Rogers kernel - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been looking to compile the Rogers kernel source for the One from HTCdev.
I do not have the knowledge to make it flash-able so I am hoping there is someone who can help by doing this for me?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Tried putting this into backup on the mem card in clockwork but when I try to get it to install I get a message:
MD5 mismatch!
what am I doing wrong???.
I'm not sure, i actually got this from someone else. It works fine on my wildfire, and it was'nt even created on mine either.
Here is the original link i got from the guy who gave me the backup, try this.

All I did was mount my sd and dragged and dropped it in to backup in clockwork folder (unzipped so that it was the same as my puzzle backup).
I then rebooted my phone into recovery and tried to do the backup through nan. Is that the way I should have done it? or did I need to do a flash first?
Thats how i did it myself, just go into recovery and restore it using nandroid options. I did do a wipe first though,to clear any crap from the previous rom.
Try the new link, hopefully that will work, i will dump it on my card again and try it myself too.
I have just updated the link in the first post with a backup that worked fine, i have tried it myself 5 mins ago.

Thanks very much for posting this. I decided to try wildpuzzle but i didnt think it was worth losing the 3 apps but I hadn't backed up my original rom so this was perfect. This worked very well for me.

Worked perfect for me too with a different SD card. Would not work with the card that had partition on.
Suits me though as I have one SD card with '3' rom on and one with Puzzle+partition on.
Best of both worlds!!!!.
Thanks very much for posting this.
No problem guys, at least it was useful posting it.

hey dude, this link seems inavailable cuz the limit of 10 downloads reached.
could someone reupload that? thx
Sorry i will sort it out.
EDIT- try it now
This might have just helped me solve the biggest problem i have faced in a while!!
Thanks to the OP.
I too, when i partitioned the SD, lost the original backup of the 3 ROM. Thing is, it's my mothers Wildfire!! She was missold it, and now has to return it and wait till next week to receive another.
Anyways, tried everything from RUU (Error 140 Bootloader); tired the %temp% rom.zip to get PC49DIAG.zip, fails to install.
Tried so many different WWE RUU (get Error 131 Invalid Client ID)
Yes, before you ask, i made a goldcard, doesnt do anything here (it works, as it works for other HTC devices i have rooted - Magic )
Anyways, i was going to just flash the most stock ROM i could find (probably MCR) and just tell her to say NOTHING, if the issue of branding arises, to just say that it came like that. Must of slipped thru the net!!
Hopefully this will work!
Thanks again.
UPDATE:
Links do NOT work, can somebody who got this files, please reupload.
I need to try this so i can restore a Wildfire back to 3 branded.
Thanks in advance (if anyone obliges)

I had it on my computer but there's no guarantee that the MD5 thing will work. That seems to break if you move it around too much.
I will get it later, but it appears after sucessfully getting the 3uk RUU from shipped-roms to work (with a downgrade.zip & region.txt), after full reboot, the touch panel has now failed.
If i goto hboot, it simply says TOUCH PANEL-FAIL.
I cannot access the phone at all. The RUU seems to of worked as the 3 logos appears etc, but cant slide the lock screen down to go through the setup.
No problem; its a case of.....'I did a factory reset via phone settings, it rebooted, and this'. Phone going back to 3 store, a new one is coming next week.
3 Store decided to issue new contract, when my Mum went in for an upgrade. They didnt tell her, she ended up phoning 3 as she kept getting SMS saying her balance was going up daily! 3 (on the phone) gave her better deal and said the 3 store do this all the time.
So, ultimately....i won by getting RUU to work, but the phone lost and decided to fail the touch panel to get back at me.
It doesnt even get recognised anymore on the PC, i was going to try a different RUU to see if it was the RUU that casued the fail (which i SERIOUSLY doubt).
Thanks anyways. Not had much joy with this Wildfire....Rooting etc was easy.
need help!
Hi, I've rooted my htc wildfire and after that I got to know that I can't update my phone from htc anymore. I was looking for the ruu file then I found ur post and it is the exact match for my phone. but the link is not working at all..... . could you please upload the file again so I would be able to download it for my phone. will be greatfull....
thanks in advance.

[Q] how can I remove my custom rom

I'm Currently running android revolution hd 7.1, I notice a huge signal degradation so I guess I need to go back to stock.
Is there any an go back to fully stock?
I've searched for RUU, but they do not have 1.29.707 WWE, and mandrels doesn't seems to work on me (it just restored to default setting for ARHD)
Any help is appreciated

You mean you didn't create a nandroid backup of your device before flashing a custom ROM? You should always do that. I think you'll have to wait until a RUU is released, or if someone is willing to post a nandroid of their device
I know theres a stock zip found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752. Just flash it and you'd be back to stock. Your bootloader would still show as tampered. I did it and went back to stock as well.

