So before I could get to s-off my phone or flash a custom ROM I figurrd the vibration on my brand new ONE does not work. I did get to unlock bootloader flash twrp and root, now I need to return to %100 stock to return my phone. I flashed back to stock recovery but I still have 'tampered' 'unlocked' bootloader. Can I relock and remove tampered without being s-off? Also if I take latest OTA will that relock me?

You can relock, but it will say "RELOCKED" on the boot screen unless you are s-off.
OTA will not relock. It may not even run being unlocked.
Root, soff, then lock the bootloader using adb commands and Unroot.

There are a couple of tutorials about going back to 100% stock in the General forum. It depends a great deal on what order you do things.
I can't say what Best Buy does with returned phones. All I know is that AT&T never seems to care.

So I've installed stock Rom and stock recovery and relocked the bootloader but when I start the phone up it still says development Rom and in fastboot it says tampered. Somethings not right.
Any ideas?

From my understanding it will say Tampered in the bootloader when it is unlocked. If you relock it the bootloader it will say relocked. This is there for HTC to know if the phone was unlocked for warranty stuff. It may also say Tampered because it isn't 100% stock yet. Once you unlock the phone there is no way right now to get back to 100% locked. This will not happen until we get S-Off.
I was just wondering, I have the HTC ONE/ M7 and I was trying to root it but was never successful. I unlocked it with the HTCDev website and installed GOO on my phone but thats about as far as I got. Now my phone shows **TAMPERED** and **UNLOCKED** in the HBOOT menu, I was just curious as to how I would get those to go away.
THANKS!
I believe you have to wait for s-off so you can downgrade hboot to remove that message.
Flashing back the stock firmware (RUU) will remove the tampered but it will always say relocked if you locked the bootloader again.
What does S-off mean? Sorry I'm really new to this, I know it's probably a dumb question. Is going back to the factory firmware a long process?

Tampered can be removed when you flash the official RUU.
Relocked cant be as of now. And I have no hopes for it to happen in device's life cycle as well.
So how would I flash it? Is there a general way or is it device specific?

Take a look through this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618
When you rooted your phone it added tampered and unlocked in bootloader menu.
If you want to take them out you will have to unroot your phone or wait for s-off (it will fully unlock the phone)
I didn't have the tampered message on my rooted OneX,it must be something new as well as the red warning in booting the phone that it's a dev phone that must not be sold
There is a thread with RUU archive for each device. Check for specific RUU for your specific carrier make or model.
But if you install RUU you will have phone that is as good as stock phone. You will lose root and will have to re-root it.
Dont bother with it unless you have to go back to factory condition.
There are also zipped versions of stock ROMs available so you can try those if you have CWM or TWRP installed successfully.
You dont really need to remove that tampered / unlocked status. It does not hinder your phone in any way. You have already lost your warranty and even if you relock your bootloader and remove Tampered message by flashing factory RUU, your phone will still show RELOCKED message. So point going back unless as I said you must have factory condition phone.
Hi~!
So does this mean the factory will always know that our phones are rooted with S ON?

Yes HTC will know for sure the phone has been tampered with and unless s-off is achieved for the masses which does not involve taking the phone apart then it will always say tampered, unlocked, relocked.
Oh, okay, thank you, my phone has vibrating problems, with the intensity, in some hits, the vibrating just keeps going slowly fading in. I read somewhere that 1.29 fixes this but its isnt out around my region yet and I dont want to flash this 1.29 stock rom to find out its a hardware issue and lose my warranty

Security-Off if what it officially means. Means you can write to the bootloader and mod things
My HTC One is actually an AT&T version and I successfully turned it into a Google Play edition with 4.4 Kit Kat. I now need to turn it back into the AT&T version but everything is failing and I relocked the bootloader and it will not unlock again even though the Unlock_code.bin says it was successful when ran. It never goes to the unlock bootloader splash screen on the phone to actually unlock it. Somehow it's a mess. I still have s-off. Is there a bootloader unlock via s-off? I'd like to flash the AT&T stock recovery and relock it and flash the AT&T 4.3 rom if possible. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

This procedure requires the phone to be rooted.
is there anyway to either:
a) Root the phone with a locked bootloader if you have s-off?
or
b) unlock the bootloader without using S-off without using HTCDev?
basically I dont want to loose all my settings and date and re-install everything.

