Hi all,
I'm having issues with USB tethering with the new HTC One (T-Mobile). I'm running Windows XP Professional SP2 and Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).
I installed the latest HTC Sync Manager (version 2.0.53.0) from the web, but I can't seem to get the "HTC remote NDIS device" to start. I see an error code in Windows device manager: This device cannot start. (Code 10). I can recognize the phone as a mass storage device and sync with the Sync Manager. I can also navigate the file system using Windows explorer.
I also applied the RNDIS hotfix for Windows (support.microsoft.com/kb/959765), but no luck. I needed this to get USB tethering to work with my Motorola Droid Bionic (also running Android 4.1.2 on Verizon).
Bluetooth tethering works as does tethering with PDANet. USB tethering also works fine on this computer with my Motorola Droid Bionic.
I called T-Mobile to confirm that they're not blocking tethering capability on their end. Anyone else seen this issue?
Thanks!
HTC won't support Windows XP SP2
I got a reply from HTC. In short, their RNDIS drivers were never tested with Windows XP SP2. And they don't ever plan on supporting SP2.

I got my Kaiser yesterday. It works fine, but I can't get it to sync with my laptop running Vista. My old TyTn was fine, but I've deleted that partnership and now I can't get the Kaiser to sync.
It appears in Device Manager under Network Adapters as Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter #5 (I don't know what it thinks adapters 1-4 are).
Any ideas?
I'm using vista 64 bit and windows mobile device centre and have no problems synching via the supplied cable, haven't tried bluetooth yet though.
I assume you are not using Activesync but Windows Mobile Device Center? Also under Connections in the Settings menu you find the option USB to pc uncheck (or check) the option provided by this program to check if this will fix your problem...good luck...
Hi, I'm running Windows 7 RC1, I've installed WMDC, it tries to install an unidentified driver which fails. My TyTn2 isn't detected by it either so I can't access the phone atall. Any help?
Hate to bump, but 47 views and no answer?
What win7
I have win7RC-64
Plugged in, downloaded active sync and installed perfectly. On your phone, there is a setting under connections I believe, under USB, and you have to check or uncheck the little box, something like allow connections over USB.
Check it.
Also, try running windows update again, it should work like magic
I have, I'm worried it might be a problem with the usb on the phone as it charges but it doesn't get picked up by my PC. I also tried activesync on Virtual XP and that didn't help. I've upgraded to retail Windows 7 aswell.
Iedbythereaper,
Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.

i had the same problem that it would charge but not connect just like you. i couldn't get it to work on both w7 and vista. the issue was bent pins in the usb port and after i bent them back it worked perfectly. see thread: Possible micro-USB failure problem!!
I'm hoping SOMEONE out there can be of some assistance with my issue:
I was previously running Windows 7 RTM (64-bit Ultimate) with my Tilt (WM6.1 stock HTC ROM), and syncing with no issues.
I recently had to update my PC from the RTM to a real (paid-for) version of Windows 7, and I moved to 32-bit Ultimate (clean install) because of other application compatibility.
My Windows 7 installation now does not want to recognize my Tilt via USB (says "USB device not recognized"). I DID finally manage to get it to sync via BlueTooth, but even after removing the offending USB device from Device Manager (several times), and letting it re-discover the USB connection, it always shows "USB device not recognized".
My laptop is an HP dv9000 (1.6GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB hd). I also sync to my Acer AspireOne netbook via USB, without any issues. I have also tried ANOTHER Tilt, and it will not recognize it, either. So the issue IS with the software on the laptop...I'm just trying to avoid re-installing the laptop again, since I already have MULTIPLE hours re-installing all the other apps on it.
Any light that anyone can shine on this issue would be great.
Reinstall
Reinstall Windows Mobile Center
Turn off advanced network functionality in USBtoPC if that fails then reinstall WMDC.

Where is Advanced Network Functionality (I appologize if this is a stupid question) located? I've been hearing about this as a possible issue, but I'm not sure if it's on the phone, or the PC, and where?

It's on the phone USBtoPC if not in settings you can find it in Windows Directory
Found my answer...
Well, it turns out it was a bad USB socket on my Tilt. It makes good enough connection to charge the battery, but not for data transfer. I got another Tilt, and I put it on the same cradle to the PC, and it connects up just fine.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Hi All,
Can I connect my HD7 via USB & see another removable mass storage drive being shown in Windows Explorer or Device being shown as Mobile Device.
Prior to HD7, I was using Nokia E72, HTC Touch (Elfin) and other phones. On all those phones, I could transfer file directly using Windows Explorer. But not in HD7.
HD7 doesn't even allow file through Bluetooh
Can any one help?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jhonny,
I have Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit OS on my laptop. I downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 for Windows vista 64-bit from Microsoft & installed on my laptop.
I kept my phone in on state, such that it should not switch off display, does not lock up etc..
Downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center App on my phone & started it.
Then I connected phone to Laptop.
WMDC in laptop, didn't connect to my phone.
I tried locating my phone in Laptop's Device Manager and found it is there under 2 devices, Portable Devices & Windows Phone USB Devices.
I thought, since zune is pitching in on connecting phone to laptop, I uninstalled Zune from laptop & tried again to connect.
In WMDC in laptop connection setting also, I selected USB to connect, but in-vain.
Am I missing something?
yes wrong one u downloaded
i think you need to download the one that in the thread in the hacking thread if i'm not wrong.
Hi Ttblondey,
Can you please provide the link.
Thanks,
Rupesh
Your looking for WPDM (Windows Phone Device Manager). Maybe your searching for the previous WMDM (Windows Mobile Device Manager).
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
My HTC One is connected and is sharing internet via usb tethering to my pc however it just shows that the network has no internet access even though it works on PC. I have android 4.3 custom Rom, but the correct driver is installed and windows 7 reecognizes the phone in network adapters.
