So those that have a Vivid how has the battery life been? HTC has been getting a bad wrap for that.

Its bad not as bad as the Inspire but bad.
RE: Battery Vivid Life
Mine has been absolutely horrid. With moderate use I'm lucky if it lasts 3 hours. To be honest, though, I didn't let it charge completely when I first got it - I was too excited. I'm actually recalibrating it now in hopes of improving it.

3 hours? Meh, that isn't normal at all.

Getting great battery life, probabably about the same if not slightly better than I got with my iPhone4. Definaletly the best switch I've made.

flash kernel/rom or decrease display light to low and slap a anti-glare film on there..
I got mine this afternoon. I had an Infuse 4G and traded it in for a Vivid. According to my Battery Monitor Widget after 3 hrs 48 mins (battery was fully charged) I'm at 86%. I am using Juice Defender Ultimate.
Yet another battery life thread...

My battery life is quite a bit better than even the GS2 I had for a short while. I don't even know what the low battery alert looks/sounds like.

The notification light blinks yellow, and a big battery image and a message pop up on the screen when the battery level hits 10%, then again at 5%. It's pretty obvious. Also, the phone shuts down some background functions such as data syncing to conserve battery power.
Full on data streaming of my podcast or Rdio on Hspa drains my battery in 5 hours or so. With sporadic web browsing in there, just listening to cached music and podcast I stretch it past 8 hours. Better then my desire by 2/3 hours

Yeah, I thought my GS2 was good, but this is definitely better, especially considering LTE.
I finally ran it down to low battery the other day because an app ran away with my processor and drained my battery in the background. It did this in my locker while I was at the gym. When I finally pulled it out of my pants, it was super hot and down 20% lower than usual for that time of day. I restarted the phone and still managed to make it through the rest of the day and night before it died, but just barely.
Runaway apps is one of the things I have always hated about android, but that was the only time it happened since I bought the phone, so I can live with it.

Yeah, I'd read reviews that the battery life wasn't spectacular - but this is downright confusing! Do you think I ruined it by just using right out of the box without letting it do a few charge cycles (again I was TOO excited, the most excited I'd ever been about a phone)?

So i am an atrix 2 who is within my 30 day period and thinking about returning my phone for the vivid (can't afford a one x). I am wanting to know if any of you regret your choice in getting the vivid and if there are any cons that I should know about before jumping in.
Sent from my MB865 using XDA
The Vivid is way better than the Atrix 2, I have had it before. Plus the vivid is running ICS, big plus. I would advise going to an at&t store and trying it out. But I would make the switch if it was me.

Is the battery life comparable?

No regrets, but had I known better, I would have waited for the One X.
Sent from my HTC Velocity 4G X710s using XDA Premium App
I would say battery is better, due to ics and sense. I myself am going to get the One X in the next few days, I am within my 30 days and I got some extra cash.

The Vivid is my first Android phone. I did a lot of research about Android phones, before i decided on the Vivid. Since i'm an AT&T customer(long time), the choice was clear.I would definitely get another Vivid, if mine were lost or stolen.

I very well may return the Atrix 2 and continue to use my Inspire until the price of the One X comes down a little bit. Still undecided at this point.
I have both Atrix 2 (work phone) and Vivid (personal phone).
Personally, I prefer Vivid, no questions asked!
I love the clarity of the Atrix 2's screen.
The Vivids screen is really clear, and vivid, lol.

I would never get the Vivid again. It's a good phone but the battery life is just horrible. If you don't care about that, get it.
I have my other line upgrade-ready but still won't get the one x. My Vivid with the 3400 mah extended battery kiks the One's @ss, plus I need my sdcard. If this Vivid gets broken or stolen I will definitely get another one.

If you still have the Vivid and still having issues with the battery life with various ROMs, you could check out WildChild's latest ROM as he somehow has really extended the battery life. I am currently THOROUGHLY impressed as I haven't had the need to reach for my back up batteries.

Thanks for that. I haven't tried that ROM. I will probably take a look today.
i love my vivid i have 2 one as a backup and 1 for personal use i would recommend getting the black one phone is great, i would highly recommend unlocking the bootloader and using Holic's rom Have fun with your vivid!
if I had the opportunity to swap this phone for another, I would, but I don't know what handset I would go for, ultimately this device has everything I want out of a device, physically I hate the battery cover as I am constantly pulling it off whilst getting the phone out of my pocket, and it slips up infront of the camera lense inside cases all the time.
After this device I'm pretty sure that I am done with HTC, I'll probably look at a samsung offering next time, maybe even the next Nexus.
Ever since I began flashing roms I've been having horrible battery life on them even worse than stock.... What is going on?

Are you letting the ROMs settle in and rebuild cache...
Or are you crackflashing?

Cool... new ROM... awesome... wow... 5 mins and I lost 10% battery...
Better flash back... oh wait... another new ROM... let's try that...
WHEEEEEEEEE
thats crackflashing

Lol that made me laugh x) thanks for the definition

Also, read the threads for the roms. A few of them have battery drain issues that have been extensively documented within the threads. There are several posts saying "don't use build xxxxx use build yyyyy instead". For me, battery life has been pretty good using PAC that I built myself.
My favorites are Lightwieght over on rootz, stock rom, or stockish by ess.boyer. All with Kozmik's stockish kernel. I know that I could get better battery life with Holic's and faux kernel, but the lag and stuttering bothers me.
Every time I charge up my phone its gets to 96 percent stays there for a bit then jumps straight to 100 percent. This happens on both custom ROMs and stock ROMs. Should I be concerned?

Mine does this at times too.. after a random reboot from 23% it will jump to 55% I believe from not calibrating the battery.
Even after calibrating it still does this

Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
What is the 80 percent wall? So many terms I don't know x)
Sent from my PACMAN HTC Raider on the Rogers Wireless Network
According to what I've read...
After a number of charge cycles... 500... comes to mind...
your li-on battery starts to deteriorate... eventually settling at about 80% of its total charge...
That's the big deal with the nex4 battery... its some polymer that's good for like 800 charge cycles...
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
So what your saying is I should buy a new battery?
Sent from my PACMAN HTC Raider on the Rogers Wireless Network
I dunno... if the little bit of loss is important?
It might fix your problem?
I was just sharing what I read...
Sent from my Vivid 4G using Tapatalk 2
You might also be able to use better battery stats and fix a wake lock issue...
Or it could also have to do with the way android charges the battery to keep from overcharging...
I don't really mind it so I'll stick with my battery for probably another year then get another one

One question! Today i decided to charge my phone with its original charger for the first time! I plugged in the charger and after 20 mins or so i smelled like something was burning! Went to check the charger and it was halfway melted but the phone was still showing like it was charging! I disconnected it immediately and continued charging it with another charger! Now after fully charged my battery drops like a stopwatch! I wanted to ask a question ! Has anything happened to the phone or it is just a coincidence??

Well if it still charges then it's ok. I had a similar issue but it cooked the USB port on the phone end. Give it a few full charge and discharge cycles. If the battery is draining quick then I'd do a warranty job

Battery seems ok now after a day! Same screen on time and everything seems ok! Guess htc have implemented a safety mechanism on chargers end to protect the phone!