I don't know about not losing anything but I did manage to get mine back to being at&t again thankfully. You definitely have to change the cid and I used the decrypted stock at&t rom from the htc1guru website. I'm pretty sure it's the same as the ruu.exe downloaded directly from HTC. My phone flushed the hboot and then flushed the rest of it in ruu mode. I still have s-off and I'm leaving my bootloader locked. I bet it will unlock now though.

you can use this to easily lock/unlock at any time using custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527194 (for TWRP need 2.6.3.3 or higher)

Thank you. I think it will go back to unlocking now that I'm back on an att rom. I don't like that Google edition 4.4 rom. It takes away beats audio even though it says it still has it.

I have one of the bad camera sensors, and rather than live with it I'm hoping HTC can fix it.
I unlocked the bootloader on my device, and I was wondering: would HTC refuse service for this? Also, should I go S-Off and remove the "tampered with" message?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Well crap. Thanks for the prompt response!
I assume that also means I should revert to the stock ROM. Or would the Google Play ROM be be OK?

ReLOCKED isn't really recommended
S-off is usually okay, but RELOCKED, hmmm.
Might wanna look at my guide.

Now I'm not sure what to do. I'm working on S-Off right now to remove the tampered. Aside from flashing a stock ROM (I'll assume for now Google Play edition is fine), is there anything else I should do?

Honestly, you should go completely stock (with the software that came with your phone, i.e dont leave it gpe if it was sense based etc). Look @nkk71's guide to going stock, all the info you need is there
You can leave it s-off if you please but i would definitely LOCK the bootloader instead of RELOCKING since ive heard/read a few cases where they didn't fix the device since it was re-locked making it void of its warranty. Now personally, i would even go as far as S-ON, just to be on the safe side. I can attest that ive s-offed with rumrunner, s-oned, and then s-offed again with rumrunner (on my device) and it worked so you can s-off again when you get the device back.
Then once you get the device back you don't have to start all the way from the beginning with htc-dev, just use the same unlock code you got the first time(if you don't have it saved you can check the email it was sent in), and then proceed from the last step that was flash it in adb to unlock your phone again
Yeah sorry I meant relock as in lock bootlosder so on top it says *LOCKED*

Are you running a custom ROM or stock ROM? And if it is stock ROM, does version are you running and does it match your current firmware? Please post a fastboot getvar all and remove your Serial No and IMEI
Because you are S-ON, you cannot LOCK the bootloader again, instead it will read RELOCKED. You need to be S-OFF to change the lock status
You may also get a TAMPERED message when you lock the bootloader using the command fastboot oem relock
If all is running stock I would chance it and send it in for repair, as at the end of the day this is a hardware fault not brought around by unlocking your bootloader

not 100% true, dont send your phone back relocked, you will need to do whatsteve says and get s-off, then flash an early RUU and HBOOT before locking the bootloader and going s-on, otherwise you risk the tampered flags coming back, the phone must be 100% stock.
HTC will refuse a warranty repair in any other condition, they will blame you on the grounds that since you unlocked the bootloader you could of done anything with the phone like flashed an unsupported kernal and overclocked etc, the camera issue is caused by overheating.

From my own experiencea friend sent it in with an unlocked boot loader and they repaired it. But they may have just been lucky.
I wouldn't return to s on on any bootloader later than 1.54, as when you do the writesecureflag command the phone will display a TAMPER DETECTED message and then you're back to square one
Best thing to do would be achieve s off using sunshine
Downgrade hboot to earlier version e.g. 1.44
flash an earlier RUU
Use revone to reset the status of the bootloader to LOCKED, ensure tamper message is not there
Then, if you really must, run the writesecureflag command. That's how I've done it before, and after hboot 1.54 you will def get the tamper detected message
I always leave my phone s off tho

you need s-off so you can downgrade using a ruu, lock the bootloader and turn back s-on.
Try sunshine s-off and then follow nkk71's guide linke in my signature.
