Just got a bit of apple pie on mine but, no worries, easily wiped off the gorilla glass. Bit of spit required though.

I dont reckon it will be that long personally. This is there Major Flagship device and they want to keep up and improve there reputation with it. With the One X it took ages admitedly but then i dont think HTC had there priorities straight with that handset!
So, c'mon HTC. lets hop im kinda right or even close.

Interesting X phone rumors

Sounds promising. Updates from motorola? Not google? Stock android? Is google going to skin there own software. This would all make sense if its true. It kind of fits in the mold of the nexus program rumors but instead of any company making a nexus phone.... Motorola will build a custom phone for you. I wonder if this is there idea to kill the nexus phones completely.

I seriously doubt that both of these can be true:
1) The phone will be shown off at I/O in May and released in June.
2) It will replace the Nexus line.
It seems to me that the X Phone cannot do both of those. In the past, Google hasn't been quite as greedy with its Nexus line as OEMs are with their skinned lines. If the X Phone is to replace the Nexus line, it will not be available until ~October, around a year after the N4's release. To release a phone that is set to replace the Nexus line only a half-year after the N4 would not go over very well with most people. I don't think I am the only one disgusted by Samsung releasing the GS4 9-10 months after its GS3 release or the new rumor that HTC plans to abandon the Droid DNA in favor of the HTC One on Verizon (which I also think will ultimately turn out to be untrue).
Swap-able hardware? BS.
Or the device is gonna be huge. Memory/CPU/GPU are a SOC (System-on-a-chip), meaning the entire kit and caboodle is a single piece soldered to the board. Even IF they got a supplier to manufacture multiple SOC variations, it would end up being more expensive at the cheapest option than to just load it up with the highest end one available by default, thanks to tooling/bulk purchases.

Well most rumors say that it won't be announced at the i/o so both can be true. I don't see a new phone getting announced at any Google function. I believe that motorola will announce it on there own.

HTC rep

HTC rep came by today. I asked her about the 4.2.2 update and she said sprint and att wont get the update till after Verizon releases the HTC one. Verizon paid HTC for 4.2 on launch for their release exclusively. She also stated that because of Verizon's deal the other 2 carriers won't be getting the update to test till after the Verizon release. She says from what they've told her in the mettings sprint won't have the ota ready till 6-8 weeks after Verizon launches their device.

man remember when the EVO was the first non-stock android phone to get 2.2? that **** was awesome.
If it's true(and we will never know 100%)..Selling update exclusives? If it's true then to hell with HTC's broke ass..Hope they go under. It's just a phone and it's just a pointless update. But it's the principal. This phone has been out for 4 months now and the latest update did nothing for what matters most(radio)..Screw Sprint and screw HTC...
/GivingAcrap
What does that mean?
Holy friggin crap.
You mean the carriers haven't even tested the 4.2 update yet?
Wtf
I severely doubt that's true. Why the hell would a carrier pay to stop other carriers from just not get an update to a phone they already have? Its not like the average person is going to think "Oh, Verizon got the HTC One 4.2.2 update first, so it must be the best network."
Nobody thinks about the software version while buying a new phone. It is pretty much implied that if you buy a new flagship that it will be updated soon.
And I'm pretty sure the Dev edition (American) would have gotten the update by now if this were the case. Because if Verizon is able to stop HTC from updating its undbranded phones, then either Verizon has WAY to much money, not to mention screwed up priorities, or HTC is a greedy a$$ cheapskate.
Most reps, no matter what company they represent........... repeat rumors they hear from others. Time and time again their words are proven wrong way more often then correct, especially when it come to release info. Lets hope this is the case.
My 2 cents is all!!
And Verizon paid HTC for 4.2 I dont know how all this works but since when does HTC own 4.2 ?. Google get a cut? Sounds hoakie to me.

You're all reacting to, and judging HTC for, a random rumor you heard on a forum from a guy who met a lady who works at HTC (not in the update department) and said "..."
Let's be honest tho, the only perfect HTC device I've noticed was OG EVO. Every other iteration has had a serious issue.
Evo3d: gimmicky camera, bloated slick laggy sense, updates damn neat Non existent! Got murdered by GS2 & EOL in just over a year or before I think.
LTEVO: Ugly plastic back (i liked the design, sense 4 kinda lagged (i liked 4), RADIO FIASCO (worse ever to my knowledge), updates were decent speed tho, & wallpaper bug.
One X: Small ass battery, yellow tint issue, overheating, sorry ass tegra 3, many faulty devices
HTC 1: Gorgeous design, best screen, purple tint camera issue, claims of radio problems (i can't verify), shipped on dated os, 4up camera gimmick.
Personally, I don't think the camera is all that good. I have the people tint issue, & low light pics always blur for me or be mega noised.

See, I wouldn't care so much if we were stuck on 4.2.2 or something. But 4.1.2.....
I wouldn't be surprised if it were true since htc is hard up for money.
I would point out the one thing we are missing from 4.2.2 that we don't have on 4.1.2 but then it would just get ignored

What OS the Galaxy Nexus run? Probably 4.2.
I might get a Moto next time since it is owned by Google, and they might (I hope) concentrate their phones. Not release 10 phones a month. Just a couple a year. And support them. And make them good.
And it seems that only Google is interested in ending the spec war.
I just don't get the thinking behind this. Is this really an exclusive that people in general are going to be impressed by? I can see the ad now... "Introducing the HTC One, now finally available on Verizon with the NEWEST, er... SECOND NEWEST version of Android!"

