Moderators, please don't move this thread. I can't ask this question over at the AT&T forum because it applies to ROMs present in this section.
As many of you know, we AT&T users are still on 1.26 and have been having trouble with hardware-related issues such as reduced sensitivity of capacitive buttons, not being able to connect to peripherals like the HTC Media Link, and blocked Hotspot (Tethering) application.
The international versions contained in the dev section here fix this for us, but it seems that using a WWE version will disable LTE for AT&T users. Can someone correct me if I'm mistaken? It was my hope that there might be a ROM in the dev section which addressed all of this while maintaining LTE support.
Also, if we were to flash a WWE stock ROM from here, is there a way to get back the AT&T 4G flag? That might sound silly, but the closest we can get to a stock AT&T ROM but regain the functionality we're missing is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your input!

Hey all. Great site, I'm just learning my way around my kaiser with all of the great info here.
I had a question I hope someone could answer. I am currently using an unlocked Kaiser on Softbank, but EMOBILE came out with the Kaiser also. The emobile kaiser is on 1.7ghz while the unlocked one i have is on 2.0ghz(please correct me if i'm wrong).
I understand popping in a emobile sim won't work b/c of the difference in hertz. So my question is, is it possible to change the hertz to 1.7Ghz w/some sort of software (ROM or radio etc) or is the hertz hardware/chipset dependant?
Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie

htc Japan Rom
Hmmm. I have not been able to flash this rom successfully. I would like to install the original rom now. Does anyone have the original Japan eMonster eMobile HTC Kaiser Rom? It is not on HTC website.
can somebody help me??
i have problem with emobile s11ht.
this device only work on 1700MHz freq.. can it change to 2100MHz??
coz i can't use the 3G HSDPA by now...
You guys need to flash a radio from Emobile. Either flash an OEM rom from Emobile, or a dumped radio from one.
Since it's so new and rare, there isn't any users with that here, yet since you're the only place in the world using 1700MHz UMTS (besides T-Mobile USA's inactive 3G).
is it mean that there still a chance to flash the radio freq to 2100MHz??

If you don't want to be on Emobile's network ever again, you should then try flashing one of the popular roms on the Kaiser ROM forum.
They all will give you 850/1900/2100MHz radio support, but I don't think you can ever go back to Emobile again unless you can flash an Emobile rom/radio again.
How can we dump our Radios and rebuild it again?

Thanks for the hint. I just bought one of these guys 2 days ago. Haven't done so much. Only Hard-SPL it from the Kaiser Team.
It worked with out a glitch. But, before doing the obvious, turning the JPN version to ENU, I need to make sure that just in case I can resotre that piece of machine back to it's condition.
Question is: How can we (there are some people here in the same situation) dump the rom and have it ready for a re-flash?
Thanks for any advice.
We need a Emobile Radio ROM
Well.
I'm kind of getting annoyed. According to what I have read here, there is a bad chance of bricking the phone if we just flash the phone with the aviable ROM's that we see around here.
I manage to know that, since I come from a different background and I usually take the precaution of reading the technical specifications. So, oh yes, Emobile works with W-CDMA in the 1700 Ghz range.
I definitely need to flash this phone to English (or Spanish) but after backing up the Radio ROM.
Now, how about this:
What if, when cooking a new ROM, we don't include the radio in KaiserKitchen?
I mean, when it comes to compile the packages and all that, what if we omit the Radio File?
In other words: If we omit the radio rom config file from the flash image, will a flashed phone will work?
Any clue?
Today I bought my eMonster after reading these forums for a few weeks.
So far here is where I am at:
KAIS140 MFG
SPL-1.0.Olipof
CPLD-8
Radio 1.71.09.01 (Original was 1 63 08 26)
Currently running RUU_Kaiser_WM6.1_ASIA_WWE_3.10.707.1.YK_Test
Obviously these questions will have some Japanese localization but any help would be great.
Currently I can make calls and be heard and hear the other party.
I have wifi and 3G access access.
However the problems I have are as follows.
The camera no longer works. It simply gives me a black screen.
Audio works when sliding open the phone but if I try to run media player the audio then stops working completely.
It seems there were several applications that came with the original rom that are now lost including the GPS program.
Also it seems that although the OS is in English now input itself seems limited to chinese.
Any tips from users who have an Emonster or can point me in the right direction would be great.
Thank you so much for this great wealth of information.

I have been searching all week and can find no info on anyone having successfully rooted the Sprint (CDMA) Hero.
I'm sorry to post here but it seems to be the most active android modder board, has any Dev managed to acquire a CDMA hero and is any Dev attempting to root it?
Is this just wishful thinking on my part? I sincerely hope not!
After a week playing with I can say it blows the G1 away! Battery life, speaker quality, form factor, etc, far and away a better more reliable device.
A word of caution to anyone going from the TMobile G1 to the Sprint Hero... DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BACK UP YOUR APPS OR DATA ON THE G1 & THEN RESTORE THEM ON YOUR HERO! YOU WILL LOOSE NETWORK CONNECTION TO SPRINT! I suspect that apps & data downloaded & used thru the TMobile network on your G1 are unable to use a CDMA connection and attempt to modify your system to access the TMobile network. This breaks connectivity and only a wipe has fixed it (hard wipe using the ##786# menu + your individual reset code from Sprint). Your best hope is to re-download your apps. The good news is your download history should show most of your apps and allow you to download them from your CDMA Hero.
Moderators, my sincere apologies if you feel I posted in the wrong forum. I felt it best to reach the active modders I am aware of and offer some transfer advice for those making the switch.
Thanks all,
-Salamandar

you're probably in the right forum, since rooting is development. but i do think you should check out the hero forum just in case there's stuff about the Sprint Hero
I dont know much about it but maybe someone can clarify things...now i know cdma is what sprint, verizon, metro, cricket, etc use. Is cdma a hardware type thing or is it a network type thing? And can the sprint hero img be ported and modified to the g1 and somehow allowing it to be flashed to a metro/cricket type service?? Just questions im curious about...
thanks for the response, I agree and posted a different post related only to the Sprint Hero on that forum (hopefully i did not abuse the forum rules, if I did, I understand if a Dev locks or deletes one).

