So I've installed stock Rom and stock recovery and relocked the bootloader but when I start the phone up it still says development Rom and in fastboot it says tampered. Somethings not right.
Any ideas?

From my understanding it will say Tampered in the bootloader when it is unlocked. If you relock it the bootloader it will say relocked. This is there for HTC to know if the phone was unlocked for warranty stuff. It may also say Tampered because it isn't 100% stock yet. Once you unlock the phone there is no way right now to get back to 100% locked. This will not happen until we get S-Off.

Trying to relock bootloader so I can run the RUU and return to stock. Something went wrong when I flashed a ROM and now get nothing but bootloops. Tried running the fastboot oem lock command in the folder with the unlock code from htcdev, but it says it's already locked. Hboot still says juopunutbear where it should say re-locked. What should I do?

You need to get back to stock hboot...pretty sure you can, but I don't know how to get it back as I stuck with the stock hboot when I s-offed

Could the stock HBOOT img be extracted from the RUU when its running/idle (just like the other partitions?)
And then flashed via Fastboot?
I ended up just flashing back to wcx's recovery and everything started working again. CWM is such crap on this phone. Thanks for the help anyways guys.

I was just wondering, I have the HTC ONE/ M7 and I was trying to root it but was never successful. I unlocked it with the HTCDev website and installed GOO on my phone but thats about as far as I got. Now my phone shows **TAMPERED** and **UNLOCKED** in the HBOOT menu, I was just curious as to how I would get those to go away.
THANKS!
I believe you have to wait for s-off so you can downgrade hboot to remove that message.
Flashing back the stock firmware (RUU) will remove the tampered but it will always say relocked if you locked the bootloader again.
What does S-off mean? Sorry I'm really new to this, I know it's probably a dumb question. Is going back to the factory firmware a long process?

Tampered can be removed when you flash the official RUU.
Relocked cant be as of now. And I have no hopes for it to happen in device's life cycle as well.
So how would I flash it? Is there a general way or is it device specific?

Take a look through this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
When you rooted your phone it added tampered and unlocked in bootloader menu.
If you want to take them out you will have to unroot your phone or wait for s-off (it will fully unlock the phone)
I didn't have the tampered message on my rooted OneX,it must be something new as well as the red warning in booting the phone that it's a dev phone that must not be sold
There is a thread with RUU archive for each device. Check for specific RUU for your specific carrier make or model.
But if you install RUU you will have phone that is as good as stock phone. You will lose root and will have to re-root it.
Dont bother with it unless you have to go back to factory condition.
There are also zipped versions of stock ROMs available so you can try those if you have CWM or TWRP installed successfully.
You dont really need to remove that tampered / unlocked status. It does not hinder your phone in any way. You have already lost your warranty and even if you relock your bootloader and remove Tampered message by flashing factory RUU, your phone will still show RELOCKED message. So point going back unless as I said you must have factory condition phone.
Hi~!
So does this mean the factory will always know that our phones are rooted with S ON?

Yes HTC will know for sure the phone has been tampered with and unless s-off is achieved for the masses which does not involve taking the phone apart then it will always say tampered, unlocked, relocked.
Oh, okay, thank you, my phone has vibrating problems, with the intensity, in some hits, the vibrating just keeps going slowly fading in. I read somewhere that 1.29 fixes this but its isnt out around my region yet and I dont want to flash this 1.29 stock rom to find out its a hardware issue and lose my warranty

Security-Off if what it officially means. Means you can write to the bootloader and mod things
I have a Dev Edition that I flashed CWM recovery on. The bootloader now shows Tampered, (thanks HTC). I see there is a Dev Edition RUU. If I use it to go back to stock, will it leave the bootloader unlocked and will it get rid of the Tampered indicator?

it will still say tampered even if RUU. If you ever unlocked it, itll show tampered unless you get s-off and replace with proper hboot. :crying: To run Ruu you have to relock bootloader. "Fastboot OEM Lock" But again that wont fix the tampered

It came factory unlocked. I'll assume you mean if I ever flashed a custom recovery.

I'm sorry yes. I always do them the at the same time. its one or the other :cyclops:
And actually since its a dev edition, try the ruu. It might have a different outcome. :fingers-crossed: I've never owned a dev edition so i havent tried myself. I thought you had to actually unlock it like the OG nexus, i didnt realize they were unlocked out of the box, Nice to know. If you run the ruu, let me know the outcome please. On every HTC phone i've had that wasnt s-off, tampered stayed no matter what.

S-off the phone
then you can remove tampered and relocked as well.
Do you have to flash hboot before you s on?

No. Check out the revone thread in original development. Seems to be the easier of the two s-off methods.
So before I could get to s-off my phone or flash a custom ROM I figurrd the vibration on my brand new ONE does not work. I did get to unlock bootloader flash twrp and root, now I need to return to %100 stock to return my phone. I flashed back to stock recovery but I still have 'tampered' 'unlocked' bootloader. Can I relock and remove tampered without being s-off? Also if I take latest OTA will that relock me?

You can relock, but it will say "RELOCKED" on the boot screen unless you are s-off.
OTA will not relock. It may not even run being unlocked.
Root, soff, then lock the bootloader using adb commands and Unroot.

There are a couple of tutorials about going back to 100% stock in the General forum. It depends a great deal on what order you do things.
I can't say what Best Buy does with returned phones. All I know is that AT&T never seems to care.