Any news on 4.4?

I'm assuming no, since I haven't seen anyone talking about it anywhere. I was just curious if anyone had heard anything about an official 4.4 update for our tf701's. I'm sure we'll get one. Who knows when though.

We have only had 4.3 for a little over a month now on this tablet. I doubt we will get it soon but Asus is known to be great with updates. My guess is we will see it around the end of March.
Yeah I reckon another month or 2 and they'll start rolling out. They always seem to do new builds from Feb to April.
My question is..
Will 4.4 be the last update for this device. .

No one knows for sure but a general rule of thumb: each device usually gets about 18 months of updates. Some a little more, some less. The TF701 will most likely get another big OS update after KitKat.

Disgrazia!!!!
what is the itlian sku?
back in dec early jan i was complaining of no jp update.
i mentioned they said no updte was coming and i escalated to manager on issues with device.
anyway they called me back today! lol
like 3 weeks after the update came saying there will be an update for the device late this month.
i asked what version he didn`t know.
then i told him about 5 days after speaking to him i got the 4.3 lol
i don`t think asus know what they are doing. clearly the product manager was made redundant on this device or at least i`d like to think so.
Nvidia released KK for the tegranote. Hopefully this tab is not far off.
I recently had some sort of small update pushed to my TF701. It was not an OS update, clearly, but a firmware update for stability and other stuff. Has anyone else had an update come to their 701? I do have 4.3, which installed as soon as I started using the tablet for the first time.
If I remember correctly an update showed up in settings after doing the first manual update(where you place the zip @ /sdcard)
something tells me that returns and repairs trippled the actual sales number i recon we would be lucky to get an update soon they probably cut all but 1 person who is working on it part time, and moved onto the next product.

Do you honestly believe that? Returns and RMAs are never reported as a sale or considered one in either retail outlets or warehouse fulfillment centers, it's recorded as product loss. There will be an update, and it's likely not going to be too far off.

i think maybe you misunderstood my statement.
I was merely saying that asus got the devices returned so many times that the sales were likely less then the amount of times they got sent in for repair or swapped over.
I idk i think this device is likely doing well. People might be holding off because they don't see a selection of roms. There might have been a rush to get this thing sorted out before Christmas. Idk. Affected the build quality a little. But that was then and this their mainline. Its whats running down the line. So I think quality is what people will get from this point on. Like most new device as was with the xbox,ps4 etc a delay do to quality issues. And then they got sorted. People of course want to see all their favorite roms. So hopefully we see 4.4 soon.

I'm not convinced there is a relationship between sales and number of roms available. Maybe the version of OS supported plays some part? I.e., if this came out with Android 4.4 it would probably sell a lot better.

Understood. But not even a mention for the Infinity Transformer Pad. Supposedly their flagship Tablet. We're pretty much on the back burner. Some of those Padfone releases aren't until the 3rd quarter. Yet they still had a press release
It leaves me to believe, we won't be seeing it until the fall as well . It they would have mentioned in that release, I would feel better about seeing it before the end of the second quarter.

In the end there is absolutely NO ONE that will be able to answer your question, not even the people at Sony. It just depends how fast the programming and optimization goes. Generally tho companies don't refer to months, but to periods when it comes to these things.
Considering a year has 4 quarters, you should expect it in the last 2 months of the first quarter. Aka March/April, or if we're lucky when/if Sony brings out a new device at the end of February.
There is way to much to speculate at this time.
it will be available in mid-February. Wait and see

I thought I seen something on the tv a few months ago that HTC wasn't going to update the desire 510 to their lollipop because they'd rather you spend the money to buy another more expensive phone if you want lollipop... @r3pwn is in the process of building cm12.1 that's basically lollipop but better!
12.1 is not near stable enough for daily use. Anyways, I guess I need to get some money together and put this phone up on eBay because this is ridiculous. HTC just lost a customer. I'm very upset that I gave up a Nexus 4 for this. Oh well. Live and learn. From now on, I'm only buying Nexus/Motorola smartphones.

1 year = 4xQuarters
1 Quarter `= 12/4 = 3 months
So.. when the web site tells HTC is doing Lollipop Update in Q4 it meant to be from Oktober till Decembre

The navigation bar stopped recognizing my touches. I had to use Pie Controls. But not having the bottom little section of my phone was really annoying and instead of having the digitizer replaced, I opted to get this phone instead of keeping a 3 year old phone. Plus the removable battery and expandable memory caught my attention as 8gb was hard to work with, especially with apps being bigger and lollipop using up more space on the N4. Also the GPU was supposedly better. I should've gone with the 2nd gen moto e.
Bad move. I'm heavily considering selling this phone and buying a new digitizer and LCD for the Nexus 4.

You won't get much money for the phone. It's not worth anything really cause once we all figured out that this isn't what HTC claimed no one really wants it now.
