is arrow straight.
My usb port was f**** up, I bent it back into place and it charges now.
I installed battery meter and when not plugged in I'm displaying:
6% I guess that's CPU usage
29.8 degrees/84 degree Fahrenheit have no idea what that is
87mA It fluctuates the lowest I've seen it was at 60 mA/Highest being 437mA
I'm going to add that my Kaiser has the HTC home plugin and battery meter. I only have one push email acct for my GMAIL. I don't get alot of emails on there. Mostly ones I send myself like files and such. No programs running in the background.
UPDATE**
Ok my phone has been charging all night. I wake up this morning and the charging indicator is orange when it should be green. I unhook the phone and Boom phone turns off. My phone is completely dead. I've been charging my phone for a while now (4-5 hours) and my phone is stuck at 57% does not move up. I'm leaning toward a battery problem. I'm going to put my phone in flight mode to further confirm.

That doesn't sound too good!
Have you tried the tests I suggested above (using store charger/battery)?

I forgot to add and I'm sorry that about a month ago I had my wall charger in my pocket and it fell into the toilet. I still works maybe thats' what's causing the prob. It was working fine after I dried it off and let it sit.
LOL, I would bet a lot of money that is your problem, try a new AC adapter before you buy a new battery.
yeah I'll try to buy another one and see if that fixes my problem. I mean why would it happen now all of a sudden. By the way I just happened to walk by the toilet and it fell in. I had it in my hoody pocket. Don't keep things there they fall easily like my first Kaiser..RIP 2007-2007

Thats definitely not good! Even if it dried out fully the water could have partially damaged the internal circuits. It may have taken time for the charger to go completely.
As I have suggested several times, you need to try another charge/battery!
Do you have a car charger or a friend with the same phone?
Zippyioa
Yeah. I have a car charger I bought from Ebay. Was hesitant on trying since I heard they fry phones. Tomorrow morning I'll go to store and test out my battery and plug. Hopefully it works. Wish me luck
hi
everything 'was' okay with my N6 until I let the battery level slip right down to 2-3 %.
I went to charge it and now... nothing.
When I plug it in all I am getting is the 'empty battery' screen and, although I have used different chargers/cables the problem is still there.
I have had no issues with charging ect, even had a battery fitted a few months back to keep the phone in good shape.
I can (sometimes) access the fastboot screen but when I try to go into 'recovery' all I get is back to the 'empty battery' screen.
Any help out there?
This could be a variety of things. But, let's start with battery related.
If the battery is in good shape but completely depleted, then it's a bear to recharge. Try plugging it into a computer USB port for a few hours. For some reason, the factory turbo charger doesn't seem to recover from this state. If you have a wireless (inductive) charger, use that.
When charging, does the red LED come on? That is the only reason it was there from the git go. It communicates charging when the battery is really dead. If not, this might have something to do with the side buttons. If they are goofed, or the ribbon cable to them is damaged or disconnected, the battery won't charge.
thanks for taking the time to reply.
I left the phone plugged in overnight with no change but when I picked it up it started charging.
It went to 5% then stopped, I waited a few minutes and it started charging again... this time to 10%.
This pattern has increased during the day and i'm happy to say that with one xable it continues to charge.
No idea why but meh, i'm not complaining (much!).
Hopefully, I can nurse it through to October and then decide if I will purchase the XL 2 (headphone socket is going to be a must for me... if not, no more Google phones)
Sounds like a wonky USB port. A wireless charger might make life less stressful. Maybe you know someone who had one where you could test.
You might try cleaning the USB port.
