Anyone noticed if you looking in the live view on the camera the refresh lines. I thought maybe it was only with the live view before a snap but it even affects my photos and videos...
I didn't notice thus until today. I attached some photos as an example of what I'm talking about.
The discolorations are added by on he phone on the light where it should be solid white.
On the sheet of paper it should be all white, but yet it's got brown lines going through it???

After doing more research and playing with the camera this only happens when the sensor is letting less light in, this is one of the bugs addressed in the European update as well with all the noise in lower light situations.

Hello, I am experiencing something word with my camera. I'm not really sure if we consider it a hardware problem or something. As you can see, there are purple lines that appear on my pictures.. Why is this? Second question, can I get my phone replaced because of this problem?
P.s. I used to experience this in my blackberry storm 1 after a few years. Attaching photos. 1 st photo was taken with my Note and the second was with my storm.

Do you notice the same banding effect on your phone if you use Gallery or browse the net? In low light conditions the striped effect has been reported by many other Note users - search for "banding" and you'll see what I mean
I do notice the effect but only when in low light - if the screen is set to higher brightness the banding effect goes away. So maybe it is not camera related but more to do with the screen?

Okay, I'll read up on banding later on. I tried turning up the brightness on full and took a test shot and still, there were those lines. I kind of noticed that this banding happens more for whites than low lighting conditions.
Thanks by the way!

Simple test would also be to transfer the photo to your PC and see if it shows banding there? (I am probably wrong but assuming you used screenshot feature of Note to take screen captures?)
PS - don't just say it - hit the Thanks button
Sorry I'm new here. there you go.
Anyway I'm not yet home so have no access yet to my PC. Got to chat and show what's wrong with a photographer friend. he told me that this is a common problem due to the fluorescent light. True enough,I tried some low light shots under a different light bulb and no banding. I was quite convinced and so I'll continue trying to do tests.

Anyone else?
totally agree with you!!
Same here...it seems like when i take pictures inside with a bright light in the back ground the light white washes the pictures. Its like its super sensitive to bright light. Forget using the flash...

Not a problem here, but I had that problem with my Xperia PLAY.

Hey all!
I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. The problem only happens when I take photos in a room that has fluorescent tube lights. I have attached a photo with the issue.
The photo basically has horizontal lines which don't look very attractive

Swift reply! Thanks
I'll try the scene settings next time and see what happens :good:
Set the white balancing setting in the camera to fluorescent instead of auto.

It appears that the frequency in which the fluro flickers is the same as which you phone is sensitive to. Does it show this on the screen while you are composing the shot? If possible to get around it, the most likely options would be to speed up or slow down the shutter speed, you will get this by manually changing the camera modes.
It all depends how the florescent light is being powered. If you use a digital ballast, you won't get the lines.
Last night I was trying to take pics of me dunking and the camera lagged every time there was movement on the phone, but when it was day time it was as good as can be.
Also, I noted that when taking a really up close picture of something, the camera doesn't focus at all...even if you tap it.
Ditto on the same issues... Or maybe that's the way the phone camera is. If anyone with better knowledge could enlighten us if this is normal or not would be greatly appreciated.

It's normal.. It's trying to adjust ISO to allow light in and that takes time which causes the screen to lag.. If you manually adjust the ISO to a specific setting it will not lag nearly as bad as auto in low light.

You should see how much snapchat lags with low light situations on this phone.

If you're referring to the picture moving smoothly as you move, this is normal. I don't think it's iso but rather the shutter being open longer (slow shutter). If you notice, the picture smears while you're moving. This is exactly what happens when the shutter is slow. This phone probably sets the shutter slower than most others to draw in even more light. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have experienced an issue when taking pictures of a city night scene. All the lights get so blurred or over exposed. Is that normal? I have tried different setting but still no dice. How can I take better night scene pictures with my HTC One?
Thanks!

In the top-right of the picture, are those clouds or is that your sensor? Try taking a pic in low light with a plain background and post back.