I am still new to android, I thought a simple backup of apps and data is sufficient. Do you have any idea how long will it be released?
Totally regretted...

Ya, a Nandroid takes a complete mirror copy of your device (excluding any files on your internal storage like music, pictures, and videos) and saves it in a single file. You'll want to get in the habit of making these before flashing custom ROMs. The backup apps just saves the apps you've installed from the Google Play Store as well as SOME of it's configuration data.
I would post a request to see if someone with the same regional device as yours could upload a nandroid. Give your country and operator details...maybe someone has a nandroid you can restore to.

Singapore, Singtel. I wouldn't expect to find any nandroid from my country given the small number of users.
I guess my my region for HTC Build is 1.29.707.X
Thanks for your help. I have learnt from my experience...:crying:
Does anyone know about HTC's warning about the DRM keys being lost when you flash custom roms? I'm thinking about getting the Dev edition but is anything lost when you flash back to stock or another rom? I know with the Xperia Z, if you unlock the bootloader you'll lose the Bravia engine.
Singapore Stock backup is here -> http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/h...ot-recovery-htc-one-1-29-707-3-a-4188771.html
I created using TWRP so you have to switch to it instead of CWM first

[Q] How to do full system dump?

Hi,
I will be getting a HTC One shortly to replace my Galaxy S2. It will be from my local Canadian carrier SaskTel. I plan on flashing CM10 or else the full Google Edition conversion (bootloader, recover and all). What I want to know is how do I do a FULL backup of my stock system? Will a nandroid suffice? I'm new to the HTC world. I'm used to the recovery being part of the kernel. Does nandroid back up the recover partition?
Thank you.

A nandroid backup is enough. But if you are talking about backing up radio, kernel and recovery on your phone I have no idea how to do that. All I know is you can look around for them in the xda forum. But if it's just the ROM you're talking about, a nandroid backup will do.

Yeah I want to back up everything. In one of the dev threads there's a RUU zip of all of the partitions and radio for the Google Edition. I want to do the same with my stock phone once I get it. There has to be a way to do it because they did it with the GE variant.
Looking through this zip file it looks like they are dd image files. I'm familiar with dd in linux and mac. Does anybody have a list of which block devices correspond to which partition? Also, how do you backup the radio?

[Q] Assistance Please - Returning to Stock

I have read a pile of material now on returning to Stock. I am still confused, and want to turn my One back to stock in order to sell it.
I have a Telus Mobility HTC One
Firmware 1.29.661.17
HBOOT= 1.44
I am rooted
I have S on
Ok, now that this is all out of the way, here is what I want to accomplish:
1. I want to return the HTC one to stock
I learned a valuable lesson. I really should have taken a nandroid backup before jumping into flashing custom roms. My bad. I have never done it. Now I know why.
Can someone please point me in the correct direction?
Things I have done/looked for:
-I have searched for a 1.29.661.17 nandroid backup for TWRP. There was a link for one, it is dead. I have PM'd the original poster in hopes they still have it.
-I have searched for a RUU to download. I haven't had much success, or what I saw confused the heck out of me.
Now, if someone could please assist - What is the correct procedure for me? Can someone point me to the right place, link to go?
I appologize. There are a bundle of posts on returning to stock. I didn't mean to open another one.

Here's a link for 1.29.661.5 TWRP nandroid backup. You should be able to restore this and then take OTA's to get you back to 1.29.661.7 and then 1.29.661.17.

Thank you! So one last question. Do I just flash it like any other ROM in twrp? Or do I have to put it in the twrp backups file then hit restore? Because if that is the case I'm kind of pooched. I downloaded the file and copied to data/twrp/backup. When I go to twrp it doesn't show up.

The file you downloaded is in rar format (kind of like a zip). Get winrar and extract the files it contains (system.ext4.win, etc) and then copy them into the twrp backups folder in same manner as other backups, then use TWRP restore function.

Using my nandroid backup on my wife's phone?

Me and my wife use the exact same model phone and both are rooted. Hers has had a few issues that have made it unusable at times. Mine works as it should. Question is, can I use my backup on her phone to restore a 'good known working' system? and then just modify it for her stuff. I'm assuming she would keep her phone number and all that (I get a little foggy when it comes to all imei/sim stuff).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
yes you can, but only do NOT restore EFS and is all good.
Make a nandroid backup first.
