In this thread I am going to show you how to revert back to ICS with GB before you update in 6 steps!
Step 1: Be on a custom rom
Step 2: Put the PH39IMG file on the root of your sd card.
Step 3: Go to Hboot(power+volume down) and it will automatically start it up
Step 4: Go back to Hboot(Power+volume down) and Relock your boot-loader with this command: fastboot oem lock and it will now say relocked.
Step 5: Go the the check for updates under Settings-check for updates and download+install the OTA ICS update. Note: your phone will reboot and show the ICS ROM installing.
Step 6: let the phone do it's thing and in about 10 minutes you will be back to Stock ICS
If you want to unlock the boot-loader again find Hansoon's 2000 all in one toolkit and get the unlock code if you lost it from the htcdev website.
PH39IMG File location: http://d-h.st/yPN
All In One root kit: http://www.mediafire.com/file/p2xf624yjdcopt0/Vivid_All-In-One_Kit_v2.1.rar
If this method has helped you please comment. Please also consider a donation to me as I uploaded both of these and had to use my time to search for them plus find out this method to return back to stock ICS.

If you have the correct RUU for your phone and you want to return to stock ICS, then you can follow the directions inside the (BEFORE YOU BEGIN) section of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
It is necessary to be able to use fastboot from your computer to complete the steps. If you are on Windows 8.1, follow my guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-vivid/help/fastboot-windows-8-1-t2993559
Would it be possible for some to post step by step instructions and/ or pictures of reverting back to stock recovery so I can install ota updates. When i run fastboot.exe, the black cmd window appears then it closes. Can somebody please help me with this. Thank You

Read all the steps in "going back to stock" part and if you don't understand which step, then ask

Have to return my HK M8 to Sprint in the next few days and want to make sure i'm covering my ass when I go to the store.
1. Downloaded and flashed the stock HK rom through OMJ's(man is a hero in the android community)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
2. Going to mask s-on, non tampered, and locked bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708721
3. Flash stock recovery
4. Done.
Please correct me if I am missing something or messed up a step. Also if anyone has information on the stock HK recovery, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi
I bought a at&t htc one (used)
It came with custom recovery and s-off
I want to take it back to stock rom.
I tried ruu but it always fails during the sending step.
Could you please provide me detailed steps for this?
I followed this guide
http://www.htc1guru.com/guides/return-stock-guide/
What error do you get when it fails?
Hey all,
I'm trying to unroot my Sprint HTC one. It's currently running software version 5.03.651.3 and android version 4.4.2. I was planning to flash a rom on it, but I ended up just putting a custom recovery. Now I want to unroot, so I relocked the bootloader, and flooded qbking77's video, however it wasn't able to go though. Any ideas on how to unroot this phone? Do I need to unlock the bootloader, and flash the stock recovery? or is there something i'm missing.
Thanks
You didn't say exactly what the issue was, but I wrote a guide a while back that walks through the steps to RUU. Feel free to follow it and follow up here or in that thread with issues.