I may be wrong about this but to my knowledge, CDMA is a Network as well as Hardware and software type of thing. When Android was developed it was not capable of running on a CDMA network, one of many things added when Cupcake (firmware 1.5) was relased. CDMA is a network type so GSM only devices will not work on it and as far as I can tell devices built for CDMA are built specifically for that. There is some sort of hardware in there that allows the device to connect to the CDMA network that GSM only devices dont have. (I may be wrong about this though, I also believe it has to do with the radio).
Finally, I dont know what metro or cricket is and I also didn't know that the G1 was on those networks but if it is, I would assume that if those are CDMA networks its not the same G1 that was released on TMO and differers internally in that it can function on a CDMA network. If that is the case then its probably possible. If not then no.
Dont quote me on any of this. I'm not saying this from an experts point of view just from what I have concluded based on what I know about network types, devices and Android.

CDMA is hardware AND network... not software.

it is now. but originally it was only built for GSM... only T-Mobile's GSM most likely lol
this is really dumb but has some tried one click root yet? or will that mess up the recovery image leading to a possible brick. becase its running 1.5 not 1.6 right?
I one click rooted my friends g1 the other day and it works fairly well. Don't think you can use the gsm hero root method to root a cdma hero.
Just fyi attempted to root the Sprint Hero using the one click method, but was unsucessful. I couldn't seem to back up the stock image. Any advice?

it would probably be best to wait till more people get their hands on the sprint hero. the more people that get their hands on it, the faster way a rooting method that works will be found
Hello..
I am gettign a good deal on a Sprint TP2 .... I am currently usign a Kaiser(Tilt) and love it... I am unlocking the Sprint TP2 so I can use it with a GSM providor.... I was wondering if someone can reccomend a hopefulyl unbranded Rom & radio combo that are known to work with this phone.. The gsm carrier I will be using is called Einstein PCS... But I think any one that works well for AT&T will be good for me as I roam i ntheir networks often.. I am not worried about the 3G speeds as my carrier doesn;t offer that, and I will usually just use Wifi anyways.. Thank you in advance...
Lately lots of people ask this question, but no one want to answer I think you must flash some Roms and choose the best in your opinion

Firstly, DO NOT flash a GSM ROM, or use any of the GSM unlockers. Head over to the Rhodium CMDA forum and use the tools there.
Secondly, just pick the ROM that you like the look of, there are some in the CDMA forum and a few more on PPCGeeks IIRC. It's not that hard, if you don't like the look of a ROM, change it, if you don't like any, put the stock ROM back on.

Sorry if this has been asked and talked about before but haven't been able to find anything. I have contacted both att and samsung on the upgrade/update for the att us Captivate. I have contacted att twice and samsung 1 time. It seems that both times att responded they had to contact samsung. So i'm beging to think the us update is all samsung. I'm sure this is old news but now to my question. And maybe someone can answer it. How big of a diffrence is there between the US and Canada phones? What i'm not understanding is how one has the update and the other doesn't if there isn't any diffrence. My thought is maybe with alot of problems that i have heard about with Rogers upgrade that samsung is trying to weed out problems before releasing to us. This last email i got back from ATT sounds like they don't have a clue on whats going on. but the one from Samsung was sure of the update just couldn't give a time frame. Thanks for reading and again am sorry if this has been talked about before, also hope i'm posting it in the right place.
I live in canada, updated to froyo didnt experience any problems aside from the browser memory leak issue... but thats it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Samsungs roll in the update is pretty much over they did their part and sent working code to at&t.from my understanding at&t is simple playing the blame game.
I am not surprised that they seem to know nothing.its a big company with a large number of devices they can't know all the details about all of them. We well know when we know.I don't expect it for another month or so. not like we need it anyway with all of the great roms out there
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Each has its own carrier specific customization to do. For example, with Rogers 2.2, wi-fi tether is linked to a Rogers specific apk so that it can check your Rogers account (to make sure you paid for tethering) before it let you do it.
Since AT&T won't have official Android Mobile HotSpot tethering out until Feb 13, it makes sense that Captivate won't see 2.2 update until after that (so that it can contain AT&T specific tethering check app).
So, it is not as simply as who to blame. Each carrier has different demands and feature request. Samsung has to implement those demanded features then release to carrier for testing.
Thanks...
Answered a few things i had questions on. I know theres a bunch of roms out and good things can happen but i'm also aware of the bad things with modin the phone with custom roms. I did my motorola backflip with sorta no problems but when i did run into problems it was easy enuf to reflash it sounds like theres alot more to flashing a rom to it then just rooting and flashing. So think i will wait a bit longer. If it comes down to things will try my hand at the roms.
Is there a working gingerbread/honeycomb port? I just got this tab, and I don't know what to install. I didn't get it through sprint, and am not using the 3g part of it so if something breaks that, its no big deal. I am not sure where to look, the threads over at the development section seemed to be mostly for GSM devices and I don't know the effect of flashing something like tat on a CDMA devices. Any link to a noob guide, or information would be very helpful.
